  1. I have seen the Warshrine be used as a Chariot with Sorcerer
  2. In good company with Carrot Ironfoundersson.
  3. Yea, saw a video a few weeks back of someone doing it with Warriors and Knights, so there will be some trimming and such in my future, should not be too much of a problem from what I have seen. Hopefully....
  4. To an extend booth Wood Elves and Beastman might be a better fit, certainly for certain aspects. Indeed some years ago the first time I contemplated doing this at length I had settled on Wood Elves before budgetary issues pushed the project onto the backburner. The jungle/forest dwellers and the associated fieldcraft, the hunters and tribal aspects all do speak to those two, and certainly are a large part of Kroot identity, but I feel that while they are part of Kroot identity they are not part of the Kroot essence. ie what makes a Kroot force feel like a Kroot force and not just some bird looking beastman or some elves with beaks. To me this boils down to two things, one a more abstract identity, that of Kroot as mercenary, likely to turn up anywhere and fight for someone else. The other is a more visual thing and it is the kroot gun. Visually distinct and easily identifiable as Kroot to anybody who has been in the hobby for a while. They are also the reason why a Kroot into a Warhammer Fantasy setting project might work in my mind. While they might have some Tau tech in 40k to make them better than human lasguns or autoguns they look like they could be black powder weaponry not to far removed from what is already in the setting such as Empire or Dwarf. Now yes for Fantasy specifically they still look a bit more modern then either of those factions. But in the AoS realms for example I feel they fit right in considering things like the flying dwarf boat lot exist from a tech level perspective. And while I am here now in the Old world section and considering doing the Kroot there, I may yet do it as AoS instead, it just comes down to what set of rules can I most closely match up with the units/visuals to make the army feel good once it is on the table. If I turn up at my local store for a game of Fantasy against an opponent who might not know me and I place onto the table a unit of 10 Kroot with Kroot guns and a Krootox with the big Kroot gun and say these are 10 hungunners and a cannon will that be easier for them to grok then if I say these are 10 archers and a bolt thrower (so high elves as opposed to wood elves I guess)? I don’t know, but I guess that the former is more likely than the latter. Now if I place 10 Kroot that are kroot bodies, but have say spear or handweapon and shields and say these are State Troopers/Glade Guard/Gors then I suspect the opponent is just as likely to accept one as the others and in that regards that works. So I could build an entire Beastman(or woodelves) army with kroot bodies, and it would look good (I hope) and be easy enough for the opponent to get what each unit is, but would it be a Kroot army in fantasy, or a fantasy army that is Krootish? I think Empire gives me a good foundation, with lots of flexibility in units to try and make it work. Assuming I actually do this and not sit on it for another decade. There is in fact a Fantasy army that I think would be an even closer fit of models to rules (or what I imagine the rules to be), and that is the Kislev as shown in Total War: Warhammer. They have blackpowder guns that double up as Axses (so basically a archetypal Kroot gun). Bear Cavalry would be Krootox rampagers, and the warsleeds would be normal krootox and such. However until they get rules I think Empire is the closest I am going to get. Edit: This is not a primary reason, but I think a Krootified Steam Tank would look cool.
  5. I am not that well versed in Dwarf lore, would Gotrek be around at this point?
  6. I have a bunch unbuilt one as I think WoC will be my second Old World army after Bretts. Rough plan (based on the kits I have) is: Lord on demonic mount or Deamon Prince (using the lord from the christmas box or the old Throgg respectifly) 10 Knights 10 Chosen 20 Warriors 1 Chariot 1 Giant 3 Oger/dradon oger or troll or some such (using the Ogorid scupls from the Christmas box) I then have some AoS1 starter khorne themed stuff, I think enough for a BSB, foot lord, 5 more warriors/chosen and 10 maruders
  7. While I am not overly interested in Greenskins, the Idea of a Troll army has a certain appeal. Will be keeping an eye out for when the Journal comes along.
  8. For some reason all the pictures are upside down for me. Still interesting to see how they match up size wise.
  9. If I do this then it probably will not be for a while as I’d like to at least build my Bretonnians, in part as spare parts from there, such as shields, swords etc will probably be useful for the Kroot. However if I do do this then there will be a dedicated hobby tread down in the Painting and Modelling section. I have also been contemplating the eventual expansion to 2000p and a Krootified Steam Tank might look cool. I have a second hand Great Knarloc in need of some TLC, was thinking that could be a stand in for the really big (two headed?) griffon. Lots of options to play around with and plan, now if only there was a proper hound like unit for the Kroot hounds to be as the Militia count as is a bit meh...
  10. A return of the kit from the starter box with the little pony drawn carriage, I alway liked the look as a bit of secenery or set piece.
  11. I am not planning on doing a human Empire army, as I am already doing Bretonnians, and probably Exiles (or Naval themed using the Exiles or Vanilla with Empire allies) so will be able to incorporate a few Empire units I like the look of that way. However I may potentially be doing a count as Empire army, using the new Kroot as a base. I have done a number of Fantasy / AoS to 40k conversion projects and doing one in the other directions seems like fun. Kroot feel like the one that is most likely to fit into the Fantasy of AoS aesthetic/environment. I did a bit of theorying/planning some years ago with Kroot as count as Woodelves, and at the time somebody suggested Empire as they were doing something similar at the time. Now with the new Kroot units I am once again tempted by the idea. Rough plan for 1k with the the count as kroot conversions I am considering currently is as follows, unspent points will go on magic items, banners and such once I actually have the book and can read up on things: Empire of Man Kroot [949 pts] General of the Empire [113 pts] Shaper on new mount (Hand weapon, Lance, Heavy armour, General, Barded Warhorse) Master Mage [110 pts] Shaper (Hand weapon, Level 2 Wizard, On foot, Dispel Scroll, Elementalism) Priest of Sigmar [66 pts] War Shaper (Hand weapon, Great weapon, Light armour, Shield, On foot) 20 Veteran State Troops [175 pts] Kroot Carnivore (Hand weapons, Light armour, Shields, Sergeant, Standard bearer, Musician) 10 State Missile Troops [98 pts] Kroot Carnivore (Hand weapons, Handguns, Light armour, Sergeant, Hochland long rifle) 10 Free Company Militia [67 pts] Kroot Hounds with handler, maybe, open to suggestions for better fit for Kroot hounds (Additional hand weapons, Militia leader) 3 Demigryph Knights [195 pts] Rampagers (Lances, Shields, Heavy armour, Demigryph Preceptor, Standard bearer, Musician) Great Cannon [125 pts] Krootox
  12. Seeing that we now have a dedicated area for all Old World stuff I though a thread for all things Bretonnia might be in order, from Vanilla to Crusade and even the Exiles (of which I will probably be one). For the Lady!
