  1. So what do you think about those little guys? Might become my next favorite warband after I had my Hexbane craze. I put my thoughts here, please feel free to discuss them
  2. Hahaha Vanquishers go brrrr... I tried to think of a high attacks low damage 1" reach stormcast unit and as those guys were absolute trash before they'll now actually be really good against big units. Maybe too good. I mean when I saw the models I immediately thought they had two damage and buffing them in units of 10 when half the unit couldn't reach was stupid. Now they do what they were supposed to do although this is definitely a shame for my 15 vindictors that haven't seen a game yet since I painted them...
  3. So what do you think about the changes in Battleline strength with the newest ghb? Vindictors can still hit in two ranks but - the one more rank to fight only applies to models that are within 1/2 an inch of a model that is within half an inch to an enemy. If I'm not mistaken that means liberators, vanquishers, retributors... All that 1 inch range stuff hugely profits while the 2 inch models don't gain anything, right?
  4. Tell me, which Cities of Sigmar units might be worth allying in? Are there any humans worth it? Looking at Flaggelants for those cheap lives...
  5. How often does it really come up? I have few enemies summoning stuff and if they do a table is big and most of the time it's in spaces further away... I mean they have to keep 9" away anyways which leaves a 3" corridor that's scary. I mean I love the little critters (a bit less since not half my heroes get a free one for objective grabbing) but does it do a lot of them? Ps: just realized they now always have 4 attacks, sweet. Oh and while at it: started my stormdrake as a fast 2-day project before vacation. It'll need another accent on the gold, a wash to tie the claws and teeth together and it's rider but so far I'm happy: Let's see how having a monster changes up my games
  6. Having recently painted and not played yet my unit of Raptors I guess I'll really enjoy sniping stuff with meteors Also finally a model to complete all those monsters battle tactics
  7. Thanks for the advice so far Haven't played any model of that size yet, so I'm thrilled to try that guy out. Glad to hear the ability is worth more than it initally appears, I mean compared to other big models at first the Stardrake seems like it won't do as much damage... But I can only choose each model once with the jaws, right?
  8. I'm finally setting out to paint my Stormdrake - now, how to best use his Cavernous Jaws? I mean... I choose models before I hit them. The goal would basically be to destroy coherency, but then again the opponent can just take models I kill afterwards from the side that will be annihilated by that effect anyways if possible. Also it would be best for that to target a unit that already piled in onto you. Am I thinking too much about this? Is it just a bonus up to 3 models killed and I should just pick any since it won't make any difference?
  9. Reaaally bad I don't know about. I think about 1/3 of our heroes don't really serve a purpose. Other than that... Sequitors are even ok I deem but others do their job better. Haven't played prosecutors yet but some people seem to like them. I think the castigators are actually not that trash. If you take six you get 12 wounds opposed to 10 for Judicators. They're not core and have 6 inches less range. The attacks makes them swingy but comes out at pretty much the same. No special bow, but let's be honest everyone has theirs on the prime because that was better last edition. Deadly wounds opposed to +1 hit or -2 rend in total. Might be worth it in some cases. They're objectively worse but I'd argue even they aren't utter trash.
  10. Ah, we were searching in the core rules part of the ghb makes sense, thanks Yeah the last edition keeps creeping in my head fairly often regarding the core rules. My opponent had his second game this edition and mine was like the 6th... Shock and awe would only have kicked in twice either way. The celestial warbeingers I remembered turn 4 which helped. it was a fun game. An honest scrap for once, being shot by big yellers and overlords before I could reach them. Big yellers were infuriating. - to charge almost always, a rogue Idol in hiding and the big bird with "move in the herophase once" meant two monsters in my face turn one, killing almost 800 Points of stuff turn one, then came my annihilators without much support. Was a funny list but not fun to play against
  11. Ah I somehow read that differently. I still need a lot of routine, still forgetting a lot of stuff and getting stuff wrong 🙄And how is it with starting the game? My opponent said that because the priority for the first player to finish is just behind the article on what happens on a draw, you only get the advantage if you roll a draw first round. Since everyone on the internet is always all over the one-drop stuff, I was wondering if that was correct. Otherwise there wouldn't be much use in those batallions... 1645 Points (it's what my opponent had painted) Celestial Warbringers (I always forget their rule...) Lord Arcanum on Dracoline with Drakescale Armour, Starfall (sadly rolled bad, always only affected heroes...), Scintilating Trail Lord-Imperatant with Arcane Tome, Shock and Awe (wow forgot that the whole game too!) Lord-Castellant 5 Liberators 5 Liberators 3 Annihilators with big hammers (killed a monster and a hero on the charge, were put down fast but I just love them) 3 Annihilators 3 Praetors (for the Imperatant) 3 Evocators on Dracolines Holy Command: Call for Aid My Opponent had 2x10 Morteks Volkmortian Guy on a bone Chair Boneshaper Liege-Cavalos (yeah we realized about the 4 heroes later), with -3 Sword as general 2 Morgast (the faster ones. I found them quite menacing) 5 Cavalry guys 3 Necropolis Stalkers 1 Big Monster think that was it. I was quite impressed with the Morteks, think they were prettty good at their job with their 2 Attacks, small bases and -1. No substantial pictures but the last two fights. The Castellant charged the morteks so they wouldn't come to me and my objective. The cavalos charged the annihilators. Better to do mortals on the charge than to receive them my Evocators in the back would charge the turn after and just manage to kill the Cavalos with their lightning Arcs.
