  1. Hello again and you're welcome I have double-checked the rule for Hurakan, the one called "Move Like the Wind" just in case, and I confirm that you can always do your pile-in in whatever direction you want, so you can go to 2.9" away in your opponent's turn. If you make a charge the rule is enhanced, it is considered that the model flies and can pile-in an extra 3" for a total of 6" in the direction you want. In your example, you charge and pile to 2.9" then the opponent piles to 1.9" and cannot attack. Then in the opponent's turn he has to choose that unit to get to 0.9" and attack, and if he does not, you go to 2.9" and he has missed the opportunity to attack you, Even if he attacks, you do the +2 save and with the 5+ ward you have a very good chance of surviving
  2. Hello there! I think I can answer this one So, according to the Spirit of the Wind rule, you can make a normal move of 12", with the possibility of retreating. So the question arises, what is exactly a normal move? And what about retreating? A normal move is the typical move that you do when you are outside of combat range. Rule 8.1 specifies that units cannot move within 3" of enemy units when making a normal move. As you can probably see from the restriction of the normal move, what you are describing in your example is not a normal move, but rather, the pile-in move that you can do in combat range. The pile-in move is not considered a normal move. The retreat move, on the other hand, is the one that you can do to leave a combat. Rule 8.2 specifies that units must move outside of 3" of enemy units when making a retreat move. So in your example, you need to retreat outside of 3" if you use the Spirit of the Wind rule. What you could do and would be perfectly legal would be to not use the Spirit of the Wind rule, leaving your flying fox in combat, which allows to do its pile-in move to get to 2.9" distance when you activate it again. This is very good to force the enemy to activate a particular unit in combat before you get away again, and that leaves you opportunities for counter-attacking in another part of the board. With the 5+ the fox seems like an easy target, but with aetherquartz, all-out defence, and the 5+ ward save, it can be more durable than your opponent may think at first Hope I was helpful!
  3. Aaaaaaand the twinstones are gone from competitive lists. Strange that the lore talks about how the energy feedback loop yet they go *poof* after using them. And the sanctum is worse than it was for now double the points On the other hand, it seems that Iliatha's double CP is valid and I can see it being cool and strong in the new edition. They'll definitely have to clarify yet again the intended interaction with the Loreseeker. Right now the FAQ text states that he is noted as unique, and the GHB2021 doesn't, so it's pretty contradictory.
  4. Took me ages, but I managed to finish my bladelords
  5. Most definitely, there's been some exciting changes to the game! I am by no means an expert in AoS, so I cannot foretell how the new rules will affect our list building. Overall, I believe that the new points and list building system are going to be healthy for all factions. Maybe we'll be able to shake off our NPE stigma. Myself, I'm finally going to try a non-Teclis Iliatha list. However, as of late, I have been getting fed up with the calculator to add up all the points any time I wanted to indulge in list building, so I built myself a very basic calculator tool in Excel based on the GHB points compilation by AoS Shorts, with a personal touch to reflect the restrictions on unit limits. I thought I'll leave it here, since it may be useful to some of y'all as well. Please keep in mind it was intended as a personal way of drafting LRL-only armies really quick, so it's a first version that doesn't include great nations, artifacts, batallions, or the possibility to include allies. Feel free to use and modify it to your liking! Khaedhras' LRL builder v1.xlsx
  6. It's taken me a while to settle on a colour scheme, very based on Helon but with a personal touch. Feels good to finally start painting again!
  7. Indeed, quite a few. Do they get bumped to battleline? Maybe we have different versions of the app, my (now very outdated, I realize) Ymetrica list comes off as invalid for 'not having enough battleline': I don't know the specific coding details either, but in Idoneth Deepkin, for instance, Akhelian Guard units (either Morsarr or Ishlaen) start off as 'other' and are recognized as 'battleline' when you pick Volturnos or a King as your general. On a sidenote, GW is currently hiring an Android/iOS developer.
