  1. Hey guys, I would appreciate any comments, thoughts and constructive criticism in the ''core'' of my list below, I have good results so far(9 wins-1 loss from LoN), I just want some opinions/thoughts on the matter of unit selection or anything else. LCoSD Castellant Incantor Incantor 5xJudicators 5xJudicators 5xLiberators Comet That clocks at 1460. For the leftover pts(540) I was thinking the following options; a) LAoT 2xBallistas b) LAoT 5xEvocators c) 10xEvocators swap Libi's for another Judi unit Cogs and 20pts triumph d) - your option :) First version of the list was with 4xFulminators, and second was with Prime+Relictor. While it performed good, it was something that I didn't like/felt wrong. Someone in another thread stated that ''units win games'' - well, that's something very debatable for me, for my pov and for my playing group. GUO + Rotigus win games, LoC+Kairos win games, Allariele + Ancient win games, and some other examples - but I believe you get my point. Now, maybe this is not the thing with SC, OR maybe this is not the thing anymore for the others. And mind me, I don't want to create a list such as this(double Behemoth char and go), is just that I don't want to hop on the train of ''20xSequitors + 10xEvocators + Gavriel = win''. Things have changed in this ''Alpha Strike meta edition'' as it seems, I'm just not sure yet if the answer to everything is more bodies/wounds and alpha-strike to death. I would really appreciate to see any of your comments and thoughts in the core/options of my list and anything else.
  2. Hey guys, quick question here : Is Stardrake's Rain of Stars/Roiling Thunderhead considered an attack ?? I have a strong feeling that it doesn't. ''Attacking'' section in Core Rules mention melee and missile weapons and said ability is neither. Question came because my gaming group insist on playing with Realm rules(imo they are fully unbalanced but anyway), and the are a couple of ''results'' in Realm of Shadow table that completely nerf my army/plan/tactics. Whatever holds true for my question, it's also true for many other ''effects'' of our Heroes - Prime's Sceptre, Heraldor's Thunderblast, Relictor's Lightning Storm, etc. Your call..?
  3. Hey, Having played more games with our new Battletome, and as far as the edition goes, I feel that I settled in a couple of things: A) The primary weakness of army - expensive and low model count- didn't change a bit , nor it will ever be, which is ok for my tastes. BUT, some things should have underwent in a more thorough consideration when DT decided to (re)introduce free summoning for a bunch of armies in the game. Armies that don't have access in summoning, fight an uphill battle right from the start. We had to grind our way through hordes/horde-like units, then use positioning/teleportation tech to grab objectives. And it was ok, ''cause required tactic, quick-thinking and cleverness. As of now, I just don't see the point of doing all of this - just to have the other guy spawning the same 40Skellies blob AGAIN / having Sera pouring more bubble-wrapping Skinks in the obj (or maybe Bastiladons-for serious business ) / having DoT dominate games once again now with free summoning AND the classic 9+ spells per turn(now with Umbral SpellPortal the games are faster than with Changehost :P) / having Nurgle now bigger and better with free summoning -- a few examples. Now, i'm not ''crying'' for SCE,nor the new book, i'm just curious if the prospect of facing a high model count army with access to free summoning , with a low model count army with no summoning ofc, was given at least a typical ''balance-scaling'' afterthought / playtesting . In a non-theoretically level. B) After playtesting some things and combos, I can say that I will stay away from the wizard ''thingy'' in our book. The decision was taken because it's a matter of ''resources'' in my books. We SC, don't have solid, staple, ''native'' wizards. GUO's , LoC's VLoZD's and a few others , will always be staple because are THAT decent models. For us, every hero in our book is a strong contender with 4-5 others. All of the pre-mentioned staples are ofc WIZARDS. And no, LAoT is but a small shadow of all these. As of now , I will just stick with my old list - LCoSD, Castellant, Relictor, triple Judi's , triple Fulmi's. I will just have an actual allegiance ability now ,to do some tricks.
