  1. Not that I've seen. Things with the Beast runemark can't carry treasure so maybe that's why they don't have it? Either way, I'd say the Wardens were tweaked this way for balance rather than model or lore accuracy. Unless they prove unbalanced, I doubt they'll be revisited by GW. -- Unfortunately, as awesome of a game as it is, Warcry is not the place to look if you want lore accuracy (or even accuracy with AoS stats). 🙁 -- As always, though, if you don't like it, change it. Homebrew up some new rules that allow all your doggos to get their "Kill!" on. Reckon most casual players won't mind as long as it's the same power or a slight debuff (homebrew that's even a little OP = the feel bads). Maybe:
  2. The way I read it, I reckon it'd be 1). The fighter is making a bonus "move action" and, under Move Action in Core Rules, it mentions 3 times that this action is limited by the Move characteristic. I reckon if the designers intended it to work like 2) they would have worded it similar to: "This fighter can make a bonus move action where their Move characteristic is equal to the value of this ability."

    Varanscribe?

Well, there's your answer on Varanscribe - it just quietly disappeared from WH Community site. It's still available here, though: https://varanscribe.warhammer-community.com/ No idea if it'll come back with updates, but stuff like this really does help push customers towards alternatives like BattleScribe. 😔
  4. Warhammer Digital has ToC 2019 so maybe they'll put ToC 2020 up there eventually as well?
  5. The Australian GW web store has Red Harvest plus all the current books still, none of which are marked as "While Stocks Last" so I don't think they're dropping it anytime soon. Maybe your locale has supply issues? Faction cards I'd say are no longer a thing as the books (esp. ToC 2021) changed them. Just checked the few warbands I have on Battlescribe and they had keywords shown (<Alliance>, <Warband>, Leader, Brute, Berzerker, etc.) so perhaps check again. ? That or they haven't been added for the warband(s) you checked. Hope you manage to find enough rules to introduce your mates and have a blast with this, as @Iksdee says, great game!!
  6. That said, this site I like suggests to Tzeentch Daemons and Spire Tyrants are HARD for beginners and Iron Golem, Untamed Beasts, Kruleboyz, and Nighthaunt are GOOD for beginners: https://ageofminiatures.com/warcry-warbands/
  7. Coincidentally, I just played my first game against my wife the other day, too!! 😁 I'd recommend letting her choose a warband that she likes based on their look and lore. There are ways of making her first games simple, forgiving, and fun with any warband. I've done this with both my kids, heaps of family and friends, and now my wife and everyone had heaps of fun (including me as I didn't have to let anyone win). For the first game give her 1,000 points and yourself only 500-600. Try to have roughly the same number of fighters so it looks kinda fair. Don't bother with Deployment, Victory, or Twist cards - just come up with an interesting scenario as to why her warband needs to beat the snot out of yours. After setting up terrain, let her choose whichever corner of the board she wants to deploy in and you deploy in the opposite corner. Don't use Abilities - just keep it to rolling for initiative, activations, movement, and attacks. Then, go hard and try to destroy her - odds are you won't even come close and she'll have a blast. If she likes the warband, isn't drowning in rules, and leaves the game feeling like a badass, she's much more likely to want to play again. My wife went from "OK, I'll have a go, but I doubt I'll like it." to "Why the hell do we go to work everyday when we could be doing this instead!?!?". 😂 As she gets more comfortable with the rules, introduce Abilities and then finally Deployment, Victory, or Twist cards. As she gets better, tweak the points difference so that each game is fair and challenging for all. Good luck and have fun!! 😉👍
  8. As far as I know, yes, but I think a lot of people house-rule this one:
  9. The kids and I tend to play WarCry narratively (tabletop RPG using WarCry for combat) and now the missus wants to join in with some Fyreslayers. As such, I have started creating Lore-Abiding Fyreslayers for her. Sharing here in case anyone else is interested. Lore-Abiding?? What the??: Lore-Abiding is what I call warbands where the fighters' movement, offence, defence, and abilities are relative to their AoS stats. I think this makes them match up better to Warhammer lore (fluff text). For example: Vulkite Berzerkers should be tougher and way more deadly in melee than your average Chaos Cultist; etc. Disclaimer: I haven't battle tested this warband yet so it is definitely in ALPHA status. Please feel free to provide feedback and ask questions. Warcry - LA Fyreslayers - Alpha-compressed.pdf
