Assassin (Adjutant)
Allied Tidecaster
BATTLELINE
Darkshards
Freeguild Crossbows
Freeguild Guard
Executioners (Honoured Retinue)
OTHERS
Corsairs
Drakespawn Knights
Shadow Warriors
2 x Dark Riders
Freeguild Greatswords
ALLIES
Namarti Thralls
Allopex
It comes to 2000. I’m thinking Misthavn for the flanking (but average magic), Anvilgard Black Market for the extra loot. Thoughts?
-
Sounds like a Misthavn plan to me!
-
I have amassed a miscellaneous ton of fantasy and AoS now and would love to use as much of it as possible in the same army!
I have -
the makings of a fair quantity of Freeguild - crossbows, handguns, guard, greatswords
Shadow Warriors, Darkshards, some handbow Corsairs
Some Bretonnian Questing Knights
A classic Manticore w various possible riders. Could star as Griffin, Phoenix, even titchy black dragon?!
Old HE Swordmasters - considering using them as themselves via Eldritch Council FAQ, as Executioners or Bladelords
DoK - 10 Doomfire Warlocks, Shadowstalkers
IDK - Thrallmaster, Tidecaster, Thralls, Allopex
A big selection of elven and human foot heroes including a Calligrave
Would love advice as to what City / build would be best for taking as much as the above as possible at 2000 pts

I agree that the popularisation of 3 types seems unhelpful in its effects. Back in 6th it felt like everyone was interested both in lore and rules, now the general vibe often seems one or the other
Might also be a result of less characterful mad lore-based comedy rules? Less elaborate magic items etc customisation? More emphasis on nigh on compulsory special characters?

I was on a lot of Warhammer forums mostly in 6th edition and there was far more lore discussion and far more writing, both fiction and narrative battle/campaign reports. I think one of the paradoxes of a looser setting is it makes people’s stories less mutually engaged, and technology has also played a role…

It’s interesting that so many of you answer 100% narrative (so would I, 1000%) and yet most discussion here focuses on rules / tactics / combos
Coming back to the hobby after a 15 year hiatus, I wonder if the shift from narrative written to video battle reports has at least something to answer for?

Must say don’t think Nippon is in any way an innately less original name than Cathay…or indeed Araby, Sylvania or the Empire, with Bretonnia, Tilea and Estalia not far behind…

Yes but less cool
-
Something amuses me about the lone Scourgerunner chariot’s crew snarking at all the shiny aelves
Are SG artefacts still maddeningly just for Collegiate not the general?
-
Undoubtedly cool and thematic!!
-
And it’s definitely thematic, currently at least!
-
I think that list just looks so cool and thematic. Shadowstalkers, Idoneth allies, just wow. Suspect not necessarily competitive but tbh when at this level of interesting and unusual who cares!!!

Not yet, just for Malfleur the Prophetess!
-
Behold the arms and styles of Mahalte Lamorel, Duchess of Bryshavon and of the Daughter, Mistress of the Manticaura, Protectress of Nimue, Amethyst Battlemage of the Collegiate Arcane in Lethis, ruler in Shyish, Ulgu and Hysh, etc etc; called by some traitors 'the Basemage'

I’m really tempted by Mage on Griffon in Excelsis with lovely retro amber spells...
-
Build second Black Dragon as a Dreadlord
The 7-8 Assassins (respect btw!) could be Shadow Warriors, allied DoK Khainite Shadowstalkers with another model or two found somewhere (one of your Sorceresses or Witches as a Shroud Queen? Or just one or two of your miscellaneous skirmishers? ), or you could field just one as, er, an Assassin
Use Stormcast rules for your Bolt Throwers
Skirmishers as more Shadow Warriors or Shadowstalkers
Beastmaster on Manticore - hardest but coolest. Could count as Sorc / Dreadlord on Dragon or FG general or even battlemage! on Griffon
I think everyone else can play themselves
Then go Cities with DoK allies and you’re sorted. Now just about makes sense in lore again
Next 500 points depends if you want to stay Dark Elves only or go in a more varied Cities direction? Like if you made the Beastmaster an FG general you could back him up with Freeguild, whether actual humans or elf converted proxies (you could even mess with some of your Cold One knights in some way to represent Demigryphs? Or convert new aelves on demis)
BTW the witches would probably be more effective all fielded as shadowstalkers too!
And - If you don’t mind about losing artillery and don’t want to mix in Freeguild etc, maybe consider Har Kuron to get MORE Shadowstalkers in!!
-
Use ALL your old models with imaginative fun proxying! I will suggest how in more detail when I have time if someone hasn’t already
-
I thought generals weren’t um generally much use unless they were er the general - unless perhaps on Griffon?
-
ANVILGARD ENDURES ahem sorry

-
No black actual dragons?!
-
Guess the Hedonites somehow found the Bretonnian wine 🍷 again!!!

Using my collection

Ok, rethink led me to Har Kuron! After much soul searching, FG crossbows dropped and my most piratey looking humans will proxy as combat Corsairs
