  1. Thanks for your replies. OK, seems like 500 points might not give us the best experience so I'll recommend to my friend that we play 1000 points for a little while. At least that allows us both to use some larger, more exciting units!
  2. Would anyone have an idea for a good points amount for an introductory game (facing Ossiarch Bonereapers)? Would 500 points be too small? Also, would you still require 2 battleline for such a low point game? With that in mind I came up with this: Dreadwood Glade Branchwraith (Gen) - Jewel, Throne of Vines (80 points) 10 Dryads (100 points) 2x5 Spite Revenants (120 points) 3 Kurnoth Hunters (Swords) (200 points) 500/500 points Or do you think it would be better to perhaps not bother with summoning or magic and try something like this: Winterleaf Glade Arch-Revenant - Frozen Kernel (100 points) 10x Dryads (100 points) 10x Dryads (100 points) 3x Kurnoth Hunters (Swords) (200 points) 500/500 points Thanks.
  3. Mini Wargaming If you can get onto YouTube then check out these channels for some good battle reports; Guerrilla Miniature Games, Mini Wargaming and ReRolling Ones.
  4. Welcome to the faction! Yes, the Treelord in the SC box can be built as either Treelord Ancient, Treelord or Spirit of Durthu. It's fairly easy to magnetise the different heads and weapon arms too to give you some flexibility.
  5. You would place your faction terrain after players have chosen sides (If you can. There may not be room for your Wyldwood due to how the terrain is laid out). Once the battle has started you would use the rules for "Verdant Blessing" when attempting to place a Wyldwood which states; "... If successfully cast, place 1 Awakened Wyldwood wholly within 24" of the caster and more than 1" from any other model, terrain feature or objective." Not sure where you get 6" from objectives from?
  6. Pre-battle Wyldwood uses the rules in the General's Handbook errata (first page) - https://www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/age_of_sigmar_generals_handbook_errata_en.pdf. Wyldwoods placed during battle then use the warscroll in the battletome.
  7. Spite-Revs are much more killy in the new Battletome and make pretty good battleline. They get up in your enemies face, hit hard but don't last too long. Tree-Revs are a little more nuanced in that they generally don't get used in a straight up fight. Due to their teleport ability they are great for capturing unguarded objectives and because they are cheap they are great for screening enemy charges to protect your more valuble models. Having 2x5 units of Tree-Revs in a 2000 point army wouldn't be a bad thing at all if they are used to good effect. 3 units may be too many though?
  8. @Trevelyan I'm afraid I don't know. I've not bought any yet but assumed they were accurate. I'm not planning on playing in any tournaments or anything though so they'll be fine for what I need but if you've had a different experience with their older bases then i'll update my post with a caution.
  9. If you are playing tournament games then you'll need the real deal. FLGS might be a little more relaxed about it but best to check beforehand. I can't really afford the new trees at the moment so I found somewhere that sells the bases cut in MDF for £3 per wood (1 wood = x3 tree bases). They don't look fantastic but you can do them up and I'm sure they'd be fine for friendly games. https://counterattackbases.co.uk/item/wild-wood-base-set Edit: I've not bought any of these yet, but it's possible they might only be an approximation in terms of the actual base size, so if you're going to buy from them just be aware of that.
  10. Seems like you have pretty much everything. Maybe 5 more spite-revs to give you the option of a full unit?
  11. I'm currently working on this as my solution: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1228712/ I have all the stuff. Just need to put my army together 😇
  12. @Emissary Thanks a lot for showing those. They look great and yeah the Dryad arms on the Branchwych body work nicely. Do they attach OK or did you have to use some greenstuff to fix it up a little?
  13. This is a great tip to make a Branchwraith, thanks. I have my Start Collecting box still to make up so I'll make sure to do something like this to have a Branchwraith available.
  14. This link has just about all the leaked info I think: https://imgur.com/a/6SgC7Ji Just had a quick re-read of the Awakened Wyldwoods warscroll. Interestingly, it specifically mentions creating a ring out of each of the citadel woods used to create the Wyldwood. I guess they mention "ring" over "circle" so as to allow someone using four or more trees to create a more oval shaped "ring" which is longer but with less width to allow Wyldwoods to fit into and around spaces that are less open to the standard, circular, 3-tree Wyldwood? Would be interesting to see the tactical uses for that.