  12. Thanks mate. Sounds like a pain in some instances I'm glad I just had one mortal wound coming my way that did exactly kill the Praetor so we didn't really have to dabble in that question yesterday. Just so I can more confidently look that up next time, where is this procedure mentioned? Btw I actually won for a time. Bonereapers where a nice opponent, elite as well, so the mortal wounds really stuck and not having killed all good units by shooting before the end of round 2 was a nice change for once...
  13. Need a short opinion on Praetors - If I only got one Praetor with 1 wound left and my enemy hits my Hero for let's say 5 damage. Do I a) count the wounds (5), allocate them to my Hero and then do 5 Praetor rolls, since they are a Ward save of sorts and if let's say I roll 5 3-4 they would just be wasted on the Praetor or b) roll all wound rolls one after another until the praetor is dead and then just allocate the remainder of the wounds to the hero.?
  14. Thank you very much I'll have to think how I built them a bit more it seems
  15. Can anyone help me out with the math again? Are starsoul maces worth it? I currently have 3 Paladins with Maces and 9 with Hammers as Retributors. Got a box on the way I want to build as Protectors. So if I convert one hammer to a protector, build them all with the spears and convert two of the Retributors to Maces I'd have 5 maces, 6 Spears and 7 Hammers, meaning I could play a unit of 10 of both and a unit of 5 with up to one mace of the other variant. Never played protectors, they seem almost better than the maces 😅
  16. The anvil seems a bit small, but oh well it got wheels, the storm of shemtek might be the hammering of the runes and runes also explain the +1 to hit. At first I thought that the attack profile seems a bit weak for the guarding dwarves and the Smith but considering you gotta take the horses into account it checks out fine, both aren't meant for melee. I like the idea
  17. I've got one and I'd really like to ally it in with my stormcast. I've got no idea though on what to use it as. And I've got the nagging feeling I came up with something at some point and forgot it 😂
  18. If you have some bits you can do it. I build mine when the box wasn't available yet. Yeah, their weapons are a tad crooked but not too much. My green stuff work on the bracelets is pretty bad though Hammers are from Retributors and the Prime's is from the Dracoth riding named hero (can't think of the name right now). The dead chaos guy from the Sequitors just fit in pretty well the grips of the weapons can be taken from all manner of stormcast with long weapons, they are the same anyways. You have to scrape off half of it for some. You also need an empty hand for the Prime. Don't know where I got it. At least you don't have to model bracelets for him. The others have a hole in their arm without the shield.
  19. @readercolin thanks for the well thought out post, gives me some food for thought and ideas to try out
  20. Have only played one game against warclans since dominion and that was with the old book - has someone had some experience with playing against kharadrons? 1500P against a lot of sky vessels and flying dwarves. In second edition they always flew out of reach and shot at me... I hardly saw melee. Any suggestions for a list? Don't have the new dragon guys but what units might be good against them? We're not playing competitive but the last game against overlords shocked me quite bad.
  21. That's for 2 of them right? Are they much smaller than the stardrake? It's still a long way off until I find some of them with a good price reduction but honestly I did expect more.
  22. Just noticed, someone said that the Sequitors had 3 attacks now but in the app that's not true. On the other hand they have "sacrosanct weapoms" there...
  23. I did miss that indeed. What about Neave and the generic Knight-Zephyros. Neave always sounded kinda appealing for her hero-killing-power, it's sad that that's gone. What am I missing for her and the normal knight having the same points though... Yeah we can spam the generic one or give it artifacts. Is there any artifact in there that would give the normal guy a big enough upgrade?
  24. After having had a look at the Warscrolls... Why exactly are the Javelin Prosecutors more expensive than the Hammer ones? And don't tell me it's because 18" is so much better on such a fast unit and they have the stunning damage potential of ... 5 if they have a boss. Even the ones with Hammers could do double. I mean even if the reach is further the damage is so abysmal. Is it to punish me for paying extra to get the better weapon loadout last edition? That must be it, since it's probably a punishment for me that my 3 Palladors which I bought cheap with Handaxes and painstakingly fitted with spears are now worse off than the option that lazy me should have chosen
  25. Looking forward to them nerfing Dragons to hell in half a year and disallowing the units of 1. Ok I really hope they don't do it, but being able to play a single Trooper was kind of my condition to get a box. I hope the rule of playing one will stick around in subsequent books. It's a bit odd they allow it for Dracoths and Dragons but not Dracolines (or have I just not read about it yet?) Also I really don't like loosing the mass amount of artifacts we had. Did I ever use more than 3 or 4 different ones? No. But I liked the options And the Anvils ability seems to me to be the worst one right now. Which is a shame. I'll have to get in a fight every time now I want to play my army. Since I wasn't invested in the Fluff of the Anvils but only liked the colors and never played Raptors, I didn't make heavy use of the command ability but you know... I had the option and liked the ability and the new one now just feels off Enough whining. Oh no- one last thing... I also really hoped Vanquishers were good, they look dope.
