    FFS, thanks for the spoiler...

Just because "you know", doesn't mean the rest of us do. Use the spoiler tags in future for the schmucks like me that weren't aware. This is as irritating as when some numpty on twitter spoiled broken realms Teclis.

Sorry but this has wound me up. It's just inconsiderate, it really is. In a world that's pretty faecal, toy soldiers and advancing narrative brings some joy. Spoilers like this really aren't fun.

i've edited the post. i'm sorry you got caught but i thought this has been mentioned on the forum/thread before since book 4's been out for a month, and i left out ALL context + the most interesting bits surrounding that event. i also left out exactly how it happened, only that it did to be as general as possible.

where is the line we're drawing for spoilers here though? i wouldn't have said anything about book 5 had i read it yet. A month of being "in the wild" seems like a fair enough amount of time to discuss releases, especially when keeping up with Rumors too often involves the latest narratives.

edit: i've read a bit further and seen the discussion on this

Personally I love the direction AOS and the Narrative is going.

my only trepidation is that if Kelly really wants 9/10ths of the Realm discs to be held by Chaos... 4e can only have so much of everyone else losing. Like if Skaven took 1/3rd of the Great Parch, that sounds like Aqshy is now 9.33/10ths full of Chaos? where is the hope they say they want in AOS if Skaven and Chaos destroy more Cities than got founded? etc.

starting to really feel like Malerion and/or Tyrion will be the narrative tools used to put Order back on the offensive, whenever that is.

if Silent People are still on the table I hope they quite literally eat the Skaven out of Ghur

    edit: i don't want to write 9/10ths anymore 😂

oh they FINALLY brought the site back up to par with 2e!!! there was not the same level of Realms info through most of 3e... this is fantastic work by the web team!!!

After watching the new edition trailer again and seeing the final shot I would love a new mordheim game. This time set in either an almost defeated rat city or dawnbringer city (or both). I love warcry but something with a stronger RPG element would be great.

i'm expecting this tbh, AOS deserves its own Mordheim if Ulfenkarn isn't going to be it! the last shot of the 4e trailer also felt like a co-op action rpg shot. Space Marine 2 is 3 player co-op for example...

I was of the impression it was also the goal of 3rd edition.

I.e. The Realms are very much in thralls of Chaos (a post-Apoc setting), Thunderstrike is a Stormcast reboot (design-wise), we got basic humans archetypes in drove (Warcry, CoS, Darkoath), and the Dawnbringers are in a way a re-installement of Season Of War : Seeds of Hope and Firestorm (Order crusades founding new Cities) from 1st edition.

so was i, and yet :/

we did get quite the eventful 3e, but Phil Kelly in his interviews once again said they want the realms to feel like "they're 9/10ths Chaos". which to me means that the only places Order/Death/Destro really exist in are the parts of the Realms that have maps.

we can only hope the store-run Cities campaign lets more get founded.

I love the Sacrosanct aesthetic of warrior wizards with the cloaks etc  but much much prefer the new proportions. Maybe it's just hopium but I reallly hope some of the Sacrosanct units get updated to the Thunderstrike armour too like this guy and character in Dominion. If they're not updated with the (assumably) wave of SCE with their Battletome, I think I should be able to convert the look I want. Vigilors with some kitbashed staffs could be great Evocators! 😄

Sacrosanct might get a hero or two as wardens of the Ruination chamber?

    Spoiler

We also know Astreia (model hero) died to Ushoran, which kind of screamed "we're thunderstriking her" to me. only problem is she's in the Hammers chamber not Hallowed Knights and I'm not sure the precedent on switching chambers?

we gotta keep in mind that #AOSreforged means the team is trying to solidify/clarify the lore so new people can be onboarded better. Expect them to address the common complaints that "prevent" other Warhammer fans especially from jumping into AOS.

i'm...tentatively curious about this. it would also explain why "SIGMAR LIED" was something we already knew about Stormcast.

They literally said the next post is tommorrow.

Watch this space for more information – starting tomorrow with an examination of the Mortal Realms. What are they, who lives there, and how did we get to where we are today?

this kinda feels like they're going to go all-out with a full (re)introduction to AOS as a setting, along with the 4e rules?? they're going to get me extremely excited for "AOS Reforged" if this is the case

Glad it's confirmed back in Aqshy. I know, I know, people wanted somwhere new - and I totally get that - but as a Fyreslayers player I'm bias.

if the Skaven edition does not update their other mortal enemies like Gitz and duardin... I will be shocked, confused, and disappointed

Plus they said the starter play-mat will be both Aqshy & Ghyran giving us a nice scope to use both Realms like AoS1.5 had started in 2017 as both realities became important between Seeds of Hope & Firestorm campaign.

