Two Thin Coats is great. Most of my stuff is Vallejo. Army Painter is supposed to be releasing a new formula of "Fanatic" Warpaints that are supposed to be quite good--eager to try them out.

I just don't like their attendants. I'd love to keep 40K as much it's own thing as possible. Those attendants are 150% 40k nonsense.
Their purpose also doesn't match their aesthetic. They're supposed to remind the SC of their humanity, but they just look like monks draped in bible passages. They should be holding trinkets, pets, or themselves be recognizable elements of the SC's life. Like what if one of the memorians was just their kid? It would be more impactful and drive home the cost of their affliction.

As an owner of both the old and new goblins. The old ones had way more character to them in their expressive faces and outfits. The newer ones are fine--better proportioned, yes, but boring.

So I just saw that River Trolls are getting reboxed for Warhammer the Old World. Is it possible we'll get a comparative resculpt of them for GSG soon or that they will be removed from the book for the rumored "Armoured Troggoths" or will they stay and just be compatible with both systems?
I don't really understand these Armored Troggoth rumors. Not saying they're wrong, but why would they design a second Troggoth unit that's all about being tough? Rockguts are already the "tough stone skin Troggoth" archetype. Unless it's a totally different kind of troggoth that just happens to wear some armor.

My guess is that they look more similar to the old Chaos Hellcannon crew.

Seraphon needs a revamps in their design because It is one of the hardest faction to balance and I am bored that all the editions happen the same. Maybe removing summoning and changing for return destroyed units is a way to balance. But the CPP is the same bad design as always, and a faction that requieres changes and fixes during all the editions is a design problem.
They continue making the same mistake of thinking the only thing Slanns can be good at is tactically nuking the opponent with 40 NPE mortals a turn. We really don't need to design them that way.

Stormcast having army-wide Finest Hour is rad.

On the Chariot warscroll: Roll a D3. on a 2+ ...
So a 3+ on a normal dice. I Hope that is an Error. We never Had a D3 except for damage before. Makes so Sense at confuses players
I don't think it's an error. It's a way to cut down on rolling dice for the sake of rolling. Instead of having to roll a 3+ and then roll D3 mortals, you do it all in a single die roll. It also makes it so you'll never only do 1 Mortal. It's a clever streamlining of what we're used to.

Can I say, I'm so pleased with the direction they took on USRs. Each ones explicitly identifies its effect. It's much easier to understand, and there's really nothing to memorize. This works better than something like "Sustained Hits" or "Devastating Strike" where you have to digest and retain what those phrases mean.

I think this all looks great. Counter Charge in particular is going to be fun. I'm hoping there's less save stacking through spells, abilities, etc., but other than AoD, I'm a fan of these commands.

As much as we complain about this, that, and the other thing. The AoS model design team always knocks it out of the park. It's just a question of whether or not the ball lands into your particular zone of interest.

I know it's little consolation for the inevitable, but it's worth reminding people that Beasts, Bonesplitterz and Sancrosanct will all get Index battletomes at the start of 4th ed. They won't be updated, but you still have about a year of playtime left with these models.
Again, it doesn't alleviate the pain, but these guys aren't dead quite yet. I say enjoy them while you can. -
That flag might be a little tone deaf considering the times we're currently living in. But I don't think they purposefully decided to reference ******. Black, red, and white have been Skaven primary colors since old Fantasy.

Weapon profiles being merged is fantastic and should have been implemented long ago. This isn't a WYSIWG game. Let's not pretend people didn't ALWAYS build whatever the numerical "best" option was.
There was no strategy, no flavor to it. But now, we can build ANYTHING we want without worrying it'll be nerfed into being the worst option in the next update. All of the AOS players I've ever met already do this and just say their unit is using whatever regardless of what the models look like.- 25

Power level is the number after wizard at the bottom, so Wizard (9) means you have a power level of 9 and can cast and dispel 9 times in a battle round.
Was kind of hoping we were moving to power dice or something to change up spellcasting, but that makes sense.

The only thing on the warscroll that I can't identify is the shading on the Save value. I'm wondering why the Save characteristic is green while nothing else on the stat wheel is colored?

The new warscrolls are brilliant. Improved clarity and readability. They're pleasant to look at. I honestly can't find a fault with this design--it's so good.
Some other notes:
-No monster degradation table, just a simple battle-damaged ability, awesome.
-I'm wondering if Wizard(9) means how many power dice you get to cast spells. Either that or how many spells you can cast (could we get a confirmation from those "in the know?")

Two of the main people in charge of AoS are big Ogor fans, namely Phil Kelly and Jes Bickham. I'm not sure who it is that makes these kinds of calls but I'm pretty sure Ogors are safe.
Part of me says: "They just got new Gorgers and terrain, of course they're safe."
The other part says: "We still have ****** resin wizards." -

Nothing has ever been safe. At what point, in which place has GW ever made a commitment to not cull armies and/or models? Every single release has a lifespan. And boy, both BoC and BS had a good run.
Warcry and Stormcast are a different story, but one that still makes sense. So yes, nothing is safe, and it's probably worth keeping in mind at all times, not just on days like today.
I'm an oldschool player, and you're absolutely right. This sort of behavior has been going on forever. But as someone mentioned, this process has only been getting quicker. Fewer years between cullings.
-
Now nothing is safe. If they're willing to kill 5 year old mainline models, or an entire faction with year-old models, anything could be gone in the blink of an eye. Every 3 years we'll be gritting our teeth and waiting for the worst.
But they'll take my Ogres over my dead body.- 1
