  1. Thank you both. had a frustrating game this evening losing 11 ungor raiders to battle shock and 18 gors to one gyro bomber flyover. Lost my beast lord first turn too the. Rolled a 1 for the spawn. In a 500 point game, those outcomes were pretty devastating. can you summon using primordial call points when you have no general?
  2. Hello all. QQ: can i use the headstone in a 500 point game? Seems a bit unfair as summoning is a bit op when you consider the points as a proportion of 500 in comparison to 2000.
  3. Ok, I've got some newbie questions. 1. How many spawns for a gavespawn, two beastlord list? I've got two, but I feel like there is a small chance I may one day need three? 2. Objective holding summon unit? 3 points ungor/spawn, 4 points gor, 6 points bgor. The big 10 for my ghorgon. But I'm looking at 5 points - a fast objective holder. Cockatrice v centigors. Both fast, 5v1 model count, flying. Any thoughts on this? 3. Is the desolating herd worth it at 150 points? I'm working on a 1990 list ATM. So I could afford another 20 raiders with 160 points. I know it depends on game and style. But the extra hits for a 6 just don't seem worth 150 points. Please tell me I'm wrong BC I'm already in the process of painting 120 of these things!!
  4. I've finally caught up with this thread. Imho, I agree w Ganigumo on ungors v gors. Having just built 120 ungors, I would. But I have to say, they are amazing. You can't get the poses wrong - they're hilarious. I love them. That one confused head is an absolute gem. Made me laugh every time I'd finished building. Fantastic. But gors too, these models are absolutely beautiful. I haven't done any conversions except for the ghorgon. So I've got 206 models as they come. But they look fantastic. I'm absolutely delighted. Underpainted only so far. I need a final coat of white and then in with the browns. Sorry, this is turning into a diary entry now. Just wanted to share, if anyone is unsure whether to dive in and spend/build this army, do it! Imo, beautiful models - the best. I'm delighted to have made the leap. My only issue is originality - pushing a new idea. I'm a bit dry ATM. I'm going to paint them a variety of skin colours. Unified jungle bases. So my idea - the herdstone - I've bought Vallejo space dust airbrush colours. Anyone tried this? I'm torn between, this could be a great new magical way of representing the stone and... this will look like a karaoke microphone. Any thoughts? I should say, thank you to all you experienced players who have helped shape my idea of what I want to do on this thread. I'm totally happy and excited to be building this army and I'm confident that my direction in build represents exactly how I want to play because of all the advice.
  5. QQ: I've noticed on a batrep that the WF Taurus can backfire. So what do people think is better - WF Taurus, or another 10 ungor raiders?
  6. "Hi Sam24, welcome to the Beasts of Chaos Herd! " Thanks Dolomedes! And thank you for this phenomenally detailed advice. Brilliant idea with Gashrak. I've actually been trying really hard to get a 200+ model BoC army. Though I've now learnt that Gavespawn is pretty much a must which means I need as many heroes as possible. This inevitably lowers my ability to get bodies on the paint table. I had been searching high and low for a Balewind Vortex, so I understand the issue but love the idea. Below is my current plan. I've bought everything that is currently available (no ungors or ungor raiders as yet). I did get a start collecting box, so I have built a fantastic ghorgon. But he will be for summoning. Expensive in PCP's and unlikely I realise. But as I said before, I'm going for high model count for the run on team. So this isn't a list that will excite anyone - no new ingenuity, but I'd appreciate feedback from those who have the experience of having played it. The idea is to ambush the shooters taking advantage of the desolating beastherd buffs. Run up from the front with the rest and hold those objectives as long as possible. It's pretty close to the lists I've been reading about around pages 140 ish. Allegiance: Beasts of Chaos - Mortal Realm: Ghur - Greatfray: Gavespawn LEADERS Beastlord (90) - General - Command Trait : Unravelling Aura - Artefact : Mutating Gnarlblade Beastlord (90) - Artefact : Brayblast Trumpet Great-Bray Shaman (100) Great-Bray Shaman (100) - Lore of the Twisted Wilds : Wild Rampage Great-Bray Shaman (100) - Lore of the Twisted Wilds : Savage Dominion UNITS 10 x Bestigors (120) 10 x Bestigors (120) 20 x Gors (140) - Spears & Beastshields 20 x Gors (140) - Spears & Beastshields 40 x Ungors (200) - Mauls & Half-Shields 10 x Ungors (60) - Mauls & Half-Shields 30 x Ungor Raiders (240) 30 x Ungor Raiders (240) 10 x Ungor Raiders (80) BATTALIONS Desolating Beastherd (150) ENDLESS SPELLS / TERRAIN / COMMAND POINTS Ravening Direflock (30) TOTAL: 2000/2000 WOUNDS: 205
  7. Hello to the BoC community. I've been working through all these pages to get a grip on how my list is going to work or not. I'm almost finished with the reading. But one thing I havent seen the answer to from this is the following: With the headstone ability in sac d3 models gain that many PCP's... I'm thinking I need a unit of ten ungors to stay within 3" and a hero too. Am I right? Or is it possible to use another more active unit from your army to not only sacrifice from but that can also carry out other function simultaneously. I'm a BoC virgin FYI
  8. Yes I'm looking at that now. I was using a few spellweavers to heal up EG backed up with SOTW. Pretty basic plan. So, if I go for hallowheart, I can do the same with sorcerous' at d6 wounds rather than d3?! I'll take it. I should say that I play against a friend who is playing bretonnia knights. So his options are even more limited than pure wanderers!!
  9. I play a wanderers list just for fun. Enjoy it very much. Essentially eternal guard backed up by sotw. But are the eternal guard not a bit OP? H/W/S ON 2/3/3.?!?! This is with the bonus of no move, but per turn. As long as you don't pile in, you don't move on your opponents turn. Two attacks each on twos and threes, too much no?
  10. Thank you so much for all the clarification! I've just re-based on this advice and it looks so much better. Before it looked like he was in a bloody boat. Makes sense on the artefact. I might still do that on the sly though! Bases and models now ready for under painting ! Thank you
  11. Thanks for the confirmation. I've seen it online on a much smaller base and I just feel that's too much or an advantage. I love basing so I'll go with you and go big! Also, can I put the legendary fighter artefact on the griffons beak?! (On the subject of OP)
  12. Hello, looking for help - I'm building a bretonnia army. On the bases. For the king on hippogryph I have the old griffon looking creature with a claw up and the king on top. Smallish model. AOS base sizes are saying to me I need a 105x70 base - that is so big in comparison to the model! Is this correct?! Should I just get a more realistic size given the model I've got. I find the stats a bit OP as it is, if I get a small base, I feel that makes this model even more OP in combat. Any advice?!?! Sam
  13. Got to say I agree. I'm not happy about this. I'm very much Tolkien style. I was actually thinking about doing a dispossessed army as well as wanderers. To give new points values a couple months ago thereby indicating everything has a future, only to do this. Not happy. Although, I should admit, I don't really know what this all means. Surely they can't withdraw anything? Therefore, all current combinations should remain playable regardless of what happens?
  14. Thanks man. I really love the wild rider models. Not a fan of the gushing hair on the riders, bit the deer are fantastic. I hope they get the treatment this Sam chap is intimating they might.
