List for comments. It is a bit below 2k, so if Longstrikes go up in points in the FAQ, it could still be OK. I am not sure whether SDG should be armed with lances or swords. The former are better on a charge, the latter if stuck in melee. I gave the Knight-Draconis Flaming Weapon, although in practice he is going to be casting Mystic Shield a lot.

  2. I was there also, and play Bill locally (on occasion, the games do not last long).

    1) Yes, it was a named giant.

    2) Bill makes no mistakes whatsoever.

    3) He know your army too, so he knows your mistakes as soon as you make them.

Just want to put it into perspective that we probably could have won the tournament with a list from any army, as he is that good. Most of his opponents conceded within 45 minutes because they were almost tabled by the top/bottom of round 2.

I'm looking at this for petrifex:

    • Arkhan
    • Liege (general with compulsory kit
    • Mason
    • 30 Mortek Guard
    • 5 Deathriders
    • 5 Deathriders
    • Harvester
    • Crawler
    • Shrieker

2 drop battle regiment plus crawler.  I could drop the harvester for some immortis or harbingers to get down to a one drop, but having the extra monster feels worthwhile?  Not sure.  2 crawlers would probably be better, but if the current version of the harvester is ever going to be worth taking, it's during ghur year.

I literally thought of the exact list. You can put all the battleline in hunters of the heartland and make them monster resistant. Also a command entourage for extra artifact and take +1 wound aura on the soul Mason or +1 hit on the Liege.

I wouldn't believe people who are saying this. Being able to dictate who goes first and therefore guarantee that you don't waste a hero phase with nothing to heal/set yourself up for the double is going to be big. Plus, OBR doesn't gain all that much from extra artefacts/whatever.

I disagree. Our second artifact can give +1 hit 12 inch bubble.

  5. Played a 3 game tournament with Knights of the Empty Throne Plaguetouched and ended 2-1 losing to Teclic Lumineth in the final round 25-26.

    Hello,

Just made a 5 round tournament with the following list and made 4-1.

Was a blast to play. There is no real subtility in this list. Stack buff on a unit and throw it at your opponent. Here is quickly how it went.

    1)Changehost conflagration on Blade edge.

Took the first turn, took all 6 objectives. Began to chew through pinks and blues for an eternity. At one time i manage to cut a hole in the wall of pinks to make a second 6" pile in into the flamers, which closed the game. WIN

2)Lumineth Teclis on forcing the hand.

Hard to face but there is an enormous gap between our armies. I let him go first, archers took a few knights away. On my turn i casted teleportation on a fully buffed Varanguard unit and throwed it away in the back of Teclis (ooops moment on his side) then failed the rerolled charge (oops moment on my side) But took the double turn (ooof), made a normal move on the T-pose guy and OBLITERATED him and the cathalar and a dozen of archers while the rest of the army made some long charges on spearmens or just get closer. He ended killing far more guys than i expected but he fought too much time on his side and never took a single of my objectives. WIN

3)Seraphon Dracothion on battle for the ass.

Unsual list. I knew that there was going to be 40 saurus in the sky and a salamander. I let him go first, he tried to cast balewind but i auto-dispelled it. On my turn i tried to cast teleportation but he unexpectedly failed to dispell it so the Varanguard made a 9 charge on the first row of 20 skinks and killed them all while the rest of the knights/varanguards was running forward, hoping for the double. Didn't get it. On his hero phase, Kroak was unable to pierce reliably the 4+ warpsteel (frown) and he teleported his 40 saurus and 20 guards in front of my nose and made the 9" charge. The i began to cut througn the scales while he couldn't pierce the 2+ reroll save. My turn + my double turn i overcharged the 3-man varanguard unit and obliterate all saurus things. unfortunately leaving Kroak to 1 wound, which allowed him to stay in the game but the sorcerer got a lucky arcane bolt that ended his journey. 32-21 WIN

    4)Tempest eye on Total conquest.

The plan was to invade his space and make him loose time in his deployment zone while i score. Unfortunately i missed all my spells and prayers. He had a couple of very mobile units and an annoying aziros that lived far too long and gave him too much points. To his surprise, the irondrakes where unable to destroy the varanguard in one go, which i suspected. But this, coupled with two hard missplay and bad luck was too much. Sometimes you need more than a good plan to win a game. Loss.

    5)Changehost duplicitous on Escalation.