  8. As a comment, the Azyr app has several bugs regarding Lumineth. As a techy guy, I've sent a couple bug reports myself, but to no avail so far 😅 For instance, the loreseeker being discussed is also a wizard, and per the rules in the spell pages, he should be able to take a spell. The Azyr app doesn't allow that. There's also the fact that stoneguard should be battleline in Ymetrica and windriders should be battleline in Helon, the app only shows them under 'other'. In addition, one unit of wardens allows to take either one unit of sentinels or one unit of dawnriders as battleline, and the app allows to add one of each per unit of wardens. And these are just a few examples of how undertested the app is, I'm afraid. I'm inclined to think that, being the loreseeker unnamed, he will be able to take artifacts and such. But I guess we'll have to wait for the FAQ. But I'd very much like for the 'named' and 'unique' tags to be separated going forward.
  9. Well, now that the dust is starting to settle and that I've had a couple hours to ponder on the info we have, I cannot overstate how much I love the direction in which they have taken the faction. I cannot wait to field a full vanari army with support from the scinari caste. A few thoughts, considering a competitive level: The Shrine serves as a garrison for a hero, and IIRC, the distances are then measured from the garrison itself instead of from the hero. What would you think about putting the banner guy over there and a unit or two of sentinels outside? The hero himself would go to a 2+ save and would also be -1 to hit, making him a good candidate for Shrine Guardian. You can then give the sentinels a free CA per turn and the bonus bravery. Besides, the guy can pop his banner for mortals and -1 to hit when the enemy closes on the archers I guess. I also think that RAI you can take an artefact and/or trait with the loreseeker. We'll get a hint when the new units pop in the Azyr app, but I guess we'll need a FAQ and/or errata in that regard to put everyone on the same page about naming of characters. However, he is still a mage and you can pick a spell from the lore of hysh for him. Which one would you pick? I'm thinking that competitively speaking, Lambent Light might be the one to go - you can appear close to the enemy, throw the spell, and then melt something away with sheer firepower. It feels really weird that the bladelords don't benefit from the sunmetal weapons rule nor Power of Hysh, being vanari and having sunmetal weapons and whatnot. However they'll still benefit from shining company, and they will be stupid good when attacking something that has a garrison - alpha strike KO ships come to mind. I don't know if I'm interpreting it correctly, but a unit of 10 bladelords wholly within 2" of an ironclad with 10 arkanaut inside would produce 110 attacks at 3+/3+/-/1 with flurry of blows, isn't that right? Combined with aetherquartz / CA it can be quite destructive, I guess it is a niche situation but may be worth a try. If that is the intended application of the rule, maybe it's best they don't cause the mortal wounds after all 😅 Overall, and the best thing for the faction (and seeing the animosity in a certain thread, for the health of the LRL discussion going forward), we have so many new options! We can steer away from the infamous Teclis-Syar list for a good while now And that turquoise color scheme in the bladelords is gorgeous. I was having trouble identifying my color scheme, but it's been love at first sight. I could really use some help from a more experienced painter in identifying those colours though - for anyone willing to share their expertise, how would you go about it?
  10. Well, I had my reservations, but I finally decided to chime my two cents in the infamous thread in the general forum. I am with @Athrawes with regards to the damage done by talk about refusing to play LRL. I hope, however, that you guys are right in that these strong reactions are just a spur of the moment. We human beings could definitely use a little less negativity around us.
