  1. A second draft of the army I was looking at before: Allegiance: Cities of Sigmar- City: Living CityMortal Realm: GhyranLeadersSpirit of Durthu (300)- General- Command Trait: Ironoak Artisan- Artefact: Spear of the HuntDrycha Hamadreth (320)Battlemage (90)Battlemage (90)Battleline20 x Freeguild Handgunners (200)20 x Freeguild Handgunners (200)10 x Freeguild Guard (80)- Halberds and ShieldsUnits10 x Shadow Warriors (110)10 x Shadow Warriors (110)5 x Sisters of the Thorn (130)BehemothsCelestial Hurricanum (220)Endless Spells / Terrain / CPsEmerald Lifeswarm (50)Extra Command Point (50)Total: 1950 / 2000Extra Command Points: 1Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 123 Durthu and Drycha hop out of the forests to kick ass - or I can send the handgunners in instead to do a lot of shooting and move onto a vacated objective. The Hurricanum buffs the other group of handgunners - or I can swap it for some Kurnoth Hunters if i split one of the handgunners units up. I've got fifty points left to do one of a few things with - upgrade one of the battlemages to more sisters of the thorn (or swap one and the freeguild guard for another twenty handgunners or crossbows, which seems smart if not terribly interesting.)
  2. Hey folks, I'm trying to decide what to do for my next army, and one of the things I want to sketch together is a Living City list suitable for tournaments. I'm thinking of Spirits of Durthu (one of which has the Fight First relic) jumping out of the sides of the board, plus Shadow Warriors shooting out of cover. Previously I've played Khorne and LoN so I'm hoping for something with lots of shooting and healing. My first draft is as below: Allegiance: Cities of Sigmar - City: Living City Mortal Realm: Ghyran Leaders Nomad Prince (120) - General Battlemage (90) - City Role: General's Adjutant Battlemage (90) Spirit of Durthu (300) - Artefact: Spear of the Hunt Spirit of Durthu (300) Battleline 20 x Wildwood Rangers (260) - City Role: Honoured Retinue (Must be 5-20 models) 10 x Wildwood Rangers (130) 10 x Wildwood Rangers (130) Units 10 x Shadow Warriors (110) 10 x Shadow Warriors (110) 10 x Shadow Warriors (110) Battalions Viridian Pathfinders (140) Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs Emerald Lifeswarm (50) Extra Command Point (50) Total: 1990 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 2 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 109 However nothing in the Viridian Pathfinders batallion really does it for me: I like the extra command point and relic but ultimately its not necessary for this list (unless i'm desperate to get both Durthus in turn one AND I fail my Adjudant roll.) If I take that out, I need a general and battleline (and enough units to take the Sylvaneth) but I have 790pts to play with. What would people suggest? I could take an Assassin to make the shadow warriors Battleline, which would deal with one issue, but I suspect what I'm missing here is more bodies on the table. so I might as well have a non-ridiculous general and some less specific Battleline. Any suggestions?
  3. Ah, that was us! I was the one with the Khorne.
  4. Not identical, but looks very similar within artistic license - see the pointy ears with lots of earrings, the little upward crescent on the forehead, the big crest thing on top of the head, the banding on the horns, even the defined edge of the botton of the mask. If that's Tyrion, he's cosplaying as his brother's cat.
  5. Note that the warscroll numbers of models ("any number of models") is different from the Matched Play profiles given in the back of the book (2-12). If you're playing matched play, you need to use the Matched Play numbers (so each unit needs to be at least 2 models).
  6. I believe the concept art included mounted archers, so I would imagine there will be an alternate build for that.
  7. For what it's worth, I run a Goretide Bloodsecrator with the Thermalrider's Cloak -essentially giving his aura a 32+d6" aura if you run and buff.
  8. Ach, yes, sorry - I meant the right thing (8/2-2 = 4-2 = 2) even if I typed the wrong one.
  9. Is there anything in the Slaves book that reduces enemy charge distances other than the Daemon Prince of Khorne? In a test game the other day, an enemy charged through Entangling terrain, and we realised that because of +/- modifiers before multiplication/division, that -2 effectively became -4 and caused a roll of 8 to fail a 3" charge. Is there anything I can use to set this up more reliably?
  10. Hexgorger Skulls cause spellcasting attempts near them to fail on an unmodified roll of an 8, and further bad things then happen. Successful spellcasting rolls near a Bloodsecrator must be re-rolled. If my opponent is near both and rolls a successful 8, does it fail or get re-rolled?