I played his list a couple of time so i know what it is all about. The deployment meant that the LOC and the altar where out of the show for one turn. Pinks are annoying but if you punch them enough they disapears. I gave him the turn one and he took the whole tablewhile making corner charges to immobilize warriors and knights, which was expected but not that soon. He admit he missplayed here as he believed he could score points on turn one which he don't. On my turn i overcharged the Varanguard General and threw EVERYTHING in the 20 pink pack. He lost his big pack too quickly and failed to re-summon it (pfeeew) Then i began my turn 2 which was a quick walk through the rest of the army but he had no teeth capable of realiably kill my threats. WIN.

Curiously a lot of people when complimenting me for my list beeing so cool/badass to watch.

I like the list but there is no real trick. Your things are incredibly tanky. Sure varanguards are overpriced but once you stacks buffs on them you see the return quickly. The artefacts are amazings.

    I haven't made a single 5+ comeback out of 6 tries.

How do you do plaguetouched warband in this list if it requires 7 units and 1 hero?

    List is on page 96.

  8. So I think that the bloodletters are a really good tarpit. MW's on 6's and rerolling 1s, you are getting 12 in combat at a time usually. That's not to shabby they do have rend. Also, they are able to pile in and the thirster allows 6 inch pile in. So you can fight, pile in 6 and fight again. That's pretty good IMHO.

  9. This is exactly how I feel, the wrath axe is super unreliable  and I would rather drop it for wrathmongers, or even for an additional reavers!

I also tinkered with the ideas of dropping the Hexgorger skulls and taking a 5 man unit of skullreapers.

  10. Upcoming 2000 pt tournament at the end of the month. Going to be playing with very top-tier players, and I will be taking Khorne!

Critique my list (I haven't decided yet out of 2)

    REAPERS OF VENGEANCE
    Bloodsecrator w/ Skullshard Mantle
    Slaughterpriest (Killing Frenzy)
    Slaughterpriest (Bronzed Flesh)
Bloodthirster of Unfettered Fury (GENERAL) w/ Mage Eater and the Crimson Crown
    SKARBRAND!

    Blood warriors x10 w/ Goreglaive
    Bloodreavers x10 w/ Meatripper axes
    Bloodletters x30

    BATTALION Gore Pilgrims
    Wrathmongers x5
    Wrathmongers x5

    Hexgorger Skulls

    REAPERS OF VENGEANCE
    Bloodsecrator w/ Skullshard Mantle
    Slaughterpriest (Killing Frenzy)
    Slaughterpriest (Bronzed Flesh)
Bloodthirster of Unfettered Fury (GENERAL) w/ Mage Eater and the Crimson Crown

    Bloodletters x30

    BATTALION Gore Pilgrims
    Wrathmongers x5

    Hexgorger Skulls
    Wrath Axe

  11. Right now, I have available to me:

    10 Knights
    15 Skullcrushers
    20 STD warriors
    40 Blood Warriors
    80 Marauders
    5 Skullreapers
    5 Wrathmongers
    60 Reavers
    1 Juggerlord
    1 Daemon Prince
    3 Slaughterpriest
    1 Stoker
    1 Secrator
    Skarbrand
    BT with very large axe
    Karanak
    5 Hounds
    30 Bloodletters

Laast game I played against KO, I used 2x5 Knights, 40 Marauders, Gorepilgrims (2x10 reavers, 1x5 blood warriors), Chaos Lord on Steed, Warshrine, Stoker, 2 priests.

I got a turn 2 charge off on the knights but they were into his characters. Perhaps I don't really understand the value of the chaos knight, but seems like they really didn't do much damage. He warp lightning and shot 1 unit of knights off the table immediately.  It ended up being a closer-than expected game (literally came down to turn 5 failed charge on secrator), but not s

  12. Trying to put together a stampede list.

    What I have so far:

    Juggernaut Lord

    -flayed

    -slaughterhelm

    Blood Secrator

    Blood Stoker

    Slaughterpriest

    Slaughterpriest

    9x Mighty Skullcrushers

    15x Chaos Warriors

    9x Mighty Skullcrushers

    Battalion: brass stampede

    Hexgorger Skulls

    Critique? Obvious shortcomings?

