  1. But nurgle doesn't need a big release. They need a book. A big release doesn't always have to come with a book That said sorcerer is the least exciting model they could release. For $30 you can get the underworlds sorcerer with 2 extra blightkings. The old rotbtinger sorcerer is fine. You can use the chaos sorcerer Lord or the glottkin sorcerer or many other things. Not hard to kitbash a staff onto a blightking. Festus, Harbinger, or Epidemius made much more sense unless they're just planning to drop those. .
  2. They mentioned in their last earnings call that they are working on this. The current "downgrade" is to prevent piracy. It was way too easy to get a nice hq full text searchable version of any codex/battletome in minutes, I can understand why they would try to address that.
  3. If you aren't familiar with 9th ed 40k. The battletomes have a code in then to unlock rules in the app. Almost certain they are delaying the book until the app is ready. And probably the same company doing wh+ app and aos app, so ones gotta wait.
  4. Um... You don't call the 2017release a release? GUO, pusgoyle blightlords, horticulus slimux, sloppity, spoilox, lord of blights, beasts of nurgle.. a few of those aren't even playable in 40k.... And "end of fantasy" not that long ago. Those models (blightkings, maggoth lord, glotkin, ??) Are all great kits and nowhere near old compared to what some armies are dealing with. Endless spells were just Chinese kits so gw could have "releases" even when they didn't have factory capacity. It's not something anyone "needs" Nurgle players who think they "need" models must not have played any other army.
  5. Really? What in that article implied to you more models? 1. They usually drop pretty obvious hints that models are coming (at least they did in the articles leading up to dragon/bird) 2. They usually don't start battletome previews until all models are revealed 3. They've done the centerpiece models, which presumably they'd save for last (why not?) 4. They literally said on social media that this was it for now.
  6. Whfb was a good fit for the existing total war genre and engine. It's about strategically moving around big regiments. And the troops were pretty low fantasy for the most part. I mean sure reskin some armies as skeletons and some as orks, bit it's still just a bunch of infantry. AoS is about skirmishes, heroes, monsters, magic, and more out there fantasy. How do you put KO, or Idoneth, or SoB, etc? Even if they could sort it out, what's the point? It'd be nearly the same game just with AoS shoehorned in..Hard pass, but I do look forward to other genres of AoS games
  7. It works whfb-> AoS because the 20mm square almost fits inside of a 25mm round. So even without snap on convertors or movement trays you can just leave a little air between the models. On the other hand, playing round in square game means your regiment takes up 25% more space. I'm a casual matched player but that seems like too much a difference to really play as intended.
  8. Happy for anyone that still has armies on square bases that was waiting for this bit it looks like TOW will not be for me. Seems like, while you could and still can do square bases in AoS, round bases in TOW really won't work. Look forward to some sweet models to use in AoS though!
  9. You actually don't have to ask if anyone has heard any rumors, they'll be posted here.... In the rumor thread. You can search it just scroll through a few pages to the last time someone talked about it. Tl;Dr there aren't any, other than gw implied dark duardin are coming at some point
  10. From time they announce preorder they have a week or so to reveal the last models before the books start hitting retailers. I don't see why they need to reveal the models before the "preorder announcement"(2 weeks before it's on sale)
  11. Reading the core book, by how much they talk about "dawnbringer crusades", a term they never used before and have retroactively applied to happening ever since the realmgate wars, they've gotta have more planned than some terrain...
  12. Whitefang did suggest several pages back (with text and not reactions) that skaven was coming at some point and insinuated it was eshin.. I suspect even if they did focus on eshin they'd take the opportunity to do a few other kits, similar to the ork release we are seeing right now.. I think skaven and seraphon are so popular, so fantasy and uniquely GW that hopefully they will do them justice. Kroak is a really good sign for seraphon IMO. I expect he was not designed in isolation.
  13. Wanting (or even needing) something doesn't make it so. How many armies "needed" something in AoS 2.0 (more than spells and terrain) and how many actually got it? Most armies still need "big" updates (either small armies like Fireslayers, DoK, SoB) or models with many outdated kits (CoS, seraphon, skaven, boc, ogors, std). They can't address all those this cycle..there may be some souping/consolidation (model squatting), and the other armies may just get a battletome and hopefully a plastic hero or maybe even a single unit kit. Look at how long eldar is waiting to only receive a unit and a hero
  14. It's kinda funny..3 years ago, Notthingham could not produce enough plastic and AoS 2.0 was all about endless spells and terrain from China... Now, it seems like with the pandemic and Brexit, perhaps they are having the opposite problem (what happened to cursed city??). I don't know if the molds used in China for endless spells work on the UK tooling..or even if they are struggling to get more sprues from china, just something to consider. Either way, they can't be released individually, it would have to be 1 sprue at minimum which for most is multiple endless spells.. but they for sure have doubled down on them in 3.0 so I guess they'll find some way to produce and productize them going forward. Also maybe we don't get another big preview before the battletomes. The dragons will be released with battletome: stormcast extremis or the 6th stormcast Eternals battletome 4 months after the 5th!