  10. @vicar1492: Apologies, I didn't actually realise there was an old post before yours (didn't scroll up). 😔 The fact that GW is so prescriptive with their wording ("friendly" vs. "other friendly") led me to believe the exclusion of "other" in these cases was definitive (as per @gabbi's point with the 3rd example) - I was wrong. After reading the post, and some other abilities on my cards, I can now see the ambiguity that's being discussed. Also on page 35: Given visibility can only ever be within the context of the fighter, I'd say that the definition of friendly fighter is also from the perspective of that fighter and, therefore, excludes itself. In short: Yep, I agree with @vicar1492. 👍
  11. Core rules page 35: Given some things explicitly state "other friendly", I'd say "visible friendly fighter" does include itself. 😉👍
  12. Have you checked if they're included in the Warcry: Sentinels of Order book? No simple way to convert from AoS to Warcry that I know of unfortunately. Here's a good custom card creator though: https://hennirocks.github.io/warcry-card-creator/ If you were to convert from AoS you'd need to decide if you want them to be as powerful as they are in AoS or weaken them like most non-cultists are in Warcry. For example Siahs are worth 100pts in AoS and should be able to reliably beat a whole chaos cultist warband by themselves(70pts in AoS, 1,000pts in Warcry). -- If you want it AoS strength (what I call Lore-Abiding) then maybe something like: M: 7 | T: 4 | W: 40 Sword - R: 1 | A: 6 | S: 5 | D : 2/6 Staff - R: 2 | A: 4 | S: 4 | D : 4/8 Abilities - Illusory Assault - Make this is really nasty, ranged, multi-fighter killing quad or something. ~1,400 points -- If you want it weaker so it can be included in a Warcry warband, maybe look for a similar existing fighter to base it off (maybe something Aelven, Slaaneshi, or Tzeentchian?). -- Good luck and, if you do knock something up, share it here as others may find it useful. 😉
  13. Ha ha! Nothing too dire, just made the tops of the walls more ruined looking and less able to support a model. Pre angle grinder: Post angle grinder:
  14. There has been a bit of discussion on this already that might be helpful: The rules on platforms are pretty prescriptive in the core book (something like 1"x1", and 1" off the table) so tournaments may use those. A slight tweak would be to count anything bigger than the model's base as a platform - this prevents Ogor Breachers using the same platforms as something like a Plains-Runner. I'm generally a fan of "if it stays, it plays", however this did cause me to take an angle-grinder to my starter set. 🤣
  15. Nicely done!! 😉 Reckon you'll also provide an option for the original background Rachel used (my preference)? Here's the assets I did for high-res Abilities cards if that's useful. Just the front, no back yet but will pass on if I do. The most similar header font is RodchenkoCTT (same as the fighter cards). The most similar font I found for the rest of the text is Sitka Heading but this is a Windows 10 font. Warcry - Blank Abilities.zip
  16. Glad you and your mates are having fun with Warcry!! 😉👍 -- My understanding is that your friend is right: if two fighters are more than 1" away from each other, they can both move normally and don't need to Disengage (Core Book Pg. 41). Even if one of those fighters attacked another with a 2" range weapon. Only when they are within 1" are fighters considered "in melee combat" and not able to move away or attack other fighters (Core Book Pg. 44). And yes, measurements are base-to-base (Core Book Pg. 35). -- Line of sight is just that, can one part of a model can see any part of the other, excluding bases (Core Book Pg. 35). As such, yes, you can attack fighters through ladders, gaps in gates, past corners, over walls, and even between the legs of other fighters, etc. Be aware that if what you're attacking past/through is Obstacle Terrain (Core Book Pg. 46) then more than likely the target will receive a cover bonus. Note that Cover has been errata'd to work more simply (Pg. 1): https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/3bd97281.pdf I tend to house-rule other fighters as cover, such that any failed hits are then rolled again against the "covering" fighter. This makes clustered fighters more fun to shoot at and makes you more reluctant to shoot through your own fighters. -- Happy gaming!!
