  1. i keep hearing about how rend is so great. I get the reach part 3 scythes are better than 2 swords, but the rend itself doesnt make up for the extra attack and the MW bonus, because even against 2+ saves a sword still has better damage.
  2. 2 quick questions: 1. Are kurnoth hunters with scythes even still worth it compared to greatswords? Their Damage per model is lower against every possible target (even before the mortal wounds abilitiy of the swords the scythes only barely pull ahead against 3+ and 2+ saves) but they do have an extra inch of range 2. Is there any goo reason to give a tree revenant scion an enchanted blade. Before anything else, both weapons have the same damage output, but with Martial memories you get one reroll to hit or wound per phase, which is better on an attack that deal 2 damage than on an attack that deals 1 damage.
  3. I'm really wrestlig with the lists right now, i do love melusai, but making them basically the whole army might feel a little monotone. But I read about the vyperguard, and the all snake army could be just that. Not sure if melusai could realistically become hag queens, but maybe i can reflavor them to take their prayer power from morathi directly, since melusai know they arent really serving khaine. Partially related question: is it a common strategy to deep strike Morathi via Mistress of illusion and then transform her to make the expansion of her footprint take her effectively closer to the enemy for a more likely charge?
  4. Thank you, foxicious! I think this is valuable input. I might reduce the number of stalkers. I do like their aesthetics, but i was going to model the sisters with the unmasked stalker heads anyway so their look won't be lost. Their obvious strength seems to me that they're really the only thing in the army that can deal damage from more than 12" away without having to cast a spell. But i see that their damage potential is a bit limited. As for slaughter queens, i wouldn't really take them for aesthetics. The model looks way too static for my taste and the hag queen is just prettier altogether in my opinion. Also for a while i thought i remembered them to be wizards, but i think i just remembered wrong from reading that they can unbind spells. I like the first list you posted a lot, i might build off of that for a really pretty snake army. The second one is fun too, I obviously like witches as well, and i have heard that they have a lot of punch (and I would think their hornblower's run and charge probably makes them effectively faster than melusai with their 8" base move, particularly with the cauldron guard bonus), but i don't want them to be the main part of the force.
  5. Thank you! So in the first list i could drop one unit of stalkers and id have enough points for up to two extra queens and i could just fuse the 2 5-girl units of sisters. I may have to think about an alternate structure to implement this in the other two lists. It would break some of the requirements (either battleline or the units needed for the battalion)
  6. Hey everyone While i've been playing 40k on and off for over a decade now, I only recently decided to give AoS a serious shot. Though i dont really have any game experience so far, I already have a fairly substantial Sylvaneth army (most of which comes from leftovers of Wood Elves boxes i had bought for conversion purposes) and i'm currently looking into branching out into Daughters of Khaine.
  7. Hello everyone! I'm currently strongly considering finally making the Daughters of Khaine army i have been wanting, basically since morathi and the melusai were revealed. I'm trying to find a happy medium between using the models I like the most and having a decently effective army for potentially slightly more competitive casual play (I don't have a fixed group so I don't want to get completely flushed off the table if i happen to play someone who brings something tougher, but im also not looking for a list that wins me tournaments). I'm hoping to basically buy nothing that i'm never going to use after a testing period so I would like to plan everything ahead of time. I've been rolling a few ideas around in my head and I just wanted to get some feedback which of the following 2k pitched battle lists would be a solid army to build towards. All of these are made with Khailebron as their Temple. I'm leaving choices of prayers, spells, relics and command abilities out, since those can be anything without having to worry about the models. But im happy to take advice on those. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Temple Nest Battalion - Bloodwrack Shrine, General - 5 Blood Sisters - 5 Blood Sisters - 10 Blood Sisters - 5 Blood Stalkers - 5 Blood Stalkers - 5 Blood Stalkers Cauldron Guard Battalion - Hag Queen - 10 Witch Aelves - 10 Witch Aelves - 5 Khinerai Lifetakers - 5 Khinerai Lifetakers Total 1940 pts ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bloodwrack Medusa Hag Queen Temple Nest Battalion - Bloodwrack Shrine, General - 5 Blood Sisters - 5 Blood Sisters - 5 Blood Stalkers - 5 Blood Stalkers Cauldron Guard Battalion - Hag Queen on Cauldron of Blood - 10 Witch Aelves - 10 Witch Aelves - 5 Khinerai Lifetakers - 5 Khinerai Lifetakers Total 1960 pts ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Morathi Hag Queen Slaughter Queen Temple Nest Battalion - Bloodwrack Shrine, General - 5 Blood Sisters - 5 Blood Sisters - 10 Blood Sisters - 5 Blood Stalkers - 5 Blood Stalkers - 5 Blood Stalkers Total 2000 pts ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So as you can see, i really like the snake girls, theyre the main draw of the Daughters for me. But i'm also a fan of the unmasked versions of the regular witches and khinerai. Really the only models in the line that don't appeal to me are the doomfire warlocks and the various brass masks (which i guess i can just model the miniatures without). The first list has a pretty significant 60 point hole, which i guess i can fill with a command point. In the second list i could put the hag queen on foot into the battalion and put a slaughter queen on the cauldron, which would fill that 40 point gap. But I'm not even sure if the slaughter queen is that much better, considering she doesn't have the witch brew. The third list has the big lady herself. And im considering getting an extra box of melusai just to convert everyone in there into snakes (including the goading spear wielders on the shrine and morathis aelf form). Im just hoping that the army doesn't look or feel a little monotone to play with being basically nothing but melusai and the characters that support them.
