  1. I’m here for pity. I just painted up a scinari cathallar, and on our first path to glory campaign day she got BEHEADED by a vampire and is now perma-dead. That is all.
  2. Hey, can someone explain thé Dragged Down and Torn Apart rule for zombies to me please? Can they just walk into combat without charging? Like if the move up within 6 during the movement phase, can they then activate and pile-in in the combat phase? To avoid « overwatch » etc. Thanks!
  3. Hey again! sorry forthe slow reply! I put most of the work into the armor, so I try to keep the rest of the model as simple as possible. To answer your questions: 1. The skin is just guilliman flesh over grey seer, Thats all! Be sure to apply the grey seer in very thin coats, to get opacity without obscuring the delicate details. like you siad, they dont show much flesh, so I dont mind taking the time for multiple thin coats. 2. I use a bottle of vallejo turquoise paint, not surer of the actual name as the label is peeled off, but its very similar to GW Thunderhawk blue. And thats all, i paint it on, then mix with off white to build up volumetric highlights, and then glaze over it in the original colour to obscure the messy jumps in shade. Couldnt be easier! 3. I use regular black for the oil wash, but burnt umber could work too. I have been experimenting using JUST oil washes to paint over white primer, its super fun and messy, so I use it on my nighthaunt!
  4. Wow. Yikes. Jesus, what a compliment! Thank you SO much! ok, the recipe for the armor is actually not that hard to,do at all, but an airbrush makes it a lot easier. First prime the model black, and then basically réprime it green (I use molotow green). Then spray on the gold in zenithals, I used three shades of scale 75, going from necro gold all the way up to citrine. Just make sure that the original colour is still poking out in the recesses. And then your basically done! I do a very basic edge highlight of the shoulders, helmet and shield with citrine, and then a spot highlight of silver on some random corners. To finish I take some cheap oil paint, mix it with white spirit and then use it to line the recesses. Thanks again for the huge compliment!
  5. Nope, I’m pretty sure you would have to move them to break shining company, and running is declared when you do a move, I believe. So you could move them, break formation and then charge. But I don’t believe you can go directly from shining company to a run move.
  6. Hey all, might be a bit superfluous as I already posted these on Reddit and Facebook, so let me know if I’m over-posting! Anyway, here is my second-unit of wardens, they just had their first game last weekend and did very well, killing a flying-shark-thing and Volturnos! As always, would love any criticisms and critiques about how I can improve my army colour scheme going forward (more spot colour, different bases, enter skin etc). Thanks!
  7. Thanks. I am going up against a really hard hitting Idoneth list this, weekend for my first game. It’s only 600 points, but he will have attack eels, and the special character king to give them extra attacks. I’m thinking my best strategy will be to have a three rank 20 man unit of syar wardens. Accept the charge and buff with the 2+ save, and all out defense. Hopefully enough will survive to hit back, tie them up for a turn or two, which would give me time to get eltharion stuck in, and pepper them with arrows...
  8. So, if I have wardens in a series of ranks, I understand the bases are 32mm, but in ranks they kind of sit in the gap between other bases... so how many ranks can wardens fight in? Assuming it’s against and equally flat ranked enemy... like their range is 3” so 76mm, but two ranks isn’t exactly 64, it’s a little less when they are all nudged in together.... ... who knows maths?
  9. Simple answer for me would be to use light blue on the inner skirt and dark blue on the trim!
  10. With Syar, can I stack Hightened Reflexes on the same unit for +2 to save?
  11. Hey all, I have my first ever lumineth/AoS game this weekend! My list is what you can see in the photos I uploaded earlier, it’s just a small practice game do 600 points. i have Eltharion, 2 Units of wardesn 1 unit of sentinels. Im planning on going zaitrec just because I don’t really have a dedicated wizard and so the extra magic boost will help. Any neat little strategies or tactics that you guys could offer me in advance (spell selections etc).
  12. Thanks. Yeah I really struggled with the bases for this faction. I had originally planned to do marble, but so many models have presculplted trees and rocks that it’d have looked too weird. After that I couldn’t think of a colour scheme to match the force and so I just took the cowardly Grey and white option. I’d love to hear any suggestions you’d have!
  13. Hey all, just discovered this discussion page, and it might be more suitable to post my models here than the other lumineth page. I have painted up this little force for New Year New Army over the past month and a bit. I was going for a darker theme, although I havent decided on a final lore for them yet. I am thinking either a wandering force in Hysh that patrols the darker crevasses, caves and magically cursed parts of their own realm OR a force that is stationed in a forward-operating-base around a realm gate in shyish. Would love any critiques on the painting and the lore! Thanks.
  14. Thanks! It was the most important part for me, I wanted the army to look like this shiny baroque gold that kind of goes from green to pure silver. I think it got better as I progressed through the army, so it’s better one unit of wardens than another etc. As for the high sentinel, yeah I love these sculpts but my one criticism would be the lack of diversity in squad leaders. You can get away with it in the bog-standard rank and file but for the unit leaders, a weapon swap isn’t enough if the both have the same pose, and are on the same base. So I gave the ruin the the sentinel instead of the other high warden!
  15. Thanks, it was actually kind of easy to do, my first time trying anything like that!
  16. Hey all, I have been mostly absent from this forum for a while, and thought I’d post some photos if my Dark/Shyish themed Lumineth army that I painted up in the past month. Let me know what you guys think, I’d love any critiques!
  17. Posting Everywhere because I can’t decide... Originally Blue, but now I’m trying Turquoise, so... Blue or Turquoise ???
  18. Wet blending with contrast is super easy, because you don’t really have to modify the consistency. Get out a practice model and you’ll have it down pat in an hour, you just need to get used to how much paint to load up and how much to feather them together.
  19. Think I’ve finally settled on the gold mix that will be the bases for my army’s armor. note it’s just the gold on the blade itself, the metal connecting the blade to the haft was another mix I tested, but it’s fugly, so please ignore... and this is just the base colour, without pin-shading and highlights that I plan to do on the model itself.
  20. It’s just that in the battle tome there is a designers note stating that it can be used only during the fight phase and not at the beginning of the fight phase.
  21. So our rule to pick two units, are we allowed to pick the first unit of a phase and then again, or just second fighting unit and third?
  22. Somebody really wants overwhelming heat to happen... I’d recommend having at least one back up speed of Hysh because that board movement, when you need it, you will REALLY need it.
  23. Hey all, so I’m gearing towards a core troops army, led by cathallars and perhaps Eltharion from time to time. My question would be how would you guys go about making Syar or Ilithia effective with these forces? It doesn’t need to be ultre-competitive as I generally don’t like rocking min/max style armies, but I also haven’t actually played the game yet due to the virus. Just what would be the best strategies and combinations to get the most out of these factions without becoming a negative experience for my opponent. Thanks!
