  1. So I have to ask. With this new book we get new "Phoenicium" battle traits, artefacts, spells etc. Along with a new Battalion (Phoenix Flight). Can you still take the Spyreheart Warhost Battalion from Generals Handbook/GA: Order?
  2. Huuuuuuuuuuuge respect to him making such a sexy looking Army list and providing lore/backstory, oozing with Royalty!
  3. Are the Regen heroes required now in the new army book? I mean, I guess I could build 1 or 2 get an extra box but dunno! ¯\(º_O)/¯ I started collecting FEC back when I saw the Monster Mash list that Ben Souza and Alan won large GTs with (sadly seems every list has been taken down now, but was 3 GKoT, Arkhan the Black, and 30 Ghouls (to sit on objectives), would fly in, summon 4 units of Horrors into the enemies deployment, buff GKoT's up with your magic spells then have everything charge in, into a big Monster Mash! haha). But due to the change to Magestic Horror it doesn't quite work now... I did post an attempt to recreate that list on page 1 (basically replacing Arkhan with an Archregent and using MH/Charnel Throne to get some free Summons, letting us get the 4 units of Horrors turn1 still), but no idea if it'd be viable at all. So I don't know if I should stick with Summoning Horrors still or just go with something like you suggested... I just look at basic Terrorgheists and I'm like... hmmm, Yeah but for an extra 100pts I can Summon 160pts worth of stuff! 😂 haha
  4. So I thought I'd take this thread in a slightly different direction and ask for some (much needed) advice... Models I OWN are.... 3x GK on Terrorgheist (1 is unbuilt so could be a ZD I guess, they seem a nightmare to transport though haha!) 1x Abhorrant Archregent 2x Units of 3 Horrors (built) 2x Units of 3 Horrors/or Flayers (unbuilt) 50x Ghouls Charnel Throne Using just these models (that includes for summoning, don't have any extra). What kind of list would you build at 1k and 2k? I'm a huge fan of big monsters (If the 3 Terrorgheists didn't already make that obvious haha) and low model count armies (elites like horrors with just a few chaff Ghouls to hold objectives). But with this new army book I've no idea what direction to go in! Like... Summoning Horrors via heavy Summon Royal Guard abuse, or run Horrors as Battleline and back up with a few Ghouls/possibly summon more...? I dunno! BUT YEAH! These are all the models I own, you miiiiiiight be able to convince me to get another model/or box of something if the list seems really cool... otherwise just want to stick with what I own. I'm super new to AoS so no idea or experience to go off of! So if anyone could help that would be AMAZING 🤩 Thank you! ❤️
  5. Thanks for making this thread haha! I've just gotten started with AoS and was building my way towards "Monster Mash" build I'd been seeing since it absolutely seemed like my kind of playstyle. Giant Monsters? Aw heck yes! (Really not a fan of horde/swarm armies). https://thehonestwargamer.com/aos-list-rundowns/how-to-eat-flesh-have-your-cake-too-monster-mash-flesheaters/ Sadly the change to Magestic Horror has really crippled the list, so trying to band-aid that, but hoping I can replace Arkhan with the new Archregent (Since he can get a free Summon and can also cast/dispell 2). However with being a noob who hasn't actually played a full game yet, I'd love some feedback! I'd prefer to keep my 3 GK on Terrorgheists since... Woo! Giant Monsters! (Who also Summon in free elite units instead of messing around with that whole, giant horde army shtick). Three would defo look cooler on the board than 2!.... But it's been tough building with Grand Courts since they lock you in on Traits/Artefacts (booo). Currently 2 SC boxes in and just picked up Carrion Empires, so need to know what I need to polish things off! (Also need to figure out my 1k and 1.5k lists at some point 🤣 haha)

  7. Just for some theorycrafting fun/a starting point. If you were to build a Daemons of Tzeentch army using only the Start Collecting boxes; (So 2xBurning Chariot (Which we can stick a Herald or Flamer on), 2xHerald (on foot, on disc, or on the Chariot), 6xFlamers, 6xScreamers and 20xPink Horrors) What sort of list would you build? Obviously not going to be optimal, can also in theory convert some units, but for starting out at 1,000pts, what would you chose? (plus Artefacts, Spells, all that good stuff) (I'm guessing something like, Herald on Chariot, 20 Pink Horrors, 3 Screamers, 3 Screamers and Chariot for 960? Yeah I've no idea whats good haha!) Looking to help a friend get started and they want to buy 2 of the Start Collecting boxes before they go up in price (Since they love the Daemons way more than Tzaangors). So please help me pick the best of the "worst" haha, so can have some fun casual games at the very least!
