  1. Just curious, are people submitting a single e-mail containing all of the requested FAQ's or one e-mail per FAQ asked? I assume a single e-mail.
  2. It would be a MASSIVE improvement if Prince Vhordrai's CA could be used either on himself OR a SBGL unit OR a unit with the "Vampire" keyword. I would happily settle of any of the 3. Perhaps if the rumors about 3.0 are correct, that we will be generating more Command Points then this might see more use, but I rather use my scarce Command Points elsewhere (most of the time).
  3. In my opinion Prince Vhordrai's Command Ability is not something you build around (unless you run a VLoZD with him), rather it is an added bonus. So I rarely consider the Command Ability when building lists with the Prince. For the June tournament I'm attending I will be running Kastelai with Prince Vhordrai and the Coven Throne with the Dolorous Guard Battalion. However, I don't expect this to be a viable list in a month or two from now. It is going to be scary with the punching power of Prince Vhordrai and the wound shrugging from the Battalion.
  4. The only thing I've considered the Wight Kings for was the Wight King on Steed to be a fast (fairly cheap) Hero to support Blood Knights. It really hurts not having a Vamp Lord on steed. If GW didn't want a Vamp Lord on steed then it would have been nice if the unit champion for Blood Knights could act similar to the Hekatos in OBR, issuing basic command abilities and Deathless Minions. In regards to the Reikenor + COGs, I like it. I've considered something similar in Kastelai. I am also thinking of a list for Vyrkos using Belladamma + COGs, having a unit of Blood Knights to charge in early (very doable on boards where you and the opponent at 18" away) but also have a unit of Grave Guard pop out of the graves to also charge in. In this build I was considering Drive by Deathstentch Command Trait so everything is re-rolling wholly within 9" of the Commander.
  5. I like it! I too am not a huge fan of the Vengorian Lord model, I'm still debating what I want to do there. Maybe make a huge creature of some sort or go the route of a more "normal" looking Vampire.
  6. I hope so! I'm really bummed about the VLoZD. I have always preferred generic heroes to named heroes. But now, especially based on points Prince Vhordrai is just so much better. Similar points, but the Prince has the D6 Chalice, a better spell, and a Command Ability. Before the VLoZD's Command Ability was really good IMO and it is a shame GW removed it. If they just removed the Chalice heal but kept the Command Ability then I would definitely be using the VLoZD in more lists.
  7. Agreed, which is why I'm not going to buy a ton of models or build a ton of lists until 3.0 comes out. Assuming it is out end of June / start of July I'll have one tournament before 3.0 so I'm just going to play a list using models I've got. One large change that would be a positive for this army is if the rumor about Command Point generation is true. This army is so hungry for CPs that if we have a way to get more or generate more it will be a big plus. I suspect "generals" may contribute to more CPs, seeing how we are seeing more of the "this model counts as the army general in addition to the model you pick" or Vyrkos having access to a lot of generals.
  8. There is also the Legion of Night "Unbending Will" Command Trait that provides battleshock immunity wholly within 12" of the general.
  9. Can you PM the SBGL subreddit for some reason I can only find the AoS reddit.. odd.
  10. Cannot speak for others. I'm down here in Houston, TX. We have this thing called "The Texas Masters" where the "Big Cities" (Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio) have local 1 day tournaments (3 games) throughout the year and then each city hosts a Major Tournament (2 day, 5 games) and you're ranked state wide. end of the year, Top 20 in the state get "invited" to play in the Masters which happens in January. Everything is based 100% of matched play. Now that isn't to say there aren't several of us that will get together to play an informal game here and there and I'm sure several would be OK using these rules. However, for me personally I usually try and do 1 tournament a month for my "warhammer time" and thus it is Matched Play.
  11. I'm kind of in the same boat. Aside from one huge narrative event this summer (where we can use Anvil characters), all of my area is heavy Tournament (matched play) events.