  17. I found the starter perfect for getting started - the terrain, boards, and cards all just work together nicely (also dice, ruler, and box that fits everything is handy). Only reason I could see not to get the starter would be if you don't want Iron Golems and Untamed Beasts or if it's too expensive. You said you want those warbands so no issues there. $250 is a great price if it's Australian or NZ dollars. Not so much if US. I just had a quick look on eBay and found one new for the same price GW was charging (AU$280) so hopefully if you shop around you should be able to get it for close to the old retail price. I find this handy for researching builds: https://ageofminiatures.com/warcry-warbands/
  18. Updated and now in BETA status. Here's the ALPHA cards for reference: WarCry - Seraphon - vALPHA.pdf
  19. You can edit after you have 5 posts or more (i.e. you have one more to go).
  20. Another way could be to expand upon the existing "Falling off Terrain" rule so that if an attack scores any crits, the attacker can make the defender roll a push-back check . On a 1, the attacker can move the defending fighter 1" in any direction (and hence cause them to fall). This. It made me chuckle to think of a Grot with a Barbed Net snaring a Zombie Dragon. If they ever did manage to "ensnare" it, things would not go how the Grot had hoped - at all!!! 🤣
  21. Here's a home-brew for a Skink with BoltSpitter and Star-Buckler that's in-line with the official cards.
  22. Come to think of it, giving them variable stats based on wounds like other gargantuan monsters might make things a bit more interesting. 🤔
  23. I was going to keep it my shameful secret that I've started taking this card seriously, but since you guys also seem keen: -- I haven't no. It'd be a difficult one rules-wise but might see what I can concoct. Yes, do it!! The model was heaps of fun to put together and looks awesome!! Might be a bit of a slog to paint, though - haven't gotten that far yet. -- So, I've played a couple of narrative games with these puppies and updated the card accordingly. 16 dice for attacks was just ridiculous and it made sense to give them the ball-and-chains ranged attack. 1.5 warbands took it down 60+ wounds so I reckon 2.5 warbands would be about even. They play pretty bland in a straight-up fight (melee fighters close in, ranged shoot at it from a distance, Manglers chew through the melee guys, and then hop around cleaning up the ranged). It's mostly just rolling dice and seeing how much damage you can do to it. We only rolled for the Manglers a handful of times, though - for anything less than 20 wounds we just called it an insta-kill (it averages 24 and 35 damage per attack!!). It'd be more fun in a narrative setting or with a some of the more interesting victory conditions, though.
  24. Shouldn't be too hard to knock up a home-brew version. I might do it when I get some time. Edit: I'd make them the same as a Skink with Boltspitter and Moonstone Club except: 3 Toughness, 2 Melee Attacks, 1/2 Melee Damage, 60 points. -- Yeah, most of the AoS warbands have nerfed fighters to get more variation/cooler models. It really bugs me that some very tough fighters that totally destroy Chaos Cultists in AoS are evenly matched with them in Warcry. So far I've managed to keep the ranting to a minimum on this one, though. 😉 E.g. In AoS, Skinks are 7 point models and Terradon Riders are 40 points. Therefore, to have them non-nerfed in Warcry, they'd need to cost around 400+ points. GW doesn't wanna do this so they weaken them down to the 200+ mark. Same with Suarus. If you want non-nerfed Seraphon, check out my home-brew cards (I'll be updating them soon): -- So my son played in a tournament at our local GW store today with 500 points of Skinks. They played very well and, provided you use their speed and agility to keep them out of melee and peppering the enemy from a distance, did more damage than anyone expected. Nimble Retreat (free disengage) and Rush (for extra speed) were the stand-out abilities. The quad is super fun as the opponents were keen to get into melee and, with some high dice values, found themselves on the receiving end of 6 Attack, 6 Strength celestially-charged monstrosities!! -- P.S. I mean really!!! Bloodcrushers squaring up with Cultists and not just turning them into a fine red mist?!?! Is Khorne on holidays or something!?!?! OK, sorry, rant over. 😋