  8. Considering this post is 2years old now (found it via the search bar), thought I'd just ask the question... Is it still viable/worth investing in? Seems quite cheap and incredibly fun! So thought I'd perform a quick bit of Necromancy and find out haha!
  9. I've become quite enamored by this faction, I absolutely adore the Phoenix's and would love an ice themed army. Plus all the 2k lists in here seem really fun! So I have a few questions; 1. Can 1k lists be built/viable? (Guessing 2 Anointed on Frosthearts and 30 Guard? Or 1 Frostheart, ally Mage and fill rest with 40~ Guard) 2. If I start at 1k and build up to 2k, is the faction worth the investment? Or monetarily is it overpriced/underpowered? 3. What is the definitive/"best" or atleast most popular 2k list composition? 4. How long (if ever) do you think it would be until they get a true tome, and when they do, do you think it would change a lot/make certain models unviable (like currently there's no pts cost to mounting an Anointed on a Phoenix, so no reason not to) (And since they don't have their own Discussion thread, are Order Draconis still an "undiscovered power list"? Haha ) Thanks!
  10. This is the exact kind of honesty I was searching for, you explain WHY they aren't that great in good detail which is what I was looking for, nice to hear a solid understanding over true love haha. As you say, it's much more sensible to give a new player an enjoyable experience, rather than "pick an army you like the look of (but will lose every game)". So thank you! Coming from Fantasy I was a big fan of Ogre Kingdoms (*Gutbusters? Feh! :P) so honestly, I can just wait on BCR to get good/Gutbusters to get a Battletome, so no real loss
  11. I've recently become really curious about BCR due to how good their Start Collecting! box value is, I already have some old Ogre Kingdom stuff I could ally in, so very curious if this faction is worth the investment for a new AoS, (old Fantasy) player? I did a little list theorizing and came up with; Allegiance: Beastclaw Raiders Mortal Realm: Ghur Frostlord on Stonehorn (420) - General - Trait: Massive Bulk - Artefact: Gryph-feather Charm Butcher (140) - Pair of Stump Blades and Great Cauldron - Allies Orruk Great Shaman (120) - Mount: War Boar - Allies 4 x Mournfang Pack (320) - Gargant Hackers 4 x Mournfang Pack (320) - Gargant Hackers Thundertusk Beastriders (340) Thundertusk Beastriders (340) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 260 / 400 Wounds: 97 For just an all-around list, tanky Frostlord for charging in, Butcher and Shaman to support our units/dispell Spells, 2 Thundertusks to blast at things as we march forward. Or; Allegiance: Beastclaw Raiders Mortal Realm: Ghur Huskard on Thundertusk (360) - General - Harpoon Launcher - Trait: Everwinter's Master - Artefact: Gryph-feather Charm Butcher (140) - Pair of Stump Blades and Great Cauldron - Allies 4 x Mournfang Pack (320) - Gargant Hackers 4 x Mournfang Pack (320) - Gargant Hackers 2 x Mournfang Pack (160) - Culling Clubs or Prey Hackers with Iron Fists Thundertusk Beastriders (340) Thundertusk Beastriders (340) Malevolent Maelstrom (20) Total: 2000 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 140 / 400 Wounds: 103 For a more of a shooty/"Alpha-Strike" list, just try and go all out turn 1 with the 3xThundertusks and keep them healed up during the game with our Huskard/Butcher, hopefully giving our Mournfangs chance to get into combat unharmed/not focused. But yeah complete noob when it comes to AoS never even played a game yet haha! Need to pop down to a local Geedubs and get a demo or something haha. So yeah, is the faction worth investing into? I've heard both good and bad, but mostly bad haha! Let me know!
