  1. As an update, I've painted a Lord of Blights, Festus, and another 5 Blight Kings (total of 15 now). I've nearly finished the drones. The pusgoyles are partially compete- the riders are complete, the fly isn't. Will post again at the end of the month.
  2. Based on the AOS tournament over the weekend at my FLGS, there were 22 players and 3 Kragnos in lists. In total there were 5 Destruction players with each one owning a Kragnos. I'm pretty sure everyone in my shop who has a non- Krule Boyz Destruction army has him except me. That is because my Ogors are only 1,000 points. I'm debating about getting him but want to finish my Nurgle first.
  3. I'd say go for the Glottkin!!! You can get in some games and then save up for the GUO later. The Glotts are cheaper $$$ wise and more points so you get more bang for your buck starting the army up. It doesn't look like you're going for Befouling host right out of the gates.
  4. I finished painting Festus and my Lord of Blights. I've finished the riders from the drones and pusgoyles. I've just got to finish the actual mosquito they ride on. I picked up some tufts for basing too so I'm doing more than astrogranite and nurgle blight. Some brown grass will complete the bases.
  5. I've found Tzeentch to be a fun game. For 1,000 points here is what I use (I have a couple of Marauder units and Iron Golems to choose from though) Ravagers: (all models with the Mark of Tzeentch) Sorcerer Lord on Manticore (270) - General, Master of Deception, Mark of the High Favored; Whispers of Chaos Sorcerer Lord on foot (135) - Bolstered by Hate; Mask of Darkness 1 units of warriors with Shields (200) 1 units of Knights w/ Lances (170) 1 unit of Knights w/ Lances (170) Chaos Spawn (55) With the Mark of Tzeentch, you can reroll some saves so you're more resilient. Mark of the High Favored allows you extra space for your auras on your lord. Whispers is good for pinning large units in place. With the foot sorceror, you have the option of casting Mystic Shield or Mask if you need to move elsewhere on the board. When I play this list, I like to summon more bodies so I get a unit of marauders to sit on my back objective or I'll put them on an objective on the flank to get the points. At 2,000 points I like to have a couple of units that are designated as Hammers or Anvils. The Warriors w/ shields are pretty good anvil units but you need something like Varanguard or Archaon as a strong hammer unit. My old Slaves army was based on the Mark of Tzeentch. With the latest points updates, its just over 2,000 points so I need to reconfigure it. It won more games than it lost but you had to play cagey with it - even moreso if Archaon dies. I like to keep the Manticore close but not too close. Use the Warriors to hold objectives, Knights to contest, and Varanguard to take them. Archaon needs to stay near the Chaos Lord so if he does fight, he can fight again. Archaon Sorceror Lord on Manticore Sorcerer Lord on Foot Chaos Lord Varanguard Knights Warriors
  6. 1. Prices increasing with each new release. Well, I accept certain inalienable truths: prices will rise, politicians will philander, you too will get old - and when you do you'll fantasize that when you were young, prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders. Respect your elders 2. Rules bloated. It sometimes takes more than 4 books / releases to have all of the rules together. Other than the rule book, the Handbook, the Army book, the app, and the campaign book, what am I missing? Its almost like playing D&D back in 2nd edition and the 8 handbooks you need to create a character. 3. Power level increasing with new releases, leaving older armies behind. I don't think any of my armies have been left behind. Other than some of the main changes in the rulebook. I mean, I think some things like Ogor's ignoring the rules for having 6 models part is all that I think needs to be done. Otherwise, Nurgle, STD, and Soul Blight appear to be doing OK. 4. GW basically neglecting certain factions, which just don't get anything new and up to date. I thought 40K came through and had a lot of really rapid changes. I mean, 8th was a short edition. I mean, 3rd edition lasted some 6 years and 8th was about half that time. I'm worried they will have a 10th edition because they are almost done with all of their races. AOS has been slower because of major shipping delays. I figure if the Company I work for can't buy product and get it unloaded timely then I believe the shipping delays are real. That and my grocery store has about 2-3 empty aisles like no Gatorade or pasta or chicken.5. Models being locked behind paywalls, or big box sets, for a long period of time. I haven't had that happen to me. There is nothing I need so bad that would drive me to buy a box unless I wanted everything in it. For Custodes, why not get more terminators :). For Ogors, why not get another Soul War box. 6. FAQ debacle. I'm afraid I don't know what the debacle is. It appears that we get much more frequent updates and they are free on the website. About 20 years ago you had to either a) have the White Dwarf article in hand (photo copies not permitted because people were doctoring them up) or b) buy the annual Chapter Approved book that collected all of the rules from the White Dwarfs over the last year. 7. Massive FOMO Honestly, I buy what I want, when I want it. The only thing I made sure to buy when it came out because my wife and brother enjoy the game as well is Cursed City/Warhammer Quest. I was a bit shocked that they didn't reprint them or announce they would do that when the game was released but as much as I saw people complaining about it online, I still saw a copy at my FLGS. While it may have been limited online, it was definitely pushed to retailers.
  7. Admittedly, I'm probably not normal with this but I picked up the last 4 armies because of my illness. I've got Crohn's Disease. So playing a game at a shop was difficult. So I decided to go for a very elite army. I picked up Custodians. Very detailed, very hero oriented, spent a lot of time on each model. Easy to move around the table, not too much happens. If have to step away to the bathroom, I'm not worried about moving tons of models around. Next army, as my illness progressed I picked up Death Guard. For no reason other than I wanted to play an army that looked like how I felt. Pox Walkers, guts, etc. Then I had my surgery a year ago - I figured I'd just continue with the theme since I'm more akin to a Blight King than anyone else here 😜 I mean, unless anyone else has their intestines hanging out of the abdomen. Prior to getting sick though, I liked to play either a) horde armies (Soulblight/LoN or Imperial Guard) or b) fast moving and hard hitting (Dark Angels/ Space Wolves or Ogor Kingdoms).
