  1. Ushoran is glorious, and the new Flesh Eater units are a needed and welcome addition!

I am glad we didn't get new basic ghouls as i wouldn't be able to afford replacing my old ones, and knowing that a new updated kit was out would torment me 😅

I recall from the leaked new ghouls sprue, that they had almost twice as many heads as models in the box. It will probably be easy to use the extra heads from the new kit to modernize the old ghouls a bit, if one wants to.

I disagree. According to the lore (Ogors battletome v2, Soulbound, brokenrealms Morathi…) it's the Hedonites of Slaanesh who should have corrupt Ogors.

    from Soulbound Champion of Destruction:

The method by which they acquire food rarely matters, and many Ogors have no compunctions about accepting work from Sigmar, only to serve in Archaon's armies immediately after. That being said, there are some lines that most Ogors won't cross. Their obsession with eating means Ogors are particularly vulnerable to corruption by Slaanesh, but these fallen hedonists are looked upon with scorn and suspicion by the rest. Mercenary work is one thing, but giving up the Mawpath forever and shackling oneself to a weak god is quite another.

Chaos ogres have been established as part of the undivided chaos hordes in Warhammer fantasy for decades.

That said i would welcome them in the ranks of Slaanesh.

My favorite chaos ogors were the ones being corrupted by Nurgle, in the army of Tamurkhan. What a beautiful monstrous army, filled with nurgle trolls, ogors and giant putrid toads 🥰

Pity it suffered the fate of Forgeworld AOS armies.

The theridons I can understand as Chaos Ogres have been a thing for a long while, but they definitely could've been ported to Beasts as a less killy, but better armoured, minotaur.

Slaves to Darkness definitely deserved to get chaos ogres back. I would have preferred if their ogres were more humanoid like the one from the Iron Golems unit. The Theridons look great but there is a big design overlap with the beastmen esthetic. I held one of the theridon heads in my hand before assembling it and the head looked like an enlarged Ungor face without the big horns.

I might get some hate for this but to me Kragnos was a horrible concept right from the start anyways, one of the worst things GW put out in years. The mini doesn‘t look the part and it doesn‘t even look good, the sudden introduction wasn‘t good (would‘ve been better to tease him longer) and destruction has a lot of cooler centrepiece models that actually fit into the respective styles and compete with him. I dunno what they thought. It‘s not like Order has one big bad (big good?) either, so it‘s not needed, despite Nagash and Archaon.

Kragnos was also one of the biggest kicks in the face of Beasts of Chaos, who have been begging for new miniatures for years. Him and the Ogroid Theridons of Slaves to Darkness 😅

Do you think they will Release a new scyla when there is the awesome bloodbowl model?

It is a nice model for bloodbowl, but too cartoony for Age of Sigmar, he even wears socks.

He kind of reminds me of the aliens from the Looney Toons 90s Space Jam movie.

Also the Bloodbowl model is resin too, and more expensive than the warhammer equivalent.

well where would you meet them? If they don't play the games they aren't as likely to be hanging out at stores or events. I'd say I fall mostly into this camp. I buy models I like but the only game I play these days is underworlds.

Same here. I haven't played AoS in 2 years, and even back then i would play a few games spread out yearly. That didn't work out well as GW keeps adding new rules and changing the game constantly so it is impossible to catch up if someone doesn't play often enough.

I like to keep up with the news of the game's state and its miniature releases, but currently i buy only the minis that i like and occasionally use them in games of One Page Rules with a couple of friends at home.

AoS characters just need some time to be properly developed. Tahlia and Zenestra, for example, has plenty of potential to become quite charismatic characters.

Neave is another example. And the warhammer plus serie helped a lot. That's the kind of stuff we need.

About the models itself, imo they need to be replaced because the aesthetic has changed since whf, but I agree Archaon and Nagash were designed with AoS in mind or at least looks like.

Nagash was released during the Endtimes of Warhammer Fantasy indeed. I am pretty sure that Archaon was released at the beginning of Age of Sigmar, together with the Varanguard, making him a miniature designed exclusively for AoS.

If the other spur is ghouls, they are very different from the old Vampire Courts era ghouls. I see halberds, nice looking swords and a standard. Could be an elite unit rather than battle line ghoul replacement. Guess we will find out in 6 months or so. Or sooner if stuff keeps falling off the back of a truck.

It seems to be ghouls with an option for two-handed weapons or single handed swords. Not sure if they will replace the current kit and warscroll or if they will be a new, different unit.

Realms of Ruin, judging from all the screenshots and other information seen so far, looks like it's pretty much an unabashed Dow2 clone. Which isn't a bad thing, DoW2 was a good game and one that still doesn't have a lot of imitators to this day. I worry a little about the single-player side of things, though. It'll probably have a good campaign, but feel very different in skirmish mode, we'll have to see.

