Yes, and sadly one of the units, I’ve been frequently using, I build-converted of 13, now are questionable for their points.

i’m not certain If I can ever consider taking one again.

how I miss my old rules and buffs which could be given to rattling gun weapon teams.

the not so great unit back then, and the even worse units now.

This is an amazing ability, especially considering that the soulseekers cost like nothing (30p)

I’m probably going to build some kind of a smaller warp portal, that can be used as the soulseeker.

The gnawhole warscroll now says you can teleport once from EACH gnawhole per turn and don't need a hero next to it. Big upgrade and I'm sure there will be movement shenanigans!

  2. Clan rats are not on the board to fight so an extra 1" is fairly meaningless to a unit you should not expect to do any damage. It's bit handier for plague monks but it is a weak replacement for +1 to hit and +1 to wound for larger units. Can't see any incentive in bringing any non elite units in more than min size so far.

Popular armies get more attention and releasing new books for these armies is like printing money for GW.

All those DoK, LRL, and SoB players will have to update themselves with a fresh tome. Main reason some armies don't get new tomes, despite needing it, is because it is not worth it for GW to do so. They slot them in between the main armies, AKA the moneymakers, and let the bottom tier factions live with the Hope™ GW will address their issues in a WD/TC/GHB.

TL;DR: GW's ways are neither random or mysterious. Just follow the money and the reason for why certain armies get preferential treatment start to make sense.

The opposite is also true. Some armies get no support at all in terms of models or rules and so remain unpopular. People don't buy them and GW carries on ignoring them. Skaven have had 2 heroes in 7 years and many models are metal. Just a book won't fix that. Gits have great models but awful rules. They just need a book. BOC are a nice idea that has been abandoned almost completely. Fyreslayers are an opportunity missed by taking a chance on having every model be an almost identical naked dwarf.

GW isn't a small scale company where you can argue that they don't have the resources to support large chunks of their product line. Ad to that their quality control and proof reading on books is appaling. They probably need to cut the number of factions by souping them and then give better support. BOC into STD, all the dwarfs together, orcs and gits. Remaining dark Elves into DOC etc.

They do so much that is right and amazing and make money because of it but that doesn't excuse a multi billion pound company living in amateur hour in many other aspects.

I believe that the reason why GW decide not to expand any dwarven army is that they want to soup all dwarfs together in 1 book (KO, FS, Dispossessed) as a new Khazalid Empire and maybe we will get any love when this book will come up(there is a ton of hints in the lore right now). So as I sayed long time ago it looks like we will have 3 books for Elves, 1 for dwarfs, 1 for SCE and 1-2 for Humans.

Surely there should be 3 books for the Elven-kings under the sky, 7 books for the Dwarf Lords in their halls of stone and 9 for mortal men(and stormcast) doomed to die. 1 book for the dark lord (Malerion) on his dark throne. In the land of Ulgu where the shadows lie.

Honestly as someone with a small Sylvaneth collection and no Skaven that box is kind of appealing to both expand my existing force and give me some fun Skaven stuff to paint

There will be a line of Skaven players (including me) lining up to buy the deathmaster on ebay. We all probably already have plenty of all the other models.

So guys what are your thoughts on this list?

I personally call it the Morathi-things stopper.

Although depending on your roles it might just barely work against a tzeentch archaon list, although that seems very unlikely.

    Anyways here’s the list:

    Allegiance: Skaventide

    - Grand Strategy: None Chosen

    - Triumphs:

    Thanquol on Boneripper (405)

    - 2 Warpfire Braziers & 2 Warpfire Projectors

    - Lore of Ruin: Warpgale

    Verminlord Warpseer (335)

    - General

    - Command Trait: Cunning

    - Universal Spell Lore: Levitate

    Plague Priest (85)

    - Artefact: Liber Bubonicus

    - Universal Prayer Scripture: Curse

    60 x Clanrats (390)

    - Rusty Spear

    - Reinforced x 2

    60 x Clanrats (390)

    - Rusty Spear

    - Reinforced x 2

    20 x Clanrats (130)

    - Rusty Blade

    1 x Warpfire Thrower (70)

    1 x Warpfire Thrower (70)

    Soulsnare Shackles (65)

    Emerald Lifeswarm (60)

    Total: 2000 / 2000

    Reinforced Units: 4 / 4

    Allies: 0 / 400

    Wounds: 176

    Drops:

Just on Thanquol I think to get the most benefit you have to make a decision is he a combat killer or a burner. Half and half leaves him good but not amazing at either. I played bonereapers last week with the warpfire thrower option and the the ability to guarantee deleting a unit of mortek guard so they couldnt be reinforced was huge.

