  1. Huuuuuuuuuuuge respect to him making such a sexy looking Army list and providing lore/backstory, oozing with Royalty!
  2. Are the Regen heroes required now in the new army book? I mean, I guess I could build 1 or 2 get an extra box but dunno! ¯\(º_O)/¯ I started collecting FEC back when I saw the Monster Mash list that Ben Souza and Alan won large GTs with (sadly seems every list has been taken down now, but was 3 GKoT, Arkhan the Black, and 30 Ghouls (to sit on objectives), would fly in, summon 4 units of Horrors into the enemies deployment, buff GKoT's up with your magic spells then have everything charge in, into a big Monster Mash! haha). But due to the change to Magestic Horror it doesn't quite work now... I did post an attempt to recreate that list on page 1 (basically replacing Arkhan with an Archregent and using MH/Charnel Throne to get some free Summons, letting us get the 4 units of Horrors turn1 still), but no idea if it'd be viable at all. So I don't know if I should stick with Summoning Horrors still or just go with something like you suggested... I just look at basic Terrorgheists and I'm like... hmmm, Yeah but for an extra 100pts I can Summon 160pts worth of stuff! 😂 haha
  3. So I thought I'd take this thread in a slightly different direction and ask for some (much needed) advice... Models I OWN are.... 3x GK on Terrorgheist (1 is unbuilt so could be a ZD I guess, they seem a nightmare to transport though haha!) 1x Abhorrant Archregent 2x Units of 3 Horrors (built) 2x Units of 3 Horrors/or Flayers (unbuilt) 50x Ghouls Charnel Throne Using just these models (that includes for summoning, don't have any extra). What kind of list would you build at 1k and 2k? I'm a huge fan of big monsters (If the 3 Terrorgheists didn't already make that obvious haha) and low model count armies (elites like horrors with just a few chaff Ghouls to hold objectives). But with this new army book I've no idea what direction to go in! Like... Summoning Horrors via heavy Summon Royal Guard abuse, or run Horrors as Battleline and back up with a few Ghouls/possibly summon more...? I dunno! BUT YEAH! These are all the models I own, you miiiiiiight be able to convince me to get another model/or box of something if the list seems really cool... otherwise just want to stick with what I own. I'm super new to AoS so no idea or experience to go off of! So if anyone could help that would be AMAZING 🤩 Thank you! ❤️
  4. Yeah that's what I thought when I made the post Eevika hahaha, but was asking in case anyone knew a work around or had made some magic water texture lol! I wouldn't be too bothered about having actual like, raindrop splashes on them or having water dripping off them, just having them "look" "dripping wet"/soaked through, would be fine.... but yeah can't think of any easy ways that's for sure haha. So might just settle with making them look muddy and having lots of mud/puddles on the bases
  5. Yeah I was thinking maybe, getting some gloss and mixing in small parts of a blue glaze/ink to make it a ~little~ bit blue, paint the models bit darker then very lightly blue gloss on them, make them look soaked through. Will likely have some extra models I can experiment on. Thanks for the advice for the mud! I'll check out Typhus Corrosion see how it does. Plus yes! Seen lots of videos to make your own Stirland Mud (I did a google of it to see the effects and most results were how to make your own haha!). The reason I made a thread is because I know in like, the miniature-train community they have all sorts for making rivers and fields of grass and so on, so wondered if there were anything for mud effects or decent water-effect paints (looking up Vallejo water effects now, I keep hearing good things about it). I'm guessing Vallejo water effects applied to models does not look good? Haha
  6. So I've recently been working on my FEC and was thinking up what paint scheme I'll be wanting to use... I had the idea that I'd love to paint my mini's as if they were in the rain, so it brought up the question... is there a way to paint your miniature so it looks "wet"? Asif it's standing in a HEAVY downpour? I can't even begin to imagine how you'd accomplish this and it's likely out of my skill range. However I thought I'd ask just in case some company out there sells a "water wash" or something like that! (Surely someone out there with Idoneth army has tried this!? Haha) If not, what paints/technical/textures would you recommend for incredibly sloshy-muddy bases? I've seen GW sell a pot of mud texture but no idea if it's any good. Also any tips/techniques for painting mud ONTO the miniature (like splattered on their backs/shoulders asif they've been hiding or slipping in it) would be fantastic too! Thanks in advance for any and all help! 🎩 😸👍
  7. Thanks for making this thread haha! I've just gotten started with AoS and was building my way towards "Monster Mash" build I'd been seeing since it absolutely seemed like my kind of playstyle. Giant Monsters? Aw heck yes! (Really not a fan of horde/swarm armies). https://thehonestwargamer.com/aos-list-rundowns/how-to-eat-flesh-have-your-cake-too-monster-mash-flesheaters/ Sadly the change to Magestic Horror has really crippled the list, so trying to band-aid that, but hoping I can replace Arkhan with the new Archregent (Since he can get a free Summon and can also cast/dispell 2). However with being a noob who hasn't actually played a full game yet, I'd love some feedback! I'd prefer to keep my 3 GK on Terrorgheists since... Woo! Giant Monsters! (Who also Summon in free elite units instead of messing around with that whole, giant horde army shtick). Three would defo look cooler on the board than 2!.... But it's been tough building with Grand Courts since they lock you in on Traits/Artefacts (booo). Currently 2 SC boxes in and just picked up Carrion Empires, so need to know what I need to polish things off! (Also need to figure out my 1k and 1.5k lists at some point 🤣 haha)

  9. After looking this up I think I'm in love! BIG Monsters? Sign me up. I adore the idea behind this list, just the sort of army I'm looking for! Think I'm going to start off by buy 2 FEC boxes, get everything built and painted (save myself from the "Plastic pile of Shame" if I were to buy it all at once), maybe play a few 1k or 1.5k games get a feel for AoS see if I do enjoy it, then invest into finishing off that list. Very excited, thanks for pointing it out!
