  1. Sure. How will GW push diversity in AoS? Probably make more Space Marines. I mean way more Stormcast. Yea, more than anyone actually wants. Those always sell and everyone loves them. If the goal here is to get a more diverse player base, here’s the real answers: 1. Don’t push diversity. This one is reverse psychology, but when you say “We want to be a more diverse group of people” you also say “we don’t like the people we have right now, so we want y’all gone” 2. Bring balance to armies, or as close as you can. There’s that one person who got drawn in by BoC. He never has a chance to win and he’s going to quit after the third or fourth game. Give them a chance to win. 3. Make this game easier to get into. Having the Warhammer store move into the area multiplied the number of games of AoS I got in last year tenfold. And that’s with an FLGS that got frequented (Nobody actually liked hanging out there due to the smells and Magic players). Having lower prices so people can get into the hobby ($90 for a start collecting/start here set OR $50 for five dudes are ridiculous prices and it doesn’t even cover everything). Contrast paints and push to fit models have been wonderful for this. Too bad this whole post is so deep in the thread that no one will notice.
  2. They jump started the 40K car with all the 9th edition stuff, so it's going to get 100% of the attention. On the one hand, I'm sad because that means AoS is left behind again (and in truth, that's part of what killed WFB). On the other hand, no new product means I get to catch up on buying/building everything that's been sitting in my closet.
  3. If I had a dollar for every time somebody walked into the Warhammer store, looked at everything in there, picked up a box or two, turned it over to see the price, put it back, and left, I'd be able to afford a Warlord Titan. Here, everybody feel better and have a picture of puppies.
  4. Guns are amazing neutralizer of gender disparity. I know plenty of women twice my size who I could still beat in a fistfight, but could easily hit the mark on targets twice as far as I can.
  5. Inb4 mods get mad that someone criticized GW and anchor this thread. First and most importantly, a scathing critique of your post: 1. No one over the age of 10 builds hype for McDonalds. 2. Their burgers are sub-par at best. 3. Their breakfast on the other hand is the best fast food breakfast you can get, but when the virus hit, they ended all-day service for it. The real problem with the GHB is that it really had a few things going for it that were necessary: -Open Play Game Modes -Stuff for fluff players -Rules Pack for tournaments -Points Updates -Allegiance Abilities The Open Play and Stuff for Fluff sections are good but can be lacking. The problem is that we only ever need these once or are considered such low priority to everyone that they rarely get updated or expanded upon. I remember having GHB18 and 19 with me, and we wanted to play a multiplayer game, but neither of those had the rules. The rules pack gets the most looked at and usually has a few changes. The biggest change last year was Meeting Engagements, which feel like beta rules for a 1000 point format that needs a lot more playtesting. Every army has a book now, so there shouldn't be a need for an Allegiance Abilities section. I think most of us would like to see this turn into a "Warscroll/Ability Update" section to balance certain things that can't be fixed via points adjustments alone. A lot of armies got updates via FAQ, and those changes (especially big ones like to Slaanesh) should be addressed in a paper book if we are going to keep using this old world technology. That then gets us to points. Oh boy the Points Discussion. I will put my opinion bluntly: GW are incapable of adjusting points. Put aside the usual debates of whether they live in a bubble of their own, or don't look at tournament stats, or don't listen to community feedback, or have a driving agenda to undercost some units to drive sales. None of those can be deciphered. What can be proven is that books that came out in October of last year (8-9 months away) have come out too soon for sufficient evaluation and adjustments to make it into the printed copy. That should be more than enough for them to release points adjustments outside from the GHB. Combine with the fact that the AoS App has point values (even if it needs an update to refit everything into appropriate armies), and I mostly don't need the GHB anymore. I think it's time they took it in a new direction and used it as an annual rules update for every faction.
  6. I could be wrong, but I don’t believe it did. You may be thinking of December’s FAQs. The final print was probably due to the printer sometime after December (I believe a number of points adjustments made for the FAQ made it into this book, where it says there are changes, but there aren’t any). But it would also be before February, since you should have seen something after OBR and DOT ruled over LVO and CanCon metas. In the end, this is really just building a case for the fact that we need points adjustments outside of the once yearly GHB.
  7. Horrors only getting a 20 point raise, and they didn’t touch the Gaunt Summoner, which summons a whole unit of Horrors. But thank goodness they took it to Changeling.
