  2. Apologies for further threadomancy, but I find these show-and-tell threads to be a constant source of inspiration. Reprimand or delete as necessary. So I finally summoned all my Nighthaunt and got them together for a group photo. 6665 points from 261 models by my count and still growing. I'm hoping to amass a fully reinforced Nighthaunt Procession, and maybe even throw in an Emerald Host and Sorrowmourn Court for good measure. Next addition will be a Cruelghast Kruciator and another 10 Chainrasp
  3. Daemon Lord! Slaanesh and I are in an infuriating tsundere relationship since I stated Age of Sigmar. I love the background, potential and imagery for Slaanesh but the core daemon models just don't hit the mark. I may just bite the proverbial bullet and start a Supreme Sybarites Warscroll for the model I like.
  4. Fit'like? Still having issues? Your settings have probably reset to the default. To change your preference (if you haven't done so already): 1) You'll see your name in the top right corner of the TGA banner, top of the screen. Click on your name and this will give you a drop down menu. Select Account Settings 2) On this page, you'll see the Overview Menu on the left hand side of the screen. Select Content View Behaviour from the menu 3) This should give you 3 options - Take me to the comments I haven't read - Take me to the beginning - Take me to the latest comment Select your preference then Save. Hopefully this should be you sorted. Sounds like the first option was what used to happen before the update?
  5. With Hunters: The perfect cure for my growing Undead obsession. I'll be a happy acolyte if they continue the classic Brothers Grimm aesthetic. Side note. Anyone seen the Hellsing Ultimate Anime? Who ever does the voice over for the Witch Hunter video reminds me on Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing.
  6. I'm in a position where I've never really budgeted for my hobbies, and simply buy the things I want. If I can't afford it, I simply wait and save until I can. As such, my buying habits haven't really changed despite the price rises. What has changed, however, is my enthusiasm for starting new projects and collections. End of last year, I planned to start a Lumineth Realmlord collection and even bought myself a box of Vanari Wardens to pin down the paint scheme I was hoping to use. I'll admit, even then the Dawnriders were pushing the threshold of what I considered to be reasonable for a box of 5 cavalry, never mind the cost of Teclis. Even at discounted 3rd party prices. Then comes along the Slaanesh release, admittedly a beautiful range of models but just not what I would collect, and the staggering price for the new Seekers. Then I think about the upcoming not-kangaroo tree runners and quickly think: Nope! I took some time to think about where my projects were and finally made the decision to shelve my Lumineth Realmlords and Daughters of Khaine projects (in total it equates to 30 models), consolidate what I already have and focus more of my attention on my combination of Nighthaunt, Fleasheaters and Bonereapers. Will I buy into the upcoming Quest and rumoured Vampire release? Probably, I've always had a place in my heart for the undead, but dropping the two Elven projects seems to be a form of damage limitation. Would I like to support Games Workshop and buy my models directly from them? Of course, but they would need to drop their prices and expectations before I could justify the cost. Maybe not as much as 3rd party retailers, but not at the current prices they are pushing. For UK prices, 10% reduction, maybe rounding down to the nearest £ and I think I would willing support my bricks and mortar store. With head math, that would make the new Seekers £37 . Still expensive, but not quite as bitter a pill to swallow.
