  1. That's a really great piece of terrain @Eldarain . I'm a bit late, but I have painted a bit in June. All the little heroes make for a good feeling of progress. I've 10 Bladelords left (5 of them are almost finished), then I'll move on to the Wind Temple, starting with the Wind Mage. In addition I'll plan to build more of my Endless Spells in anticipation of the new addition (note: this might be not true anymore after the announcement today ^^) That's the plan for July. Last months was Scinari and their bodyguards:
  2. Thanks for clarifying : ). I also don't know 100% about the accuracy of course. Yeah, in strictly competitive lists, 30 plus Sentinels are more common. And sadly, with all the new high save stuff coming out, it likely won't get less. I still think most list will be 20 to 30 - it becomes just very restrictive to play with more. Your whole list depends on them. Still who knows how AoS3 goes, if a high Sentinel build turns out the most successful build, then you'll see a lot of them in competitive list of course. If the new Hurakan units turn out to be good, then it would be far less I'm sure. There are some people of course who love to play with a lot of ranked archers, but judging from the LRL Reddit/Discord/Facebook groups I think most people rather would not use a lot of them if they have a choice. I usually play with 20 - but I don't play on a competitive level. 30 with Power of Hysh can do some work, even without Lambent Light, that's true. But if you manage to get him into the LRL before he dies at least he'll do some work, as we have no chaf. : ) . Let's see. And congrats on winning that match : )
  3. 40 Sentinels aren't common below strictly competitive lists, and even then it's not more than 30 in most cases. You can check yourself if you don't believe me: https://aoslistbot.herokuapp.com/faction_page/Lumineth Realmlords/Vanari Auralan Sentinels I see LRL lists posted daily, and most of them have 20 or at most 30 Sentinels. Because other than you suggest, 40 Sentinels are a tax on what else you can do with a list and also how you can play your list. It won't do you much good if you have 40 Sentinels but can't protect them, making it a very defensive, inflexible list (so far at least, maybe some players can come up with something with the new models and sub-factions). Many LRL players would love to ditch them to be honest, but as GW seems to throw out more and more high save units, it's difficult to do so completely. I'd be more concerned about a Syar player waving a certain blade at Kragnos than 40 Sentinels shooting him off in two turns. That scenario is more likely, especially if you play competitively (where you have a high chance to face a LRL Syar list), and costs the LRL player nothing at all - it's our "best" faction, and you get the item automatically. Which really could make it a bleak experience for the Kragnos player, but that's the risk you take when you make a list around high cost single models. A Teclis list can also be a bleak experience (waves at KO), but successful and fun in other cases.
  4. I know all that, but it means nothing in the way the discussion went before. She kept the price and even got a truce on top of that. It's not like she lost anything there (which is fine by me). Which was the original complain about BR Teclis from someone.
  5. No, they won't. Lambent Light has a CV of 5, so if you don't roll abysmal bad with his magic protection it won't be on him. Two units of 10 Sentinels will do an average of 6 MW per turn, if they get their buff cast (if not, its 3). Even 40 "only" do 12 MW in one turn on average without Lambent Light (and they would cost you 560 points) if all of the units get their Power of Hysh spell cast. And there aren't larger unit sizes for Sentinels. I have no real opinion on how much he should cost, especially in the situation we are in right now - maybe there is still something coming for him, and being AoS3 around the corner, but 2 units of Sentinels won't shoot him off the board in T1.
  6. Yes, it's pretty good. Also the description of the OBR at the start of the novel is very good. It provides some background on how it felt to be in the invasion of Hysh as a normal soldier and also about the OBR campaign in Ymetrica.
  7. One unit. He has Bladelords in there. It's not a dramatic change in my view.
  8. I’d agree with GrimDork. It looks good, but you can play a bit around with it. Maybe you do not need Eltharion and/or the Legion. That’s a few things to play with. Spell Portal/Balewind are great (Lambent Light, Darkenss of the Soul), if you rely on Scinari, a few Bladelords might be good. And then, one thing which makes Teclis so strong is that he can use all the lores as you know. You limit yourself to one, which might not be the most competitive option. I can see why, and my list right now is very similar, but if I was more about competitiveness see if you can fit in a Stonemage or Windmage.