  11. I like that cut a lot - means i can take both the bloodstoker and either hexgorger skulls or a command point.
  12. Sounds like the Daemon Prince is the best bet for my army then, though I'll need to drop something to take him. Is there any particularly fantastic artefact for him? Can't go wrong with the Thronebreakers Torc, which also leaves my Bloodsecrator free to take the Thermalrider's cloak - but the Torc goes perfectly well on the Bloodsecrator too, so the prince could have some other thing.
  13. For the prince I would probably have to drop the Hexgorger skulls - either that or the Bloodstoker, which would leave me enough for a command point.
  14. For context, i'm thinking of how to finish off this list: Skarbrand - 380 Bloodsecrator - 120 Slaughterpriest - 100 Slaughterpriest - 100 Bloodstoker - 80 15x Blood Warriors - 300 10x Bloodreavers - 70 10x Bloodreavers - 70 6x Bloodcrushers - 280 5x Wrathmongers - 140 Hexgorger Skulls - 40 Gore Pilgrims batallion - 140 Skull Altar - 0 180pts remaining. I don't really like skullreapers is the problem (or a bloodthirster which is the other thing I've had suggested) - and with the new Slaves goodies available, I'm trying to plan what else to get. Some knights? A Daemon Prince? Juggerlord? Mighty Skullcrushers? A good candidate for General would be nice, since none of the existing heroes care much about Melee damage, and while the thronebreakers torc is perfectly respectable on a Bloodstoker, I'd rather give him the Thermalrider's Cloak.
  15. Would other people agree that Khorne Chaos Knights are better than Skullreapers? I like the knights much more than the skullreaper models, and have exactly 180pts to spare.
  16. At a guess, because you want the VLoZD getting up in people's grill, which is quite a precarious position. Since your ability to resurrect is based on your general, having them hiding at the back is a lot safer.
  17. Sounds like, for the moment at least, the consensus is that I can do better than the Flesh Hounds? Everything else is cool, right? That at least puts off the decision for a bit longer, since I can paint the Warriors/Reavers/Wrathmongers now, and get the last 200pts done after seeing if there's anything from Slaves to Darkness I want to bring in.
  18. Are skullreapers that much better than a punchy character? I'm not entirely a fan of the model, and they're a lot of money for something to use once and leave sat around. A Daemon Prince/Manticore/Ghorgon*/Juggerlord*/Skullcrushers* is all something I either own (the *) or would probably enjoy painting and can put on a shelf.
  19. A Daemon Prince is possible, but I think I'd rather see how his new rules turn out, since the Slaves To Darkness battletome is due. I could probably paint either a daemon prince or Juggerlord after the book is announced How good is the Chaos Lord on Manticore? I love that model.
  20. Hmm - I think another Bloodthirster is beyond me (didn't really enjoy painting skarbrand), but some Skullreapers, a Mighty Lord, or Karanak is possible. (I also have a lord on Juggernaut or some Skullcrushers available?) What would you suggest I lose for an extra punchy unit?
  21. I'm attending a tournament in January and want to plan my list far enough in advance that I can get it all painted. Skarbrand - 380 Bloodsecrator - 120 Slaughterpriest - 100 Slaughterpriest - 100 Bloodstoker - 80 15x Blood Warriors - 300 10x Bloodreavers - 70 10x Bloodreavers - 70 6x Bloodcrushers - 280 5x Wrathmongers - 140 5x Flesh Hounds - 100 5x Flesh Hounds - 100 Gore Pilgrims batallion - 140 Skull Altar - 0 That leaves 20 points. I could swap the Bloodstoker for a command point and some Hexgorger Skulls - it's a team tournament, and I can make my niche "no magic allowed", possibly with Karanak as well. The basic vibe is to get lots and lots of mortal wounds out of Skarbrand, and ideally also the bloodcrushers. With a Goretide charge as well, thats three fast units hitting very hard turn one. One possibility is to use the Goretide command ability with the Bloodsecrator, and get a first-turn-charge with the blood warriors (in which case, the best thing to do is to combine the units I think.) Another option is to go Reapers of Vengeance and use the command ability to let Skarbrand pile in and attack again. They also have more "no wizards allowed" abilities. Is this anything? What can I take to improve it? Ideally I'd prefer not to have too many extra things to paint.
  22. I think it's very likely to be the Sacrosanct Chamber, since they're the new thing, matched up against Nighthaunt.
  23. A better predictor of what gets a battleforce seems to be what's new in the first half of the year/the second half of the last year. I'd bet on this year's including some of Skaven/FEC/Slaanesh.
  24. I mean... they're an allegiance ability and one plastic hero and one plastic unit. I doubt they're long for this world as a "faction", even if the individual models last.
  25. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Ogors get a release like we're expecting then Slaves will be the only faction without an updated book. Maybe the Dark Aelves too, depends if they're in CoS.
