  1. Yeah I keep thinking in my head if I got a Tau army and built it 50/50 between Tau and Kroot I could have them face off for smaller pick up games with friends or join forces for full 2000 point battles. Plus between Kroot and Commander Farsight all my favourite Tau are getting updated.
  2. I realized Callis and Toll can make a nice Free Guild Command Corps so long as your opponent is not overly concerned with base sizes. Callis: Great Herald - An inspiring hero? Toll: War Surgeon - His faith letting others recover from their wounds? Lyssa Revenya: Whisper Blade - Rogue archtypes? Mistress Verentia: Soul Shepherd - Cat replaces spirit? Valius: Arch Knight - Big armoured knight? Balthas - Gargoylian? Okay, maybe if I knew more about Callis and Toll and their companions I could make this less of a stretch, but still a kind of cool option for these awesome models. Okay they might work better proxied as heroes but I am just really happy with how this unit turned out.
  3. Initial Thoughts: This felt tailor made to my tastes and I really enjoyed all the reveals, but it is making me really wonder what to do in terms of collecting. But I know after the hype dies down that Callis and Toll are likely the only purchase I will make and I think they were my favourites of the evening. Kill Team Nightmare: The Mandrakes are spectacular and make me so excited to see Malerion as well as the future of Dark Eldar. The Chaos Side is neat, I will be excited to see them in another colour scheme as I don’t love the Nightlord paint scheme for some reason, (I don’t hate it either just indifferent). The terrain piece is pretty nice and I love the current Kill Team setting, but I think I will probably skip out on this set as I would be far too tempted to start both CSM and Dark Eldar. Warcry: Both sides are unbelievable, the Lumineth are really fantastically posed and have some cool aesthetics but those Nighthaunt are next level. The terrain piece is great but I also feel like it is not as interactive as I would like for Warcry. But a great addition to the Warcry season and the models are terrific. 40K This is all I ever wanted in 40k! I love Tau, and Kroot are the main reason why! These sculpts update them in such a wonderful way and this could easily see me joining the greater good. Aos: Croneseer, that feels like such an iconographic representation of why I love AOS. A high fantasy being that feels somehow dark and also heroically mythological. Daughters of Khaine are the coolest Order army and this model gives a lot of variation that will open them up thematically. Callis and Toll have helped convince me to focus my City on Cultists and this set will be the basis of my Five Leagues from Borderlands Warband. Plus it gives me a new Stormcast hero so it clearly is a good investment. Underworlds: Gravebreakers are fantastic sculpts, the one leaning on the shovel is such a mood that I can feel in my bones. The lore behind these models is also pretty cool. Horus Heresy: Wait, isn’t this the Space Marine game? These are unbelievably fantastic models and are way more interesting to me than anything else i have seen for HH and I like more than either Imperial Guard or Space Marines. Love the retro-futuristic look and would love to see them Chaosified or Genestealered up Overall: I think that this honestly felt like it could have been directed towards me personally but I need to be more focused with my purchases going forward. I think that my big question is wether I sell my unbuilt Chaos Knights in order to fund a Kroot/Tau army?
  4. Yes, Midnight on a cold day is much too late to be watching a preview about toy soldiers.
  5. I have just started Cities of Sigmar and work has been inconsistent lately. So I really, really hope that they don't reveal anything I want... Considering that we have rumours and silhouettes for Lady of Ruin, Callis and Toll, Warcy, Dark Oath Cavalry, Kroot Riders and a potential Custodes Box I think that the Lady of Ruin is focused on financial ruin.
  6. Might need to get him for my Cities army now! Might need to paint that grailhelm as a Folgers tin for Donny.
  7. So I absolutely love Idoneth, I even bought the Battleforce and realized I couldn't do them justice and traded them for Ogors... which I can do justice as a method painter. I have always wanted to see their range grow and would love further integration of deep sea monsters... but Floating Jellyfish with rail guns might be my favourite hypothetical unit of all time. Especially if after every shot they had to move backwards D3 inches due to recoil.