  7. There's nothing particularly bad here. Try making an animation with Mickey Mouse and see what Disney do.  Also the guidelines are guidelines because its difficult or not possible for them to be infringements. Noone has to worry about review videos whatever they show. If i want to buy a codex and make a youtube video about it im covered by specific legal protections. UK law below, there are fair use provisions in US law too.

    https://www.bl.uk/business-and-ip-centre/articles/fair-use-copyright-explained

As an exception to British copyright law, fair dealing is governed by Sections 29 and 30 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, which outlines three instance where fair dealing is a legitimate defence:

    • If the use is for the purposes of research or private study;
    • If it is used for the purposes of criticism, review or quotation;
    • Where it is utilised for the purposes of reporting current events (this does not apply to photographs)

Skaven are just hideous. They are vile and disgusting creatures with vile and disgusting lore and I shall never forgive them for stealing as many fortresses from the Dwarves as they did.

I don't know, but, with the exception of Clan Skryre, I hate almost everything about them. If someone enjoys them and Skaven make them happy - I guess I'm happy for you and I hope that you get new fun stuff to play with. But I personally would gladly send Skaven and Chaos Dwarves into oblivion if we could get back Bretonnia and Tomb Kings instead.

If reading this made someone sad or angry - I'm sorry! I just felt like I needed to put this out there. And it's not like there's not lots of hating on Stormcast or Lumineth, so.. 😅

I've never really understood the facination with bretonnians. The hook is knights in shining armour and thats it. They seem so bland an idea when compared to all the other weird and wonderful stuff. If they ever did return I imagine their legacy fans wont be happy as GW will have to change them quite a bit so they produce some unique intellectual property. Whether you hate skaven and chaos dwarfs or not you cant deny they have character.

Honestly, painting hundreds of similar-looking ratmen does that. Skaven would be a lot more popular if Horde armies wouldn't be tedious to paint (and purchasing them wouldn't be so expensive!), especially for beginners.

Clan rats are actually very easy and quick to paint in large batches.

They are very small models and there are a fair few guides out there for speed painting them. Painting 20 from start to finish in an evening is a perfectly reasonable goal and you only need 60 to fulfill battleline for a 2k army. There are loads of cool other units like bells and wheels to add.

Or play Skryre and have a small elite army of amazing looking stormfiends.

This time line would put it at between 4-5 years from announcement which makes sense but could just be an educated guess. If the Army and Core Book is true though that's incredible for players.

It sounds off to me. 4-5 years of planning and effort. New model design, production and rules, a whole reimagining of a new timeline just so people can play models that are 10-15 years old at that point? GW wont sell many models if lots of players reach for the box they have in the loft.

I think if they were doing that they might just take an easy win by releasing a campaign book for legends or something like that. Min effort max benefit.

@Scurvydog, perhaps you and @KingBrodd are both right: a sorcerer king/prophet who is the “voice” of Ushoran, taking his place at the Mortarch table as Nagash tries to re-establish his hold on the realms after Teclis pimp slapped him.

Maybe with some new FEC models that push the delusion angle. I.e. man at arms from the left side, horror from the right,

I think Sentinels are going to cause more headaches as support character and chaff removers.  They aren’t an easy unit to setup to do the big damage people are saying, and Lumineth have no cheap counter chaff of their own and will rely on chip damage shooting in that regard.  Plus Sentinels are one of a few strategies in that entire battle tome actually reliable to help take out enemy wizards, which will be a priority to control magic phases without Teclis.

I think Stormfiends are worse for Unleash Hell, Hurricane Raptors and Sisters of the Watch as well, more because the armies they come with generally support their warscroll better and I think get better mileage out of those units outside of just shooting stuff.  To a degree I believe all of those units kind of need the option to stay relevant, and at the cost of a CP it’s not going to be at hand in even the most well laid plans, really fun with my Mortis Engine I gotta say.

Stormfiends are a bad points investment in a unit of 3 as they just dont do enough. At 6 they can be very powerful when buffed but that is dependent on getting mmmwp spell off for rerolls (casting 7) and using a spark to increase damage. The rerolls would stay until the next hero phase but you cant use a spark during unleash hell. Also, 6 stormfiends are 630pts + a 125pt warlock engineer for the buffs. 600pts would get you a unit of 30 and a unit of 10 sentinals. Stormfiends are very very dangerous and i love them but if mmmwp fails their shooting damage output is low compared to the points investment. Coherancy on their large bases means they cant effectively fight in melee in units of 6.

Stormfiends should have a decent place but I think people are expecting too much.

A few key things to remember :
They are amazingly ****** at shooting without buffs       e.g. no buffs = 3x SFs ave 3.8 damage (at 315pts... wow)
They are really good fully buffed                                   e.g. MMWP, spark = 3x SFs ave 14.4 damage
Their main damage output is their ratlings and they are only 12" range and -1 rend in an edition with a lot more armour
They have gone up 55pts for 3
They dont have a champion to access CAs, they need a foot hero for all buffs
Unleash hell means the only buff they can have up is MMWP or vigordust still in effect from your previous hero phase. No sparks, no deranged inventor, no all-out-attack

Not to be a downer, but these guys are really polar opposites when buffed and unbuffed, and waaaay overcosted when not buffed.
There's too many things out there that can squish our heroes for this to be a no-brainer, even an archwarlock with 5+ ward is only an effective 9w with a 3+ save without further buffs. You probably have to really invest into an extra warlock and protection if you are going 6+ fiends which adds further to their effective cost.

