  1. The bears look great, a two player set of Kislev vs Norsca would be fantastic, especially if the miniatures are the same scale, to be used in AoS too.
  2. Now compare the Light of Eltharion with any "Slaves to Darkness", "Blades of Khorne" or "Maggotkin of Nurgle" hero near or above his points that will also need several buffs to faction in combat. (I am sure this goes for other Chaos, Order and Destruction heroes as well, just picked those three armies from my own personal experience. I don't think the set of rules previewed for Eltharion is healthy for the game overall. Sure, tournament players will be able to crack him up and deal with him easily but in the bigger picture, people who meet up for a casual game with their favorite armies are likely going to have a one-sided game with less fun for both of the participants. For example a Khorne player with not that much experience having a meet up game with a Lumineth player with similar experience in the game, who just picked Eltharion because it is a cool miniature with cool rules. The khorne player (who likely picked khorne because they are barbarians and warriors who excel in melee combat, is likely to be massacred and feel uncomfortable facing Lumineth in the future. I have seen this happening in other instances as well, and there are many people with too little time for tournaments, who just want to have a chill game 1 or 2 times a month in their limited free time. Such one sided games usually end up leading these players to abstain from their FLGS and create home clubs for their wargaming. Not a rant here, just a little bit of worrying for the game's direction. 😊
  3. If i were to face mega gargants on a regular basis, i think a pike and a shield in the shape of a lego brick would be the best equipment indeed.
  4. As cool as they usually look, i very much dislike miniatures with long spears/pikes, especially when they all hold them facing forward. It is a nightmare when playing with or against them, trying to rank them up without breaking bits off or damaging the paint.
  5. The Lord on Karkadrak is on a 90mm oval base so you might be able to squeeze Shar'tor on that one. Manticore with some added wings is a good idea as well!
  6. I have to agree on the Jabberslythe. I love the model, but the current warscroll keeps it completely unplayable. Makes me worry that they are going to ditch the model from the line in the future, since most people are not interested to buy it for their already underdog "Beasts of Chaos" armies, and it is an endangered species (Finecast) as well.
  7. The mounted chaos lord is at 4+ save with his shield providing a 5+ save for mortal wounds. Same for the Lord on manticore. Would love them to be at a 3+ save like the Khorne Lord on Juggernaught as that would make them more playable. Oddly enough the new Lord on Karkadrak enjoys a 3+ save without having a shield. (I guess they justify this with his heavy armored mount) The exalted Heroes of Chaos also have the shield bonus integrated by default with their "Dark Blessings" ability that gives the 5+ save on mortal wounds, which was the "Chaos Runeshield" bonus in their old warscroll.
  8. Would love a Kislev vs Norsca intro set, with new chaos marauders and champion, would be able to use them in my AoS chaos army as well and that would tempt me to delve into the Old World game too!
  9. That is some fine craftsmanship, i couldn't tell there were 40K parts in there. Nice!
  10. Love the mini diorama, and the lord standing triumphant on the plinth that the destroyed stormcast statue used to be on. You did a good job with the head, considering it might be the least aesthetic head from the marauders box. I would like to see the other entries for this contest, it would be interesting to see how people salvage this marauder head. I found that shaving off its big caveman brows can do a lot to make it look better and more modern, i cut the brows and earrings on one as a test, then added a beard and it makes a big difference. Did you kitbash the chaos lord on his entirety, or is his body an existing model? Keep up the good work!
  11. I respectfully disagree. I started collecting Warhammer in 2016, in the Age of Sigmar and have no past with Warhammer fantasy. However, i like most of the Fantasy Armies and since 2016 i have collected miniatures for Blades of Khorne, Maggotkin of Nurgle, Flesh Eater Courts, Greenskinz, Slaves to Darkness, Seraphon, Beasts of Chaos, Tzeentch , Legions of Nagash (Deathrattle, Soulblight and Deadwalkers). The only Age of Sigmar exclusive army i have collected so far is Stormcasts, and that is mainly because they were in the first starter set that i bought. I dislike most of the AoS brand new armies like Kharadron Overlords, Idoneth Deepkin and Ossiarch Bonerippers as the models don't appeal to me and feel weird even for the ultra high fantasy setting of AoS. That said, i am happy for people that like them, and the diversity this brings to the hobby, but i am certain most of my friends (including myself) would not bother with Age of Sigmar, if the available armies to play where all in the theme of the AoS exclusive ones, and the old armies were phased out.
  12. Archaon on foot would be my favorite AoS hero release in years. I have the current model for around two years in my closet along with the rest of my backlog of Tzeentch, Nurgle, Khorne, Legions of Nagash, Flesh Eater Courts, Slaves to Darkness, Seraphon and Middle Earth. I dread assembling it, finding room to safely store it after assembly, and painting it. An Archaon on foot would be exactly what my hobby needs, easier to paint, store and transport, with the added bonus of having a proper Dark Lord Sauron version in Age of Sigmar, marching with the hordes of chaos to battle. (Not to mention he would cost less in points and be able to use him in smaller scale games, as we have no time for 2000 point games with the people i usually play.