  10. Just for some theorycrafting fun/a starting point. If you were to build a Daemons of Tzeentch army using only the Start Collecting boxes; (So 2xBurning Chariot (Which we can stick a Herald or Flamer on), 2xHerald (on foot, on disc, or on the Chariot), 6xFlamers, 6xScreamers and 20xPink Horrors) What sort of list would you build? Obviously not going to be optimal, can also in theory convert some units, but for starting out at 1,000pts, what would you chose? (plus Artefacts, Spells, all that good stuff) (I'm guessing something like, Herald on Chariot, 20 Pink Horrors, 3 Screamers, 3 Screamers and Chariot for 960? Yeah I've no idea whats good haha!) Looking to help a friend get started and they want to buy 2 of the Start Collecting boxes before they go up in price (Since they love the Daemons way more than Tzaangors). So please help me pick the best of the "worst" haha, so can have some fun casual games at the very least!
  11. Considering this post is 2years old now (found it via the search bar), thought I'd just ask the question... Is it still viable/worth investing in? Seems quite cheap and incredibly fun! So thought I'd perform a quick bit of Necromancy and find out haha!
  12. I've become quite enamored by this faction, I absolutely adore the Phoenix's and would love an ice themed army. Plus all the 2k lists in here seem really fun! So I have a few questions; 1. Can 1k lists be built/viable? (Guessing 2 Anointed on Frosthearts and 30 Guard? Or 1 Frostheart, ally Mage and fill rest with 40~ Guard) 2. If I start at 1k and build up to 2k, is the faction worth the investment? Or monetarily is it overpriced/underpowered? 3. What is the definitive/"best" or atleast most popular 2k list composition? 4. How long (if ever) do you think it would be until they get a true tome, and when they do, do you think it would change a lot/make certain models unviable (like currently there's no pts cost to mounting an Anointed on a Phoenix, so no reason not to) (And since they don't have their own Discussion thread, are Order Draconis still an "undiscovered power list"? Haha ) Thanks!
  13. Just feels that way to me at the moment for the armies I really like, FEC are Summoning focused (despite me feeling that's more sorta Death/Zombie/Skeletons kindof area), Lizardmen (so salty at their new playstyle lol), BoC, Tzeentch, Chaos in general... But hey since I'm asking what's the average number of Ghouls you -should- have for 1k, 1.5k, 2k etc. I'll look into that list, Thank you! Though that's a heck of a lot of boxes haha, guessing I'm a fool for thinking I can get into the hobby on the cheap for sub £100-ish/or via SC boxes >.>;; Still this is some great feedback so thank you for your help! :D
  14. I was just hoping to get by on Summoning some Horrors and replenishing Ghouls (as can only assume they die in droves), was probably gonna get 1 extra box of Ghouls just in case too... leaving me with like, 30 in the list, 40 in total... But by the sounds of things I'm gonna need like 50 more boxes? 🤣 Baaaah I hate the Summoning culture that smothers AoS at the moment! Wanted to Start Lizardmen too but they're all Slanns and Skinks and Summoning at the mo! (Granted, it's a smart move on GW's part, hey buy these extra models just in case! 😂) So should I not bother at all or? 😢 Won't lie I don't mind fielding like 40-50 models (*ghouls) but defo not a Horde style of player. Just looking for a good jumping on point (Gonna go ahead and plug my previous thread on the subject:
  15. This is the exact kind of honesty I was searching for, you explain WHY they aren't that great in good detail which is what I was looking for, nice to hear a solid understanding over true love haha. As you say, it's much more sensible to give a new player an enjoyable experience, rather than "pick an army you like the look of (but will lose every game)". So thank you! Coming from Fantasy I was a big fan of Ogre Kingdoms (*Gutbusters? Feh! :P) so honestly, I can just wait on BCR to get good/Gutbusters to get a Battletome, so no real loss