I hope there is a skirmish mode at all. They mentioned the campaign and 1vs1 or 2vs2 player versus player, but a skirmish mode which is the thing i look most forward too in RTS games wasn't mentioned. It might just have been that there was a short time in the video to give a brief introduction to the game and we will hear more about it in the future, but if pvp is the focus of the game and there is no single player skirmish then it is not for me.

I also miss base-building fantasy games. Sadly since Warcraft 3 we haven't really had any big names take up the mantel and RTS needs a fairly big company to work because its quite complex. A lot of smaller firms that try often just burn out or produce something that's "ok" but really has issues.

That said we do have Total War Warhammer and whilst you don't have the base building (although Warhammer 3 has some of that in a limited form in sieges now); you do have a huge number of super unique looking races and it looks utterly fantastic and you can face off huge armies against each other in epic battles!

I gave the first 2 Total War Warhammer games a try, around a dozen hours each, but couldn't stay invested in the gameplay. The turn-based "Risk" style which is the main focus of the games is not my cup of tea. I prefer the RTS games that feature a Skirmish game option, where you can load up a map and explore it and fight on it in real time for the whole duration of the session.

At the time i get my RTS fix by playing the "Battle for Middle Earth 2" with community mods installed that add new factions and features to keep it fresh, but would love it if a Warhammer AOS RTS game was made in that style.

  11. The idea of the Incarnate Elemental being usable in all armies is great, but i am not very keen on the model, the old Forgeworld one did look much more impressive. The new Incarnate would 100% look like a Death unit if the swirling energy on it was painted in Nighthaunt colors.

If the scale is close, i am going to paint and use Forgeworld's out of production Giant Spined Chaos Beast as the incarnate for my chaos armies, since i own the miniature and it never received a proper warscroll for AoS so it lingered in limbo in the great gray pile of shame for years.

How are people feeling about the Exalted Greater Daemon of Nurgle? 50 less points than a regular GUO, kept the additional d3 heal, and kept the old plague wind. I still don't think its super amazing as maggoth lords are better (and the regular GUO has a bunch more damage), but I think its worth looking at since it is less points than a regular GUO.

I would personally use it as a regular Great Unclean One. I always take lore into consideration when making an army and it would constantly bother me that an "Exalted" Great Unclean One would cost less points and would be weaker than a regular Unclean One (who naturally would strive to become "Exalted" himself) 😅

The Games Workshop team in charge of updating the Forgeworld AoS warscrolls has really missed the ball.

If we had the option to build a Keeper of Secrets like this one, i would have started a Slaanesh army. While the new GW Keeper is a great miniature full of detail, i always preferred the malicious demonic look instead of the bovine looking head with hair/ponytail that they went with.

Don't understand why people are unhappy we're not getting loads of new models. The current nurgle range for AoS has literally everything you'd want. Why do we need a new wave of models? The current selection does a fantastic job of covering both the mortal and daemon side with a gorgeous model range.

I think Nurgle is currently the faction with the smaller number of troop units in Chaos and it doesn't help that they are just the same type of units just mounted and on foot.

I will surely be content if i can just play the army with my units of Blightkings instead of having to buy a new powerful infantry unit of 30-40 "Nurgle Marauders" and build them and paint them from scratch, but more diversity and choices in the army roster usually keep things fresh and interesting.

Very little of Isle of Blood remains, and it was sold AoS branded. Much of Silver Tower is gone or partitioned so it only works in Grand Alliance.

The factions that now form Cities have lost 29 warscrolls.

Chaos dwarves and almost everything else from Forge world are gone.

Then we have about 20 or so warscrolls between chaos, destruction and death that have been removed bit by bit.

Let's not forget the original Grots and the classic Greenskins Orruks that had an AoS start collecting box for years and were suddenly gone without warning. Got a full Greenskin army as a christmas present for my brother and GW killed them off the following year. 😤

  17. I guess they figured out that a number of people who buy their miniatures care for the rules and playability of them before they purchase them, so now you have to buy in blind and hope for a playable unit.

I am a casual player and don't go to tournaments, but i still want my minis to give me a chance at the tabletop, so if i don't know the rules for them i am not buying them.

The selling point of Age of Sigmar (other than the beautiful miniatures) since the beginning was the ease of access for everyone. I will refrain from preordering anything new and might order new miniatures in the future if i come into their full warscrolls first, without purchasing a physical battletome that will be outdated by the time i manage to paint the army.

  18. Tamurkhan's Horde got updated as well. It now mentions you need your opponent's approval to play them but they still have the correct Keywords to be played as Maggotkin. Everything got some small points increases and a few changes to warscrolls.

Toads and Ogres got Ward 5 in place of their old abilities. Bile Troggoths got even worse with the points increase compared to Fellwater Troggoths.