  13. Its bogus that they remove Tamurkhan's horde when they gave them and Chaos Dwarves allegiance abilities and "dedicated" pdfs a year ago. Then again the warscrolls were subpar compared to the rest of Games Workshop Nurgle so none used them. Agreed with everyone else that they just let their AoS models die when they could support them by incorporating them into current factions, as mentioned about the Merwurm, Magma Dragon etc.
  14. Slaanesh does need more than that, as it is the most unfun army to play against, but it is a start. Love the update to Blightkings' unmodified 6s, but still sad that the 3 Maggoth Lords haven't received any love since before the beginning of AoS to make them enticing to use.
  15. Agreed, i love the big monsters, but as mentioned it would be fantastic if we could have 2 versions of some heroes, one with mount and one on foot, like in the "Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game". Also agree that heroes die too quickly in Age of Sigmar games and it feels rather anticlimactic.
  16. So Spire Tyrants are basically close to what the old marauder warscroll was, but unmarkable out of Slaves to Darkness and in minimum units sizes of 9. From the GMG review if i read the blurry text of the warscroll correctly: Spire Tyrants - 9 models for 70 points 1 Wound / 6" Move/ 5+ Save / 5 Bravery Weapons: 1" Range / 1 Attack/ 4+ to Hit / 4+ to Wound / No Rend / 1 Damage Pit Champion is one in 9 models and gets +2 attacks Headclaimer is 1 in 9 models and gets +1 Damage Bestigor Desroyer is 1 in 9 models and gets +2 Attacks Abilities: You can add 1 to hit rolls for attacks if the unit charged in the same turn. No reason to take these over Marauders i think, and i loved the sculpts
  17. I was suspecting they might upgrade the Exalted Charioteer from the chariot to a Chaos Lord on chariot, and have the foot version of him be able to be used as a single chaos lord with War Flail.
  18. While it could be a battering ram, i don't think that it could be one incorporating the skull of a godbeast. It looks too small for that, based on the human skull on the picture for scale, so if a godbeast skull was at the other end of the pictured item, it wouldn't be bigger than the skull of a Stonehorn. The ram with the godbeast skull will likely remain only in the lore, as i imagine it to be as big as "Grond" from "Lord of the Rings", if not bigger.
  19. What are these beastmen? I have a few of them and don't know if they are gors/ungors and what year they came out
  20. It has definitely affected my purchasing habits. I used to buy any Start Collecting or Dual Army box that i thought was cool, even if i didn't have an army(or planned to start a full one) for one of the factions. For instance, i have a small Legions of Nagash army for friendly games and was planning to get the Feast of Bones dual box to add the extra two Morghasts and the new Necropolis Stalkers to it, because i like the models. I would do head swaps to the Ogors with Ork heads and gift them to my brother as a themed mini force alternative to his greenskinz. That was the plan if the Feast of Bones set kept the price of previous sets like Carrion Empire, Looncurse etc. I opted out of getting it for that reason, and didn't buy additional Great Unclean Ones or Bloodthirsters either, as the total increase in my hobby spendings becomes more prevalent, the more products you buy. Same thing with beastgrave as well, like you pointed out in your post. I hadn't ventured into the precious Underworlds sets, but was planning to do so with beastgrave, as the warscrolls for AoS seem to be better this season and would be able to use the Warbands in both games. Then i noticed everything was more expensive that the year prior and decided to skip that too. It is mostly second hand models for me at the moment. My direct sealed product purchases are now more thought out, and usually only if i really really like the new product.
  21. I am half-pleased and half-disappointed with the Spire Tyrants. From the previewed miniature i imagined they would all fashion helmets with nods to the classic chaos look, but only two humans out of six wear helmets. The first miniature with the raised sword that i suspect is the leader, looks like a bloodreaver who salvaged parts from a blood warriors armor. If i buy the warband he will get a head swap with a helmeted head from the bits box. The beastlord looks great, though his helmet looks a bit oversized compared to his lower half body. Might just be the angle of the photo, of course. It looks like they are all on 32 mm bases though, which will be a very welcomed change if so. I am not keen on the variety of different base sizes within each warband, when it comes to using them in Age of Sigmar. I do like the theme of this warband a lot more than the look of the Darkoath from Underworlds, if they were to reimagine the classic Chaos Marauders with new sculpts, for me , this would be the way.
  22. Definitely an AoS game in the style of Dawn of War 1 and 2. I prefer this kind of strategy games over Total War, as you can have skirmishes/ambushes etc and explore the various maps in real time. Battle for Middle Earth 2 is still my favorite strategy game for pc.
  23. I have thought of that, but that would make only his standard Orruks and boarboys usable and then he would need to spend money for the other models on the Ironjaws/Bonesplitterz range as these two units alone would not be enough for an army. His "Orruk Warboss on War Boar" and "Orruk Warboss on Wyvern” and Orruk chariots would be unusable as they have no counterparts with similar roles or size/base size in the Ironjaw/Bonesplitterz range either. He doesn't play at tournaments or FLGs anyway so noone will be affected by the houserule involuntarily
