  1. Hi guys, unfortunately I’m having to party with all my Blades of Khorne, Slaves to Darkness and my Beasts of Chaos. US based

Full 2k Warherd army including two Doombulls converted from Ogroids (there are pics in the BoC thread on here near the end), Shaggoth converted from Carnosaur/Ghorgon, 13 Bullgors, 6 Dragon Ogors, 2 Ghorgons, 2 Cygors, 2 chimeras, a cockatrice (might be missing a foot), a Bray Shaman and a custom Beastlord. individual retail is $845 (excluding cockatrice due to possible missing foot), asking $500 shipped in the US

    Blades:

40 warriors, 60 reavers, Mighty LoK w/pup (Khorgas Khul), 13 unnamed heroes (each type is present), Valkia conversion, skaar blood wrath, OOP Scyla, 2 Khorgoroths, 10 Wrathmongers, 5 skullreapers, 9 Might Skullcrushers, blood alter. Retail is about $600, I’d like $350 in the US shipped

    S2D:

40 Khorne Marauders (correct weapons, but Blood Reavers make up the base of the models, 1 SC S2D complete, 10 extra warriors, 3 custom heroes, 1 Warshrine that needs to be stripped (heavy primer). Asking $200 shipped in the US

I agree the Shaggoth desperately needs a new model with new stats, but keep the current base size so I don't have to rebase my old metal one!  I mean the Treelords, Stardrakes, and Mancrushers are all on that size base.  New Centigor dual kit would be super awesome!  As would a massive centaur like god-tier model 🙄

I feel like that’s something GW would be perfectly capable of. Would be awesome to see something like that. Too bad such a model is only wishful thinking right now

    I wonder…Carnosaur body w/Ghorgon torso…

edit: so I legitimately have a Carnosaur lying around and a Ghorgon still on sprue. This fits. Expect a plastic Shaggoth conversion shortly, properly sized.

forgot I can share my beastlord conversion that’s complete

Oh, and I’m sure everyone can see the old BattleMaster Gor in the background. I have 8, can anyone US based help me w/2 or 12 more to finish?

could also be interested in the old BattleMaster Bestigors w/great axes at the right price.

I would run it to have fun.  Warherd is my favourite way of playing Beasts of Chaos.  If you are WAAC it will fall short.  But if you get good with the army and learn the rules of the game you can play and do well with minimal changes.  Perhaps a bit of chaff or some DrOgres or a Shaggoth to support.

Personally I would just run your army as is at what, 1500 points?  Warherd is awesome.

If anyone saw Tyler Mengal's tweet today he compares the Dirgehorn Endless spell to one in the Rumour picture as quite close.  I find it weird if BoC got a book after a WD release that gave them a significant boost.

I said a similar thing when I saw it. I’m hoping for plastic centigors, a plastic cockatrice and a plastic Shaggoth. I’ll post pics of my finished Doombull conversions when I finish. Pretty happy with them so far. Especially the non-wizard one. Ogroids make great conversion fodder.

  5. So looks like I’ve got this now for 2k (just bought 2 boxes of Dr-Ogors):

    doombull

    doombull sorc

    Bullgors x3 (GWs)

    bullgors x3(Add. HW)

bullgors x3 (either GW or AHW)

    Bullgors x3 (unbuilt)

    ghorgon x2

    cygor x2

    cockatrice

    sphyrinx

    dragon ogors x3

    dragon ogors x3

    grashrek’s despoilers

    shaman

    2k on the dot.

I like my Great Axe Bullgors in units of 3, and my axe/shield Bullgors in a unit of 9 (as they're meant to be more tanky).  I might also recommend allying in a Mindstealer Sphiranx or two, as they help the Warherd to their work before the enemy can strike back.  The Wildfire Taurus spell is also good at that, but relying on magic (that you have to pay extra for) isn't always the best bet.

I have found the very cheap Cygor to be useful just for unbinding attempts, and it's caused some handy MW on a few occasions, and it's good for doing the Primordial Call Monstrous Action, letting the Ghorgon do it's thing.

I do have a Sphyrinx, as well as the full S2D line. I can work that in. Maybe a Fomoroid Crusher too?

are Bullgors worth anything w/dual weapons? Rerolling 1s? Or is that a waste in 3.0?

I have 10 Bullgors, so I made it so I could switch one champion out. Great weapons or dual wielding.

Warherd is good. I wouldn't leave home without at least 12 bullgors (2 squads of 6), and typically run 18 (+dragon ogres and chaff). Cygor leaves something to be desired but the Ghorgon isn't bad if you can get it into the right units. I also usually give my Doombull the Arcane tome so having a wizard version works pretty well.

