  1. I did maths and souvenirs-analysis. I admit i was wrong on most things i said. Thanks for the advices.
  2. Hello, Theorycrafting/rockinchair-general advice : -A lone runeson is unlikely to do much, you won't have enough CP to fuel his command ability. -Same for 5 Auric Heartguard, they are unlikely to do any significant dammage, go 10-15 or go home. -Consider the Runesmiter on Magmadroth, he has been GREAT for me, the +1 armor once per game aura is your out-of-jail ticket against double turn and he is reliably fast. A sucessful list similar to yours was Vostarg Magmadad Magmasmiter Smiter Runemaster BannerGuy 10+10 Vulkite + 30 Berzerkers Lord of the lodge : 2000 total 5 drops I like Vostarg. You don't loose on objectives that easy. I don't like this list, i miss randged attacks.
  3. Very interesting list. Would you mind explaining some of your choices? Some like Midnight tome instead of the pendant, or your spell choices or the presence of the shards or the engine? Thanks for sharing.
  4. I guess everyone has his own definition of fun™. Mine would be, ending the game happy, regardless of the issue of the game, because you played the game. (And i am the kind of guy that loves to play with or against Dredge/Storm/SnT in MTG) Sure, when Nagash hit AoS V2, it was called BATSHITOPWTFBBQLOL, yet it doesn't won that much tournaments and people adapted to the matchup by playing against the repop. I really enjoyed trying idoneth vs 3++ dragonzombies and dusty hands grand daddy. same happened for DoK and Dwarfs. Yet i haven't found the solution for Slaanesh. The "Learn to play" argument is a bit naïve and people often overestimate the importance of beeing a good general in this game compared to having an "overthetop" battletome. You might be Kasparov, you will never beat an average HoS player while playing a Destruction army (Except maybe that fancy endless-spell grot army). Anyway, i am all ears on the subject to "How to beat SheWhoThirst" if you have any general advices to share, usable by anyone (other than"just-play-the-objectives, you grot").
  5. And what would be your optimal list today? What would you bring to the Ultimate Tournament of Ultimate Destiny™?
  6. I reformulate. I play "competitively" five different armies with diferent degree of mastery/stupidity. I understand that everybody are not equal in this game, for the better. What i denounce here is the degree of "unfun" a game can be against HOS. Compared to the vast majority of other armies, where you are asking yourself, how to win with your army, you are asking yourself how to not loose straitghtforward against HoS. Remember the clowncar? Quite unfun when you ran into it. You had to play defensively, screen properly, bet on the double turn, blahblahblah. This matchup is even worse. It doesn't matter that you double turn or not. Unless the opponent can apply ranged pressure, you are safe! On the countrary, getting double turned by HoS is a straight game over, no matter your strengh, positionnement, buffs. I don't mind gettin' recked by Daughters of Khaine, they offer a fair game. Nor do i mind fighting 2+/4++ naked dawi. They can be occupied/beaten. However i mind fighting the opponent in my own turn, and having his whole army strike twice before you can even raise your sword (if you have one alive after that). And even if you traded unit with him, sometimes relying on some KoS fumbble, a Hos player can put half an army again pretty much anywhere he wants while you stand exhausted and bleeding, stealing half of your objectives. Quite an unfun experience. By the (Dark) Gods, i am such a whiner. I should stop that quickly, apologies. Strangely, my most interesting games against HoS are with Khorne (also because i won and because Khorne is underestimated-after all, the best players continues to collect skulls, laughing at the grumbling of unexperienced players). Yet they where caused by a bunch of happy initiative rolls and "gotcha" moments.
  7. Forgive my lack of knowledge but what part of the mirror match does it beat?
  8. This is a bit harsh and you should probably experience facing Slaanesh as a normal army. You will see how one sided the game can be. You can add elements that allows you to interact with your opponent outside of the combat phase where you have absolutely no chance but it makes you globally weaker against other armies. Sure a big volley of namarti reavers is a danger for any keeper but a liability against anybody else You are also forced to stay defensive because once 30 DP are scored the Slaanesh player can steal any unprotected objective he wishes by moving his 16 mov heroes and daisy-chaining summoning. By having infinite movement you can dictate the combats where you can pile stacks of units to overcome basically anything and get stronger by farming DP. It feels a bit like playing Idoneth and being on high tide every turn. (and get back your units when they get killed) Once i played a game where by the end of turn 2 i have lost 1300 pts of army, and not thrown a single attack dice. Not the best game experience i had. The main weakness of the faction, being squishy, is overcome by his greatest strengh, being unreachable in the most interactive phase in the game
  9. Hello, As usual, sorry if the answer is where i didn't searched. Question : Lets say i face a Nurgle army while i play Pestilens. -Do i get +2 mov / +1 to wound if the weels is on number 1 or 2. (rule lawyer on : the weel applies on Nurgle armies but thats only count for trigered abilities - static effects are for the whole table) Change my mind : -My plague monks get +3 mov when within 7" of an ennemy bell-wielding GUO and can run n charge near the tree.
