  1. I just played a 1000pts campaign game and was easily beaten by Sylvaneth. Does anyone have a good 1000pts list to suggest? I had a hard time dealing with those teleporting hammer trees that has 5 wounds each and can go down to 2+ save with Mystic Shield. The fact that they can strike and fade from combat before I get to swing is bonkers. My list was: Legion of Blood Grand Strategy: Lust for Domination Core Battalion: Warlord (1 extra artefact) Triumph: Inspired Wight King on Skeletal Steed general - Cloak of Mists and Shadows, Command Trait: Doomed Minions, Warlord Vampire Lord - Warlord, spell: Spirit Gale, Aspect of the champion: Tunnel Master Necromancer – Warlord, relic: Amulet of Screams, spell: Waste Away 10 Black Knights, Standard bearer, musician. Warlord. 20 Skeletons, standard bearer. Warlord. 5 Blood Knights, standard bearer 1000pts We played on a full scale table which felt like a mistake, big advantage to teleporting armies at 1000pts.
  2. What was weird to me was the Corpse Cart. Why was it in the list with no Zombies? Just to buff Spirit Gale?
  3. Question about Torgillius 5+ ward save aura, shouldn't it stack with the Ulfenkarni Phylactery to a 4+ ward save?
  4. Noob question. I played my first AoS game last week, forgot a lot of rules, Skeletal Legion among them. There seems to be no cap on this ability (that awkwardly happens at the start of the combat phase), so you can continue to roll for slain models even if the whole unit is killed? There's nothing in the wording that specifies the unit must have at least one model left, but I guess you could argue then there's no unit to return models to.
  5. Yeah as it stands currently Blood Knights lost a lot of flexibility and movement with the loss of move out of combats and charge something (like some other unit to grab an objective) in the same turn. Riders of Ruin makes up for it somewhat as they at least are more lethal now against a single target.
  6. Also, Blood Knights can Riders of Ruin an enemy unit, how many times in a turn? Once in normal move, again on the charge. And once more, if they can pile in over enemy models?
  7. timestamp 17:45 seems others think that it should be FAQd.
  8. No. The only restriction of 'once per phase' is regarding the target of the effect, i.e. 3 summonable units within 12" from a certain Hero. There's nothing that says you cannot do it again in the same phase from another hero triggerpoint, targeting different units. The precedence was that each hero could trigger this. Now the wording has changed but it's unclear. Looks like this too needs a FAQ.
  9. Sorry for being unclear, I meant to ask whether you could trigger it more than once (not asking about the effects). As I understand it, previously each hero that could use the trait could trigger it and it was FAQ'd. Now you say it's down to a single trigging per turn?
  10. Bought the tome yesterday. About Deadly Invocation - is that once per hero phase, OR once per Hero in the hero phase?
  11. Typo? You meant Cloak of Mists and Shadows?
  12. Thank you. How do you make your army lists - battlescribe, pen&paper, something else? I'm mucking about in battlecribe, Grand Strategy: Empire of Corpses doesn't show as an option.
  13. Yeah any pointers to obviously good units now? I just opened a FEC box and considering whether to build a VLoZD or a Terrorgheist, Crypt Flayers or Crypt Horrors? I have loads of skellies, zombies, dire wolves, Varghulfs, Grave Guards, heroes. I just need a netlist to copy and field and start to learn the game.
  14. Hello fellow suckers. Is this the biggest AoS Death forum on the western hemisphere? I'm considering entering AoS and dusting off my trusted Vampire Counts, but I can't say the reviews for the new Soulblight battletome has me hyped. I'm more of a competitive player, and from what I gather the new tome is an overall nerf. Is it too early to destillate a competitive build?
  15. Ah, 'Dreadknight' gives rerolls to hit, I missed that for some reason. Dreadknight + Endless Legions seems to be available to all allegiances except Soulblight and Death.
  16. Excuse a newcomer, but what is CA? Command Ability is Endless Legions, I assume that is not what you meant.
  17. Here's the current meta https://thehonestwargamer.com/31st-january-2020-stats/ Yay Nighthaunt
  18. This list looks fun and I assume it's pretty powerful (recently won a GT); Realm: Shyish Grand Court: Gristlegore General Abhorrant Ghoul King on Terrorgheist 420PT Artifact: Ethereal Amulet Command Trait: Savage Strike Mount Trait: Gruesome Bite SPELL - Blood Feast Hero Abhorrant Archregent 240PT Artifact: Ghurish Mawshard Spell Spectral Host Hero Abhorrant Ghoul King 160PT Spell Spectral Host Battleline (3) Terrorgheist 900PT Battalions Royal Menagerie 120PT Endless Spells Cogs 80 PT Chalice of Ushoran 50PT Swords 30PT Btw, formatting on this forum is kind of terrible, seems there's no way to remove distance between lines of text.
