  1. Ah, shame about the General aspect. Regardless, thank you for the answer.
  2. So, the various Cities of Sigmar can take units from other factions. e.g. Living City can have 1/4 of their units from Sylvaneth, Har Kuron can take 1/4 units as Daughters of Khaine, etc. Sorry if this is a silly question but can give these units CoS artefacts? Or would they have to have artefacts from their own book? Also, can I use one as my General? e.g. could I take a DoK Slaughter Queen in Har Kuron and make her my General? If so, would she get a CoS Command Trait or a DoK Command Trait? Lastly, am I right in thinking that these units get the CoS bonuses but not any bonuses from their own book? So the aforementioned Slaughter Queen wouldn't get an extra prayer or anything like that. Apologies in advance if these are stupid questions of if they've been asked before. I couldn't see them but it's entirely possible that I'm just being thick. :P
  3. Probably. Unfortunately, I don't own that many zombies so I'm just trying to use what I have.
  4. What about something like this: Legion of Sacrament Vampire Lord w/ Wings, Chalice of Blood, Vile Transference (General) - Bound to the Master - Shroud of Darkness Vampire Lord w/ Wings, Chalice of Blood, Soulpike Vampire Lord w/ Wings, Chalice of Blood, Spirit Gale Necromancer w/ Decrepify 5 Dire Wolves 40 Skeletons w/ Ancient Blade, Hornblower, Standard Bearer 40 Skeletons w/ Ancient Blade, Hornblower, Standard Bearer 2 Bat Swarms Corpse Cart w/ Unholy Lodestone 30 Grave Guard w/ Great Wight Blade, Hornblower, Standard Bearer Terrorgheist 2000pts
  5. That's true, though the Ghoul King on Terrorgheist can also summon Horrors or Flayers and the on-foot King can summon Ghouls (albeit not as many). In any case, what would you say was more useful then - always having a Varghulf or having a foot Ghoul King?
  6. That's a shame as I own quite a few of them. Are Infernals regarded as superior? Also, something I just realised - would I be better off swapping out the Varghulf for a Ghoul King, given that the Archregent can just summon a Varghulf?
  7. I haven't played Ghouls since 8th edition WHFB. Can I ask how this list looks? Courts of Delusion - Feast Day Abhorrent Archregent (General) - Blood Feast - Dark Wizardry - The Dermal Robe Abhorrent Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist - Deranged Transformation - Gruesome Bite Varghulf Courier Crypt Haunter Courtier Crypt Ghast Courtier 40 Ghouls 10 Ghouls 10 Ghouls 9 Crypt Horrors Endless Spell - Chalice of Ushoran 2000pts on the nose Also, am I right in thinking I can have 1 Artefact and one Mount Trait?
  8. Ah, I see. Oh well, maybe I'll come back if there's ever an AoS v3. Thanks for the reply.
  9. If you don't mind me asking, what is it that makes the Necromancer so much less vulnerable? I get that he can pass wounds onto nearby units on a 4+, but he's only got a 6+ save against the wounds that get through and no way of healing himself. A Vampire Lord has a 4+ save and can potentially heal from 1 wound back to full with his Blood Chalice (plus stuff like Vile Transference).
  10. I've never been a fan of special characters, nor of using huge, centrepiece models as my general (plus I've spent ages modelling/painting unmounted Vampires). Hence, I'm curious as to how practical it would be to have a (non-mounted) Vampire Lord as my general. Is this reasonable or will he just end up sniped to death in a heartbeat? (I ask because near enough every list I've seen here uses either a VLoZD or one of the special characters as its General) Also, would any particular Legion work best for this? I was going to ask about Legion of Sacrament (for Wristbands of Black Gold or the Shroud of Darkness), but since the discussion thread for that Legion has apparently died, I'll go ahead and assume that it's no longer viable even wit a more competitive general. if it matters, I'm ideally looking to play something akin to the old VC armies (with hordes of skeletons and maybe Grave Guard), but I'll listen to other options. Thanks for reading.