  12. Oh for sure. The Anvil rules can be abused / are sometimes better than what can actually be used. However some of it sounds like it could be implemented. Honestly I feel like VAMPIRE units should have something similar to LRL that when you select one VAMPIRE unit to fight you can immediately select another VAMPIRE unit to fight. Or make that part of a bloodline. But there is definitely some cool thematic elements that could have been brought over into the book.
  13. All of this sounds so amazing and pisses me off that it wasn't in our book for matched play with the appropriate points allocated to the units.
  14. Wow sounds like a dream that should be in the actual Gravelords book lol.... What is the spell lore? Is it that 2+ ward save you were saying? I agree with Neil, I'm not a fan of the Bridge since we have so many ways to deep strike and/or outflank. I am more thinking about using COGs. So you can outflank or Gravesite summon units and hopefully get the 7" charge. With Hero support to re-roll (with a CP or free charge re-rolls in Vyrkos with Command Trait) it should be a decent success rate. Charging in a blob of 20 (or 30) Grave Guard would murder things.
  15. Agreed. Shame it cannot be used in Matched Play. Although I do understand some Anvil characters can get super broken. However, the difference between normal Anvil and Anvil of Blood is that the normal Anvil is used across all armies. Since Anvil of Blood is specific of Gravelords ONLY, then GW could have tailored it for matched play in mind. This would solve the problem that Vampires on foot are really boring AND it would allow for custom Vampires. Maybe make it a points premium to allow this but still options.
  16. Actually, you might be correct as I re-read the core rules. It says "Add up the damage that was inflicted. The player commanding the target unit must then allocate a number of wounds to the target unit equal to the damage that was inflicted." It is kind of a grey area I think (unless there is an FAQ out there, not sure). You can make the argument that you allocated 3 wounds to that model, but sine it currently has 4 then it stays up with 1 wound and at the end of the phase the wounds characteristic drops back to 3 but with the model having 1 wound allocated to it.
  17. Yeah I'm a little excited for it. Our big competitive tournament group is doing a large scale narrative battle in July where each person gets like 3-4k points and it is going to be a massive (multiple tables/games at once) war. Anvil of Apotheosis characters ARE encouraged and "competitive" lists will be rejected. The point is for all of us competitive people to bring our fluffy BS lists, lol. Right now the plan is all Grand Alliances vs. Chaos. Pretty sure he dies. Because he has a wounds characteristic of 4 and has taken 3 wounds. Then after the "buff" wears off he has a wounds characteristic of 3 and has taken 3 wounds, thus one dead Blood Knight.
  18. I would put the chance of us getting ANYTHING new within the next 1-2 years at less than 5%.
  19. Agreed. If the VLoZD still had its D6 Chalice then I'd consider that over Prince Vhordrai in several other lists. But the lack of the Chalice, a Command Ability, and decent spell REAAAAALLY make it hard to justify over Prince V. I wish they still had a winged vampire or vampire on steed. I'd like a quick cheap-ish Vampire Hero that isn't a NAMED Hero. Problem is with all these named Heroes I don't have many options to slot artefacts/command traits onto without them being expensive. Right now the Wight King is absolute garbage, otherwise the Wight King on steed would be an option. Oh yeah 100%, I definitely do not recommend the Battalion is you don't have 10 Hexwraiths laying around.
  20. Yes, I am going to run Dolorous Guard battalion in a Kastelai Dynasty army at a Tournament in June. Prince Vhordrai's warscroll says he is treated as a general in addition to the model that is chosen the be the army general. Based on the wording of the Dolorous Guard, you shrug wounds and mortal wounds from your "general" to them on a 2+, provided they're within 3". This means you can have 1 unit of Hexwraths bodyguard Prince Vhordrai and the other unit bodyguard your other general. It is going to be a dirty little list and likely only viable for the next 1-2 months, but might as well play it while ya can.
  21. Same exact warscroll, nothing changed except his points. So GW is either trying to price Nagash out of competitive play or there is some sort of change in 3.0 that will justify his cost. Possibly to Arcane Bolt and Mystic Shield among other things.
  22. It does not say return models, just heal. So best used in parallel with lots of high wound things.