  4. Hey there, Stormhosts don't cost points. If you choose one of the Stormhosts though, your General MUST have the Command Trait described in that Stormhost and the first artifact you pick for your army MUST be the one mentioned in that Stormhost also. You still have all the other artifacts available to take, but only if you include a battalion in your list-thus having access in a second artifact. Hope this sums it up
  5. I guess the choice is related to what the rest of the list looks like a) and b) They have entirely different roles, at least in my books. LAoT is a more of ''all around-er'' model- he's a caster, buffs shooters in your army if fly overs something, and he can hunt small units/enemy 5wound heroes. Preferably isolated ones. He can tank in a bit,but only with Mystic Shield up. LCoSD is our tried, tested, and reliable Behemoth/Hero. I have face-tank countless 40man Skeletons, 30man Vulkites, Skaven hordes - to name a few. And wiped them out eventually. Stardrake also, has the famous ability(shooting) of putting pressure in 5wound enemy Heroes on the board-no range, no line of sight, no questions asked. All that being said, there is a good pts difference there. They are not ''identical'' pieces, in any way. The ''seem'' identical, they aren't. But hey, why don't you try both in a list..?? Huge pts investment , but you gonna have your own conclusions.
  6. Ye, I can see how this coming from ..But still, why THIS one states ''ENEMY' units while 19 others don't...?
  7. Hey guys, a quick observation here: Out of the 20 endless spells released so far (14 in MS, 3 ours , 3 Nighthaunt) , Celestian Vortex is the only one that in it's ability description reads ''pick 1 ENEMY unit'' . All others refer to ''units'' / ''unit'' . That means that it can't backfire back to us ..? Even if endless spells treated as friendly models by both players, and even if the opposing player gets to move Celestian Vortex in some point during the game, the Celestian Vortex is a model that a purchased in my army/list-thus being part of my list, and the opposing player's units are still enemy units for my models/army. I want to believe that wording was intentional. Its not huge , but it's still something. P.S. The other ability (passive aura in 6'') of course, affect ALL units, it's clear. Thoughts..?
  8. Hi all, long post following Having get a closer look in our new book, and given the ''minor'' changes in a lot of our old warscrolls, I must admit that I have mixed feelings. We all expected Sacrosanct models to be good, but ''micro-nerfs'' to a good number of our old units just seems frustrating-at best. Some examples: a) Paladins did nothing to deserve a nerf to Starsoul Mace,-even a minor-one , but nerf nonetheless. b) I don't believe Celestant (on foot) was so OP in order to warrant a nerf in his CA - must be within 3'' of enemy, as of now. c)Fulmi's shooting.. Ok, I can see the hate from other armies/players toward Fulminators, but to be honest, it was maybe our only reliable melee hard hitter unit. And it wasn't a cheap-one. Yes, their Dracoth's Blast was powerful, but replacing it with the mediocre-one and NOT reducing their pts ...well, seems kinda odd. d) Enjoying the new CA of Ordinator..?? For I know that i'm not. I mean, the model didn't even have a chance to be fielded with his previous command... and replacing it with not even a relevant-one (to his previous). All this and a few others, are the reasons that i'm not THAT satisfied with our new book. ''It could be worse'' someone said, yeah, well, I guess I must be thankful for getting a proper allegiance ability to begin with.. That, and not changing LCoSD warscroll.. As far as list-building goes with the new book, and having a couple of games with new edition(endless spells and free summoning inc), I can't justify any SC non-character unit anymore-with a really few exceptions, barring Battlelines of course. I will focus on character assassination builds, after all, there are a lot of armies out there that rely heavily on hero support. Also , the prospect of playing vs LoN-the army that benefited the MOST from the edition/endless spells/free summon imo, is disheartening at best as of now. So, a first draught for the next couple of months will be something like, : *HEROES* LCoSD Prime Castellant Relictor 2x Incantor *UNITS* 5x Judicators 5x Judicators 5x Judicators *ENDLESS SPELLS* Everblaze Comet Celestian Vortex Not entirely sold on the second Incantor, neither Vortex, I just want to give it a try. Possible candidates are either Heraldor or Venator. I will not include Malign Sorcery Endless despite the fact that I have the set, 'cause I find them borderline overpowered and in need of serious pt increase (if not nerf-hammering). The one and only time that a fielded Cogs and Geminids ,well, they gave me the game vs Pestillens/Skryre. I can't say anything about Cogs(it's a true Azyr spell after all ),but Geminids are really unbalanced ,both for their effect and their pt. My take anyway. Feel free to comment anything, Cheers
