  1. Look at the state of that. Considering it was the only realm not to get ROFLstomped by Chaos, Azyr must have ******-poor building regs.
  2. I was literally about to post this. Whoever is responsible for these new/recent Rogue Trader models needs to be locked in a room and not let out until they've created a whole new look for Freeguild/ordinary AOS humans. I'm not sure my wallet could possibly be emptied quicker.
  3. Did a lot of damage my last couple of games with 'Sadistic Strike' (upgrade on Varclav) and 'Strangling Coil' (upgrade on the Ever Hanged). Basic rasps surrounded and did a bit of damage but then at the end these two swooped in and wiped out the remains.
  4. Going by the video they changed a plastic dinosaur’s rend from -2 to -1 and then at some point back to -2. Thank god for citizen journalists and YouTube eh?
  5. I have a horrible feeling you’ll be disappointed. I’m guessing there will be one new ‘chamber’ opened each year or so, tied to whatever ‘bad’ faction is getting some shine that season. So Sacrosanct faced off against Nighthaunt. And the Ruination, Covenant and Logister Chambers will each have a corresponding nemesis that prompted their chamber’s opening (GW shareholders notwithstanding as the ultimate big bads here). id guess one of these will be designed as a specific anti-daemon style chapter and maybe tie into a big chaos release. Has there been any fluff at all about the unopened chambers yet?
  6. Relating to the speculation of which factions will be playable in the 'Anvalor' boardgame... looks like that despite the artwork the pink snake was, reasonably, Order Serpentis not Scourge Privateers... "There are nine playable factions to choose from, ranging from famous Aqshian rivals, the Hammers of Sigmar and the Khornate legions of Khorgos Khul, to the Vorstarg Fyreslayer Lodge and even the Order Serpentis. We’ll be bringing you more information on this game in the future, so keep your eyes peeled." https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/10/26/26th-oct-revealed-at-spielgw-homepage-post-1/
  7. more I think about it the more I suspect the Khorne v Slaanesh box could possibly be a boxset that comes with a standalone game much like Speed Freaks, Imperial Knights: Renegade etc etc. Just some quick fun, flimsy basic rules outlining some kind of event in the realm of chaos, just to offer something to people that aren't building the appropriate armies up. No real follow up or support after that except maybe a Nurgle v. Tzeentch expansion/standalone box to follow. 1st one out this year to hit the 30th anniversary of the original RoC:StD book, with the 2nd on the 30th anniversary of the RoC:LatD book.
  8. thanks everyone. such a crazy little band of monsters, can't wait to get them in action. Sourtongue just seems like tonnes of fun, honestly I think I'd be laughing so much I wouldn't even be mad if he spun off and wiped out half my own grots.
  9. Slightly random Q for this mob, but has anyone else had problems getting the squid herder's head attached tightly? There seems to be a gap, not hugely noticeable, when it's in but enough to annoy me and I cant tell if it's meant to be like that or I need to shave down the bit that attached him, or just cut it off and glue him instead.
  10. everyone loves pirates! just look at how many people are thirsty for a vampire/undead fleet too. just a shame that as it stands AoS isn't a great game to do those kind of factions proper justice. but you never know I'm holding out for GW, or a third party, to get back into the naval battle game. Scourge Privateers vs. Idoneth Deepkin (on giant crabs and kraken) vs. a Nurgle fleet (with pods of plague whale & giant hagfish) vs. a Vampire/Wraith fleet vs. Clan Skurvy Skaven pirats vs. the Ironweld Admirality vs. Kaptin Greenbeard & his barnacle encrusted orruks.
  11. yeah that's true, only thing is all the other symbols are in the order of the artwork. the other site confirms 6 'good' factions' and 3 'bad' and we definitely have Khorne, Skaven and Orruks depicted. ah well just have to wait and see I guess.