  11. So, I'll start by saying that I'm a LRL collector and player. Of course, this means that I know and love my faction, and I'm obviously biased towards it. Nevertheless, I'll try to remain as objective as possible while giving my opinion. The leitmotiv of the discussion, from my point of view, can be summed up as the LRL playstyle giving the impression of not being interactive for the opponent, and hence the claims of NPE. However, I believe that this issue causes very strong opinions and discussions because, in the end, we are moving into the territory of personal feelings towards something, which unavoidably steer the discussion into the terrain of completely subjective matters. For instance, there are many like myself who do not feel that the army is not interactive for the opponent. I firmly believe that there are many ways to play against it and to circumvent the gimmicks. A few examples: kill Teclis ASAP, focus the Cathallar, play the long game with objectives. Managing to circumvent the entirety of the LRL playstyle is, in my opinion, an interaction by itself. Nonetheless, there are many people here who don't believe the latter to be a valid form of interaction, and of course it is a valid opinion that should be listened to and respected. I can for sure empathize with the talk about Teclis+Cathallar+Syar, and understand many of the points that have been raised in the previous pages about auto-successes and denial of gameplay mechanics. As a matter of fact, in my previous paragraph I already mentioned these elements as something to consider vs LRL and it probably didn't come as strange that I mentioned those specific aspects - I can see why they come off as the most problematic, after all. However, feelings and their validity are not the main point that I want to discuss with this rather lengthy block of text. I would like to shift the focus towards one issue that has not been pointed out so far (or at least, if it was spoken about, I have missed it, in which case I apologize). We have been playing the Teclis+Cathallar+Syar list... Because we didn't really have any other realistic options so far. When the army popped into existence, we were not expecting to have more units (+new battletome, etc) so near in the future. By all means, I pictured myself stuck with wardens, sentinels, and dawnriders for the foreseeable future. The Cathallar was effectively the only non-named hero in the Vanari roster - thus, the only one that could take artifacts and command traits. Obviously, I would refrain from throwing the most competitive lists and destructive combos against my friends or even against random people in a friendly environment within my LGS. After all, I'm a human being who doesn't feed on the suffering of other people nor on forcibly removing the fun out of my enemies' carcasses. And I think that many LRL players share my mentality, it has been repeatedly stated in this thread and in the LRL discussion forum. In that sense, it is my opinion that the talk about outright refusing to play vs LRL in friendly environments is unnecessary. As I'm able to empathize with the pleas against LRL, I'm sure that many of you who are reading this can also empathize with me when I say that some of the things that have been said about our beloved faction are hurtful, and to me, this one is the most hurtful one. In the end, people are reasonable, and communication is a key pillar in our society - if you have reservations about playing vs something in particular, why not try to talk and ask for something different instead of downright barring the possibility of having a fun match for both of the players? Many of us LRL would love to play a few matches with a different playstyle other than Teclis+Cathallar+Syar and test, say, the strength of a pure Alarith list. But as much as I love my mountainous (a)elves, it is not realistic to play them and expect to win matches in a semi-competitive or competitive environment. In the context of a tournament, I would expect everyone to bring their best and try to be top dog. As we say in Spain, I'll also go there holding a knife between my teeth - meaning, I'll give it my best and put up a fight to the best of my abilities and use very single trick I can get my hands on. After all, why would I put myself at a disadvantage knowingly and willingly when everyone else goes there with a "no quarter given nor asked" mentality? I don't know a single player who has gone to a tournament with a pure namarti list, with five runesons in their roster, or sporting stalliarch lords when petrifex elite was at their prime, after all. My point is, the new units and scenery, apart from coming as a complete and unexpected surprise, are going to provide us with more options for list building. I am dying to get my hands on the new stuff and build a list based on Hurakan units and their movement shenanigans, or to start a list through a Lord Regent and a couple of heroes other than those we already had, for balance and diversity purposes. As many have stated before me, I don't think that this will be "everything we had + 41k other tricks". The points just won't allow for it, and most of the leaks for the new units don't point in the direction of the roster being bonkers. I firmly believe that in friendly environments, the potential NPE feelings for the faction can, should, and will disappear through the variety introduced by this new toolbox. Competitively speaking? Prepare for our best combos, as we will for yours - playing against each other's playstyles will be a different experience, but hopefully, a positive experience nonetheless. Thanks for coming to my TED talk
  12. Sure! Since I don't know whether there are any forum rules regarding spoilers and leaks and such, I'll PM you
  13. Oh my, if the "theory" about Sevireth's rules comes out as true, we're going to read some nasty things in the forum 😅 Our time in this world is however too short and valuable to waste it arguing over the internet. I'm focused on enjoying the ride and I'm loving the snippets of information and lore so far. Definitely going to prioritize that lovely scenery piece.
