    How about d4's? Metal, preferably.

If you're ever playing D&D and use caltrops and your DM uses the Player's Guide value of 1 damage rather than 1d4 damage for caltrops, just get up and leave the table.

  2. I've not particularly cared about these new elves up until now, but I actually like these more cow aligned ones showntoday. If you get rid of all the arches and spears and go all in on cows and hammers, this would be a faction I could get behind.

Do we have any rumours of kits for SoB's? I'm trying to keep my expectations low and just expecting a repackage of the gargant kit and rules like the FEC.

I've heard from a couple of unrelated people that there will be a new giant kit that's quite a bit bigger than the current one.

Talk to pretty much any LFGS owner about AoS' launch and they'll tell you that the original starter boxes were gathering dust.

I remember when when the the original AoS starter box was selling for as low as $50-$60 on Amazon with games stores trying to off load stock. My local shop didn't entirely drop AoS, but once the old fantasy stock was sold the AoS stock took up a small rack on what was a whole wall that WHFB had and now the rest of the space was taken up by a variety of other games. Of course after the GHB, the starter set prices went back up, and at my local shop AoS shelf space slowly expanded and has finally retaken the former WHFB wall.

That's too bad. They really failed with that model compared to the art. On a related note, does anyone else feel like the quality of underworlds warbands often lags the main line of models?

No, in fact I'm a little disappointed that Underworlds is where to much of GW's model making "energy" seems to be going. They could at least have the decency to use the in a skirmish game instead of a board game.

The icons of the map suggest this will be settled around the Age of the Three Emperors. If the game focuses on pseudo-historical humans it will be a hard pass for me.
I know the Gorbad Ironclaw's invasion happened around that era, but I don't remember anything else interesting happening. Of course, if this follows the Middle-Earth BSG  approach, we may be only talking about the first book, with others potentially based on more juicy eras.

My expectation is that we'll be getting different books for different eras with corresponding army lists with maybe some options for open ended pitched battle matched play that doesn't adhere to a theme. Now that there's not really a narrative to pursure MEBSG is probably the closest thing that GW is already doing since even though we know the end result of the Horus Heresy, it's still playing out chronologically for now.

in two weeks though would be a year since Carrion Empire had been release and still no sign of those boxset heroes yet

The Starn's Disciples box for 40k Kill Team came out a year ago and the Kellermorph in the box is just being made available again now coming out on its own.

I'd personally not be keen to purchase a finecast/resin model that was originally sculpted in metal as the sculpt really doesn't work for the different material, but wouldn't have an issue with the more modern resin models (like some of the Black Library special ed ones).

That's basically stance on non-FW resin models. If it was originally metal, I'm going to scour eBay and second hand sites to find it even if GW is selling the resin cast of it and only settle for the resin if it was my only option. I'm currently in the process of tracking down metal Maneaters.

Looks like Nurgle gets it 2.0 treatment in Wrath of the Everchosen.

Not terribly surprising that GW isn't going to jump right back into a new battle tome cycle espcially since they're doing to same with Psychic awakening with 40k instead of new codexes(except new space marines, so maybe we'll see a new Stormcast battletome with stormhost supplements). Either way it's looks like my chances of actually getting this book are going up if it's going to be my nurgle supplement and bring a combined demon army(beyond GA Chaos).

Has Mistweaver Saih always been available on the store by itself or am I just being an idiot?

I don't think she's ever gone away completely. I know she's there since at least about a year ago(or at least was there a year ago when others were gone, whether she disappeared and came back I can't say).

  11. I think I've figured out why the new Seraphon battletome cover doesn't match existing models exactly... it's not real. That's right, it's a fake battletome. In fact, Seraphon are get squatted and this is just an elaborate practical joke by GW to poke fun at lizard lovers one more time.

  12. The new elves look alright, for elves. Though I'm not sold on the new Teclis. The beasty is fine, but he the Teclis pose just looks weird(and that paint job isn't doing it any favors).

Now I'm really looking forward to when the non-Underworlds version of the Underworlds warbands come out. New wolf riders already had me excited and now I can get a plastic sorcerer(without having to get the rest of the Glottkin for it) and a couple extra Blightkings.

whats has  happens to all the Kharadrons Overlord Heroes ? Are they unavailable ?