Nevermind. Would a Mod kindly delete this thread?
  12. I don't know if this is a silly question but is it ever worthwhile to have Druid of the Everspring Circle on, say, a Nomad Prince? I ask because it seems a little sad that the hero of one of the main archer subfactions apparently hasn't figured out how bows work. At least with Cage of Thorns he'd have a sort of pseudo-ranged attack.
  13. Oh, I see. I thought the Whitefire Retinue actually made the wizards Hallowheart itself, rather than requiring them. Oh well, thanks for the answer and explanation.
  14. I'm very confused as to how Battalions work with regard to City Allegiance. Could I, for example, have a Living City army but then also include a Whitefire Retinue (which is 3-6 Hallowheart Wizards)? If so, do the Hallowheart wizards from the Battalion become Living City in addition to Hallowheart (as per the Allegiance rules), or are they Living City instead of Hallowheart? And if I'm not allowed to include the Whitefire Retinue in a non-Hallowheart army, could someone point to the precise rule that specifies this? I've looked at the rules for Allegiances, for Battalions, for Point Costs and Detachment effects, and on the Battalion itself and none of them mention it. So if nothing else it would be useful to know where I need to look in future.
  15. Ah, okay. I thought that was how it worked but then I saw a post that seemed to imply the opposite. One more question - are the Aqshy artefacts always allowed or are they contingent on both players agreeing to a particular campaign or something?
  16. Let's say I want to make a Cities of Sigmar list using Anvilguard. Am I able to choose one of the generic Order Artefacts/Command Traits in place of the Anvilguard ones, or is that only allowed if I have a generic Order army?
  17. So FEC actually works okay with just a foot Ghoul King?
  18. So, I'll admit that the splitting up of Vampire Counts has left me at a bit of a loss. I own quite a bit of Ghoul stuff, but it was intended to work with my skeletons and vampires - not on its own. Anyway, I'm wondering if I have enough Ghoul stuff for a viable Flesh Eater Courts army. Currently I own: - 1 Ghoul King (converted to have wings) - 1 Varghulf - 9 Crypt Horrors - ~50 Ghouls - 1 Terrorgheist Can I make a decent army out of that?
  19. 'Easier to block' is irrelevant because AoS uses the godawful TloS system whereby if an opponent can see even a square nanometer of a vampire's cloak, then every bow and piece of artillery can shoot at him with basically no penalty. Get the Vlad von Carsten model (just a normal Vampire Lord now, but still) and place him behind, say, 40 Grave in tight formation. You try getting it such that no part of him, his sword or his elaborate cloak can be seen. Also, given that Vampires don't have ranged weapons, ignoring LoS over forests in return for the enemy being able to freely shoot you back is an absolutely terrible trade-off. And that's before we get into the fact that Vampires are fragile but highly important support pieces. Sorry but this isn't a double-edged sword, it's a crossbow that only works when you're pointing it up your own nose.
  20. Surely he'd already be on foot? He'd just have a pair of wings or something. But, yeah, this is looking to be the pattern for AoS. Would you like a fun/flavourful option or a good option, because the two are mutually exclusive?
  21. I guess vampires, in addition to now suffering from brittle bone disease, are also too stupid to use a forest as cover. Wonderful. I have to say, my enthusiasm for AoS is already starting to wane.
  22. So if I give my Vampire Flying Horror, he's completely screwed as a result?
  23. @Honk Thanks a lot for your feedback and advice. I'll have the flying Vampire stick next to his Terrorgheist buddy as you suggest, and push the rest of my army towards the objectives. I'll admit that I find my heroes' stats concerning. Can they not hide behind other units like they can in Warmachine or 40k? It seems a bit demeaning that Vampire Lords are reduced to cowering behind trees. Did they all just forget how armour works? ? Also, is The Hunger on Vampires just a trap ability? It seems like they'll take far more damage from being in combat than the measly 1 wound they'll heal with it.