  19. I'm glad I read up on Nighthaunt before investing. A shame on awesome models, it seems.
  20. Yes I know it's limited to 1CP, but I don't understand your comment about "so you going 1900 and battalion is not possible anymore."
  21. I don't follow. I would have 100pts to buy a CP, sounds like no problem. Btw, in the second list I would only take the Chalice and increase one Ghoul unit to 20 models, which would put me at 1950pts so I would afford a CP to make it exactly 2000pts. Btw, what's the difference between Realm of Origin and Realm of Battle? Seems you can pick different realms in Battlescribe. Battletome doesn't say anything about it. Source? And what about Mount Traits - the battletome don't mention anything of the sort. Source? I can only find them in Battlescribe. EDIT - seems there's a new Battletome in town, Flesheater Courts 2019. I assume the mount traits are from there? Furthermore, Zombie Dragons can take for instance the Razor-clawed mount trait. But it only affects the mount's attacks, then again there's only a single warscroll profile. Am I supposed to know which attacks are mount attacks, and which attacks are from the rider? The battletome mention 'King's Gory Talons' which I suppose are the vampire rider. Does he get the mount bonus to his attacks? Seeing how they share the same warscroll. About that first list I posted, why would the dude take the same spell on all 4 characters? In AoS I assume it's like in 40K and old Fantasy, that you can only cast the same spell once per turn?
  22. Yeah the Zombie Dragon aggressive spell is a nice tool. It's weird how AoS spells and command abilities are set, that you're forced to have a certain spell/CA just because you have a certain mount. It would be better to have the option of Malefic Hunger and summon a Varghulf on a Terrorgheist rider, the Zombie Dragon looks more like a tax you pay to get the abilities. The second list can summon 2 Varghulfs, 10 Ghouls and 2x3 Crypt Horrors. Or Flayers. In this list, would Horrors or Flayers usually be better against most armies, or does it depend completely on the matchup? Asking because I want to know what to assemble.
  23. Then what is possible? Btw, what's the point of a Zombie Dragon mount, it's more expensive than a Terrorgheist but looks slightly worse in combat. Is a Varghulf better than 3 Crypt Horrors/Flayers?
  24. I'm a total noob at AoS, only played a single introduction game, like a year ago, but my goal is to have an fieldable army soon. I'm looking to speed it up by starting with a really low model count army, as an old Strigoi veteran it sounded like Gristlegore would be great. Found this old (April 2019) tournament winner: Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist, command trait Savage Strike, artefact Ghurhish Mawshard, mount Gruesome Bite, Lore of Madness Spectral Host Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist, Lore of Madness: Spectral Host Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Zombie Dragon, Lore of Madness: Spectral Host Abhorrant Archregent, Lore of Madness: Spectral Host 10 x Crypt Ghouls 10 x Crypt Ghouls 10 x Crypt Ghouls Endless Spells Chronomantic Cogs So is this list still competitive? How would you play it? Are you supposed to summon units with the heroes, like 2x3 Crypt Horrors and 2 Varghulfs? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This list grabbed 2nd place in a GT around the same time Allegiance: Flesh Eater Courts Grand Court: Gristlegore Mortal Realm: Ulgu Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist, General, Trait: Savage Strike, Artefact: Ghurish Mawshard, Lore of Madness: Blood Feast, Mount Trait: Gruesome Bite Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Zombie Dragon, Artefact: Doppelganger Cloak, Lore of Madness: Spectral Host, Mount Trait: Razor-clawed Abhorrant Archregent, Lore of Madness: Monstrous Vigour Abhorrant Ghoul King, Lore of Madness: Deranged Transformation Crypt Ghast Courtier Battleline 10 x Crypt Ghouls 10 x Crypt Ghouls 10 x Crypt Ghouls Battalions Ghoul Patrol Endless Spells Cadaverous Barricade (30) Chalice of Ushoran (40) Corpsemare Stampede (60) Extra Command Points: 4 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Which list is better in your opinion?
  25. Alex Gonzalez seems to be the highest ranked Death player currently, looks like he favours Nighthaunt. I think this is his LVO list: Nighthaunt Mortal Realm: Ghur Knight of Shrouds on Ethereal Steed - General - Trait: Ruler of the Spirit Hosts - Artefact: Midnight Tome Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern - Lore of the Underworlds: Shademist - Infernal Lantern (Artefact): Beacon of Nagashizzar Spirit Torment - Artefact: Gryph-feather Charm Reikenor the Grimhailer 20 x Chainrasp Horde 20 x Chainrasp Horde 10 x Grimghast Reapers 10 x Bladegheist Revenants 10 x Bladegheist Revenants 2 x Chainghasts Black Coach Chainguard Shroudguard Total: 1990 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 2 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 109