They're still on the the US store in stock of you search for them, but they don't show up in browse. This is a problem GW's web store has occasionally had for years.

  14. Finally got around to actually reading the book and it looks like GW addressed just about every complaint/request I made in the survey about Kharadron Overlords(hopefully the do the same with my comments about bringing back Mordheim). I don't know if they'll be good since there were some big nerfs(I've got a couple of Aether-khemists that won't be seeing much use now), but that's not as important to me as actually feeling thematic with the lore and background, which this book seems to address. So I think I'll be happy with it once I get it on the table win or lose.

Just speculating, but lets go another direction... What if the Fall of Excelsis is a boxed set/supplement that brings Siege warfare to AOS? AND that’s where the giant(s) come in, as part of some sort of perhaps mercenary siege force? Also gives room for the gorddaak ram?

Maybe GW could go in a direction it's never gone and keep Excelsis at a minute to midnight for the next 20 years where it's always underthreat in the lore, but nothing really changes.

I agree. As much as the concept of Warcry is Chaos focused, I can't imagine GW putting out three years of new Chaos Warbands/supplements for it.  Makes a lot more sense to round out the 8 Points with the next two Chaos Factions/Monsters and then announce a new starter box/sense with a different location and focus.

I think GW saw how far they could drag out the Kill Team releases and are seeing if they can do it even more with WarCry.

I think looking at the Shadowspear box gives us a clue as to how the limited hero models will be released, new Start Collecting boxes

I don't think Shadowspear is applicable here. The reason that Shadowspear is broken up into start collecting is that it's shared sprue starter set(but luckily there were no shared sprues between factions) and the only way to release those models together was in a start collecting. They did the first think with the original AoS starter being broken down into Start Collecting Goreblad warband and thunderstike brotherhood and there's probably a non-zero chance we'll see a similar start collecting death guard and a start collecting primaris when Dark Imperium is superceded if/when 9th ed 40k gets a new starter box and we may even see a start collecting Nighthaunt and sacrosanct once Soul Wars is replaced. That being said, these recent starter boxes, the new hereos have all been on their own sprues and packaged with existing retail models. The Blightwar and Wake the Dead boxes are much more like these AoS boxes we've seen this past year as they have existing units with new heroes and they did eventually see the heroes release, GW just doesn't seem to be in much of a rush.

At this point I just can't guess at a motivation by GW to hold the models back. It would at least make sense if the box sets weren't limited and they were holding the models hostage to push box sales. Unless that's is ultimately what they're doing except in a more sinister way where they don't actually sell the boxes very long, and they're creating this uncertainly about when or if these heroes will ever be released so people will snap up boxes they don't want or need because they don't know if that model will ever be available as a way to guarantee their box sets sell out.

Wow that’s a large culling of the forgeworld range

    leaves

    greater daemons

    legion of azhorh

    gloomspite gitz monsters

    stormcast heads

    and that’s about it

More surprised at the Skaven and  Nurgle stuff leaving than the random monsters that never got a clear faction keyword. I didn't notice when it changed, but it's also nice to see that the rogue idol got the bonesplitterz and ironjawz keywords.

All the monsters going away is really unfortunate as they were some really nice models, but they just never really got put into the game itself very well.

  19. I've been wanting basically and "unnamed Brokk" since KO came out, but GW has pretty much exhausted any enthusiasm or good will from me for new stuff with all these new models basically locked up in large limited box sets, especially given the army size I'm getting this new KO hero will be about as linchpin to the army as the new ghoul hero was for Flesheaters, it which case I probably won't even bother with the book(especially since KO aren't and "you still have fun even when you lose all the time" army like goblins). And with no book, probably non of my planned expansion of my KO army of an ironclad and some more troops, so I guess I should thank GW for saving me a couple hundred bucks. If there was a short reasonable period of exclusivity for the box sets it would fine, but at this point when ever GW announces new heroes in these box sets it elicits an eyeroll from me more than excitement these days. It was already going to be GW-lite year for me and looks to be even more so unless they figure out how to sell individual heroes again. Maybe I can convert a Primaris Lieutenant into this new guy.
