  1. I dont get why you keep comparing Chosen to Gotrek? Sure they are both a combat unit, costs about 500 points and same speed but Chosen have a waaaay bigger foot print than Gotrek and hence a way bigger threat range. Im assuming we are talking 2.000 pts armies here, which means you have other units in the army - Maybe a unit or two of Varanguard to chase up a flank and threaten shooting armies. At the end of the day, the opponent has to get to the objectives, which is where your Chosen will be, and if he spends 3 turns "kiting" your Chosen then thats an easy win. There are maybe 2-3 battleplans in the current GHB where the objectives are so far apart the movement will be an issue, but again - You have other units in the army. I find its really not a big deal, especially if you run them as Slaanesh.
  2. Chosen are amazing. Im actually starting to lean away from Warriors and Knights. Warriors in 10s are a bit too squishy for me but 20 is way too durable. A unit of reinforced Chosen only costs slightly more than 20 Warriors but sit in that middle ground durability wise, however their damage is through the roof, even with Nurgle banner. The trade-off is a nobrainer for me. Knights are OK on the charge but beyond that they do absolutely pitiful damage and to me they are more like a mobile anvil in units of 10 with Nurgle mark. Chosen are slow, but so are many other units in the game. Slaanesh certainly helps when giving them run + charge and +2 charge. I will be toying around with Soulcream Bridge and Levitate. 7+ with a reroll is fairly reliable. On most battleplans you sit 22" apart. If you run them up turn 1 you are sitting in the middle of the board on the objective. You dont have to run all over the board and chase things, for that I would have a unit or two of Varanguard that can flank and do so extremely well. If you are worried about not choosing the engagement I would consider battle regiment and including a screen or two that runs up in front of them to take the impact and then trade.
  3. The Daemon Prince going to 10 wounds is a massive nerf in itself. It screws with batallions since its no longer a subcommander, cant benefit from cover or look-out sir either. It even lost the talon attacks. Im so glad the bloodslick ground ability is gone, but I was hoping for a significantly beefer statprofile after having played Total War, The Nurgle one is pretty strong though, although it depends on what points. Being able to remove ward saves on whatever your hammer is going into is pretty huge.
  4. Yeah thats the model 100% and sadly no chance of it being Morghur Would have been sick though.
  5. It would be awesome but that model obviously got wings. That seems really weird considering how Morghur previously looked? The tongue is also not the same as the rumor engine. The rumor engine got way different horns.
  6. I thought about replacing the head with some Nurgle bits and then put Nurglings on him for a converted Skaven Plaguecrawler, but no clue what size I should order
  7. I dont think its so much that he synergies with Nurgle but more the fact he counters those big point units like 6 Longstrikes, Morathi etc. I have played him a fair bit in a Be'lakor + max Pusgoyle list and it worked flawlessly. One drop army that can double move and shut down a unit potentially for 2 turns is strong. Loads of easy battle tactics to achieve. I think I will be replacing him going forward for Bloab to free up ally points for the new Incarnate. It looks really strong.
  8. Previously you could ally in Plague Monks etc. and they would have the Nurgle keyword to benefit from buffs. Unfortunately GW decided to go a different route which means all Slaves to Darkness units and Skaven/Beasts of Chaos get the "Nurgle" keyword but all buffs and synergies are based on "Maggotkin of Nurgle". I.e if you take Plague Monks or whatever they dont benefit from any of the Nurgle alliegiance abilities. You can still field the models but they are certainly worse than our own units due to lack of buffs or synergies. I dont think is much else than Be'lakor or Untamed Beasts that I would seriously consider in my Nurgle army, but thats coming from a competitive point of view.
  9. Hey! We are a group of players trying to attract new members to our AoS community and thought about doing some regular events to lure people in. We wanted to start off by making an escalation league since that should be more managable for newer players. Now the question is, how do we start and how do we progress the league? We thought about going 400/800/1200/1600/2000 pts., so 5 games total. But what about board size? Objectives? What Im essentially looking for is an already premade "playerpack" where the league progress is mapped out. I.e as an example: First game is no objectives and on half a table, second game is objectives introduced, third game is full table etc. etc.