  13. So today I ended up playing first time with Khorne and I played Kharodran Overlords. It was a new army, but needless to say I ended it having the opponent concede end of turn 2. My list was:

    Goretide:

Daemon Prince w/ Axe and Crimson Crown
    -General and Hew
    3x Slaughter Priest
    1x Secrator
    1x Blood Stoker

    10x Blood warriors
    10x Reapers
    10x Reapers
    10x Reapers
    10x Reapers
    10x Reapers
    10x Reapers

    Karanak
    3x Mighty Skullcrushers

    Battalion:
    Gore Pilgrims
    Dark Feast

I LOVE Dark Feast! Having 6 units of Reapers was a blessing because I could screen SO MUCH. However, I still did not do a good enough job. He dropped a warp lightning vortex and did major damage to my secrator, 2 slaughterpriests, and the stoker. This was so hard for me to understand, how could I not bunch them all up but also avoid something like this? Didn't make a different in the end. I was still able to slingshot the blood warriors 20ish inches into a bunch of dwarves sitting on an objective. I took it turn 1 and got my Daemonprince into charge range with 3 Mighty Skullcrushers. Also, the Blood warriors were really good as a unit of 10! Having to take them is kind of a bummer for Gore Pilgrims, but to be honest they pulled their weight. THrowing the reapers so far up turn 1 would have put them out of the buffs of the secrator. Would have been 20 attacks I guess anyway, so who knows :-p.

Anyway, I ended up controlling all 4 objectives by turn 2 and there wasn't really much he could do to stop me from holding 3 objectives for the rest of the game.
Any killing he did only fed the Bloodtithe, so by the top of turn 3, 20 bloodletters were coming down.

    Changes I would make?

The Daemon Prince didn't do ******. He whiffed in combat. I would probably drop him in exchange for Chaos Lord on Karadrak. Would also drop Karanack, and the Mighty Skullcrushers, in exchange for 2 units of 5 Knights.

I was Surprised by the Mighty Skullcrushers! A unit of 3 tanked some MAJOR damage and then did work! He was definitely my MVP!

  14. Trying to put together a 2000 point list with archaon. Here's what I have so far:

    Archaon
    Slaughterpriest x2
    Blood Stoker
    Blood Secrator

    Blood Reaver x10
    Blood Reaver x10
    Blood Reaver x10
    Blood Reaver x10
    Blood Warrior x5 (Gorefist)

    Warshrine
    Hexforge Skulls

1790 points. Don't have a battalion in there yet, should I go gore pilgrims? Or dark feast? Both?

This list is without Gore Pilgrims.

    Archaon
    Slaughterpriest x2
    Blood Stoker
    Blood Secrator

    Blood Reaver x10
    Blood Reaver x10
    Blood Reaver x10
    Blood Reaver x10
    Blood Reaver x10
    Blood Reaver x10

    Battalion: Dark Feast

    Warshrine
    Hexforge Skulls
    Wrathaxe

    Any suggestions appreciated.

  15. Hey everyone, I just bought 3,300 points of Khorne and I want to jump right in. I was hoping someone could help me out and filter through the pieces that I have to come up with the most competitive list I can put on the table with what I have.

    Here it is:

    Karanak
    5 Flesh Hounds
    Mighty Lord of Khorne
    Bloodstoker
    5 Slaughter Priest
    35 Blood Warriors
    40 Blood Reavers
    3 Khorgath
    3 Mighty Skull Crusher
    6 Blood Crusher
    Khorgus Khul
    Skarr Bloodwrath
    2 Blood Secrator
    Valkia the Bloody
    Aspiring Death Bringer
    30 Blood Letters

I really do appreciate it anything in order to help me sort this out a bit. Oh yeah, Blood for the Blood God, Skulls for the Skull Throne etc. etc.

  16. So I gave in to the calling of Grandfather and have built up the forces of nurgle.

I was looking at the synergy of Legion of the First Prince (chaos ascendant) and Be'Lakor, and am very intrigued. However, I am wondering if the battalion bonus is worth it? (I think it's double damage for Nurgle Units)

    List 1:
    Be'lakor
    Spoilpox Scrivener
    GUO w/ bell and bileblade

    PLaguebearers x20
    Plaguebearers x10
    Plaguebearers x10

    Plague Drones x3
    Plague Drones x3
    Plague Drones x3

    Geminids

    List 2:
    Be'lakor
    Rotigus
    GUO w/ bell and bileblade
    Spolipox Scrivener

    PLaguebearers x30
    Plaguebearers x10
    Plaguebearers x10

    Plague Drones x3
    Plague Drones x3

Any suggestions are appreciated! Not married to anything, just bouncing ideas around?