  8. There is a bit of texture towards the bottom suction cups/suckers? Maybe a tentacle/cephalopod limb? It does not look chaos-like to me, something about the flattened fin like portion towards the end and if they are suction cups it would likely rule out Seraphon. Maybe a new critter from an Idoneth warcry warband? It doesn't quite match up with what we have seen so far from the cephalopod inspired AOS designs. But it does have a bit of the vibe of the Deep Mare's tale though the ending fin is shaped very differently Do any Tau auxiliaries have tentacles? It feels like that side of Tau are finally being fleshed out. Hope you have a great birthday and your pile of shame grows some more today!
  9. As a fellow Mecha Geek I am calling Mazinger Z as the best Chorf Mecha Design... The right colour scheme, nice hat and the all important Rocket Punch! Between Horns of Hashut and Hobgrots I feel like Chaos Dwarfs will have a little more of robust army than other new faction releases. I think that Chaos Dwarves will of course be allied with Slaves to Darkness so they will still be able to run Horns of Hashut. I also feel like Ogorids being bull like mercenaries might have some cross factional ties to the Chaos Dwarfs in the long run? I hope to not split too many models from S2D so I do not expect to see Ogroids join Chaos Dwarfs but I still think they could make that transition.
  10. I feel like that would be the primary atavistic base that the majority (though not all) would deviate. I assume each unit would have a few goat horns, and cloven hooves. But they'd be interspersed with additional forms of bestial creatures. In other words the Gors would have been the dominate order of Beasts, but not the sole order. They'd still take the place of basic infantry incorporating some slightly more exotic humanoid shaped beasts into their ranks. But with the faction writ large placing further importance on the less human aspects of the current range. I really think in the setting of AOS they could truly make these sorts of sculpts feel unique and terrifying. Giving a sense of uncanny dread when contrasted with Kurnothi, Melussai or Seraphon. Of course my wish listing and internal logic will sadly not will the faction into existence. I lack the Baudrillardian superpowers of @KingBrodd and @Public Universal Duardin to manifest my Warhammer desires into reality.
  11. I was thinking of a units more in line with the Accursed Cultistsin 40k, a mixture of mutated creatures that may have a shared characteristic, but are more related by how 'gifted' they are by the chaos gods. So there wouldn't be much concern if there were a mixture of different fantasy races. In the end they'd have a shared profile based on the form and degree of their mutant blessings. Maybe it wouldn't work but I still think it would make a fantastic looking army.
  12. I really hope they lean into Morghur styled body horror/mutant abominations: Let this be the ordinary and have some weird hybrids not just with humans. Equine cavalry with the mandibles and wings of Formicidae, Hulking Ursine with the lower half of a cephalopod, scaled bipedial vulpine archers, and it is a fantasy setting we should see fantasy races and species mixed into the lot... A Duardin with a lion's head and Scorpion Claws or an Aelf with Draconic claws and goat head.
  13. At the rate we are going it is obviously the Chaos Dwarf/Malerion Dual Box with an announcement of 4.0 with re-sculpted Skaven versus Vampirates. Tune in the following week for the first teaser of the next edition of Warcry featuring our first look at Silent People fighting the Children of Morghur. Don't worry 40k fans there will be plenty of Space Marines to keep you occupied, like the new unit of Assault Cyclists and their Horus Heresy equivalents Penny-Fathering Astartes. In all seriousness I really hope we get a look at the next campaign book and I am still hopeful that we get a Cities Combat Patrol that is a great add onto the Army box.
  14. This is the most hype rumour we have had since I got into AOS!
  15. It appears that people are imagining Beasts being repurposed to fill a similar niche as Daemons as a part of each Chaos Army but not to function as a standalone faction. As much as I don't hate the idea I would be really sad to see the true children of chaos regulated to a sub-faction. But you all know I enjoy a nice hardy soup.