  14. I never stopped loving the faction, and still, I fell in love with it all over again this past weekend. I remain awed by that terrain piece in particular. Still room to grow with the river and zenith temples, and of course I cannot help but wish for an astounding mini for my man Tyrion when he finally decides to stop chilling in Hysh. But I'm an extremely happy hobbyist with the faction as it is after this reveal.
  15. Just in case someone can read the forum but cannot connect to the preview: this is Sevireth, Lord of the Seventh Wind. And through love at first sight, one of my favourite miniatures ever. And also: Along with new background that will forever change the Mortal Realms, the book features warscroll battalions for Lumineth Realm-lords, Cities of Sigmar, Maggotkin of Nurgle, Flesh-eater Courts, Ossiarch Bonereapers. Maybe we do annex Phoenicium after all!
  16. Exciting news in general for us! I wonder what Teclis' plan will be, hope we don't just go full Leeeeeeeeroooooy Jeeeeeenkins into Shyish and Nagashizzar. M Maybewe could annex the Phoenicium on the way while we're at it? Btw great eye there with the blademasters @LuminethMage
  17. It's on the article in the Warhammer Community page, and also posted in YouTube by the official Warhammer channel
  18. It would make a lot of sense for the wind temple to be able to deepstrike or redeploy to some degree. I doubt the fox spirit will work as artillery though in terms of attack range, our basic Vanari archers do the deed with the 30' range shot. Also, with the wind mage coming our way, do you think we'll see yet another spell lore? That would have so many implications for Teclis and the Zaitreci...
  19. So, some people in my local group have talked about the resemblance between the teaser (wind+wheat) from the other day: With what can be seen behind the cavalry in the video (bottom left, seemingly spiralling towards the top): They also talked about banner symbolism: Alarith have the cow in one banner, and there's the Alarith spirit, the new cavalry have the fox in one banner, and it seems we're going to see the fox-faced spirit of the wind. Dawnriders have a dragon/phoenix in one of their banners... Thoughts?
  20. That Vanari Lord Regent mini is plain awesome. And I think we all read this bit: Oh, and if you are a Lumineth fan, you don’t want to miss Saturday’s Warhammer Preview Online: The Dead and the Divine. We’re just getting started. Plus the teaser: "there's something in the wind" showing something alike a tornado in front of a wheat field. Apart from the generic hero, full wind temple (kangaroos + hero + spirit) this Saturday?
  21. I did it! Finished the Runefather (my first mini with kinda realistic eyes), and with him, I'm calling the 'droth done and moving onto something else.
  22. I did finish the body and throne on my 'droth last month! I can see some RL stuff on the horizon coming hard and fast for me this month, so I'll only pledge one 'droth rider (the Runefather, more precisely) for July. And we'll see where we go from there (ideally, I'll be able to do a few tests on old HE models for my Lumineth).
  23. And yet, they're the only possible allies 😐 (I concur with those that have spoken out about the apparent incoherence with the GHB)
  24. I've been pondering the exact same just a couple hours ago. Only heroes can use the CAs per se, right? Unless it's a typo and it works as @Sleepers mentioned, by affecting two units with the CA at once instead.
  25. I interpret it in the same manner. Aetherquartz properties improve their physical and arcane abilities, but the emotions come back as well. However, if I recall correctly, did they not mention a while back that the Scinari Cathaller lady is there for taking the despair of Lumineth and inflicting those emotions back upon the enemy? I remember reading that as making the enemy take your bravery tests as well as theirs. If it is like that, the diminished bravery may be a blessing in disguise. Edit: found it! They said it verbally during the third preview when they showed her mini. This is the accompanying text:
