  1. Vallejo recently just redid their model color line similarly like they’ve redone their game colors. I ordered a couple to see how they turned out but the game colors became really great with the update.

Two Thin Coats is hard to get for me unfortunately, would‘ve liked to try them.

Kimera I‘ve yesterday tried at a friend‘s place when I helped him with a terrain piece - they‘re pretty epic but totally wrong for what he wanted in the piece (muted, drab colors), they‘re like the exact opposite to that. 😂👏 If you like vibrant colors and like mixing (both with each other and thinning), they might be a really solid pick!

  2. I'll be the unpopular one and say that while I don't want herohammer, I'd like to see that the power-level of a hero is not entirely dependent on said hero being a centerpiece. In AoS the strong heroes are usually large and on big bases, I adore the few exceptions like Gotrek or the Ironjawz warboss that are really tough despite being on smaller bases. I understand that we won't get Khorne champions that kill whole units back and it might be way better this way but I feel like most single heroes are there for their buffs, not because they themselves are a threat!

Edit: Oh and I'd really like some sort of customization. Make it a point sink, a very unwise one, but it's cool to cool to build your very own powerful character to me.

WHFB made GW great to leave room for 40k. Then 40k made GW great. It is our time. Soon AoS will make GW great to later die on behalf of BB?

Would be interesting to know numbers for AoS in regards to 40k's trajectory back when it became big. It's really difficult to say how much of a success AoS is but I get the feeling that it is very steadily growing and thankfully GW puts enough work/assets into it. I often read something akin to "I collect 40k but am interested into getting into AoS" on Reddit and other platforms. They often got no other players though but I figure it's gotta start somewhere, at least it shows that people are definitely intrigued by it!

Do we even know if there is going to be Cusdones in the show or what it will be about?

No idea, I feel like a show with lots of Custodes sounds like it would be a sitcom in the Emperor‘s palace as they‘re not exactly the kind of force that travels the galaxy… but perhaps they will feature heavily to make Cavill happy?

Maybe they go the Altered Carbon route with having an outsider like an Inquisitor come into the setting and that just happens to be somewhere where Custodes are present?

Wasn't he part of the initial W+ team but left because he was not in the same line with the GW team running it?

I read he got hired but don‘t know if he still works there or what he worked on. It wouldn‘t surprise me if he didn‘t get the appreciation he should be getting in the corpo world though. Seen that happen with lots of artists unfortunately.

Yes there's a rumour... coming out of a random 4chan post... Which ends with "my father works at Nintendo". It says a lot about the level of the debate really.

The past few days made me feel so happy that AoS, for all it's flaws, is not saddled with with the "boys club" lore.

Well, the Nintendo line is the guy obviously taking the ****** outta it. I just summarized what I‘ve seen on YT.

I think Fallout has been a decent adaption, I‘m not a huge Fallout fan bit played some of the games and that show gave me hope for 40k. The single one comment in all the debate that really annoyed me on Youtube was that Fallout‘s Brotherhood of Steel was the inspiration for GW. 😂

Hopefully Amazon learned a lot from the Fallout show. Never ever ever pick a very specific area/time/character and try to recreate it. Thats what all the other shows did and failed. 40k lore is so expansive they can do exactly the same thing as Fallout...just pick a random place, make a new story entirely with new characters.

My fear is, like so many shows before, they will focus on a well known established character and butcher it.

I feel like they should just ask the Astartes guy to pitch something. A single creator managed to pull off something really unique with tons of cool scenes/visuals.

Do you think the backlash would of been equal had they added men to sisters of battle?

Edit: Irrelevant I suppose and meant no offense. Just trying to have a discussion.

Would‘ve been just as dumb but it‘s pretty clear Sisters of Silence were the female equivalent (broadly speaking) to Custodes, so the Custodes move is all in all pretty damn dumb as well.

Main problem I see (and I personally don‘t care too much about Custodes, for me they‘re the flaming homosexuals from If The Emperor Had A Text-To-Speech-Device as that was just too funny, so that‘s my headcanon and I don‘t want any other) is that fans IMO really overreact cause people are sick of the whole woke thing and usually it doesn‘t stop at just one change which makes them fear that it won’t be adapted well and the pro-female-Custodes side not acknowledging that the preference for a Custodes boy‘s club is valid in some ways, because they were always portrayed that way and simply instead use the typical killer arguments that those who dislike the change are right-wingers, misogynistic or behind the times.

Youtube is a battlefield right now with a lot of the content creators hating on it and very few thinking it‘s good, it‘s definitely very negative for GW and Amazon.

There‘s also a rumor that Henry Cavill hates it so much he might drop out of the show as it reminds him of the whole Witcher fiasco but not sure if there is any truth to it. Apparently Amazon asked for female Custodes for the show.

I‘m here and just thinking that I‘m glad I got no real stakes in this and that the obvious solution would‘ve been one of the Sisters (Battle or Silence, although I’d prefer more Sisters of Silence stuff) but w/e. But it‘s best to not discuss it here further as you‘ve got two groups of people in the fandom and neither will get convinced by the other anyways. I just hope this won‘t have too much of a negative impact and will tell everyone that is working on adaptions to view the lore as sacred. While this particular issue doesn‘t bother me (I don‘t like it either however, I‘m just ambivalent mostly, I wouldn‘t want other aspects to get changed just to make it more appealing to the boring masses. I‘d be instantly out if the Imperium was a nice place for example or similar totally wrong stuff.

I‘d also be rotating in my chair if we got female Spees mahrines like this tho, not gonna lie! 🤣 They should‘ve introduced the idea through the lore, like with Primaris IMO.

Some could think this was for Chorfs, but as it is from the Advent Calendar it has to be resolved "soon". So I think a Skaven from the box or the follow up wave wouldn't be too crazy.

I gotta be honest with you; I think Skaven is a great (and at the moment the likeliest!) guess but these RE images are so often misleading that it could also be Nighthaunt, some WarCry warband, Hobgrots or anything/anyone else that got some dinged up equipment. Since I think all these options are less likely in the near future, logic dictates Skaven.

But watch me being wrong with my reasoning and it's for a new hero called Stinky Joe, a total loser Kharadron Overlord that uses oil-bombs and can't keep his equipment and personal hygiene in order.

Exactly. Damn well said. Slaanesh as lurking, malevolent, ever-watching, all-powerful threat, biding His time... it's awesome stuff. And a bit Lovecraftian, come to think of it.

So you just want it to become more like Tzeentch? 🤭 Can't say I disagree with that!

  11. Sometimes a little break is exactly what's best. Do things at your own pace.

I agree that 3rd ed kinda sucked, I'm having high hopes for 4th though but I understand the bad feeling you have going into that after losing Bonesplitterz and who knows what will happen with Spiderfang.

Terrain building/painting, painting something unrelated or enjoying other hobbies a bit more for some time are all decent options. I know nobody that doesn't take a bit time off of the hobby. I think that while it's fun, building an army is work in a way, it's not an "easy" hobby like playing video games or watching Netflix. If someone plays an instrument or paints in his spare time, they also sometimes neglect that hobby only to come back to it, there's always a certain thrive in people that pick artistic hobbies. Don't stress yourself, Warhammer has a habit of pulling people back in anyways, sometimes after 10+ years but they almost all return. 👌 From my personal experience I can just say that working on things where you don't have to challenge yourself too hard, like painting terrain pieces or simple units OR painting something you don't feel ready for yet like your favorite minis and then putting in even more work has worked for me personally.

GW reveals new Age of Sigmar Skaven clanrats, yes-yes!

I can't add anything to the discussion but damn are these handsome minis!

Talking about daemon releases, I wonder if we would see any new types of Daemons. As far as I can see, there have been very few new types of daemons released since the very start, 30+ years ago.

Realm of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness describes the servants of Khorne/Slaanesh:

The Bloodthirsters, Greater Daemons of Khorne.

The Bloodletters, Lesser Daemons of Khorne

    The Fleshhounds, Creatures of Khorne

    The Juggernauts, Steeds of Khorne

The Keepers of Secrets, Greater Daemons of Slaanesh

The Daemonettes, Lesser Daemons of Slaanesh

    The Fiends, Creatures of Slaanesh

The Mounts of Slaanesh, Steeds of Slaanesh

Realm of Chaos: The Lost and the Damned describes the servants of Nurgle/Tzeentch:

The Great Unclean Ones, Greater Daemons of Nurgle

    Plaguebearers, Lesser Daemons of Nurgle.

    Nurglings, Daemonic Servants of Nurgle

    Beasts, Creatures of Nurgle

The Lords of Change, Greater Daemons of Tzeentch

The Pink Horrors/Blue Horrors, Lesser Daemons of Tzeentch

    Flamers, Creatures of Tzeentch

    Discs, Steeds of Tzeentch

Outside of these, I can think of

    Screamers of Tzeentch (unmounted discs?)

    Brimstone Horrors of Tzeentch

Plague Toads (FW), creatures/steeds of Nurgle.

    Rot Fly, steeds of Nurgle.

    Furies - Unaligned

    Daemon Brutes (FW) - Unaligned?

I don‘t think a range extension for daemons is likely, they are pretty complete overall, especially because each God has to have basic troops and specialists so there is little room for more. Doesn‘t mean that there won‘t be anything new but I think that‘s more along the lines of a unit here or there.

The only way they would really introduce a bunch of kits would be by making more unaligned daemons and while we saw some of those in HH, I‘m not sure they gonna go in that direction on a bigger scale. Unaligned daemons would be the most „standard“ cookie cutter daemons and since GW wants to make their IP more unique than less unique, I doubt such a move. Perhaps the Malerion faction will get something daemon-like, they‘re said to lean into shadow-daemon/draconic themes. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I dont really agree, in WHFB there was already a power range of vampires. You had non-heroes like blood knights at the bottom, then thralls, then counts, then lords, dont see why you cant have the same thing here. I also personally strongly dislike the move of making special characters crowd out generic characters.

Adding to this, I don‘t like that the strongest chars are always the centerpiece minis. I know, it‘s cinematic but I like when a hero doesn‘t need to ride something in order to be a true menace. It really does the supposed power of some heroes a complete disservice. There are very few exceptions like the Warboss or some FEC hero but Chaos heroes feel too weak in general, can‘t speak for Vamps now but they used to be extremely strong back in WHFB as well. It‘s kinda like with grots being so deadly en masse that they make very short work of Chaos Warriors which does not represent those units well, in old WHFB 60 grots wouldn‘t have killed a unit of twenty CWs in a round or two.

I don‘t know a solution but I wish they could reflect the background better with their rules in some cases. Not something that ruins anything for me but it‘s sad that our heroes aren‘t really cool anymore. I don‘t want to field named chars! I want my own heroes/villains. 🤗

This is how the Era of Chaos started. Someone in a pretty nice City of Sigmar started talking about females in a distant future Marines army.

Sorry, guys! I don‘t feel bad for it, I got promoted to Daemon Prince for sowing discord among the Sigmarites! Now I‘ve got a sexy beak and a third arm to scratch my butt! 👌🏻

Partial OT:female custodes were never implied to be impossible save for a line about "taken fron nobility of terra Sons".

Custodes creation is not extremely detailed as SM so there was room for details and innovation.

But in the HH Sanguinius mention women and men clad in gold as bodyguard of his father(people thought about sisters of silence but they're not his bodyguard, they're the astra telephatica chamber militant).

It's different from introducing female sm (that need the geneseed of their primarch)...maybe the lazyness of the introduction about them is "bad" (but they did the same with primaris to some extent)but they were never mentioned as "impossible to have".

Ok, thanks for shedding some light on it. I don‘t know a lot about Custodes, only the blurbs from HH before they became their own force in 40k, I roll with Chaos after all. Anyways, if they aren‘t as set in stone as marines then this feels much less like a betrayal in regards to the established lore, which is good.

The FEC armyset lasted until the normal FEC release was available. So hopefully this one too.

I am still in doubt with the Darkoath armyset. The mini's are amazing. If they had released it a year ago. I would have bought it immediately, but now I will wait a bit. I want to see more of AoS 4th edition, before buying a box of 155 euro.

You are way too reasonable for this hobby, mate! 🤣

@MitGas They even adjusted the wiki to reflect their BS.

While I don‘t have a problem with it per se, I just don‘t understand it - we got Sisters of Battle and Sisters of Silence (who are just as cool as Custodes imo), so why change firmly established lore? But thankfully I don‘t really care - I think GW will have a huge backlash if they add women to Space Marines retroactively. They could add them just like they added Primaris. I don‘t want really need or want female Spees Marines, we got Sisters (will we get Brothers of Battle too?) but why not make it in a way that doesn‘t change the IP‘s history? I think it‘s very unfair to say Warhammer doesn‘t have enough cool female forces/options, so I don‘t get it. We got badass female-only stuff, lots of mixed forces like Eldar, then we got one of everything with Slaanesh, so why chose this approach? So my wish is to integrate it well, precisely what GW isn‘t doing. 😂

That’d be nice if the shared reason the Iron Golems(which also has a Chuardin in it) & Hashut warbands are going away is because neo-Man Eaters units & Chaos Duardin are in the cards for AoS4(and will flesh out those units/warbands anyway)

    image.jpeg.5eb9cef118ab74def39da303bf964190.jpeg

The design of the iron golems wouldn‘t be too bad for chaos dwarfs either I think… the ones in armor, obviously not the ones with tall hats (I want at least one with a tall hat!).

In other news, the whole Custodes thing is really generating a huge backlash now that GW said there always were female Custodes, even the large streamers like Asmongold (is that how you spell it?) talk about it. I know, I know, a bit off-topic here but still an interesting topic. You can find the poopstorm on YT if you care!

I am sorry. I have been defending Bonesplitterz for years and GW just smashed that belief with a chainsword.

Yeah, that’s fair, I get that. I’d be super pissed if I collected one of those factions and frankly it’s a crappy move to put it nicely. But hasn‘t much to do with the rules previews per se, which seem decent so far.

GW screwed up by turning part of factions into their own factions at first and keeping others around when they didn‘t have the will to support them long-term. I just think they had to cause else the nuking of WHFB would‘ve been even worse.

Slightly off topic but thousand sons seemed to me one of the more interesting indexes in terms of flavour and army rules.

For me they certainly always have been but after the wonderful time of the extremely broken Chaos codex, they were extremely underpowered for ages in the next codex. That was the time when I played 40k the most. I didn‘t care, I‘m not into Warhammer for winning my games (doesn‘t hurt tho), I enjoy losing as well, but it was certainly strange to suddenly field a really good army that often competed for the top spot with AoS‘s DoT! 😂

Going back to 40k is hard though now… the AoS rules are simply more fun to me. Still hoping that Teamkill will become better so that I can scratch that itch as well.
