  1. Anything by Josh Reynolds Richard Strachan is also pretty decent. If you want something a bit more like Fehervari does in 40K, check out Jake Ozga - absolutely amazing stuff. Horror imprint has also nice AoS stuff (Dark Harvest, Castle of Blood) And, Godeater's Son, one of the best Chaos books out there.
  2. The Realmgate Wars was absolute garbage. Both rulebooks and novels, I'm really surprised the series survived that. I don't think I've ever read worse fantasy novels than those. It was a pure product-push material by GW. Even usually amazing writers such as Wraight and Reynolds were lost as what to do with it. This has always been one of the main GW issues. They use BL to sell plastic crack rather than use it to build interesting stories and create characters. Luckily, it's getting better. There's a potential for a decent story-telling. Richard Strachan is, in a way, taking over Reynolds, and there are promising writers (Jake Ozga and now French joining AoS as well).
  3. Keeping it to AoS only, I have to go with Josh Reynolds. He was pretty much the only one making the damn setting interesting at the beginning. The atrocity they did with the The Realmgate Wars series... Those were one of the trashiest fantasy books I've read in my life. From the current writers, I would pick Richard Strachan. His prose is one of the best from the AoS writers. The second one would be Jake Ozga. He only wrote a few short stories and one novella, but he's incredibly talented and proves AoS can be more than just your generic fantasy setting. I have high expectations for his first AoS novel (nothing announced but I do hope he's writing one).
  4. Good luck to everyone who's going to participate.
  5. Whoa, calling Dominion top BL book. That's pretty strong. I'd say it's a generic AoS novel, forgot all about it in the next few days. Unfortunately, none of the AoS novels impressed me enough to list it as my top AoS BL reads. It mostly ranges from mediocre to a decent pulp. However, there are some short story hidden gems. Strong Bones and A Tithe of Bone by Michael R. Fletcher. Sadly, this is very likely everything we're getting from Michael. The deal he was offered by BL wasn't good enough. I still strongly recommend these stories and if you like his style, check out his non-WH stuff. Well worth it. And the third one is Into Dark Water by Jake Ozga. Something completely different, far from bolter ******. It shows what kind of stories are possible in AoS if the writers aren't forced to promote new plastic toys.
  6. One thing we have to consider, it's less work for GW to sell in bulk to LGS rather than directly to customers. We don't know how expensive it is for GW to store everything, manage it and ship it. It might be easier for them to simply forward it to retailers to take care of that. Many companiesdo that.
  7. That's not that bad. The thing is, you can usually get non-GW products on sales. I got Nemesis for 80$ recently. Guess we have to wait and see
  8. What price tag should I expect? I'm worried GW is going to milk it as much as they can. I expect at least $200 and that's a big no for me and our group.
  9. As someone who doesn't play the game, only buys miniatures from time to time to paint, I'm even done doing that. They are simply asking too much for a piece of plastic. Many of my friends who've been playing the game since 3rd edition (40k) feel the same and can't justify spending that much. Some of these guys don't have to worry about money, they make 200k+ a year, yet even for them it's reached the point they said it's too much.
  10. Not much really happens for like 80-90% of the book and then it abruptly, quite predictably, ends. I love Reynolds WH stuff but this one is one of his weaker ones.
  11. Unfortunately, this is not how it works. They can't sell the goods to you without charging you the UK 20% VAT and now since they're no longer part of the EU, you have to pay the import VAT, whatever your country charges, usually 21% for most European countries. What I'm curies, if this applies to orders straight from GW as well. This is what they say at their website "Good news โ€“ Warhammer fans in the EU wonโ€™t have to pay more for our products in-store or online as we head into the new year. While the details of the UKโ€™s future relationship with the EU are still being worked out, Games Workshop will shoulder any customs and duties fees that apply to your order." This would be very strange if they would take care of the import tax charged by the individual countries. Has anyone from the EU ordered anything from GW this year? I'm debating whether to even go for the upcoming LEs this week. The extra 21% on top of already-overpriced books is simply too much
  12. The setting is very likely years away but it gets me thinking, are we going to see old Fantasy novels reprinted? I feel that would be a bit strange since they are still releasing Warhammer Chronicles. Or maybe we're going to get new novels? I just hope they've learned from the previous settings and if they are going to start publishing new novels, it's not going to be the garbage the Realmgate War novels were.
  13. It was an alright novella. Too much action for my taste, especially having limited number of pages, not that much room left for anything else. I would love to read more about Ossi politics, hierarchy, etc. I was disappointed Fletcher didn't get to write it, his two Ossi short stories are one of the best AoS stories. I'm still hoping he gets to write more about them.
  14. Lack of BL novels and proper AoS novel series is not making me happy. Not sure if I want to spend that much money on 72 pages of lore. I hope BL will pick up with AoS novels in 2021
  15. I've been working on a list/excel sheet, to say. I should be done with it by the end of the week (just a list of novels/shorts), I can upload it here later on if you're interested. You probably know about it, but I also recommend Goodreads.com it seems AoS is not getting any love there (ratings/reviews numbers) but it's a great source.