  8. Five years later, and this guy still doesn’t get the love he deserves. Say something nice about him.
  9. I like how the Run 10,000 samples button actually runs 10,000 samples. Most people calculate a straight average.
  10. No disrespect to what you provide to the community, but it’s disingenuous to say “well go prove it then” when we all know how little data is easily available to look at. I don’t even know who all the playtesters are, much less which books they tested. That said, considering that playtesters are really good players anyway, and, if the terminology carries over from betatesters, are looking for things that are game-breaking, instead of playing to learn the army better, then there probably won’t be a huge gap between them and the rest of the field.
  11. Dear GW, If you ever wanna SEE me update my precious LITTLE 4th Edition Lizardmen again, bring a new plastic Slann kit in an untraceable box to my local LGS. PS. I mean it and I'm a very big Seraphon player. Love, Fairbanks
  12. I have been under the long belief that GW prices are already too high. Taking store experience of watching a new couple come in, look over everything, pick up a box, turning it over to see the price, and putting it right back. Makes me sad. But I've been saying they're too high because I see that EVERY online store has a 15% discount. When the online stores are willing to forgo half of their potential profit to get the business, business gained when there are added shipping costs from point A that is hundreds of miles from the final destination, something is wrong.
  13. People Versed in Multiverse Theory: So out there is a universe where Archaon and the Chaos Gods defend the Mortal Realms from Sigmar and his villainous Pantheon. Me: So it's just like the one we already have?
  14. Then I noticed that out of owning every army, the armies that fit into the sliver of Primed and Not Started (Tzeentch, Daughters, Stormcast, and Beasts) were all chosen. So FEC. It’s primed white and there’s the first green basecoat, but I did all of that in three days from New in Box (it was meant to be an army in a week, but pregnant wife and in-laws at Thanksgiving doesn’t make for a productive weekend)
  15. Don't really have a link, but after watching an episode of Mysteries of the Abandoned it dawned on me that the old layouts of dead cities (Craco was the entrance to my rabbit hole) might be a great place to start building an abandoned town / Mordheim-style Terrain board.
  16. A few days ago, famed AoS Youtuber 2+ Tough had a livestream in which he built an AI for Warcry, based primarily using the AI from the Solo Warhammer: Troggoth Slayers article. Having dabbled with the idea of an AI for AoS before myself (because I love the game, but I have been a lonely player for forever), I thought this might be a fun exercise to go through as well. I will be starting from scratch, so our end results should look totally different. Rule Zero All actions that the player makes for the AI should be in the AI's best interest. After all, if you were playing an actual human opponent, they are not going to give you the easy win (unless, you know, they're a good guy and/or trying to get you addicted to plastic crack). Hero Phase Roll six dice for both Player and AI as normal. Player may add Wild Dice to own pool as normal. Determine at this point who goes first based on whether Player or AI has the most singles, using a roll off as a tie. Add one 'Wild AI Die' to the AI's pool, and add any from the previous round. Roll each Wild AI Dice separately and consult the table below: Roll Wild AI Die Result 1 Discard this Wild AI Die 2 Roll an Additional Wild AI Die next round 3 Add the Wild AI Die to a single to make a double 4 Add the Wild AI Die to a single to make a double 5 Add the Wild AI Die to a double to make trio, or single to make double 6 Add the Wild AI Die to a trio to make a quad, double to make trio, or single to make double AI Phase For each Double, Triple, and Quad, assign an ability to a fighter who can use one of those dice abilities. When assigning, do not assign Quads to Triples/Doubles or Triples to Doubles unless the AI does not have a valid fighter that can use those multiple rolls. Do not assign Universal Abilities if a valid Army-Specific Ability has not been assigned yet, and assign values to those abilities that utilize them. Assign abilities in this order: Those that do damage to multiple models, those that give bonus attacks, abilities that give bonus movement, abilities that heal, and then all other abilities. Combat Phase - Activation Selection Select a fighter to activate via the following order, moving all fighters that tie onto the next tiebreaker level: A fighter that is at risk of being killed due to the amount of damage that can be done by the number of yet-to-activate models around it. ***See Note 1 Below*** A fighter that has an ability assigned to it from the AI Phase A fighter that can deal the most damage this