  1. I'm currently reading the Spear of Shadows book... and it cites various different guilds that have very different creeds from each other, as well various degrees of honor. There are some guilds that seem downright evil, and are suspicious of Sigmar. I agree that the faction could do with a splash of new models, but what's already there is very open to customization. I'm currently taking some bits from the Frostgrave Soldiers and Barbarian boxes to create a good mix of aesthetics. Not every guild is from Azyr. There are a lot of folks liberated by Sigmar who have somewhat reluctantly joined forces with Azyrite guild members. And, there is definitely tension between the humans native to a realm and the "colonizers" from Azyr. This is described in Spear of Shadows as well as City of Secrets. So, having a mix of model styles makes sense, but so does a pure army of matching aesthetics.
  2. Awesome cover. They also mentioned it's coming out Q3. I expected Q4, so this is a nice surprise.
  3. Awesome! Seems to be working well. You can even use the "no hero" variant without it barking at you.
  4. Warcry is Killteam/Mordheim... ? https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/02/08/8th-feb-lvo-studio-preview-2019-revealed-new-chaos-space-marines-sisters-of-battle-and-moregw-homepage-post-1/
  5. Spectral Host is going to make even Flayers viable. Also... lol @ flying ghouls.
  6. Is the system going to be more of a Fantasy (percentile-based) system, or something completely new?
  7. This is the list I'm going to try. I still need to pick up Arkhan. Was going to get him anyway to throw into a Sacrament/Nighthaunt army. I could drop the ghoul count down to 10 each... but that leaves them susceptible to being shot off the board. But if you take them down to groups of 10, that's 300 points to play with. LEADERS Abhorrant Ghoul King on Terrorgheist (400) Abhorrant Ghoul King on Terrorgheist (400) Crypt Ghast Courtier (80) Arkhan The Black Mortarch of Sacrament (320) UNITS 20 x Crypt Ghouls (200) 20 x Crypt Ghouls (200) 20 x Crypt Ghouls (200) BATTALIONS Ghoul Patrol (180) TOTAL: 1980/2000
  8. This is the list I've got. Arkhan is too good to pass up. I don't like the 10x Ghouls to start out. That can be quickly erased imo. LEADERS Abhorrant Ghoul King on Terrorgheist (400) Abhorrant Ghoul King on Terrorgheist (400) Crypt Ghast Courtier (80) Arkhan The Black Mortarch of Sacrament (320) UNITS 20 x Crypt Ghouls (200) 20 x Crypt Ghouls (200) 20 x Crypt Ghouls (200) BATTALIONS Ghoul Patrol (180) TOTAL: 1980/2000
  9. Does anyone know what list took the Socal Open? Apparently FEC placed at the top....
  10. Forgot about those. Was hoping to convert my Destruction Ogors and double-dip them into a Beast faction.
  11. What's the outside shot for Chaos Ogors to be a thing in the new book?
  12. Thoughts on this list? Thinking to add more of the artillery, but running the Execution Herd seems so tempting since you can switch targets after you dispatch the initial unit. I could drop Draz but he seems like amazing bait. Does my opponent attack the Herd? Do they attack Draz? I feel like that’s a good dilemma. Maybe drop the artillery all together for some Endless Spells and keep the Smith and Draz to drop spells?
  13. Where are you seeing this? I just checked and they are still 50.
  14. I sent an email to aosfaq@gwplc.com asking them to fix it.
  15. Ya man. I think I'm going to just "suggest" to my opponent that they're actually on 50s and "suggest" they try a different measuring device....
  16. Why are the Gutbusters all on 50mm bases? That's huge! Wrathmongers are on 40mm round now and were also on 40mm squares (same as the Ogors, Leadbelchers, etc...) Few months ago literally bought a bunch of 40mm to rebase them round.
  17. I'd throw in for a Patreon or other subscription. This is honestly my favorite miniature-related hub on the internet.
  18. +another Frostgrave has something like this. Everyone takes turn activating heroes (and any units within 3" of hero), then everyone activates non-battleline/non-hero units, then everyone activates battleline units... It's not 100% analogous. But, I wonder how something like that would work. I like how it's broken up in that way. It creates stress on clumping units versus spreading out.
  19. Haha! Appreciate the comment above about the other thread. It devolved exactly as I feared. There are some cool ideas in the OP. Probably all are worth considering, but there are two major things (imo) to point out before making any changes at least until the 2018 GHB. First.... THIS! I've played a couple of tournaments now, and my god. When there's a table that's absolutely barren of LOS blocking terrain, I want to do a nut. I get it. I should be prepared for such eventualities with a list that can handle any terrain setup. OK fine. Sure. But, I want to play a miniatures game, not a card game. Go and look up a game from the 1980's called Up Front.... WW2 infantry skirmish... card game. That's what you're playing when you leave an open battlefield. Put up some damn terrain. I would have played WFHB if I wanted. We got AoSkirmish, let's play it as it's designed. It's just my personal feeling re: miniatures games, but I like terrain to a level of annoyance. .... The second consideration has been mentioned in a few different ways in the posts above, but GW is certainly aware of this. They've moved in many ways to mitigate it, increasing points on shooting units, giving discounts on horde units, changing up the standard battleplans, adding some battalions and allegiance abilities to help mitigate against shooty armies, etc... I agree that the late game double turn is equally as critical as the early game. Sure... against 48 skyfires or kunnin suck early game double turn is more impactful, but that's entirely because of the shooting meta (which will hopefully not be quite as prevalent). Late game double turns can most certainly decide a game. Hopefully, these changes will shift the game in such a way that the double turn becomes "objective deciding" and not "game deciding".... which is what you want I think. I'd love some of the sense that Maelstrom of War brings to 40k. The double turn can(should?) lend itself to this. ------ Finally, the only thing more annoying that folks who can't be bothered to prepare for a double turn, are people that just go, "Oh, it's fine. There's no way GW can improve on what we have now. Let's not listen to all these people who hate it and are having a terrible time of it and want to quit over it." Also, use terrain. Have I mentioned terrain?