  9. Yeah, until the Soulblight FAQ drops we’re likely only a few weeks away from AoS3.
  10. There have been around 7 larger tournament wins by Lumineth players, none of them with Ymetrica I think. Syar does well. In all the statistics I see it’s in the borderline OP category (high 50s). All of our other nations don’t perform well, that’s what’s dragging down our overall win rate. We don’t have enough data with the new units and nations of course, and everything will change in two month anyway. Even your list might overall perform better in Syar than in Ymetrica (better artifact, more juice for everyone vs. partial better protection in a niche case (lots of -2 rend)). Think about it, almost nothing that you state above is due to/needs Ymetrica, except in cases you face someone with a lot of -2 rend. Whereas you mention the usefulness of quartz twice yourself. Ymetrica is sadly just not that well designed, because the abilities only apply to a small group of Warscrolls and the best bonus you get is only helpful in niche cases. Almost half the units in your list don’t profit from being in Ymetrica. Where’s double Aetherquartz ... . But it’s great that you have list that does well for you with the playstyle you like. It looks more interesting than another version of Teclis + Auralan battalion for sure. All the rest I agree. Again it’s was just a question about what’s competitive, and any of the statistics I have seen, Ymetrica was at the bottom (either upper 30s or lower 40s) of our four nation choices (with Iliatha not counting because almost no one seems to have played it in tournaments so far). It’s not about dissuading people from playing what they want. I play a weird, mostly mages lists myself.
  11. Sorry, yup : ). I meant you, hopefully the list helped : )
  12. Yeah, I'm a Teclis fan, but it's sad to see that (almost) all of our competitive lists have to include him. I personally prefer playing without god level characters like Teclis. Hopefully people will find successful lists without him. It's just really hard to come close to the kind of toolbox and reliability he brings. I love the new spell lore, but because we don't have 2 cast Wizards besides the Twins, it's hard to emulate what Teclis can do. You can hardly build lists with 2 Stonemages, 3 Windmages and 3 Scinari. And even if you could, you still wouldn't have the protection against MW and spells that Teclis offers. Protection of Hysh being so much worse than Protection of Teclis is a problem with all the MW flying around, and that being almost our only option to guard against those. Not easy to cast, smaller base and half the radius. And in raw power, none of the new units is better than what we had already, so it's no wonder that nothing much has changed. Still, if you just play locally, our options now are great, so there 's that a least : ). Maybe AoS3 reshuffles the cards. I'm sure some people will find success with the Hurakan, but that's also a very specific play style.
  13. There hasn’t been a single larger tournament won by anyone playing Ymetrica as far as I know. Not even top 3 afaik. The last time I saw numbers, Ymetrica was the worst of our factions (Iliatha didn’t have enough players to have meaningful results). Here is an example of what I mean https://aoslistbot.herokuapp.com/faction_page/Lumineth Realmlords You can bring almost any army to a tournament under the conditions you write above (be better than many of your opponents) and win games. Probably you can bring a Ymetrica army to larger tournaments and score a lot of wins - statistically that hasn't happened so far. Looking at the above statistics - if you know what your are doing you can expect to win 2 and lose 3. That means your aren’t playing at the competitive tables. If you are very good and/or lucky you can do better of course. Faction choice is luckily not the only thing that matters in this game. That’d be horrible. You could show your build and explain how you win against top armies with it, might be helpful for Maori. Locally of course you can play Ymetrica, it just hasn’t been our competitive option so far. With the new edition coming, that might change. I personally would always chose the army and faction I like over what’s “most competitive”. It’s only about giving people a realistic view of what they can expect, using the data we have.
