  1. Is there anywhere I can watch these older games? I feel seeing the tactics would help me a lot! Maybe I'm not searching the correct key words on youtube.
  2. Unless I'm mistaken, I think you left out Vanguard, which requires a sub-commander and a troop, up to a max of 3 troops. It allows for once per battle to select a unit in this battalion to at the double or forward to victory (run 6" or reroll a charge). For us, wouldn't this be something to at least consider? I at least tried to reroll charges in hopes for a wave of terror or because I deepstruck a unit. We also don't have any in built abilities to help assure charges, so this maybe what we have to take as well.
  3. So, essentially, I'm running min squad chainrasps to eat a charge and use the Reapers to clean house? I'm thinking lists today will run at least 2 units of 20 grimghasts, possibly one 30 unit. this leaves one or two reinforced squads of rasps, but to me that just feels bad. I'm wasting points and reinforcements on a squad that even at 20, doesn't survive very long (this could just be who I play against, but not the overall meta)? I think I would just run 4 min squads for more coverage and fill the last slots with more grimghasts and hope for a deepstrike wave of terror. Another thing is, since grimghasts are our best unit, how do we deal with elite armies or hero targeting? A unit of 10 grimghasts with reroll 1's from a sprit Torment and an all out attack only deal 6 wounds about 70% of the time against a 4+ save with a 6+ ward. Due to the coherency rules, I'm against using Bladegeists or Harridans as about half I would say wouldn't be able to get into fight (this is me spit-balling, I could be terribly wrong) which leads them to deal less damage than the grimghasts against the same save as above even with a Spirit torment and all-out attack. Will this be a natural weakness that we have to accept? Yeah, lol. I went to their TGA and saw the pure Himalayan Salt poring from it. Hope they don't get destroyed in the Day 1 FAQ and hope for Nighthaunt getting some help!
  4. So, looking at the points and tinkering with lists, our biggest winners are the Grimghasts right? They go down to 155 points, they have a champion, the new all out attack gives them +3 +3 and +2 +3 for the champion, have a 2" reach to get around the new coherency rules (I'm entertaining the idea that this rule hurts the use of bladegeists and harridans by a lot), and they are a battleline with a min squad of 10. I'm having a hard time placing chainrasps. they feel like they need to be ran in a unit of 20, as 10 is just too flimsy, but I like by big hordes, but only 4 reinforcements really kills them. Are they worth playing over our Grimghasts, especially with warscroll battalions being obsolete in matched play? If this is true, do we even take a sub-faction if we don't run chainrasps? Feel free to point something out, I'm thinking of hopping over to OBR until Nighthaunt get something in the ways of a book or overhaul, but I'm holding out for some good news for our ghosts. Cheers.
  5. Can you explain this a bit further? It says it modifies the Save roll, Mystic Shield and All-out Defence, but Ethereal states: "Ignore modifiers (positive and negative) when making save rolls for attacks that target this model." your differentiation just doesn't make sense to me is all.
  6. The Knight of Shrouds is going with the bladegiests towards the backline. I can agree, for this reason, to make the Spirit Torment the general, as to get more value, but I disagree with cutting the Chainghasts. I want to try and assure the kill on the bloodserator, which has a 3+ save. I can change the plan to have the spirit hosts engage turn 2, but I want them to screen for Riekenor in turn one, maybe, since they can be supported by the Spirit Torment, can engage the Karkadrak, as he has 9 wounds and a 5++. either way, I think they could tie him up, it just depends on which side my opponent places him. I'd like to run the Krulghast Cruciator, as he'd be a solid include, but what can I cut to add him?
  7. Hey, I'm a new Nighthaunt player, and I'm struggling against my mate's khorne Goretide list, namely a chaos lord on Karkadrak as the general. Any tips on my plan or unit choices? my list is as follows: Allegiance: Nighthaunt- Procession: Reikenor's CondemnedKnight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed (120)- General- Command Trait: Ruler of the Spirit HostsGuardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern (130)- Artefact: Corpse Candle- Lore of the Underworlds: ShademistSpirit Torment (120)- Artefact: Pendant of the Fell WindReikenor the Grimhailer (160)- Lore of the Underworlds: Lifestealer20 x Grimghast Reapers (320)40 x Chainrasp Horde (280)6 x Spirit Hosts (240) or 30 x Chainrasp Horde10 x Bladegheist Revenants (180)10 x Bladegheist Revenants (180)2 x Chainghasts (70)Shroudguard (110)Balewind Vortex (40)Extra Command Point (50)Total: 2000 / 2000Extra Command Points: 2Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 125 My plan is to capture one or two objectives, and defend it while gaining points. my secondary objective is to cut away at his slaughterpriests and bloodsecrators, usually at the center of the army and next to each other. I place the shroudguard, the chainghasts, and the 40 chainrasps into the underworlds. Turn 1, run my hero's up, drop my 40 blob onto an objective, preferably the highest scoring one, and I stake my claim on this objective. I am trying to force the fight there. I am notably trying to lure the army away from his supports, and make an opening in the back for the shroudguard. Reikenor and the spirit hosts will be looking to touch a less populated objective, and set up within 18" of the fighting of the main objective. turn 2, Reikenor sets up his balewind vortex and attempts to casts his two spells, looking to pick a one of the target heroes if he can, or simple burn through a large threat. We burn through the corpse candle for either shademist or spectral lure, which ever is more needed. Grimghasts are looking for either chaos knights, chaos warriors, or bloodreavers, as these are the most threatening units that will proc reaped like corn. We drop the shroudguard and attempt to attack the slaughterpriests and bloodsecrator. If we are unable to, due to not enough space or they are too well shrouded, we expend one of the bladegeists to stall out the karkadrak, as if it gets onto the front line, the 40 chainrasp will be utterly demolished. Turn 3, reapeat above, except we force the drop onto the backline. I definitely see at this point retreating to less populated objectives, as Khorne can deal more damage than I can very well survive, in which case we send the chainrasp, hopefully with a cp to go 15" towards the next objective with the less pressure on it.
  8. I just played a demoralizing game against my mate's Reapers of Vengeance Khorne list, in which it feels that my heroes, atleast one but sometimes two, are blown up by his Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage's outrageous Carnage. How can I protect my Heroes better from this 10" move, double fight hero with an 8" bubble of 4 mortal wounds on a wound roll of a 6?
  9. How much is the power difference between a 40 chainrasp blob and a 30 chainrasp blob? I guess assume they have the support of either a Spirit Torment or a Guardian of Soul, but not both?
  10. Not sure if this has been answered, but I've been playing against Reapers of Vengeance Khorne and Hermdar Fyreslayers and I'm having issues with fight twice fight in succession, and fight first, especially with Soul Cage, which does nothing in the face of most abilities like Hermdar's Command ability. Any tips on playing against any of these type of abilities?
  11. I believe the Point changes, but it does feel like the latter.
  12. Alright, Thanks. Honestly, the announcement video rubs all of us the wrong way. I was already contemplating switching to OBR, and this announcement is pushing me more, but I have hope that Nighthaunt will get an update or an announcement of one this year or beginning of next. My pet theory is that Lumineth push into shyish, get stomped by Bone Daddy Nagash, and he sends Nighthaunt to wreck havoc in Hysh for the arrogance of the Teclis.
  13. Is there hope for a book still? I'm trying to recover from the gut punch that was BR: Teclis. I'd imagine that a 3 year old army is somewhere on priority list for update, but I've been wrong before.