  12. FYI just found a little bit more information on another site using, I guess, official sales notes... "Get ready for a new kind of Warhammer Age of Sigmar excitement. In The Rise & Fall of Anvalor your official task is to help build and defend Anvalor together with the other Factions. However, your real goal is to gather the most Influence and secure dominance over Anvalor, even if it might ultimately cause the fall of the city. Gather the most Influence for your Faction by building City Buildings and defeating enemies during vicious assaults. At the end of the game, the player who has the most Influence over the city reigns supreme, and secures their dominance over The Great Parch! With over 180 tiles in total, 9 different factions (6 player factions, 3 enemy factions), and 4 play variants (beyond the standard game) there's an enormous amount of game play content! In the region of Aqshy, even if your uneasy allies place their resources in the perfect place, your mutual enemies can be strong and unpredictable. You'll build resources to block your allies from developing their strongest options, and they'll return the favor. They'll weaken enemies and you'll try to deliver the killing blow. Each turn will provide many choices, so you'll get to pivot as you learn the strategies best suited to your common enemy as well as your allies. One thing's for certain - whether Anvalor survives the siege on it or not, things are sure to get heated!" https://www.southernhobby.com/warhammer-age-of-sigmar-the-rise-fall-anvalor/p32356/
  13. "Designed by Rustan Hakansson, who has design credits on Nations and Dungeon Rush, The Rise and Fall of Anvalor has players helping to build and defend the city with other factions, at least officially. Each player’s real goal is to gather the most influence in Anvalor and dominate the city, even if it means its ultimate fall. Players build city buildings to gather influence, and defeat enemies during attacks. The player with the most influence at the end of the game wins." Anyone here played Nations or Dungeon Rush? Wondering if they would give any hint to the gameplay etc etc.
  14. the artwork they've used for the faction on the far-right is of old Black Ark Corsairs, so got to be Scourge Privateers, surely. plus Slaanesh has their own sigil, and they've used the proper Khornate rune for his murder boys.
  15. its been bugging me all day who this stunningly designed, several hundred quid, army destroying champion of the blood god reminded me of... and it just hit me, it's Sloth from The Goonies on steroids! Tempted to buy now just so I can convert an old halfling model into Chunk and have him sat next to him.
  16. ah yes... https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/07/04/oh-the-horror/ Seems like they will be reprinting all of Kim Newman's 'Vampire Genevieve' novels, of which Drachenfels was the first. Really, really recommend picking them up when they do come out.
  17. @Overread I think they were pre-black library when it was just GW Books, though I don't think that would stop them in terms of copyright. Honestly from what I can remember of them I have a sneaking suspicion the Orfeo books at least don't quite 100% gel with the mid 90s onwards officially sanctioned view of the Warhammer world. Not that there's anything totally heretical about them, but from the little bits I've read of Black Library books I get the feeling they have a different flavour from what came after. Saying that I actually think I read that Drachenfels is getting a reprinting as part of their new line of Horror fiction. If they do hopefully it will be in its original unexpurgated form (some of the pre-BL books had things like sex scenes that I believe were bowdlerized in later editions and in some areas they clash with accepted 'canon'). Really worth reading if it is, I think most people who have rate it as one of the best GW based books published.
  18. no love for the Orfeo books (Zaragoz, Plague Daemon, Storm Warriors) or the likes of Drachenfels? been a long, long, long time since I read them but I remember they stood up to what I'd snootily term proper genre fiction, certainly the Orfeo ones treated chaos in a fairly interesting and nuanced way, Drachenfels was a bit more hammer horror but clearly intended to call back to classic gothic horror with some high camp thrown in, so Newman hit the mark there. actually are any of these still in print at all, or consigned to the GW equivalent of the Index Librorum Prohibitorum?
  19. I may be wrong but we havent actually seen the Sylvaneth central character from below the shoulders have we? so she could still be mainly wood and people are... barking up the wrong tree (badum-tish!). Saying that I reckon she'll be some new offspring/cutting of Alarielle, so more humanoid but still with some foliage going on, maybe leaf clothes or something like that. or she's just taking a breather, I can think of plenty of gigs and events I've been too where I'd have loved to have had a sit down if i'd been able to refashion my branches into a handy stool. it would be cool if they had a large bug model though, could be a great path to explore for new Sylvaneth models, battle beetles and the like.
  20. Slaanesh and harps do have some history, if anyone else is old enough to have read and can still remember 'Storm Warriors'.
  21. not sure about that but they just announced there will be one at Blood & Glory "What’s more, we can confirm that Blood & Glory this year will play host to another exciting Studio Preview – replete with exclusive reveals of just what’s to come for Warhammer in the next few months."
  22. true, though if you played the positioning well, had the HWs charge up 1 flank, the unit spaced out as much as possible, with your commander on the other side even a unit of 5 could cut a swathe across the board and affect most the opposing units. though yeah, even then it wouldn't exactly be talking too many models off the board.
  23. Personally I read that as they dematerialise, ****** off to spook space, then re-materialise in the new location. Would be a nice trick if you could drag them across the whole table dishing out wounds but I think it's pushing it.
