  1. Man, I wish the magazines that come with figs were a thing for the rest of Europe. Even a few third-party places I checked that sell specific issues of them only shipped to UK.
  2. Yeah that's one major thing for me, they're sort of the same damage-dealing role as the Bladegheists - and the Bladegheists are like the coolest-looking NH unit to me, as compared to the lackluster Dreadscythe models.
  3. I was under the impression the Dreadscythes were fairly good? I really don't like the models personally though (it's the damn hair) so I've been trying to sell mine off, without luck (they're from the Court of the Craven King so I didn't specifically buy them).
  4. Well, they're definitely not anything special quality-wise and Soul Wars model are common so my meager efforts certainly won't stand out much as different 😅 Nice models to paint anyway, since they're quick compared to my 40k armies. Biggest annoyance is trying to get rid of the gaps, Bladeguard are especially obnoxious for that I found. That's where my project kinda halted, actually.
  5. You might've seen the army pic in the AoS sub-reddit upon a time if you frequent it. I painted them and posted them there around February, I think.
  6. I think I never did end up posting models here. Since I can't talk about rules much as I STILL haven't gotten around to actually playing - and in general my army project has been standing still for over six months - I guess I might as well show some models at this point, now that it's spooky season starting and all. First pic was my Soul Wars stuff painted. I've started on some other stuff which are mostly undercoated, and completed Olynder minus the banshees, but mostly that's it so far. But I reckoned I'd try to get at least something done for the spooky season right off the bat, so I finally got around to trying some of my basing ideas for the army in practice as per the second picture. Unfortunately I'm not all that happy with the cobblestone, and I guess the "dirt" looks a bit too much like rocks instead. Until I started typing this I forgot I was supposed to try some much finer sand, so we'll see how that works later on. And actually I forgot I had more pics already in an online album over at imgur, it has closeups of the "special" models if you're interested: https://imgur.com/a/UyDyRkc
  7. I had been planning for a 1000-point intro game, but been slacking with the second block of 20 chainrasps as they're only sprayed so far. Now with the Nurgle advisory in effect I figure I might as well aim for painted 1500 points at least especially since I already painted Olynder (well, except for the ugly banshees) from the "second wave" of Nighthaunt purchases, and now am spraying five Bladegheists and further six Grimghasts to bring the latter up to an usable unit status, resulting in said 1500 points. The biggest annoyance with any Nighthaunt unit is the "gaps" between parts, but damn do Bladegheists have it particularly bad. Shame, since they're basically my favorite unit looks-wise - though they would've further benefited from having the chainmail bits like Grimghasts do. I reckon I gotta loan the battletome from someone for the game, as given the state of Nighthaunt and actual age of the tome itself I'm not too inclined to buy it. Although between BattleScribe, Warscrolls and more knowledgeable opponents I suppose the tome isn't even particularly mandatory for a casual game anyway.
  8. It's rather typical that when I finally jump to the AoS side of things I pick a bad army But yeah, if I don't like the aesthetics of the army, it's non-starter given the cost and all. I'm not looking to play competitively, but even so at least having a fighting chance is nice. But maybe it's payback for currently mostly playing marines while trying to get a routine going playing 40k.
  9. Yeah it's simple to do, but given the difference in stature of the model in other ways, it doesn't really look like a Reaper anyway, so I figure might as well keep the weapon as is at least for now. It only gets confusing if the Reaper unit piles into the same combat right next to the Stalkers, while Stalkers are unlikely to be in my lists too much once I get more models. Speaking of which it's a bit sad. The lore-blurb about Stalkers being basically ultimate persistence hunter ghosts is pretty cool, but their rules do seem to let them down which is a shame. I didn't like the models that much at first, but they've grown on me. Seeing something like that relentlessly floating after me would definitely be terrifying indeed.
  10. That in turn still leaves you with 3 unused models though. Basically you'd need 4 of SW/ToS to get an even 20 reapers. Talk about monopose madness and you'd still need to convert extra Extollers with reaper blades. My plan currently is to just have the SW + Warband which leaves me with 9 stalkers and 9 reapers and then I simply use the extra Stalker as a Reaper, not sure I'm gonna even bother converting the weapon. Not like I plan on strict tournaments or such anyway. Another option would be to get Tempest of Souls too and convert two of the extra reapers into Chainghasts, but kinda expensive even if I found someone to sell the Stormcasts to considering the reapers would be the only things I'd have any use for from that box. Too bad official Chainghasts only come with Crawlocke, and given the plethora of Leader options I don't see myself needing two Spirit Torments. But yeah, a discussion y'all veterans must be bored to death of. I just wish I had more budget, so many nice units to buy.
  11. Kind of in the same boat. As it is I haven't played yet and I have the Soul Wars contents only with another 20 rasps coming in the mail. WarCry Nighthaunt warband box, another 4 banshees and Reikenor are more or less certain purchases. And Olynder at some point. On the fence about the battleforce. King is indeed a good miniature, but I'm accumulating sooo many leaders. Plus not such a fan of Hexwraiths or Harridans model-wise. Same with the apparently-popular Spirit Hosts. I definitely want Bladegheists and more Reapers as an option for battleline wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing (model-wise, I'm not sure how good they're considered). I had considering the SC Malignants and Skeleton Horde boxes (the latter would of course include hexwraiths/black knights again) at some point in the future for a possible Legions of Nagash Death list, but considering the above tournament report... how do these allies work? Is it that you can take a single ally leader without penalties (while staying Nighthaunt) or something? I guess I really need to unwrap the darn rulebook instead of just painting :P Overall I'm worried about how leader-heavy all my planned lists are looking. One recent one had 830pts of leaders in it despite not even including Craven King. Oof.
