  1. It would be nice and easy if they just erratad all the old abilities to be wards, rather than waiting for new battletomes. The erratas and warscroll updates are already so heavy for the update to 3.0 at this point.
  2. If every allegiance ability needs a definition of what coalition units are, maybe they just should've been defined in the core rules? Previously it seemed like coalition units could be battleline in open play but not matched play, which was a bizarre difference in list building rules between the two, but that's now been clarified. At least now with the coalition definition and extra errata on what can or can't be included the system seems to mostly work.
  3. We can no longer take the cheaper Beasts of Chaos Tzaangors as coalition units. "1 in every 4 units in the army can be a coalition unit from the 1 Beasts of Chaos faction that does not have the Tzeentch keyword. Those units gain the Tzeentch keyword" I missed that on my first read through as the pink added text is in the middle. Seemed like that was the original intention, but I do need to rework my list now.
  4. I'm just curious, how long are the battle reports and the painting masterclass videos? I'm gonna wait till the AoS app is out and there's a bit more content before trying it out myself.
  5. Is there any rule that you need to allocate wounds to blues before brimstones? I don't see anything that says so. So, starting from a unit of 10 pinks you could get down to having 0 pinks, 9 blues, 0 brimstones, and then be able to add back pinks, but with more wounds to help the unit survive until your next hero phase than if it had 0 blues and 9 brimstones.
  6. The Kruleboyz have such a monster focus that I'd be surprised if there isn't a way to turn on a conditional battleline monster, which I guess would need to be the Sloggoth. Also the hinting at a Black Templars launch box would mean that'll be a pretty substantial release lineup. I don't know if that's new info or if it changes our expectations of upcoming AoS releases.
  7. How many chaos spawn should we have available in our summoning pool? With just a Magister I'm guessing that 2 would be plenty, but what about a magic focused list with Kairos + Magister + Blue Scribes? What's the most you've ever ended up with on the battlefield at the same time?
  8. The Legion of Chaos coalition ability reads The Gaunt Summoner on Disc does not have the Mark of Chaos keyword so obviously can't be taken as a coalition unit. Clear and done. But I'm confused as to whether it can be taken as an ally. The Disciples of Tzeentch allies include My common sense initial interpretation was that the Gaunt Summoner of Tzeentch on Disc has the Tzeentch keyword, and so has a mark of chaos, and thus can't be taken as an ally. So no way to take it at all in a Disciples army. But reading things more literally, I'm not seeing anything in any rules that says having the Tzeentch keyword is the same as having a Mark of Chaos (much less being able or required to be given one). Units that can or or must be given a Mark of Chaos have both the Mark of Chaos keyword and the Mark of Chaos ability on their warscroll, and the Gaunt Summoner on Disc has neither. So I'm seeing one interpretation that would allow taking it as an ally. Going along with that, if it is able to be taken as an ally, I don't see anything in the core rules that prohibits allies from benefitting from allegiance abilities. It seems the intention was that the new ally and coalition rules would not allow any units to be able to be taken as an ally that shared a keyword with the faction, but the Gaunt Summoner on Disc seems like it was a bit forgotten.
  9. One change in 3.0 that I haven't seen any discussion around yet is the change from warscroll battalions being flexible in deployment to the battle regiment now being required to deploy all at once. For those who've got games in, has that felt meaningful at all as a slight disincentive to going low drop?
  10. Gonna join in on the contract for the first time. Goals: Finish Ylthari's Guardians (1/4 done so far) Finish Sepulchral Guard (2/7 done so far) Paint at least one more Tzaangor test model using my latest color scheme idea Stretch would be painting more Tzaangors, either more test models or putting a scheme I'm happy with into production.
  11. I'm a big fan of Louise's painting style so cautiously optimistic for the masterclass. The idea of Warhammer+ seemed real dumb to me when it was first announced, but now seeing the full scope of what's included it seems like a reasonable deal for anyone who is actually going to use a good portion of what is included. But no epubs for AoS 3 battletomes is a bummer.
  12. Yeah, this. Dominion is not a starter set. It has no dice, no measuring tools, no board or terrain, and no battle plans for pitting the two sides against each other. The actual starter sets that come later will have all of those and be evergreen for the lifespan of AoS 3, and be more appropriate for new players. They will have less value in miniatures, but more value in new players being able to pick it up and play easily.
  13. Yes. Taking Chaos Warriors in a Blades of Khorne army is specifically mentioned in the GHB. However we don't have the full picture because the mechanism for taking StD and BoC units in god marked armies will be "coalition units", but we don't have a definition for that yet. Each battletome will get a day 1 FAQ to make the allegiance abilities compatible with AoS 3 and these should provide the details on coalition units. So far all we know is that coalition units can't fulfill battleline.
  14. Beasts of Chaos cannot be allies of the 4 gods, but also Slaves to Darkness units that can take a mark cannot be allies of the 4 gods. But marked Slaves units definitely still can join god aligned armies as the sidebar clarification of coalition units specifically includes an example of taking Chaos Warriors with the Mark of Khorne as coalition units in a Blades of Khorne army. To me this makes it seem near 100% likely that the allegiance abilities of the 4 gods will be FAQed to add the option of giving marks to BoC units and taking them as coalition units. This coalition unit thing is underexplained in the GHB so I guess it will just be fully defined on an army by army basis in their allegiance abilities. So basically we just need to wait for the battletome FAQs, but based on the above coincidence I think we should be optimistic.
  15. With 40K 9th edition it seemed like some of the initial points changes were to what GW wanted the units to be worth, but those changes didn't really match reality until a new codex updated the unit's stats and abilities to match those desired point values. Which sucks for factions that are late to get an updated codex or battletome. Don't know if that's in play in any way here.
