  1. I think it could work for sure! I'm a big fan of boarboys--got 30 painted along with 20 maniaks myself.
  2. I wrote it the Tuesday afterwards when I could still remember it all! Its a very, very fun army to play and that playstyle is a blast to use. Glad you enjoyed the read.
  3. Here's the write-up! https://plasticcraic.blog/2022/09/22/splitting-bones-like-a-big-boss/
  4. I only failed No Place against Khalebron DoK--4+ rallying and teleporting battleline is a bit much. Waaagh feels like a better choice in Icebone when you have much better mobility. Get Dem Bonez is also interesting to me. And only 8 pages is tactics, the rest is the tournament report
  5. When it matters, it matters a lot. If you intend to have a chance at the high tables, you have to be able to fight in the hero phase to cast and unbind spells. It only really mattered against Khorne and Seraphon, where I got a +5 and +4 respectively, but those were two matches where I really needed to get my spells off. Against DoK it only barely mattered, and against Slaanesh and Nighthaunt it did stone nothing. I'm definitely taking it again.
  6. Hey sorry for the delay! I've got 16 pages of tactics and write-ups coming on PlasticCraic's blog, but the shorthand for Nighthaunt and Seraphon: Incarnate completely turns off a battle trait, our cheap units mean easy screening, and our two good subfactions push out consistent damage. That said, I dont think its a great matchup, but definitely a +50% win chance for us. As for Seraphon, the goal is to get AGGRESSIVE and start threatening objectives ASAP. When left to their own devices, Seraphon will absolutely grind you to dust. The goal is to max points each turn and whatever you can to minimize what they can score. Hard, hard, hard matchup.
  7. After a long hiatus from Bonesplitterz, I took them to the NOVA Open this past weekend and placed 10th out ~160 players! I was in a three-way tie for 8th place and lost out on Strength of Schedule tiebreakers to make it in. Still got Best Destruction. I beat: Nighthaunt - Scarlet Doom on Won't Back Down Khorne - Bloodthirsters on Realmstone Cache Seraphon - Thunderlizard on Silksteel Nests Slaanesh - Pretenders on In the Presence of Idols and lost to Daughters of Khaine - Khailebron on Close to the Chest (by 1 point) Big shout out to @PlasticCraicfor the shell list he made that I shamelessly stole and made slight changes to! The List: Allegiance: Bonesplitterz - Warclan: Drakkfoot - Grand Strategy: No Place for the Weak - Triumphs: Leaders Wurrgog Prophet (150)* - Artefact: Mork's Boney Bitz - Universal Spell Lore: Levitate - Bonded to Incarnate Wurrgog Prophet (150)* - Artefact: Glowin' Tattooz - Lore of the Savage Beast: Glowy Green Tusks Savage Big Boss (65)* - General - Command Trait: Great Hunter Battleline 10 x Savage Orruk Morboys (155)*** 10 x Savage Orruks (165)** - Chompas 10 x Savage Orruks (165)** - Chompas Units 2 x Savage Big Stabbas (80)* 2 x Savage Big Stabbas (80) 2 x Savage Big Stabbas (80) 2 x Savage Big Stabbas (80) 2 x Savage Big Stabbas (80) 5 x Savage Boarboy Maniaks (145)*** 5 x Savage Boarboy Maniaks (145)*** Behemoths Krondspine Incarnate of Ghur (400) - Allies Endless Spells & Invocations Ravenak's Gnashing Jaws (60) Core Battalions *Warlord **Expert Conquerors ***Bounty Hunters Total: 2000 / 2000 Reinforced Units: 0 / 4 Allies: 400 / 400 Wounds: 150 Drops: 14
  8. Each unit is 2 Big Stabba models. Each model has a base. The two orruks carrying a big stabba is a model. Each base gets 3 attacks, so a unit is 2 models for 6 attacks total.
  9. Thanks to the recent 4-1s from @Belmail, myself, and a few other Savage Big Bosses, Bonesplitterz is officially at the top of the meta since the IDK/FS book release and sitting at a 53% winrate since the Maggotkin book!
  10. I look forward to obliterating priority targets with Kragnos
  11. The urge to Unga sometimes has to be subdued so you can Bunga instead!
  12. It depends on what we're dealing with, to be honest. You have to be careful on what you are charging because the goal is to bog the opponent down, not charging at random. I'll always charge plaguebearers first, but I'm almost guaranteed to not charge Mega Gargants unless I can reasonably expect to cripple them. Against slower armies (and on tables with good terrain) you can bodyblock just by getting right in front of them and not charging. That way the opponent has less activations to work with to chew through our units. Additionally, once people know that we can essentially always T1 charge them, opponents typically counter deploy by pulling their models back from their territory edge. If they do, I'll usually play for the double and let them go first. I'm usually pregame moving onto objectives but sometimes I pregame move into cover as well.