  15. The leaked info isn't officially "official" yet so you probably won't find it on Battlescribe until the new tome is released. Just have to wait a bit longer 😭
  16. Anyone else notice the angry Dryad in the background? 😈
  17. If you want to play Dreadwood battalion then you'll need Spite-Revenants. Though with the potential for battalions to be shaken up in the new tome you may want to hang fire on building them until that gets released? Failing that, just build the ones you like I would also be interested to know if people are giving the Tree-Rev Scion an enchanted blade for 4 attacks or a Glaive for the damage 2? Though I suppose the answer may be that it doesn't matter seeing as the unit isn't really there for damage dealing duties?
  18. Thanks for the clarification on that @BetterOffGwen and @Aezeal.
  19. Yeah I was thinking perhaps something like the Godswood trees from Game of Thrones (pale white with reddish/pinkish leaves) or more frost themed with blue leaves? I live in York and am a member of the York Wargames Society here. The club recently started running an extra day specifically for GW games so it's nice to see lots of people getting 40k, AoS and Kill Team on the tables. Also means once my Sylvaneth are ready I have some people to play against!
  20. Hi @Lightbox and thanks for the welcome! Yeah it's always nice to find a port of calm in the storm that is the internet. I look forward to contributing in my small way. I've seen some really amazing paint schemes for Sylvaneth on Reddit. All the seasons get represented really nicely, though Winter not so much which is why perhaps I'm drawn to painting mine in a wintery theme. Or I saw Durthu painted in a really nice volcanic ash colour which also caught my eye. I really love the Sylvaneth models and can't wait to get started painting them. Bone armour for Khorne sounds great! I'll have to get some "Blood for the Blood God" for blood splatters as you say. My Kurnoth scythes/swords have some heads to take!
  21. I haven't played a game of AoS yet (still collecting, building etc..) so please correct me if I'm wrong as most of my knowledge has come from reading posts on here and reddit and watching battle reports on Youtube, but is a unit of 9 Kurnoth Hunters with scythes overkill? I realise that it would likely wreck pretty much anything but also seems like a very high priority target for enemies. Would you have more flexibility without sacrificing too much from the larger unit by taking 3 of the KH and making them a unit with Greatswords or Bows?
  22. Hi Galvainn, and thanks very much! I'm sure I will enjoy it once I get around to having a game of it. My copy of the Core Rule book arrived today and I've had confirmation of Looncurse being shipped to me today too so hopefully not too long to wait! Kill Team is really good fun. Fairly quick to play, easy to transport and a relatively small buy-in. GW did a great job with it which is why I'm also really looking forward to seeing what they do with WarCry.
  23. Ah righto. I haven't played 8th ed. 40k. I just never enjoyed 40k enough to want to play this edition, though I did have a Dark Angels army and an Eldar army back in the day (20+ years ago!). Kill Team is more than enough 40k for me. Played High Elves for a while in WFB, again a long time ago. Haven't even played a starter game of AoS yet. I should probs go to my local GW and have a game, though I've been reading the forums here, some stuff on Reddit and watching battle reports by "ReRolling Ones" on youtube so I think I have some of the rules down already.
  24. Thanks StormCastGinger! I see you are also a relative newbie to these forums. Have you recently become interested in Age of Sigmar as well?
  25. Hello all, Allow myself to introduce .... myself. (Yeah, yeah I borrowed that gag). I'm Jim from the UK. Got back into GW gaming in the last year or two when myself and a few friends began playing a Blood Bowl league and Kill Team. For Kill Team I bought AdMech, then decided on just one more team (Harlequins), then one final team (Tyranids). Then I bought Deathwatch. For Blood Bowl I used Skaven in our first league and came 3rd out of 4. In our 2nd league I used Chaos and came second by 1 point! Ugh. This has lead to myself and a friend getting interested in Age of Sigmar (we are both generally more interested in Fantasy settings anyway) and pre-ordering the Looncurse set together. He's gonna take the Grots and I'm taking the Sylvaneth. I really like how the Sylvaneth models look so that was my main draw to them. I was also considering Khorne and may still do in the future if the wife lets me 😇. Looking forward to getting building, painting, figuring out Sylvaneth storage problems and trying out the game! Cheers for reading and I look forward to chatting with some of you!