  10. GG How many folks?what did you face?
  11. Just tried the AshleyMcEWan list post point reduction fount on TheHonestWargamer. Did it completely untouched. Dreadblade Harrow - General- Trait: Ruler of the Spirit Hosts - Artefact: Aetherquartz Brooch Reikenor the Grimhailer - Lore of the Underworlds: Soul Cage Lady Olynder, Mortarch of Grief - Lore of the Underworlds: Spectral Tether Knight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed - Artefact: Pendant of the Fell Wind Kurdoss Valentian, the Craven King 5 x Hexwraiths 5 x Hexwraiths 10 x Chainrasp Horde 5 x Bladegheist Revenants 5 x Bladegheist Revenants 2 x Chainghasts Black Coach Deathriders Shroudguard Chronomantic Cogs I was against some Random Legion of sacrament list with arkhan, a dragonlord, 30 grimghasts 10 skeletons necromancer and 2X5 wolfs 4 morghasts on Scorched earth. The list did pretty well. I deployed the hexwraiths, the bladegheists, the chainghasts in the warp, gave him turn one, stole one CP. Then he steelpinioned his dragonlord and T1 charged the KOS and Olynder, killed the knight and left Olynder at1hp. wooops. He did a mistake by advancing Arkhan a little bit too much and allowing me to charge him with the black coach and by putting the ass of the coach within3" of the grimchast, engaging only a few of them and neutralising them for the whole game. i teeported a lot of things, charged most of them and making 4 waves of terror. At the end of my turn two i controlled all the objectives, killed all Morghasts, arkhan wolves and skeletons. On his turn 3 he scored zero and scooped. Ke kept the initiative all the game. Afterthoughts : Infinite mobility is a thing in burning objectives games. Waves of terror on 9+ is a thing. MSU is a thing with wave of terror. Soulcage is enormous. Kurdoss is quite a beast, he killes 5 wolves and 2 morghast on his own and stole a crutial CP (preventing Inspiring presence). I never realised he had -2 rend. The coach is a trap...for the opponent. I desesperate to make Olynder worth her points. I don't like cogs but i feel i need it. I really liked making 12 charge rolls in the same turn, maximizing WOT chances.
  12. Well, priests where basically lvl3 wizards that can cast on 75% success chance with no unbind possible. That seems too good to be true. I am ok. What strikes me hard is that now there are models you can buy a leg, take time to paint but can't actually play. half of the battle plans have strict tight territory where a single scenery can prevent you from ddooping your altar/ loonshrine /fane.
  13. The table is now composed of 10 scenery, each 6 away from another, 6 away from the border and 3 away from an objective. Your altar hat to follow the same rule. Goodbye altar, it was nice playing with you. Now priests are again on 4+ unrerollable.
  14. Has anyone any problem placing the altar under the new rules?
  15. Not so fast! There is quite a legend about shark beeing useless and needing support which i disagree a lot. Sure the dammage output doesn't compare with Ishlaen but that is not the point. Here was my list for the last year : Volturnos + 2 Scriers (with various artifacts) Akhelian corp with 6 +3 Morsarr and 6+3 Ishlaen Turtle and shark. And it won me two 3-0, 24 man tournaments and made me go 4-1 in the London Blood Tithe 2019 (4-man team) only loosing to myself beeing dumb and unable to deploy properly against a tzeentch player (Spoiler : ambushing is a self-trap) I wont talk about the usual eel scryer volturnos package. For me the shark acted like a terrible nuisance for the opponent. He can't be ignored, still dish some dammage, eat 5 wounds caracter alive, fits where eel squad can't, shot at chaff along with the turtle for 9 3+/3+/- shots total, packs REND which you lack a lot, is a wonderful target to get +4 Rend2 Dammage3 attacks to eat thoses pesky armoured units andd finally is still a dangerous threat with 7 wounds attached to his back. Yes it can be seen asa downgrad from ishlaen with unit stats, but it does things that ishlaen don't. (For the funny story, i once tryed to pack a unit of 3 but i had a terrible battleshock experience.) The Turtle is another story which i have a lot to tell too.