Sounds good, so I’m off to a decent start. I actually have two chimeras as well, a cockatrice, the despoilers warband, a beast Lord and a shaman. Plus 8 old Gors from the Battlemasters game (need 2 more for a chaff unit)

  8. How worthwhile is a Warherd based army?

just bought 3 units of Bullgors, 4 Ghorgon/Cygors (2 of each), and beautifully converted each version of Ogroids into Doombulls (one with magic item to become a sorcerer). I didn’t really get it to be powerful on the table, I just really wanted an army of Minotaurs on the display shelf, and if it’s playable as well, all the better

  9. I own one GUO w/ a bell and flail

    50 Plaguebearers

    9 Plague Drones

    9 Nurgling bases

    Epidemius

    sloppity and scrivener

    Wurmspat

obligatory S2D units like Archaon, Belly, etc.

can I make a worthwhile list with this? Or do you need mortals or Horticulus to function?

  10. So, I haven’t bought the book yet. Wanting some thoughts first. I loved the idea of fielding Skaven Pestilens in my MoN army, but coalition rules hit that hard, and some random info online may have nuked it.

Is there any value at all to Verminlord Corruptors or Plague Catapults? Do they still work towards things like Epidemius’s tally? Or plague drones near a daemon hero of Nurgle? I asked in the Skaven thread, but the Skaven rules didn’t change. The Maggotkin rules did. So here is better. Trying to determine if the Skaven stuff is worth holding, or if it’s just shelf stock now.

I believe you can take up to 1 unit for every 3 or 4 maggotkin units in your army.

Although our pestilence units currently are a coalition unit, and from what I understand, they do not benefit from the allegiance ability the maggotkin provide, at all.

So no plague monks with a 5+ ward

Yeah, that’s what I was curious about. Do they still benefit/contribute to things like Epidemius’s tally? I’m sure the V-Lord Corruptor still has his GD/Nurgle keywords, but if he no longer contributes to tally or daemon of Nurgle abilities, my Skaven models might as well go up for sale.

  12. So I’m not up on 3.0 like at all…how badly does this hit Archaon? I get that he loses exploding 6’s in Slaanesh, can’t teleport in Lurid Haze, etc.

In things like Tzeentch, how is he affected? Can you no longer use destiny dice on him? If so, that army is dead and buried.

im asking here because he is useable by HoS and the other threads are nowhere near as active

  13. Sigvald is a hunter killer missile. Point, click, destroy and expect him to be wiped in retaliation. He’s a one-use nuke. Have other general(s). At 1k, he can cripple an army on his own in Lurid Haze if used correctly.
Use Hellstriders as battleline for long objective steals, Sigvald as a missile, Synessa and Masque as other generals, Cogs to give Syn an extra spell or Sigvald more range, and two Hellstrider units for objectives. It’s not a lot, but it should blend pretty well at that point size.

    A few thoughts:
1-Even though you loose the command trait, I would consider picking Be'lakor as the general. He would benefit a lot from the 5+ Ward for being a daemon prince general (he is quite weak to mortal wounds and he gives a victory point to opponent if he dies).
2-Since Mask of Darkness is so unreliable, I would consider giving the Khorne Daemon Prince the Amulet of Destiny (if he is not the general) or the DoomBringer blade (which is quite good in the Monster Hero meta) instead of using the artefact slot for arcane tome.
3-With the latest white dwarf update for cultists battleline, instead of the 30 marauders, I could see an argument for:
    10xUntamed Beasts
    10xUntamed Beasts
    10xIron Golems
    10xIron Golems
    new list total: 1995/2000

I’d also like to suggest maybe the Chaos Lord would be better replaced by the Sorcerer Lord, I’d you’re going competitively. Most people swear combining him with Archaon.

Yeah the problem is they'll get there sure, but then what? That's to far away for any of our buffs so best case scenario you've shoved 20 warriors into their line that HOPEFULLY don't immediately die.

Play to the Blood Tithe. Throw ten warriors, they fight when they die so you always get their attacks. Throw them at a wizard or something, or a target they’re likely to simultaneously wipe each other. Get the points, build toward a Thirster. Or army buffs. I’m not expecting them to kill an army on their own. That would be insane. But a 26” range does effectively control where your opponent puts characters, and everything eventually falls under the weight of dice.

with the way battalions work now, Khorne (sadly) should be all about the MSU and weight of dice. Hordes of Bloodthirsty cannibals that die to bring about boosts and Thirsters.