  15. As far of TOW goes, after reading the rumors and theories: 1. I don't think they will give rules for ALL the WHFB units. They've stopped producing most of those and while I guess it's possible (unlikely) they may bring a couple of select kits or a faction back, they certainly aren't going to start producing that whole range again! And they've indicated (at least with AoS) they don't want to put rules for models you can't currently buy. You can play WHFB with your old minis, or you can play AOS with legends rules. There's no need for a 3rd ruleset for those old models... 2. I don't think they can or want to avoid "AoS" models completely. First because, most of those kits came from the old world, so why would they?! And a lot of the newer models for those armies are just updated versions or additional models that don't necessarily clash. I have noticed that many recent releases in AoS have not been as "far out" AOS fantasy as, say, KO or Idoneth, but instead more classic, toned down fantasy like Lumineth (minus giant cow man) or Vampires. if 30k is 5% as popular as 40k, and AoS is 25-50% as popular as 40k (i just made up these numbers) then GW knows they can't get away with creating an entire new range of miniatures for TOW, so I think some strategic reuse of AOS kits where it matches the aesthetic (particularly where the AOS minis are designed with TOW in mind!) is probably their plan. But we shall see!
  16. The generic artifacts include a 5+ ward. Seems better than a lot of what's in older battletomes, so I'm hopeful new battletomes will have additional defensive artifacts for heros just as good. Doesn't help your troops tho...
  17. This is a pointless comparison. For certain the first few hours, many of the people who care have already seen it. They sent out an email as soon as it dropped. The miniatures will be revealed tomorrow, so the cinematic trailer will lose its appeal to many who haven't yet seen it... after a few days it will probably have most of the views it will ever have. Will it get a million views? Two million? Who knows. Obviously 40k has more fans and followers than AoS, but looking at how many views one video has after 6hrs and another after 30 days gives us nearly 0 insight.
  18. The question is: how many total stormcast kits are they willing to support at one time? They really gonna keep all those mold sets around and change their tooling to do another run of neave blacktalon of whatever other obscure hero or unit that happens to be the 50th most popular kit? I doubt it.. Space marines have a huge range because people buy it. So if you have to make (minimum quantity of sprues that justifies a run), it's ok because they're not gonna be taking up space for 5+ years. Their stormcast strategy is really weird and it's gonna lead to some really unfortunate situations I feel like (already has in the sense of power creep of new units)
  19. Obviously good marketing is "yes this is a product you should buy" for all of your products. But the fact remains, this box was never intended to sit on the shelf at the local game store for a curious newcomer to come by and look at. They expect/hope to sell through quickly, and the box that will be sitting in the store (age of sigmar: command edition, or whatever, which by the way is much better margin for them) will likely be much more clearly new player friendly. (Eg, does not included hundreds of pages of rulebook for a game whose main selling point is: rules are free)
  20. You're not making a valid comparison. Look up a picture of the back of 40k Command edition. Very clearly shows what your getting (and indicates it has everything needed to play). Say it with me: Dominion(and Indomitus) are not starter sets. They are limited run "launch sets" marketed towards existing players, and do not include all the tools needed to play.
  21. "Unite the duardin" sure sounds like soup tome to me....which is what most ko/fyreslayer players don't want right? So only exciting for dispossesed lovers that are currently stuck in a book with aelves!
  22. I would put seraphon very high on the "needs attention" list, with skaven and ogors. Their infantry doesn't even come in the right numbers (which matters to gw) and looks super dated. I get that some units like fyrslayers and DoK need more units... Until that happens I fear them getting rolled into books with dwarves and malerion respectively
  23. Are you sure that's the official lore? Or did you just hear that on the reveal stream like I did? I guess we won't know until the book is out maybe. But the shields definitely have the features of the orruks carrying them, and that would not make sense at all if it were supposed to be kragnos. I think the whtv guys just got 1 fact mixed up.
  24. Kruleboyz don't follow/worship kragnos more than any of the other destruction armies. He's the biggest baddest dude, so they respect him, as do the other orks, goblins, etc. He's depicted on that totem thing that one of them is carrying. Why do no other destruction factions have kragnos on their stuff or in their battletome? Because he didn't exist 6 months ago...
  25. Interesting how you can keep your GW reseller agreement while offering below standard discounts. I thought they were rather strict about that, especially brand new release...