  16. Consider the akhelian Corp. +100 points -5 drops, extra artefact and CP. And a ****** reroll EACH PHASE for the leviathan! To run to shoot to charge to hit with the fins etc. Worth.
  17. Depite my best effort to find that post, i cant find it in the massive thread, would you mind detailing spells/general/prayers? Thanks in advance
  18. LotL seems a staple, easy fo fill, no real tax. Don't forget that this is a team tournament and that you have a certain control on the matchups. Fielding a Deathstar army is less risky if you can control where it lands. In a soloqueue tournament this would be considered risky.
  19. Has anyone any experience with magmapykes? Auric heartguard seems more and more appealing with the proheminence of unbeatable strike first twice monster.
  20. Just had a game agains some Slaanesh random Scum. I had Aspiring Deathbringer general with reroll charge bubble Exalted DB with +2 attacks 3 priests 1Bloodsecrator with banner of wrath 5 warriors + 2X5 hounds 3X5 Skullreapers 2X5 wrathmongers Slaughterborn bataillon Wrath axe and bloodicon 10 drops He had a godseeker host 2 Flying Keeper of secrets 1 exaltedchariot with hero 1 epitome 3X5 Helstrider 10 seekers umbral spellportal Cavalcade and sybarite bataillon 2 drops We where playing on gift from the heaven in Ghyran. I packed everything in the middle, he gave me the first turn. I casted my judgement to block paths and blessings and pass the turn. He advanced at 16.1" from me and ended his. I won the rollof and gave him the double. He charged with his keeper and his seekers on my left flank, killing a unit of warriors and reapers in one strike. Then i countercharged and killed them all with 5 reapers and 5 mongers (with 2 or 3 extra attacks) amazing. But i failed to catch my objectives that they where sitting on. I got the double,s made a long 11 charge with hounds and seized both objectives. Then he took his turn and made something i didnt expected, summoned a chain of heralds on foot to summon a pack a daemonette on my obejectives (but he failed to have more than my 3 reapers) he got the double, seized both objectives turn4 summoned another keeper and exalted chariot and smashed me a little. The rest of the game was an exchange of objectives and i happened to win by a single point. Afterthoughts : Keepers are scary veeery scary. Having your whole army striking last after the ennemy striked you twice is no fun. The epitome is crucial too in this gameplan. We counted that he played with 3200 army points with his summonings vs my 2140 worth. That seemed a bit unfair. Fighting slaanesh can't be done like any other random army, you have to have a very specific plan, sceens and patience. About my own army : Slaughterborn was valuable. Very. Was it worth an extra unit of reapers/skullcrusher? ....mmmmmh. Dunno. The effect is passive, unconditionnal, reduces drops and adds an artifact. It indeniably saved my ass against Rend1 daemonettes/Seekers. What was the most valuable was all the retaliation i had in the army. I failed to rememebr to activate the Tithe N6 when i needed and that would have been muuuch less close. The exalted with spears and his 11 attacks was not the tax i thought he would be but defenitely not a suport piece as his useless command ability suggest. What i missed was speed. Mov5 models are nice but this is where hounds and juggernauts really shines. To fight slaanesh i really feel that working on long range dammage is a key. I summoned a Canon dut it did nothing, contrary to priests. I almost feel i need 5 priests and a bloodsecrator for our heroes.
  21. 150 points can get you another batch of 20 chainrasps, 10 reapers or an extra hero. Not worth CONDITIONAL rerolls and an artifact/cp. Same for chainguard. Nighthaunt allegiance is made for speed over resilience. Your best strength is wave of terror. Once you have taken the felleind pendant there is little interesting artifacts. Your best bet is to multiply your speed, bodycount and your number of charges. (WoT happens 1/6, imagine you roll a dice in each charge, on 6, bam you get an extra combat phase)
  22. What I don't like about him is that he is unreliable in his attacks and his command is probably the weakest of the faction in tie with the mighty lord. It is very restrictive and command points usages are crowded. The good part is that he is tanky for a hero, but not as much as you might think. He still dies to anything that kills your priests. He is rightly priced for what he brings. I guess I wanted an akhelian king.