  13. If you play a big boss general, you have to put him in hiding and work really hard to not get him killed. A wurrgog general means don't get unlucky with the staring contest or else. My best general so far has been the Weirdnob, since he moves quickly and can position himself away from shooting, magic, etc. Fast'Un allows him to slingshot across the board.
  14. For a Rogue Idol, I'd probably do something like this in some capacity, since you want to take advantage of the 3" reach to fight over your own Orruks on foot, or go charging in T1 if they leave something squishy out in the open: Allegiance: Bonesplitterz- Warclan: Icebone- Grand Strategy: Hold the Line- Triumphs:LeadersSavage Big Boss (65)- General- Command Trait: Great HunterWurrgog Prophet (150)- Artefact: Glowin' Tattooz- Lore of the Savage Beast: Power of the Were-boarWardokk (80)- Lore of the Savage Beast: Power of the Were-boarBattleline30 x Savage Orruks (495)- Stikkas- Reinforced x 210 x Savage Orruks (165)- Stikkas10 x Savage Orruks (165)- StikkasUnits4 x Savage Big Stabbas (160)- Reinforced x 110 x Savage Boarboy Maniaks (290)- Reinforced x 1BehemothsRogue Idol (430)Total: 2000 / 2000Reinforced Units: 4 / 4Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 180Drops: 9 As for Kragnos + Rogue Idol, it's a bit tougher for space, but this might be worth trying out with Krag + Rogue Idol acting as a 1-2 punch: Allegiance: Bonesplitterz - Warclan: Icebone - Grand Strategy: Hold the Line - Triumphs: Leaders Wurrgog Prophet (150) - Artefact: Glowin' Tattooz - Lore of the Savage Beast: Power of the Were-boar Maniak Weirdnob (100) Kragnos, The End of Empires (720) Battleline 10 x Savage Boarboys (280) - Chompas - Reinforced x 1 5 x Savage Boarboys (140) - Chompas 10 x Savage Orruks (165) - Chompas Behemoths Rogue Idol (430) Total: 1985 / 2000 Reinforced Units: 1 / 4 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 112 Drops: 7
  15. I think they definitely can. I believe the meta is shifting to higher wound counts being able to outlast all these overtuned, high damage units. The 9th place at the Cherokee Open was bonesplitterz running essentially what you have, but with 5 Boars filling out battleline. He went 3-1-1 with over 200 wounds that just represents a LOT of bodies to chew through. A buddy of mine coined the term "Wound Density Meta" and I feel like that is where we are going.
  16. I played with Gargants for a long time. They work great in the army! Especially Kraken Eaters kickong objectives and just generally being a nuisance.
  17. Thanks man! I'm going to disagree with you here that Kragnos + XYZ = a Kragnos army. Make no mistake, he's a much needed boost in power, but I'm still a firm believer that Bonesplitterz can compete if the pilot playing it is willing to go deep on playing it. There's a feedback loop at play here with a lot of players, that the casual nature of the army turns off competitive players and thus only beerhammer players end up playing the army. I've had personal great success with Bonesplitterz even before Kragnos was updated, and that was with just Boars and the Rogue Idol. Kragnos is an auto-take, personally, if you want to compete, because its like taking Archaon in Tzeentch--if you can, why not? If he gets nerfed, I'll go back to using Rogue Idols or Mega-Gargants to replace him. Ultimately, he doesn't change how the army plays, he supplements it, and he supplements Bonesplitterz than any other army because they work *perfectly* in tandem.
  18. He does 1 thing super well, which is be really hard to kill for Slay the Warlord. He also does random little things well, like hero phase moving onto empty objectives to grab control! He's been very handy lately.
  19. Here's my tournament report! https://plasticcraic.blog/2022/03/02/going-4-1-with-bonesplitterz-and-kragnos/

  21. Wild that we had 2 4-1s same weekend lol. Honestly, the biggest thing is playing objectives, and keeping your opponents off of them. People get so focused on combat that a lot of the time they charge with their whole army because they can, and end up with half of their 2000 points dead by the top of round 2. Maneuvering onto objectives snd constricting your opponents choices is what works so well for us. By making as complex a board state as possible for your opponent, you create a puzzle that they have to figure their way out of or they lose. Additionally, threat projection is a really powerful tool, since we have so much mobility and being able to charge almost at will. The combination of the two makes your opponents usually rethink their typical deployment strategies, which can open up to bad positioning for them which we can exploit. Finally, you can win only when you can dictate combat. You have to be able to decide where the combats begin and end, because while we have a lot of wounds, armies like Stormcast can chew through them efficiently. Kragnos is the hammer to our entire army's anvil.
  22. Thanks man!!! I am tired on a level I did not know was possible but what a weekend it was. Getting best in Destruction took the cake. Kragnos is a MONSTER, pun intended. And boars put the fear of Gorkamorka into everyone they played against. When I have brain cells again I'll write up a report!
  23. 1-2 going into Saturday-- He lost to 60x Irondrakes Hallowheart and Varanguard + Archaon but won against SCE with 6x Longstrikes + Stormdrake guard