  10. Before it is decided who takes the turn. Its even more iffy because it happens at the same time as when you take control of objectives prior to turn 1 starting. LVO has decided you get to pregame move and then claim control of objectives, AoS Worlds has decided you get to claim control of objectives, and then do the pregame move.
  11. Not sure what you mean by "Auto BT", do you mean Inspiring Presence to prevent models from running to battleshock? Roar only works in the combat phase, so all you lose out on is +1 hit (All-out Attack) or +1 save (All-out Defense). Thats it. +1 hit on a unit you generally dont rely on doing damage is whatever. +1 save on a unit that starts on a 6+ is whatever really. In previous editions realms mattered, either for empowering endless spells or granting you different command abilities/spells etc. In AoS 3.0 with the current Generals Handbook, ALL battles are taking place in Ghur so it doesnt matter. Its just fluff if your army is from X realm now.
  12. Keep in mind the unit of Nurglings just have to be WITHIN 3" of a terrain piece. So a single base can kiss the terrain and then you can string out the other models. Not all the models have to be within 3", just a single base. It shouldnt be difficult to deploy them at all, even on battleplans where half the board is your territory. Im not the player obviously but guessing - 1. It doesnt really matter if a monster roars or stomps your PBs. The MWs is whatever and if you have a 5+ or 6+ save vs a monster is probably insignificant considering the rend the majority of monsters have. 2. Realm doesnt matter anymore 3. With a Glottkin list the re-roll charge triumph is really strong since it isnt limited to your charge phase unlike the reroll command ability. So when attempting to charge your opponent at the end of the opponent's movement phase with the Glottkin ability, being able to reroll a cruicial charge is strong.
  13. People looked at the 700 pts investment and then checked his warscroll thought he was ******, didnt see the value in the CA. The CA messes with your opponent so much and gives a huge space denial. Can easily deny battletactics if your opponent isnt very aware. Its really difficult to play perfectly against the Glottkin through 5 rounds.
  14. I liked Orghotts a lot upon release and exclusively played him, but Im starting to replace him with Bloab in almost all my lists. The thing to note for the Maggoth Lords is that the bulk of the damage comes from their mount which is literally all the same. The only thing you are getting with Orghotts is a better save and 2 extra CPs per turn - Which is obviously good. The extra damage is pretty insignificant and Bloab offers a lot of utility from being a caster, his warscroll spell especially and the -1 hit in combat/shooting on a 4+ within 7".
  15. If we are talking new players then I dont think the goal should be a 2.000 pts army right away. Sure thats ultimately what they should strive for if they get addicted, but buying a simple Start Collecting box and having fun with it should be the first goalpost for new players.
  16. But people absolutely can afford it, they just choose not to or those introducing them are straight up unrealistic how to get started with the hobby. IMO even Warhammer is actually pretty "cheap" if you consider how much time you get out of every dollar you spent. This is assuming you actually sit down, assemble, paint and play with those minis. Its an incredible value and gives you much joy for MANY hours considering what other hobbies cost or what a quick trip to the movies etc. Dollar : Hour of enjoyment ratio is rather good. For people entering the hobby the goal shouldnt be to straight up buy 3+ full 2.000 pts. armies. Buying into Warcry or 500 pts. games is where the entry level is. Vince V. on Warhammer Weekly has talked about this topic and made a youtube vid about it but new people shouldnt buy into GWs products like at all, theres a significant saving from buying other hobby items - All the tools/paints/brushes are way overpriced but thats a different topic really.
  17. I dont think you should expect any new unit for any updated faction this year. 1 hero and updated 3rd edition tome is likely how 2022 is gonna look.
  18. Keep in mind you can use Monster Actions in your turn and the opponent's turn, so you can use Primal Roar twice a battle round. Summoning for days!
