  1. Hey thanks for that! I was actually just looking to see if there was a rule or rules explicitly against it. I love the idea of someone walking through the woods and out of nowhere, they get ambushed by someone jumping from the trees; or the possibility of fighters jumping from branch to branch swinging on each other. I think I will go by "if it stays it plays". How much did you angle grind off your set?! 😳🤣
  2. One of the war bands I play (for fun) is Haunts, and I am not being biased at all here, but I think Flying is fine the way it is. There is already several war bands who have "fly" abilities that are doubles, so essentially making it another "Universal" takes away from the tactical advantages war bands need to function properly IMHO. Units that do fly as part of their innate ability is calculated in at a very fair price. Yes, "ignoring" terrain is very powerful in movement, but there are ways to tie them up and deal with it. They still have to disengage so you can pin them against terrain, and several other rules still affect their movement so it's not terrible enough to warrant making or changing the rule. Other models are able to climb any distance and can still affect other elevations without adding another rule as well. I say leave this one completely as is.
  3. I started out with two boxes, and converted a few things. Since you do not need another Thrallmaster and its model is so specific, it is hard to convert. I actually sold mine online. I never see myself using a second Luminate, so I converted my second one into another Mindbound with Double Sword by cutting the edges off the Luminate Blade and gluing some sword blades in its place. Turned out great. As far as converting pieces go, two boxes will give you everything you will ever need to play with. I wouldn't worry about crafting too many new things unless you are going for a specific theme. My favorite 1K list is: Thrallmaster, Luminate, Mirrorblade/Glaive x2, Mirrorblade/Swords x2, Mindbound/Swords x2 for 1K even. This is a very balanced list and has a lot of damage output. The Mindbounds are literally fodder to tie up big guys for a turn. I use the Mirrors/Sw as "Recall Bombs" where you drop them right beside an opponent who has finished activating, use a double to bump them up to 6A with "Onslaught" and shred your opponent to smithereens with 12As total. Its nazzzzteee. I have yet to fail killing a mid-range or weaker opposing character in one turn with that combo. I use my Glaives more as "kites" instead of bombs. I try to position them in such a way that they can do some combination of Attack/Disengage or Disengage/Attack - optimally drawing them into the TM or Mirror/Sw models. What is everyone's favorite ally choice with Cyphers? In larger games, mine is the Myrmidon, in 1K games it's the Bray Shaman. In larger games, the Myrmidon is just an absolute beast, and fits us very nicely. He is fast, he has reach, high toughness/wounds, awesome Damage output and that base size allows you to tie up several people at once! I don't even worry about his abilities as I just "Onslaught" with him most the time. You will rarely use them, except for the occasional "Berserk". He's just an awesome block of stats for his points for Cyphers. Bray Shaman offers so much board control for this list, he will just flat-out win games for you. A Double for his "Devolve" ability has so much utility in a warband like ours that relies on movement shenanigans, he will never cease to amaze you with what he manages to accomplish. He is also a great tie up piece for their fodder units at T4 and 25W so I am never afraid to run him up just to keep them at bay.
  4. I will be hosting an event in the near future and one of the things I would like to do as part of the promotion is to create a "Ruling FAQ" for the people who will be playing. Warcry is still relatively new, and I would just like to hear some of the most complex rules questions people still have aside from any FAQs released to date. The purpose of this thread is NOT to argue rules. I just want to know the situations so I can be prepared for them and have answers for my players ahead of time so there are no surprises. If you can take just a minute to post a suggestion, I would GREATLY appreciate you! Thanks so much!
  5. Hello everyone! New to the forum! Old school gamer that's been around TTGs since the early 90s. Searched out a Warcry specific forum because my friends and I are starting a WC-specific community in our Knoxville, Tennessee area, and I just want to be able to bounce ideas off other enthusiasts! I am not a "super poster" but I hover around reading other people's stuff and looking at your hobby pics. Warcry, IMHO, is the absolute best thing to come out for TTGs since Mordheim (my first true TTG love), but, by modern standards, is completely superior. I absolutely love everything about it and its forum will be where you find me most of the time. My current warbands are Cypher Lords (could you tell?😁), Nighthaunts and Ogres. I want to build an Order warband but haven't decided on what I want to build yet. The new Khainites look really nice and seem to be a Cypher Lord/Untamed Beast lovechild - but we can discuss that later. Thanks so much for reading my intro and I look forward to chatting with everyone. If you are in the Knoxville area, follow me! We will get together and throw some dice!
  6. For those of you who own or have used Souldrain Forest, how do you "rule" on using the trees during the game? Do you use the "if it stays it plays" general table-top gaming rule, or do you say "no" to allowing models in the trees at all? If you allow it, what are some of the understandings you use, or some of the issues you have had to resolve? Im just wondering. I recently purchased Souldrain and painting it up. My buddies and I have play a few games on it, and we have been allowing models in the trees, but if we use it at a tournament or something, I would like some ideas as to any potential complications. Thanks so much! See you around the forums!
