  1. Except that none of the currently available Thunderstrike Stormcast or Kruelboyz models have downloadable warscrolls on the webstore. Although possible it’s because they’re only available in boxsets currently, Soul Wars still had the warscroll downloads. This suggests to me they’re either waiting until the battletome releases (like they did for The Crimson Court in Soulblight), or AoS is no longer doing free warscrolls
  2. Don’t you need Vanguard Raptors for the Aetherwings to do their charge phase move?
  3. The assumption is that Annihilators will be split into 2 warscrolls based on weapon because the 2 handed ones shouldn’t have a 2+ save without the shield
  4. I think it’s worth mentioning that as long as a preorder date falls within a certain month, then gw consider it ‘released’ in that month (see Orktober a few years ago)
  5. You realise that this argument would mean that every wizard who knows a lore spell would be able to cast it in addition to their warscroll spells regardless of how many spells the warscroll says they can cast right? So you’re ok with Teclis casting 22 spells a turn
  6. Re: Evocators and spells Evocators can only cast ONE spell per turn. Warscroll specifies they can only cast Empower (this is specifically to disallow Arcane Bolt, Mystic Shield or realm spells). Lore Of Invigoration says they can know and cast one spell, and that this is an exception to the warscroll forbidding any spell other than Empower. The reason it says ‘and cast’ is because otherwise they could know the spell but not use it. Nowhere in any of the relevant rules does it say Evocators can cast more than one spell
  7. Unrelated to the recent rules previews but on the subject of book writers: I believe there are 2 writers/groups of writers. One writes fun, narrative rules that match the lore (Gloomspite Gitz etc), and the other writes the most overpowered game breaking nonsense they can get away with (Slaanesh 2019 etc) I don’t agree with the sin/bin meme going around because the battletomes from the first category are actually the better books, it’s the second category that are bad
  8. Allies never benefit from allegiance abilities, so no I don’t think you can pick non Lumineth units with Lightning Reactions
  9. This nonsense has being going around since the very start of the Middle-earth SBG, and is absolutely false. Middle-earth has ALWAYS had a seperate team of rules writers and model sculptors from the other games. Neither impacts releases of the other
  10. Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game is the best GW ‘main game’ rule set they’ve ever done. If/when the license ends, I hope they adapt it for AoS or 40k
  11. I think the main point here is that this is a launch box, not a starter set. It isn’t intended for complete beginners but any company would be stupid to actually come out and say ‘dont buy this if youre new’ it also isn’t intended to be bought multiple times and build a full army out of it, neither are the Start Collecting boxes by the way. the actual starter set, like 40K, will come later and I’m guessing will mimic the 40K format of the Recruit, Elite and Command Edition boxes. personally I’m not buying Dominion, I don’t have the money for it right now (I want a Stardrake! I’ve been putting it off for years) and I suspected it to be gone when I do. I have however secured the Stormcast half of the box. I’m waiting to see what the actual starter set is because I’m hoping for a small format rulebook like the 40K Elite/Command Edition has - I’m not a fan, and never have been, of the large hardback rulebooks. I don’t need the lore sections when I’m playing a game at the store or something. I much prefer digital purely because of the physical space it saves (and the lower prices means I can buy more models), but if 40K is anything to go by then digital books are as good as gone sadly
  12. Just like the Start Collecting boxes, you aren’t supposed to buy multiple boxes and build a full army out of them. They’re supposed to ‘get you started’ with an army
  13. I blame the previous and existing player base for this being an issue, because just like the fantasy ‘old guard’ people are ‘gatekeeping’ new guy rocks up with his 1 cool hero and a couple of small units looking for a game at the store, everyone laughs at them and says ‘come back when you’ve got 2000pts’ Matched Play is NOT the only way to play, in fact, the game is actually designed around Open Play (as proven by AoS1 pre Generals Handbook). However, Matched Play is the ‘easiest’ way to play with people at the local store
  14. FAQ and Errata are basically the same thing in this context as GW don’t release one without the other, although they are technically 2 separate documents
  15. Why are people assuming Lord Kroak would give those eggs to Sigmar and the Stormcast?
  16. You obviously haven’t been paying attention to how much stuff has been delayed this year -Seraphon underworlds warband (and every one after it) we’re pushed back a month -40K orks box should have been out by now -40K grey knights and thousand sons codex + battle box were supposed to be out before chapter approved released -sisters of battle are still waiting on at least 1 kit from the codex -Cawdor necromunda were due months ago etc
  17. To further add confusion to this nonsense (I’m of the belief that you CANT take a mount) the Flesh-Eater Courts Royal Family battalion which started the whole debate received an errata that specifically says no mounts but no other battalions got this
  18. Books are printed months in advance. All that image from the learn to play video tells us is that they wanted to release the book in July, but with the pandemic still causing issues it could have been delayed (eg Space Marines and Necrons last year not coming until October, with the last of the new kits only arriving a month or 2 ago)
  19. That is my theory, yes. Most armies have small model ranges, Stormcast are the largest Order faction and they pay for having those choices with worse rules and limited Battleline options - if Stormcast didn’t have 50+ models to choose from we would have had ‘Battleline If’ Dracothian Guard, I firmly believe we don’t purely because of how much choice Stormcast have
  20. The issue with Hearthguard unit/box size is that the AoS3 rules indirectly nerfed spamming Hearthguard with the Reinforcement rules. Now instead of 3x20 you’ll see 2x15 and maybe some units of 5. If they up the box/unit size to 10, it completely undermines the nerf (although we’d all appreciate the price discount of buy 1x10 vs the current 2x5 costs). Hearthguard, according to the lore, are more of a bodyguard elite unit rather than the main fighting force and it’s always bothered me that spamming max Hearthguard is all anyone seems to do. Now GW are in an awkward position, because the fyreslayers model range/unit selection is so small, they can’t really apply lore based restrictions on army building (ie no Battleline Hearthguard, and max 1 limits for Runefather and Runemaster). GW have backed Fyreslayers (and themselves) into a corner, if they don’t plan to expand the army then they have no choice but to do a Orruk Warclans style book for Duardin. If yet another Fyreslayers battletome is released without any new models, then I think that will kill the faction. It would send a message to players (intentionally or not) that the army is on life support and won’t be supported. It will drive away the people who want to get into Fyreslayers but don’t because there’s limited choices, and potentially drive away the current players of the faction. I understand GW is a business and needs to make money, but Fyreslayers are in a catch22. They’re (apparently) unpopular and have low sales, and because of that gw (seemingly) don’t want to invest more money/resources into a bad selling faction by making more units. But not having more units is a major factor in why they’re unpopular and don’t sell well 🤷‍♂️
  21. Why is everyone ignoring the fact battletome overrides core rules in regards to named characters and spells? “You can choose or roll for one of the following spells for each WIZARD in a <insert faction here> army” overrides “Enhancements cannot be given to Unique units or Allied units, unless noted otherwise”
  22. Exhibit A: Lord Kroak can use the Slann spell lore in a Grand Alliance army because his new warscroll says he knows all the spells. That is no doubt a big part of why he went up 110pts because he really doesn’t seem worth 430pts honestly but he needed to be removed as an ally to Stormcast (note that I’m not saying he didn’t need an increase, just that his new warscroll isn’t worth the increase he got, and that he purely went up to stop allies)