  16. I think Chaos is in a weird place to be honest in terms of needing model support: Slaves to Darkness are the poster faction for Chaos and mostly updated, I feel like they can take a break after Dawn Breakers but somehow I feel like we will see even more. Skaven and Beasts are in desperate need of re-sculpts and updates, but their armies are actually fairly well rounded and representative of the units that should exist in lore. The Mono-God factions need a little more support in terms of number of units on the mortal side, but relative to some other factions in AOS are actually not terrible. However, the fact that all of them feel pretty close to reaching their true potential, it feels a little odd that we aren't there yet. Demons do really make a difference though and make these ranges more robust than many other AOS factions. Chaos Daemons: I am sad that we lost the Legions of the Dark Prince as a playable faction. I think they should return with some updates on the Demon Infantry and an undivided plastic update of Ruinstorm Daemon Brutes. Chaos Duardin: I am going to be brutally honest, I think that they need the support of Slaves to Darkness to get a release. With Slaves to Darkness pretty much entirely updated, I think that Games Workshop will want to continue supporting the villains and they see there is a demand for Chaos Dwarfs, but also that they have struggled to maintain support in the past. Giving them a full on subfaction within one of the best supported ranges would mean that there would be a pre-built consumer base for their release. However, Leagues of Votann and Sisters of Battle show that Games Workshop are willing to support armies that have historically struggled so hopefully our Big Hatted heroes will return. Personally I feel like to see Skaven, Beasts and DoT need the most love out of Chaos Factions. I feel like Hedonites, and Beasts need a little more lore love. I think Hedonites had a lot of momentum and want to see it carried forward and I want Beasts to have an impact on the era of the Beasts.
  17. Unfortunately I am having trouble finding the original artist, but it appears that it was a meme using an Art Nouveau Tarot Card deck unrelated to Warhammer originally. Still it ties to my own fascination in the idea of the way the Chaos Gods are perceived from their own followers as opposed to the perspectives of Order, the Imperium, the Empire or biased Blood Bowl Referees.
  18. I feel like the reacts to your post prove that others aren't ready to accept the truth about our faith:
  19. I actually feel a little odd about any of the Gods being locked to a specific faction, as I feel like they are representatives of their Grand Alliances with their armies being cults focused on their worship. This is only a real issue with Order at the moment as Kragonos and Nagash are useable across various armies within their Alliance. Alarielle leading a force of atheistic Kharadron in hopes of preserving life and showing that nature has more power than any machine feels like a cool narrative idea. I am fine if we never see this idea implemented but I just feel like the manner in which AOS follows many traditional polytheistic myths it would make sense for the Gods to become more involved in each others followers. Like how many Gods got involved in the Trojan War or the Kurukshetra War.
  20. Okay maybe the prophecy was wrong... But in all seriousness those models are both fantastic and show so much promise for their respective factions. Two armies I have a deep love for but never really high on my priority to collect. If future releases keep up this standard I could imagine some flamming duardin or Tau making it into my collection.
  21. Often times our good friend simply likes posts because they are interesting, and people will take it as a hint of a rumour. For example leading up to the release of a book someone might propose a cool unit, and Whitefang joins in on the likes. Then everyone sees that as a confirmation of the proposed unit when in fact it is simply a cool concept.
  22. I mean it is pretty simple fans of Space Marines like the aesthetic. It is the same reason I default towards Chaos. Aesthetics are subjective and the Gothic Sci-fi aesthetic of the imperium is not my favourite. That is why I tend to favour Xenos in 40k.
  23. I have a plan of execution for the pile of shame and a New Army adding to it: Immediate focus: My first objective is to complete my Necrons, they are painted and based but some fine detail is needed and I have room for a single additional character or unit to round it out to 2000 points. I have some terrain that I also want to finish off during this period. I also have Purchased Hunter and Hunted and will try and get the Gorgers done during this time. Winter: As a Canadian, it is not the best weather for priming so my top priority will be working on Chaos backlog during this time, I have my still unbuilt Chaos Knights for 40k that will need to be magnetized which causes me actual anxiety, and then I have the Slaves to Darkness Army Box (the one that released with chosen and ogroids), Be'lakor, Varanguard and Darkoath Savagers. Once they are built it will hopefully be warmer and I can begin to paint them. Spring: This is when I can start my Cities in earnest. I will play around with digital test schemes but once the weather improves I will work on building and painting my new army. I just have the Army Box and the Hunter Hunted set so I will slowly build this army throughout the spring. Summer: New edition that I will try not to buy, but as a stormcast player I will be very tempted. I will probably wait for the starter set with terrain and then sell off the mice. I will also use this time to maybe build a small board for Warcry and Kill team. Fall: Last chance to really prime models and start list building and playing the new edition of AOS. I will probably use this time to buy one off purchases to build around rules changes, especially if we get heroes attached to units like in 40K. The one that sticks out is getting some Dracothian Guard to pair with my Lord Celestant on Dracoth. Then wintertime, see if there is a good battleforce for cities, chaos space marines or unlikely chaos demons.