  14. That’s what makes me angry/disappointed about most of the NPE talk - much of it is by people who never even played against Lumineth, much less the second wave models. A lot is just envy/gate keeping and sadly from time to time it works. It’s one reason why I’m mostly not here anymore. So much negativity and people just trying to make other people feel bad about what they play (not only LRL). The painting section is great though! Not saying there can’t be any genuine NPE experience with the LRL, but a lot is just mean spirited in my view. I hope you find your army though, but it sounds a bit like you might have more luck with the revival of the old world (if that turns out to be a good game). New free people and Sigmar humans likely would also go down a weirder road than how they look right now. Or maybe the new Stormcast? They look a bit more human in a way, and won’t be discontinued : ). Anyway good luck 🍀: )
  15. I think something like the Crusade system is going to happen yeah, they mentioned a new narrative system, and it looks like a lot of 40K elements will make it into AoS. So it’d make sense, seems to be popular.
  16. If you don’t play to win in larger tournaments - it isn’t that bad. The Aalrith aren’t bad as such, and with the Hurakan you can also combine them now with faster units. Just Ymetrica won’t contribute besides the rend and Battleline (if the rumors are true). But this change will also hit many other strong current armies. If you really want to use Alarith, you can build lists around them which are ok. Especially if you don’t have armies like Seraphon or Tzeentch in your local meta. Or you can try to play Alarith with Teclis. Won’t work against certain armies either, but should be still ok in many cases. With Stoneguard being cheap, you can have a lot of MSU making it harder to hit Teclis, and -2 rend, plus a 5+ Ward (and often -1 to hit/quartz) aren’t bad either. It all depends on what you want to do: win as many games as you can (then you probably have to forget Ymetrica for now) or just try to play good with an army you like. The latter always will be bad against some opponents, if you aren’t lucky and your favorite units are by chance all really good. Let’s see what AoS3 brings. They’ll have to update all battletomes afterwards anyway, and as Ymetrica has been pretty bad already - it might get better traits in an update.
  17. Strictly speaking, if you mean competitively, Ymetrica hasn’t been viable even with the battalion. Losing the battalion won’t help. But AOS3, if the rumors are correct, will bring so many changes, hard to say how it looks like afterwards. Doesn’t look great for LRL though, as we do not have many re-rolls, pluses to attacks and similar things which seem to be untouched, but rely on debuffs which will be limited to +/- 1 largely. Ymetrica is bad. Only provides buffs to Alarith, one to an ability which doesn’t work, bad command trait, and meh artifact. If the meta changes see show to melee armies with high rend but no mortal wounds output, it’ll be one ok.
  18. Thank you, right, you’ll still have to look at aelves for a while : ). I haven’t even finished all the old models. I’ll going to paint most of the new heroes and Bladelords first. Those are the ones I want to use the most.
  19. I might have bought a thing or two, yes 😅
  20. They are probably what you'd expect them to be in the LRL novel. There are 2 and half Slaanesh "main" antagonists in the book, and they have different characters and approaches, so there is a bit of variety there. The one featured the most is your typical megalomaniac nutjob with BIG PLANS but limited capabilities. If found him fun and quite interesting - but probably for a Slaanesh fan he's rather trite.
  21. In BR Teclis we heard Tyrion was heading towards the Pit of Catharthia - which leads to Ulgu. But then we heard before that Tyrion can't exist in Ulgu, so there might be something else involving the Pit. It's after all a very bad place for Lumineth. As the Newborns are in Ulgu (at least as far as we know right now) - That would be my obvious guess too. This is the number one threat for aelves, and would fit the "greater than Nagash" part. On the other hand - "greater than Nagash" was just what Teclis said at that time - it could be he was just trying to play mind games with Nagash. And he got the expected reaction. I don't think it's Malerion. I hope so. That'd be kind of lame in my eyes. We probably don't see Tyrion in Broken Realms though. They took him out for a reason. Probably this will be something at mid or end of AoS 3 when we get into the next story line. So maybe not the Twins, but something totally new.
  22. Celennar was still a moon at that time : ). There is a BR short story where an Idoneth kills a Bladelord - but before he does they talk a bit about how they fought together against Chaos in the past. Alliances of necessity, basically. You could also imagine several other reasons why they might work together - Idoneth want to prove themselves, Lumineth want to “help” them etc.
  23. Yeah it’s overdue, so we don’t know when it’ll come. @Mesi very interesting thank you!