  23. Hail mighty warriors! Just had a small 20 man tourney with 1500 points and Vanguard restrictions (2+ battleline and 0-2 behemoths...) Here is the list. Goretide Lord on Juggernaut General Hoe the Foe. + torc Bloodsecrator 2 priests with sacrifice and brozed flesh. 3Mighty Skullcrushers 3Mighty Skullcrushers 5 Skullreapers 5 Skullreapers 5 Skullreapers Wrathaxe and bloodicon choices explained : 9 drops is a lot at 1500 (and i didnt have any 1st turn.) but i gave up on bataillons since they are a significant invvestment at that range and some contain too much taxes. i also gave up on 3 places of power (scenarios are random on 1D18) Goretide because of the reroll and the 3+ unmodifiable seemed a good idea. At that range 3+/2+ armor can be a pain to manage and i beleved that juggernaut battlelines could be hard to manage. Skullreapers because they are our grimgastreapers. I am against the trend that seems to find that the skulls are great. Yes the effect is great when it connects, but the stars have to align. You have to face a magic opponent, play 1st in the round or play second and make the skull survive, put the sulls in range, makke the ennemy cast, fail to cast, weak enough to be dissipated or roll a 8. not for me. Plus i had to know that a good half of the tournament are not gonna play magic heavy or at least significant (and nagash is absent in that format) Too much condition for e. I prefer the icon, d3 mortals is d3 mortals and the bravery effect can sometimes connect. I tried to play the countercharge game with screens of juggernaut with reapers behind. Battle 1 Blood and glory VS Nurgle GUO, giant daemonrat, mortal sorcerer 60 monks, 3X5 blightkings The guy was nice but seems inexperienced. He didn't seems to know the insane tricks a Nurgle army can deploy on instant-win scenarios. He took the fisrst turn and to my greatest displeasure charged with his monks and took 3 jugger a priest and my lord. Then 10 Reapers piled in and the blob disapeared. I took the double and charged his giant rat that was far too advanced and poped it. The rest of the game was me trying to hunt for his points hile trying to prevent some summoning shenanigans. By the end of turn 5 i had all points. Blood tithe usage : Extra combat-10 hounds summoning-extra movement. Battle 2 Scorched earth VS Stormcast Stardrake 2X2 fulminators 2X5 liberators 1X5 Judicators 1Castellant He took the turn 1 and made the long charge with the stardrake and 2 fulminators, distributing mortals in the shooting phase. He anihilated a unit of reapers anda priest (and ate a bloodsecrator) The fulminators bizarely bounced on the juggerlord and left him at 2 wounds. I was forced to attack the stardrae and ate a bunch of extra mortalsdue to the shield. On my turn l left the Stardrake with 3 jugger on 2+ to manage and charged both his fulminators and fished for mortals (and killed all) From that point, the stardrake took far too much time to kill all the jugger which allowed me to take all his points 18-12 for me. Bloodtithe usage : 10 hounds summoning ;to capture a point before beeing anihilated exta movement. Battle 3 Battle of the pass VS Idoneth King, Caster, Priest 9 Morsarr 6 ishlaen and 20 Thralls. (King & Morsarr in the ethersea) He made a mistake and took the 1st turn, put an eel in range to capture a point and leave the other alone. In my turn i Bloodbind him and his ishlaens where suddenly far too close. I advanced with everybody, charged with 10 reapers, killed them all, took the double turn spend 3 tithe, charged the thralls with 5 reapers, and a unit of jugger, killed them all. Took all points. At the end of that turn he had only his caster on the table. On his turn 2 he poped the king and the morsarr, charged my lord in the back, killed him, took the double and killed5 reapers and 3 jugger and took my point. At the start of my turn 3 he had mathematicaly lost. If he leaves my point i retake it with a summoning from the altar and if he stays i am still to far ahead. 38-19 for me. Bloodtithe usage : 5 hounds summoning, extra movement AND A DAMN EXTRA CHARGE IN HIS TURN 4 HOW STUPID I AM since he can disengage and charge. 3-0 not bad. Afterthought : Goretide is ok without warriors but the reroll is unimpressive. Priests are awesoms, hounds too. Juggernauts battleline are far more interesting that i thought. They are extremely hard to remove and they move relatively fast. The juggerord is a crappy Bloodtithe point. Only good because he unlocks army compositions. I missed my aspiring deathbringer. I missed dogs. I always need ore of them. There is no such thing as "too much Skullreapers. " I still missed the skulls because they are better roadblocker than the icon but the icon was a marvel. (the axe is godly)
  24. It might be an option to go general trait + command brooch + kudoss and go full CP with both kind of KoS, resurrection.
  25. I think it is written in each legion description that this gives them access to lon spells. Soulblight gives only to vampires and Death not at all for example.