  8. My first list is going with mortals. I plan to do the Glottkin, Festus, Lord of Blights, 3 units Blight Kings, and 1 unit Pusgoyles. For summoning, I plan on getting Nurglings or a unit of Plague Bearers to hold objectives. For a Befouling Host, I would go with: GUO, Horticulux, Poxbringer, 20 Plague Bearers, and the rest beasts of nurgle. I've seen a number of people underestimate the beasts. They deal MWs on the charge and when they break off and charge the next unit. They have a fair share of attacks so they can stack up disease tokens. Also if you get toads, they are cheaper from FW than actual beasts and are the same size!
  9. I've got the following on my plate this month: 3 Drones, 2 Pusgoyles, 3 Nurglings, and a Lord of Blights. If I can find one, a Gnarlmaw. I'm also going to order the Glottkin and another box of Blight kings. My first army will be Glottkin, Lord of Blights, Festus, 3 Blight King units, and 1 pusgoyle unit to start. Eventually, I'll move to a GUO with a bunch of Beasts and Plague Toads as Beasts. First though, I want my mortals to get the hang of the army. Ive never built or painted this time of year because it's "Busy Season" and Accountants gotta account! My new company's fiscal year is the same as GW's (June to May) and is a 52/53 week year end. I'm going to try to hit my goal but it is quarter end this month. This work from home, not working an average of 60 hours per week, and non public accounting job is nice after 15 years of balls to the wall deadline, deadline, deadline, work, work, work! on top of that Crohn's has killed me over the last 5 years. All I could do was work, sleep, and meds. Now after 5 years, I have the energy to paint models again!!!
  10. I didn't post a picture, but I exceeded my initial expectations for painting models. With my "New Year, New Army", I chose Maggotkin because I like their elite play style. So for month 1, I painted up: 20 plague bearers, 10 Blight Kings, a Scrivner, a Poxbringer, and Festus. Next month, it will be bigger stuff. I'm planning to build and paint the following next month: 3 drones, 3 nurglings, 2 Pusgoyles, and a Lord of Blights. My stretch will be a Gnarlmaw too, if I can find one. Not sure why but I've never painted an army this fast. I saw some videos on glazing and just went for it! I'm going to go back to my Soul Blight after I finish Nurgle. I've got a bunch of big characters to paint for Soul Blight (VLoZD, Cursed City, Belledama, the other Big Guy).
  11. Absolutely loving this army! I play Slaanesh Slaves to Darkness too but I went with blues and yellows. I absolutely love this army!
  12. I couldn't agree more! I feel like we need more synergies! I want more options to field my army.
  13. I would be happy with new models! Heck, even the Sartosa vampires would be something I could get behind. They are popular in the computer game and a shooty death army hasn't been seen since the Tomb Kings packed up and left the realms. More ways to play but skeletons are skeletons. Though if given the option, I would like to see heavily armored vampires with armor similar to the Von Carsteins. I could get behind a unit of thrall vampire warriors led by an actual vampire as a unit champion. I would also like to see the Varghulf come back to LON just as a monster for soul blight just similar to chaos spawn but meaner with some intelligence. LoN has a lot of troop varieties, but I would like to see more ways to play based on your general or faction. Ie - lots of skeletons, get a wight king to unlock more bonuses or rules for your army (give a unit -1 rend). Want Soul Blight, get vampire troop units other than vargheists and blood Knights. Play Night and get more scary monsters like werewolves, flesh golems, etc. (who wouldn't want a flesh golem that provided support like the OBR ones- just give me a 4/5+ death save on my zombies or something like that!) Make corpse carts regen d6 zombies or give them an increased save when they are in combat. Just +1 to hit is weak and the carts aren't too effective anymore - make them legit support pieces. Our game has always been about attrition and key elite units to damage the enemy while the battle line absorb the damage.
  14. They might be able to pile in 6" but they still have to be within 3" to pile in. They get extra movement, not extra range on the base rule allowing them to pile in. I was under the impression Icefall Yetis were the only ones capable of piling in 6" out as their rule says specifically says so. Even with that rule yetis aren't great. Otherwise, give him a conga line and remove models so they cannot attack a second time. With Death, I usually play Sacrament and debuff the heck out of my enemies. I would also use spells like prison of grief, fading vigour (d6 charge), spectral grasp (half movement), etc. from death mages. Also, using Arkhan to kill screening units allows you to resurrect destroyed units if they are near grave sites. Snag a couple of cheap zombie units so you can take advantage of your own screen. You may have more drops than him but multiple units of cheap zombies allows you to screen your own army. He did 20 wounds to something? Shoot, now he has nothing left to attack in his second activation. Put your grave sites near places you know his screens will go - objectives, etc but not so far you can't reach them and not so close he is going to camp on that and an objective. With Night, it would be fun if you let him come to you and you could set up in ambush and force him to spread out. A couple of key units in his back field will force him to hold back. Especially if they are riding on dragons. You can also try a coven throne as Beguile prevents a unit from attacking them if you roll higher than their Bravery on 3d6. Just have to make sure he doesn't gang up on you. The mortal wounds from the spectral host are nice.
