  1. As a counterpoint: this does allow us as players to fill in those gaps with our own armies/characters, with less toe-stepping. And it also sets GW up to write BL stuff that doesn't need a Fixed Timeline; i.e. we could get two new novels, one is in some corner of some realm in Soul Wars and the other is actually pushing the Era of Beasts story forward. However I do think this will be close to the end result of redesigning Cities/bringing Dawnbringers to life. Both ways of handling the timeline are valid. However, from precedent, we know GW is more likely to stick the landing of a scaled down timeline. Another reason why the Cities redesign should include non-Sigmarite/Azyrite iconography...
  2. He also HITS people with an OAR which is splendidly silly.
  3. Rules wise you mean? I wonder if it's more because they wanted to make completely distinct Cities in the first book, where the old kits have synergy within a city but not between other cities.
  4. Thought so still doesn't make sense to me, why not at least the Hero phase if they're pseudo-casting it? Ugh...
  5. I do not know of any actual link between Seraphon/Slann and Necrons, but Lizardmen are (were?) like the Necrons of Fantasy: existing before mortal history and favored by Old Ones. It makes sense that Seraphon magitek designs would look similar to Necrons. Now THIS is how you make lore that is ridiculous without overtaking how awesome it is...
  6. If sequitors were only 5 or 10 points above Vindictors, do you think they'd see more play?
  7. Yeah I do think the most likely outcome is core troops that have little throwbacks to the Empire, but are better looking for a high fantasy world, supported by Realm- and role-specific units. More armored mortal humans would be great to reflect the danger of Chaos and the Realms. And if the leak that Chaos Legionnaires are going to be an armored marauder redesign, Order humans should get the same treatment.
  8. @RyantheFett Give em a week or two; I'm expecting another article within that time. Plus a few extra days for edits, if the community upset took them by surprise.
  9. Interesting... I also noticed this spear might be a lance? the tip looks like it could easily break away, like how historical lances did. Except this one you could still use to stab afterwards >:) I'd love a range refresh on Seraphon to lean them more towards the star-lizard/Order "daemon" idea. I'm definitely hoping a Warcry warband is first so I can prepare my wallet and storage!!
  10. In your defense, the modified pic you saw does feel more like an actual leak. It occludes the discrepancies we could see when the original image was posted here.
  11. Extremely funny someone used a different screen to take a picture of their screen, to make this look more 'legit'
  12. Which honestly at this point I think might be my preferred choice? I'd love to be able to just buy ONE box and have a fully playable Seraphon set. Gives us time to get used to painting and building the new designs too
  13. I got the feeling Horns of Hashut were one half of 2e's starter, and from the narrative my first guess is Sylvaneth for the second. With this Rumour Engine, Seraphon might be a likely third kit / first wave.
  14. I'd recognize that spearhead anywhere... my babies are finally getting the AOS treatment
  15. Really really strange... so the new book doesn't come with Water temple units? That means Lumineth will be getting another TWO books minimum? One for Water Temple and a "final" one for Tyrion/Zenith? Because they probably wouldn't do one super huge release for both Temples
  16. These are the first images we ever got of the redesign we had no idea was happening. It is extremely easy to think the redesign would be too much of an Empire 2.0 when every single bit they teased could fit into WHFB without changing. None of these yell "quite unlike anything you’ve seen before" like WarCom called it. @Sarouan I would LOVE to see the denizens of Ghyran and Aqshy. These bitz they've showed us do not bring confidence that that's what we'll get.
  17. If the lore changes in a way that feels like a retcon to how a faction was specifically introduced, people are allowed to be upset about it. If it's bad enough, yea people will just leave. And making that decision to leave the largest, penultimate wargaming system in the world still hurts even if you're finally, legitimately done with GW's decisions/models/lore etc. There are really no true alternatives to Warhammer that are not a literal gamble with your money; non-GW scenes that do exist have died very quickly when unwanted or poorly received updates happened.
  18. Boy I sure hope they don't shoehorn in a "Dwarf"-Elf grudge into 40k... it's been done enough. The Squats and the Kin both look amazing in their own right, I had the same thought... really hoping for some actual Seraphon sculpts and them being introduced with a Warcry warband is a perfect step.
  19. Sure it is, however, when your own army's lore clashes enough with the company's evolving canon it can really deflate motivation to participate in the universe as a whole. Again, the worry is that established GW lore for COS will be changed--the didacticism that GW itself has canonized.
  20. I am sure you have things you can't share with us, so I appreciate the replies. If you think it'll be a Lumineth-type redesign, then I'll be excited to follow the development process for these new mortals, as I also think AOS provides an almost limitless opportunity for unique redesigns of old fantasy factions. I thought they would do this until the teaser reveal tbh; they were pretty explicit about this redesign being rooted in The Mortal Realms and not in the Old World. It's more likely TOW specialist game would use the old Empire moulds (so old armies don't look out of place) and simply provide upgrade kits for the 'new' TOW lore/setting.
  21. Slightly disappointed Warcry was only one warband! However, overall a good showing for their specialist game systems. Now I am just hoping all of the tokens and cards from those new Warcry boxes they pushed will remain legal when the new book hits... otherwise why the hell did GW print all that cardboard and laminated paper?
  22. But then the question becomes why tell us this is supposed to be designs we've never seen before, if it's just going to be a WFB Empire throwback? The Empire is light years better than the Imperium, but it is still quite far from how COS has been established in terms of inter-species cooperation too.
  23. 3 at minimum: spiked tail, scarred hoof leg, weighted net