  7. Well, where to begin? I suppose one of the biggest positives with the hobby for me is that I only focus on the collecting aspect of the hobby, and due to my own borderline compulsion, aim to collect full Grand Battalions of the factions I collect. For example; I've got enough models to qualify for a minimum-sized Nighthaunt Procession, and I'm now working on maxing out each unit size. Yes, this may mean I'm staring down the barrel of another 80 Chainrasps, but I've slowly been collecting secondhand 'lots' of the buggers to salvage, clean and paint for a change of pace. Y'know, as opposed to clipping them off a sprue before painting... I also have similar plans for a Sacrosanct Chamber (own most of the models for minimum-sized units), Daughters of Khaine Warcoven and also a scaled down Teclian Vanguard. Shamefully, I may also have similar plans for Ossiarch Bonereapers and Flesheater Courts. I have an idea for a Red and Blue contrast between Order (red palette) and Death (blue palette). Ok, it's ambitious and a lot to do all at once, but the variety of models and paint schemes prevents me from getting burned out, and aside from anime/manga and anime related fanfaction, I don't get much time to entertain anymore hobbies. In addition to the model compulsion, the hobby gives me a chance to listen to music; which I'll admit has mainly been Girls Und Panzer playlists and soundtracks from the Final Fantasy games for the sake of nostalgia, and my own fanfiction to see if they make relative sense. Speaking of which, another project I have started is to re-create the tanks/schools from Girls Und Panzer, which has fast become another unhealthy infatuation, using mainly Bolt Action 28mm scale tanks and specialised decals. And now for the future: The new Lumineth release has jump-started my inspiration to finally put some paint on my Wardens, who along with the Daughters of Khaine, I have been putting off because they look fiddly. As much as I like the Tolkein/Celtic design of elves from the past, the new direction is putting me in mind of Shinto, which pairs nicely my interest in Anime and Manga. And finally, if I ever find a lack of inspiration, I like looking through the Gallery, Topics and Collections of other members on this community to give me a little boost. Not sure how many pages back it is now, but I always find the 5000pts Owners Club topic uplifting, as well as the Monthly Painting Contract and Tale of X Gamers.
  8. As much as I'd love to see GW expand the Sylvaneth range with more plant-based creatures, they've certainly got the tree aspect pinned down but there's potential with mandrakes/alaraune for example, my top pick would be a large carnivorous plant similar to Audrey from Little Shop of Horrors.
  9. Lets see... Paint: 8 Myrmourn Banshees (yes, more of them...) 1 Knight-Incantor (same scheme but no silvers...) 5 Sisters of Slaughter 5 Witch Aelves Hopefully: Undercoat my Wardens if not start painting
  10. Cutting it close but I'm calling it complete Gotta say, those Daughters of Khaine are a fantastic change of pace. At first, I was reluctant due to their relative small size when compared to Stormcast and Nighthaunt , but I managed to keep my ambitions in-line with my abilities. I think a nice pastel blue will work nicely for the the mutations of the Melusai and Khinerai
  11. I present; WIP of my Myrmourn (the one in the middle is how they should look when complete) 5 Sisters of Slaughter (loved painting these ladies and the Witch Aelves are going well. I'm glad I've went for a unified bases across both my Death and Order armies, though impractically armoured bikinis are hardly proper attire for snowy tundra) 1 28mm Churchill (surprisingly fun to paint, and I look forward to painting up some Matildas) Still need to do some work on photographing bright models on a dark background...
  12. An impressive achievement! The freehand, in particular, is quite spectacular, and I like the balance between individuality for each unit but still creates a cohesive army.
  13. @RocketPropelledGrenade Really liking the bone, gold and blue on the Ossiarch. Were you inspired by Tomb Kings or just a coincidence? @Sonnenspeer Y'know, the more I see the orange and pastel blue scheme for Lumineth the more appealing it becomes. Have you had any thoughts what colours you may make the horses if you paint up some Dawnriders?
  14. So, my last post was relatively optimistic, but last week was in the vein of 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Initially, I made some good progress with my Dracoth, readying myself for the metalics when my bottle of Army Painter Platemetal dripped it's last drop. Not too worry, I had a new bottle ready for such an occasion. Or so I thought... So, whilst I'm in the process of sourcing a similar shade of metal which I haven't already rejected or isn't waiting on stock, I've busied myself with building some Daughters of Khaine and undercoating my salvaged Myrmourn Banshee. I this regard, I shall revise my pledge as such Paint: 2 Lord Celestants on Dracoth 5 Liberators 5 Sisters of Slaughter 5 Witch Aelves 8 Myrmourn Banshees Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised to receive my Girls Und Panzer decals much earlier than anticipated and have completed my Churchill for the elegant Saint Glorianas. One of the reasons I've avoided 40k is that I've never been overly enthusiastic about vehicles, but this was a nice change of pace and I look forward to cracking out some of the more characterful tanks of Ooarai. Photos will follow this weekend. Happy painting!