  19. Just keep in mind its only melee attacks that gain the rend, so you wont drown the opponent in rend 2 arrows.
  20. I guess you could put the Herdstone in a far corner of your deployment zone. You wont benefit from the 4+ rally or halving models that flee on your army, but considering how fragile BoC units generally are, its probably questionable if you will really benefit from either ability. The 4+ rally could be used on the Ungor unit being sacrificed so summoning pts are spent on reinforcements for the army.
  21. Maybe you should look into some 3D printing then. Alot of Warhammer gaming communities embrace it and dont mind alternative models at all. At least around here WYSISWG is long gone and was a flawed concept anyways considering what our hobby is based on. I find it so weird that being understanding on things going on in the real world reflecting GWs prices is met by "lol GW simp/shill". You are probably buying 90% or more of your plastic crack from a FLGS where you very likely get 10-20% off the price anyways. I mean how much are you spending on this hobby if a couple of dollars per box is breaking your bank? It feels like its just yet another oppurtunity for some inviduals here to take a swing at GW and the game as a whole. Its almost as if some people were looking for an excuse to go play some other game. Its just.. Weird.
  22. As an accountant I have multiple clients that are seriously considering closing down their businesses because of the increased costs of shipping and are worried about further increasing costs, namely on electricity etc., due to the tensions with Russia. The increasing cost has a cascading effect onto other all expenses as mentioned before. I cant really comment on small scale shipping but the prices on entire containers etc. have literally increased by 400% in some cases. GW isnt just moving a parcel or two at a time. I could imagine the reason your prices arent increasing that much is because a large company typically purchase the shipment and then try to fill it with whatever to reduce the net cost? You could argue that GW is making "enough money" and could easily eat this expense - Yes absolutely they will still be going strong without increasing prices, but why should they? At the end of the day they are a business, which entire purpose is to make money. The shareholders obviously demand this. I dont think its unreasonable to expect that GW want a smaller price hike to cover the increasing costs they undeniably have already had.
  23. Theres just a lot more to it than this. People often look at what item X is selling for and what the cost of the ingredients are and then assume the guy is making Y profit per item. This is not how things work. The sale of item X has to cover alot more than simply the materials used. Theres advertisement/sculpting/customer service salaries, transportering costs, import fees, accounting etc. All of these expenses are increasing atm. You can google shipping prices on containers and see many articles describing a boom in prices upwards of 400% (has been increasing for almost half a year by now) and other articles suggest that this will cause a 10% price hike for consumers. People in some EU countries are experiencing electricity prices going up 50-100%. Almost all expenses are increasing because people are attempting to cover their own expenses by charging more for their products. This is really no different for GW. Prices in groceries are not the same as they were a year ago either, its just tiny increases that you dont notice. I wouldnt be surprised if we arent seeing any endless spells or faction terrain coming to any new armies for a good while because all of those things are made in China and the expenses for having it moved to EU/US is absurd now compared to pre Covid-19. I dont see it as them begging in any way. I feel like we are entering a new era where GW are actively communicating with their consumers ALOT more than just a couple of years ago. If we had no info but a sudden spike you would have complained too.
  24. I mean you could make an arguement that the majority of armies are rather one dimensional. You can technically make Nurgle a casting army - Theres Epidemius giving you reroll casts and otherwise Master of Magic generic command trait. Rot Coven gives you a way of getting up to +3 casting. You can go Pusgoyles moving 16" turn 1 if you enjoy an alpha playstyle. You can go hordes of Plaguebearers if you fancy a lot of bodies on the table. We have some units like the Glottkin, combat GUO (flail + bilesword + flaming weapon) and Maggoth Lords that do pack a bit of a punch. Pusgoyles and Blightkings arent too bad either with their quantity of attacks. Pusgoyles/Blightkings gives you a somewhat elite army if you dont want to move 200 models. As with everything theres obviously some routes that are more "competitive" than others but I honestly feel like Im constantly writing new lists for this army and they have worked rather well, where as most other armies I quickly fall into a certain path.