    It’s all circling together again.

could you DM me the full sized image of this? expanding it doesnt do much of anything 😔

Never. If they do that the game would change forever in a bad way. You cannot get your playerbase to get used to something that they enjoy and it is one of the key characteristics of the game and then remove it completely without consequences.

the way they've set up the Realms, they could probably infinitely rotate between them. i know people aren't thrilled we're going back to Aqshy, but the fact that skaven are ripping their sub-realm into part of Aqshy means there could always be this push-pull within them. Nagash could help force Skavenblight back into the subrealm, maybe Tzeentch steals the GHR idea and rips part of its own Realm into Chamon or something.

    1) We can clearly see spears here

    2) Clanrats have allways know to use spears

    3) These guys or the guys from the trailer don't really look like stormvermin at all. Again, stormvermin are heavily armoured (literally) and wear hallberds.

    4) Liked by Whitefang

    5) When stormvermins get an update, it most probably won't be to make them poorer, but to make them look more big and elite, like what GW has done with all their updates for elite units so far

i think we need to Occam's Razor this: new clanrat LEADERS have a Stormvermin-looking helmet.

whether these leaders become Stormvermin or whatever might be the better question? we know there's sword/board SV but you're right that this one isn't armored enough.

So it's probably just Clanrat unit leader.

open up the Lumineth for Phoenixes and some more Tyrionic units. Plus it means Lumineth will probably have some rules in DB6.

dearly hoping it puts some aelven units in COS too!!!

Wish I got these. I tried to subscribe to the Stormcast/ Skaven newsletters but just get "Oops something went wrong"

i got a confirmation that my Stormcast sign up worked, but i've received zero Warhammer emails today... not sure why this would only be skaven?

Maybe the Black Tower was just what we've called 'Monasteries'?

I doubt it, as there's already text that talks about the off-duty places Stormcast use for rest and relaxation?

I'm thinking tall and ominous Black Tower, probably with that obsidian-sheen to it, that just releases a swarm of lightning gheists out of all sides when needed.

This looks like cash grab mobile game art. I know it's not but geez is that a step-down in art quality.

in a way i guess? but i like how vibrant the art is MUCH MORE than the dreary, muted colors Warhammer insists on giving everything. definitely unfair to say this is a step down in quality when we can actually see all of the details the artist(s) painstakingly put in...

the Skaven still look just as creepy as they're supposed to be, animalistic and frenetic. and the Stormcast have this cool juxtaposition between being colored like determined heroes while their armor gives them a more inhuman look.

like look at this spittle?? the subtle bloodied jawline?? these would be impossible to see with the "moody Warhammer filter"

Im kind off miff the Ruination chamber is basically of now this meme

Of course they only shown off just 4 models (and 2 leaked) so maybe there still something  in the work

everyone needs to chill out about the trailer IMHO.

we've seen the most stable veterans of the Ruination Chamber, coming out of retirement from monasteries. We have not seen the Stormcast being kept inside those Black Towers that Ionus is helping with.

the properly F'd up Ruination Chamber may only come after the launch box, which I'm fine with waiting for.

We don't really need Judicators since their bow build was soft replaced by Vigilors and their crossbow version is kinda represented by Vanguard Raptors. The only point against them going away I can see is that we have a Knight-Judicator (Which already surprised me back when he was revealed)

Judicators definitely still have a place as full ranged support. Vigilors are melee-ranged hybrid skirmishers, and they buff other ranged units. i'm thinking like this:

    Knight-Judicator

    1x judis

    1x vigilors

Sounds like the perfect ranged detachment/regiment to me! Judicators are more like siegebows than regular longbows. Vigilor arrows aren't nearly as large as Judis'.

the three Paladin flavors which could be getting replaced by the Ruinators and the Prosecutors which are getting replaced.
The Dracothian Guard and Stardrakes are the only ones without a replacement. Stormdrake Guard are kinda the spiritual successor to the Dracothian Guard,

these I agree are absolutely more up in the air than the battleline units. out of all the paladins, I can see Protectors staying since they have giant glaives and are specifically anti-monster.

The overall consensus in the Spanish wiki is that it would be a new non-named city created purely for the plot, like Forjaglymm or Amberstone.

i could also see that, since hopefully GW doesn't want to destroy TOO much. the area i circled touches Hammerhal, Embergard, Anvilgard, and Hallowheart--so it gives GW the room to include enough Cities to feel like a major threat, instead of an impossible tidal wave against 1-2 cities.

Without knowing the actual lore, I like the idea of Ruination members being brought out of retirement because of the extraordinarily desperate situation, rather than them being used as Death Company-style go-out-with-a-bang warriors as the default. It feels like a subtle difference between traditional grimdark ("Stormcast are reforged so many times, eventually they go mad") and a more humane, but equally tragic setup ("Stormcast are eventually retired under mostly dignified circumstances, but war demands that they go back to fighting.")

i do hope your idea of them retiring to become administrators and warrior-poets has some merit!!! that would be such a great thing to do with old stormcast
