  1. A model from Zarbag's Gitz as a test for the colour scheme.
  2. My only complaint is that they're not putting the models on "last chance to buy", it wouldn't have been hard to admit that the Gitmob was going away when the Gloomspite were annouced, and it'd have improved sales of the old models. As the year's pass, we'll see this more and more, the older factions that they just haven't got a good concept for, will fade away as they release new ideas to fill the niche. The most vulnerable ones left will be Free Peoples / Dispossed, Wanderers and the various Aelf factions. We know they've got a firm idea for the Aelves, but they're all "new model" concepts, and the Free People / Dispossed both lack anything concrete beyond Steamtanks and Cannons of the Ironweld.
  3. 20mm squares work a treat if you simply mount them on a 25mm mdf base. Being thin, you can spray them brown or green or zandri dust and superglue them to the 20mm square. Quick, easy and doesn't look terrible
  4. Worth knowing about these bad boys https://bitsofwar.com/home/98-mushrooms-.html https://bitsofwar.com/home/971-goblin-forest-mushrooms.html https://bitsofwar.com/home/953-goblin-forest-toadstools.html
  5. Same reason my Aqshy Gloomspite won't be including a magma dragon
  6. Clan Grots are a rich tribe, harvesting rare fungi and lichens that grow on the edges of the magma vents. Their darkened skin a testament to their living conditions. They prefer to wear red or orange robes, dyed with the local fungi to better blend into their surroundings, though some wear blacker robes due to the perpetual scorching heat. The tribe isn't numerous, due to dangerous nature of their home, but is well equiped as their wares are in much demand with other tribes. So they tend to make up their numbers with squigs grown in the cooler, darker recesses which tend to bright yellows or purples having grown in areas rich in sulphur and potassium, and in areas where realmstone accumulates they cultivate a good relationship with the troggoths that make their home there. To get started, we've got the Fungoid Shaman, who I've based on both a normal base, and an optional scenic base with a Scuttling servent who fetches his master's potions. The blue base is magnetised so it'll come away neatly and fit back securely when necessary
  7. Given they've got predatory spell rules, the choice to make it move over board segements is a little weird but overall the rules aren't any stranger than the Idoneth Deepkin ones. Random mortal wounds to enemy characters only helps the game. Hurting those "buff my units to be unbeatable" helps
  8. Saw these over at the Warhammer FB, definitely interested in watching them progress and stealing some ideas for my own Gloomspite Gitz band, a tribe from the Realm of Fire who harvest volcanic fungi
  9. They're week 2, so the soonest we'll see those are around Tuesday to Wednesday next week
  10. Maths on the base says 30mm radius vs 17.5 mm width from centre, leaving 12.5mm difference 2 x 12.5mm = 25mm, which is 1" basically, so when the 60mm is touching, they're 1" apart in reality, so all good right?
  11. It's 2am, my tone sucks when my brain no worky gud, sorry!
  12. Wrong! Re-read the Designers Commentary again, specifically the lines about "suggested" base sizes, and what to do if it's on a different size. So, you can mount your spiders on say, a 60mm round base for aesthetics, but make sure there's a 60 x 35mm marking on the base to help measure from
  13. Use a bigger base, it really doesn't matter
  14. So new WD has landed. Nothing extra to report but it did give me an army theme idea. Aqushy Goblins - A tribe that lives in the Realm of Fire to collect rare fungi and lichen that grow in the fire scorched realm. Better equiped and smaller in numbers due to the dangerous conditions and rich rewards on offer, they tend to wear red / orange robes, often badly skorched and their skin is naturally darker to better stand the heat (thinking Dark Angels green) Squigs will tend to be brighter yellows, or maybe some striking purples to better contrast with the red robed riders What do people think? Nifty concept??
  15. Spare space on the sprue means they get to have a bit of fun
  16. Grot Scutlings are a strong possibility to be released as their own kit. Silver Tower is OOP, and aesthetic wise, they bridge the gap nicely between Spiderfang and Moonclan forces
  17. Got the same model for my Rogue Idol, it's a bit short and definitely won't get accepted at Warhammer World as it's from another company, no matter how many bits you stick on it
  18. Chariot's gone, so I suspect that everything will go once it's sold out of the current stock
  19. Previews are all looking good, and it's good that they've combined the various Grot and Troggoth factions together, even if it does mean saying bye to the Doomdiver and Wolf chariots. The overal army vibe is very strong, a bunch of lunatics who are in it for the hell of it. Definitely gotta buy a Skarsnik model now, and look to kitbash it with the newer models for a unique vibe
  20. Currently I think 2019 is a predominately 40k year, with Vigilus shaping up, plus Blackstone Fortress proving popular, AoS will get 3 to 4 armies. Popular choices include Grots, Slaanesh, some new aelf choice (my money's on flying aelves or shadow based teleporting aelves), Ogors are possible, but they'll need to have a seriously good theme in mind, Ricky's Suneaters might give them some ideas for fire-based Ogor tribes as a counter-point to the BeastClaw Riders. Outside army concepts are Freepeople (they have some ideas there thanks to Nick Horth's work via Callis and Toll series), Dispossesed etc. Skaven are likely heading to a Beasts of Chaos style release with few new miniatures and a way to link together the clans.
  21. I like the look of a small Vanguard list Hag 3 x Ogor 3 x Ogor 3 x Troggoth 3 x Troggoth Emerald Lifeswarm Idea being the Ogors are lesser Troggoth, who can't regenerate, and are driven into battle ahead of their bretheren.
  22. Right, found the quoted FAQ in the Designer's Commentary. It's specifically saying that Allies don't count as Allies if the Batallion is the same allegiance However, here's the thing, as the models in the Batallion have the correct keyword, they're not allies, so that FAQ part doesn't apply At best, rules as written, you can argue that the Batallion cost comes from your allies allowance, but the units in it? Well they've got the correct Keyword. There may be a tiny grey area over the Allies matrix being out of date, but frankly, arguing that Brayherd != Beasts of Chaos because the faction got a rename is douchebaggery of the highest order.
  23. See, I've seen the arguement, that they have the alleigance of the batallion but there's nothing saying you get only one alleigance on a unit. Tzaangor get Tzeentch and Beasts of Chaos as an example Also, unless I'm really blind, the quoted FAQ is no longer present? At least not in the AoS app FAQ document?
  24. No FAQ needed, it has the KHORNE keyword, that's all you need to join a Blades of Khorne army. Same as Maggotkin of Nurgle is just the NURGLE keyword or Disciples of Tzeentch is just the TZEENTCH keyword. That's why you can include things like Slaves to Darkness models in the army directly