Just something to keep in mind.

I agree. The 20% points increase just makes this a larger disparity. Short ranges on ratlings and coherancy with such big bases is going to limit shooting.

I would have bought the box if it would have, saurus, any kind of elf or even vsmpires, but more stormcast and ugly ass orcs? No thx, they could have been ironjaws at least.

Rules help too , i wont play a edittion where i cant use my units ( any 6+ models in minimun size with 32+ base and 1" weapon are totally useless, since only half will fight, despite people arguing u could spend 1 hour meassuring every milimeter and if rival is in perfect line u could even get 7 or 8 to fight!). And 2 absurds ca to ranged with an op endless to make melees more useless in a rangedhammer....So i will wait 1 year to see if other 2 faqs and other ghb fix that madness.

What army (s) do you play?

  15. I imagine a fair few people are waiting to see what happens with the new stormcast tome. They have not been in a good place for a long time (55 odd units, only about 10 of which are used and rules that have just got zapped by 3.0) and players likely move on to a second or third army they are more focused on. (My stormcast have been in a box for a while and are now on ebay).

Also if GW do mean this to be a starter set for the whole edition and have produced product with a year of sales in mind I am not surprised it didnt sell out in a week or two. That doesnt mean sales have been poor it means GW soaked up lots of initial demand.

Hey all — looking for some feedback on a mixed Skryre / Verminus list. Going to be getting my first third edition game in soon.

    Grey Seer w Bell 265

    Warlock Bombardier 125

    Warlock Bombardier 125

    40 Clanrats 260

    20 Clanrats 130

    30 Stormvermin 330

    Doomwheel 165

    Warp Lightning Cannon 185

    6 Jezzails 290

Feeling good about the list overall — decent number of bodies and a few solid threats. My main question is what to do with the remaining 125 points. On hand and painted I have a claw lord, a plague priest, the vermintide spell and a mix of weapon teams (ratlings and warpfires). Thoughts?

As has already been mentioned the new prayer curse is amazing for skaven. Priest curses a unit and hits of 6+ against it do a mw in addition. Warpfire hidden in clan rats is pretty much essential now.

the good channels EDIT their battle reports to cut down on irrelevant banter so it's not too long. they'll use 'cinematic' shots and provide multiple angles where you can see how the battle is progressing. the good batreps also lay out each turn phase + the rules being used so you know what's going on.

I've seen batreps go from 1.5hrs to ~3hrs. I don't personally watch the 3hr ones but from my understanding the longer ones are usually because of edition or battletome changes so there are more explanations going on.

Miniwargaming batreps are the easiest for me to watch because those guys have a really good groove that keeps the game flowing while still giving you the info needed to think about your own tactics.

on a closing note I will say that I don't watch batreps often, but if you're doing menial tasks that don't require too much brainpower they are good background watching.

Try a few of the Log Cabin Gaming ones. They average just over an hour. We have beer, a log cabin and just started narrative intros too.

I wouldnt be suprised for the Mawtribes SC to get new Glutton sculpts much like the SC STD. Throw in an updated Butcher or Slaughtermaster as well.

I have gluttons that I will continue to use but the number of people who are extra special salty about how the coherancy change (and points increase) neuters them is high. If they issued amazing new sculpts in a SC right now I would not buy it. I might buy 1 box of 6 new sculpts to replace a current unit but that would be it. They need to change coherency to 6 models from 5 or change glutton's range to 2" and trampling charge to 4+ for 6 models not 8.

at least GW don't charge to be part of the Beta Test (as it was for 40k)

and there is no good BS file because until now it was not needed

I guess the reason is either the new App is in house developed while Azyr was external, or it cannot handle the 40k style of book purchase (the change in technology that the article mentions) or both

well it seems GW think the 40k app is the better piece of software, so they make an AoS version instead of doing a 40k version of Azyr

There is a very very easy way of fixing that. GW have a record of who bought which ebook on the existing AOS app. All they need to do is email those people a code that lets them access it on the new app without charge (same type of 1 use code they print on the 40k books).

    Fixed.

I wonder why people dislike Mournfangs so much? While loosing the Battalion in Matched no longer allows fishing for MW's, they got with "All out attack" a huge buff to their reliability (Hitting on 4+ is a damned joke). Where they hit by some points increases?

Btw the Husskard CA is also a neat buff to Mournfangs which also syngergizes well with the All out Attack.

They went up 20pts to 160 for 2.