turn (remember that fighters in combat can attack twice compared to one that has to move into combat) The fighter closest to an Enemy Fighter, Unclaimed Objective, or Claimed Objective that is under threat of becoming unclaimed. Combat Phase - Actions Make actions for the fighter based on trying to accomplish as many of the following, and in the following order: Can claim an Unclaimed Objective or Treasure, or can deny victory for the Player If a model has an ability assigned to it from the AI Phase, incorporate further actions to maximize the effect of that ability Can move and kill a powerful fighter, yet-to-activate fighter, or any other enemy fighter Can move and attack a powerful fighter or yet-to-activate fighter, or any other enemy fighter Move toward the nearest enemy fighter (do not enter 1" melee range) or unclaimed Objective or Treasure, that the fighter would not have to pass through or around friendly units to reach. Use the next nearest enemy fighter or unclaimed objective if this fighter would be the third fighter heading for that fighter/objective (This prevents the entire AI army from clumping toward one weak decoy) Wrap-Up That should pretty much cover the whole system. I haven't had a chance to playtest it myself (that will require me having the time to clear my only desk space and setting up a game. If you have any ideas or find the time to playtest, post your experiences below. Comments and Critiques are highly encouraged. Happy Hobbying! ***Note 1: To determine a Fighter's Risk of Being Killed, Start with the Fighter's remaining health, then subtract each enemy's # Attacks * Non-Crit Damage for all enemy fighters who can make a move and attack, and twice that for all enemies within 1". If that number becomes less than zero, the fighter is at risk for being killed. Early thoughts were to use this to make some fighters run instead of fighting. But since the player isn't subjected to that rule, there isn't a point.
  17. As an avid user of what I will call the "Baked Potato Method", AKA; just setting your stuff in a box without any foam in it, there's a few advantages/disadvantages over storage with foam. It saves on space. Real estate is still expensive, even here in Texas where there's a whole lotta nothing. Sure, a storage unit is an option, but why would I pay for all that space just for a tiny set of models It saves on space for models that aren't going to break anyway. See your very first picture. Unless I'm smashing the model with a hammer, or used CA glue improperly (i.e. I used CA in the first place when plastic glue is 100 times superior), none of those figures are going to break, much less in a meaningful way. If you get the right kind of box, like a sterilite plastic container, you can use it in combination with some of the other methods without creating that weird tetris gap in your collection The lone disadvantage is that shaking the box or transporting the models as they are isn't a good option. The work around for that disadvantage is that if you have a box of foam as means of transportation, all you lose is the packing/unpacking time. I'd never store it in a non-closable container like your friend though. That just seems like asking for trouble.
  18. This is everything for Age of Sigmar (On a queen size bed). The bins in the back are each filled nearly to the top with grey models I feel less shame than most because I consider Built, not Painted, as Complete.
  19. My recollection of most of these: Stormcast: These might be really cool in any color but Gold. Yes, doing stone or marble is pretty awesome. Fyreslayers: It's just the Slayer theme. That's okay I guess. Everchosen: Cool, but I'm not building an army of three units that is that expensive. Stormcast, Fyreslayers, and Ironjawz: Oh great, 3/3 for resizing of old armies. RIP my old stuff. Sylvaneth: Literally nobody who was on the AoS train, or were potentially getting on the train, complained about this one. Not hyperbole. This was met with near universal praise. Kharadron: A Dwarf named Slickback. Most hated the balloons on launch, once they came out everybody said they were aight. Nurgle, Daughters: No Issue. Idoneth: These are okay, but they aren't the Merfolk I've been asking about. Nighthaunt and Gloomspite: Loved. Slaanesh: That's cool (Slaanesh is weird) Ossiarch Bonereapers: What's wrong with your face? Seraphon: Why you no plastic frog?
  20. Honestly, just kind of happy about GW being shut down. I probably buy too much stuff anyway and it’s nice to let my wallet have a break from new stuff. *Returns to waiting on a shipment of stuff I bought from Poland that was a few big things that were at a 30% discount*
  21. Teclis tried to bulls*** his way out of The End Times. Glad to learn he hasn’t changed at all.
  22. On the bright side, I have a New Cygor/Ghorgon model I didn’t ask for.
  23. What's the Over/Under on everything we currently have for AoS not getting an update, and everything for TOW being brand new?