  13. Foreseeable future might just mean that it is not on their current internal roadmap of the next year or two.
  14. Are those the new AoS Ard Boys? Looking good there all ranked up.
  15. Is that a Cities of Sigma Cannon I see? What base is it on and how well does it fit. Was thinking of using one of those as the Bombard for when I do my exiled Bretonnians.
  16. Random question, still waiting on my box and rulebook. If a character is on a different bases size to the unit he is trying to join how does that work. For example a 30x30mm joining a unit of 25x25mm or a 40x60mm joining a unit of 30x60mm?
  17. This is great, thanks. Not having seen the Crusher in real life it was hard to judge his size, though I had suspected he might to short for the giant as I do remember the plastic one being rather lanky and tall. Great to know that he is almost as tall as the old metal one, so if that one dose make a comeback then maybe with a little tactical terrainage I could include a Crusher just for the look. Failing that the suggestion as unit filler might be something to think about. They do, I just don’t yet know how raking allies woks and if Warriors can take Beastman units, so was looking for units in the WoC list that they could fit as from a rules standpoint.
  18. As my Bretonnian box and the books have not arrived yet I have been thinking about what to build as a second army, both so I can switch things up from time to time and to lend out for people to use if they want to try a game. I have a bunch mortal Chaos so Warriors it is I think. I have available: The Christmas box (10 Warriors, 5 Chosen, 5 Knights, Lord on big mount, 3 Ogroid things) Most of the Krone guys from AoS1 launch (5 Warriors, 10 light infantry, 1 Battle standard, 1 Lord with pet) Lord on Lizard thing from a while ago (or most of him I think, not too worried if I can’t find him/use him as I have the lord from the Christmas box) Wharmammer + Sorcerer I have on order with my local independent: Vanguard Slave to Darkness (10 Warriors, 5 Knights, Lord on foot, chariot) Box of Chosen (5 Chosen) Also considering Khagra's ravagers as a source of additional Hero characters / sorcerer Would a Fomoroid Crushers work as a giant or is he to small? So with the above models in mind I was thing something along the lines of the following in terms of unit composition/equipment. 1 Lord on demonic mount to join the Knights 1 Korne battle standard bearer (using the AoS1 guy) – join unit on foot that has mark of khorne 1 chariot / hero on chariot (horse or beast thing?), would this be good for a magic caster? 10 Warriors with hand weapon and shield – Full command 10 Warriors with halberds and shield – Full command 15 Chosen/Warriors with great weapon – Full command, thinking of using the 5 korne AoS1 warriors and spares parts to convert them to great weapons 10 Knights/Chosen Knights with lances The 10 Aos1 Korne light infantry guys could be marauders I guess, but not fussed, they may also end up as some jackles for my world eaters The tree Ogrid things I guess can become Chaos Ogers, or maybe dragon ogers depending on size, or ally in relevant beast man unit??
  19. With The Old World now out in the world officially when can we expect a decision on whether there will be a dedicated section for it?
  20. Still waiting for everything, from the big box to the movment trays and some extra bases...
  21. Still waiting for my box to turn up, so could somebody who has the rule book clarify how Allies work. I’d love to have a Stemtank run by peasants in my Bretonnia army.
  22. So this new expanded Kroot range has me once again contemplating doing a conversion project to bring them into AoS or (maybe Old World). Do Cities of Sigmar still have demigryth knights from the empire range, the Krootox rampages looks like they could be a count as for those, then convert the carnivores into ranged and melee infantry. Normal Kroox could be the new ogre with gunner on top, or perhaps the cannon. We know from the new year shadow there is going be another mounted kroot thing, so maybe normal cavelary there.
  23. With the new Kroxigor I thought it might be time to work on Lizards again, and specifically a Kroxigor centric army now that they can be battleline. They do however appear to have not done enough sunbathing as they are now slower than before and can’t keep up with their little palls. As there are no Kroxigor characters it will have to be a bunch of conversions and count as. Taking the movement, save and wound of the Kroxigor as a baseline and selecting characters that are in line with this I am looking at a 1000p list along the lines of: Version 1 Nakai the Wanderer (Saurus Scar-Veteran on Aggradon) Kroxigor mage (Skink Starseer) Kroxigor 2x Kroxigor Warspawned Kroxigor with Solar Engine (Spawn of Chotec) Version 2 Nakai the Wanderer (Saurus Scar-Veteran on Aggradon) Kroxigor Icon bearer (Saurus Astrolith Bearer) Kroxigor mage (Skink Starseer) 2x Kroxigor Kroxigor Warspawned Thoughts?
  24. Kudos for being featured on Warhammer Community again. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/10/02/converting-the-cities-of-sigmargw-homepage-post-3/
  25. I though that looked farmilliar, is this the second time one of your arimes was on WarCom?
