  1. The army was only ever half done, the rise of the elves is nigh! Holy ****** though, a nimbus riding spellcaster sounds amazing.
  2. Fingers crossed for a Lumineth box! GW has traditionally made a box for a brand new army from that year (Kharadron, Idoneth, Gitz etc), so I feel like the potential is high. Between that and the launch box, that's get me in for sure.
  3. Haha I deserve that! I've even been running an Eidolon, 2 sharks and a turtle in all of my lists from day 1! Mostly it's just a matter of aesthetics and gameplay. They've been my only army since day one (I've dabbled here and there in others), so I'm just really really familiar with the army! I love the gameplay honestly, but it's starting to feel samey, and the new updates just made by whatever list meta, I absolutely demolished a friend's Lords of the Lodge with it. The extra power is absolutely mental TBH haha. That's not really my style, as long as I can hit 50/50 playing casually I'm stoked (I've only lost a handful of times, so ooph!). It's also a cost thing. I can get about $800 for my fully painted Idoneth army which will almost comptely fund my next 2k list. Lumineth are bloody expensive! In saying that, I could go stormcast without selling the Idoneth as secondhand they are ultra cheap right now.... Hence the question about the Star Drake. If I can make something awesome out of it and get to be relatively competitive, I'd be happy. Research is pointing otherwise though which is sad. Stormcast appear to be in a really bad place right now, the warscrolls feel like the S2D ones, bland and uninspired. Investing in stormcast at this point is a matter of faith haha
  4. Anyone got a functioning list with a Star Drake in it? I'm planning to pass on my Idoneth and play something new, and its either Stormcast for a guaranteed dragon or Lumineth for hopefully an eventual dragon. I guess there is hope for Broken Realms to bring something in...
  5. Given the point reductions that we see in other book, especially KO, Idoneth got really shafted this year around. The points would be fine... If things were better. I.e. 2" on Namarti, stronger spellcasting, more potent melee on Storm Eidolon, and actual useful buff from the turtle etc. Really hoping we have a battletome on the horizon within the next 6 months. Pray for Bow wielding Akhelian seahorse riders!
  6. I think we are ripe for the first non stormcast model update for AOS. GW has spent a pretty small amount of time completely updating the whole system so that everyone was on the same playing field (some benefited some didn't). As we have now approached the end of this run, I doubt we will see a) the frequency of the updates and b) the lack of releases for said updates. Now the dust has settled I believe we will go back to "New book = 2-4 new kits" way of life, and Deepkin (other than stormcast of course) are really first on the block for that expansion.
  7. Correct, It's an assumption, considering they can ally us. It would seem to be silly if not vise/versa.
  8. I feel like it's time for us to start a conversation about how we could potentially increase our competitive ability by utilizing LRL as allies. Obviously most people in thread are interested in (are likely swapping over to) LRL, although I believe IDK will get a second wave sooner rather than later, however I think that slowly building up an army is the best way to not only start a new faction but also to build up our own competitiveness. At a basic glance of the new rules, two units stand out to me - Sentinels and Wardens. Wardens provide a solid backline objective taking unit that Deepkin lack. Our thralls are killy but fragile, and for the same points I couldn't ever see us taking thralls over warden allies in a list. Additionally they provide defensive MW dealing attacks, which is often where we fall. Sentinels are for me, the more interesting of the two. Particularly their long ranged MW output which is something that Idoneth lack completely. The ability to take out key support characters is the most efficient use of them IMHO. I've often found that I've lost games due to being unable to get to the support heroes (Fyreslayers and OBR I'm looking at you!), now we have an option to take them out and let our Morrsar do what they do best. Honestly I feel like this is the game changing unit we've been waiting for. Now it comes down to whether we utilize them in an Ionrach enclave to give them our bonuses. I'm thinking mostly not, especially if just look at taking archers. (I think it was looking at 10 for 150, so a block of 20 for allies would be phenomenal).
  9. I guess I understand the need to drag out the faction reveal, but it still doesn't help to leave a bit of a sour taste on the mouth. A little hint of what's upcoming would have done wonders. Now this is making me excited again, I was just about ready to give up and go stormcast with the big Stardrake haha. I'll hold off for now I guess, really hoping that the 14th preview will be a definitive reveal.
  10. Hey everyone! I was really hoping Lumineth would give me a dragon fix but it looks like that's not happening. As such I'm thinking about hoping onto stormcast and making a list based around the Stardrake (I'd love to do 2 but I'm sure that's going to be unrealistic). Having a look at it's warscroll, is damage output is crazy disappointing to literally everything at the same points cost. I don't really understand what GWs plan is with this model, buts it's such a shame it's getting the rough end of the stick in comparison to other 400+ monsters. However it seems they do have some synergy, in particular the extra casting ability and the bow from Templar. Has anyone had any sucessful runs with these guys? Obviously running them with Dracoths is awesome but seems not great at the moment.
  11. Because I'm a selfish ****** who is losing hope haha. It mostly because I haven't played Sigmar in ages as I've gotten quite bored of my Idoneth and so instead of jumping to another faction already I've been really keen to see where elves are going, and it's been about a year since then 😛 as such I've been hyping myself on dragons for so long that I'm just worried it's not going to be this faction which is going to leave me with the Stardrake as my only option (which is a gorgeous model, I just have no interest in stormcast).
  12. I think that, once again, the absence of dragon anything is really worrying at this point. They would have dropped at least a hint by now surely? I'm starting to think that Malerion is going to be the Dragon focused faction at this point whilst Lumineth focus on fantastical beasts. Assuming that is at least a year away I might have to look into another faction to play. Kharadons and Bonereapers are looking appealing right now haha. 2 weeks though friends! After then we can all vent at that point.
  13. That is 150 billion % the hammer unit, so it looks like that's happening for sure. Dual kit with swords maybe? Can't see them not giving them 2 warscroll/weapon options at the least. I am starting to get spooked about no dragons. If that ends up being the case I guess Shadow Elves will be the dragon focused faction as Malekith fused with his. Maybe that's the angle we will see between the 2 factions, one more regal and proud and one more mysterious and beastful (creature wise).
  14. So just a few thoughts; Firstly I really think we just have to admit that they do in fact belong to a hammer unit. specifically this line from the lore part: "Lumineth warriors who bonded with the spirit of the mountain would be all but immovable in battle, stoically weathering the tide of enemies crashing against them, while their mages would bombard their foes with stones and crush them beneath rocks." It kind of screams hammers to me. I fully expect a dual kit here though for sure so I wouldn't worry. Also I don't know if it's been posted yet, I flicked through and can't remember seeing it, but it might be fun to theorycraft on Tyrion regardless. Check the picture below: Give that the sideways crescent moon is clearly representative of Teclis, I think we can assume the opposite for Tyrion. Given that it seems sun-like, I would think that Tyrion is defintiely going to be inspired by engraged, sword of Khaien Tyrion. The dude is going to be on fire for sure one way or another haha. Do we get an update soon? I'm really hoping on at least a tease for dragons. Even if it's Tyrion riding it, I need an alternative to the stardrake please!
  15. No more than 1 month, we will see them as the big release right before 40k 9th is announced at Adepticon in March. I'm loving the basic infantry which is super important. Having swords, shields and spears also sounds amazing. Not only keeps them versatile but 40 man blocks will have no compromises AND look amazing on the table. Alas, no dragons though. There is still time, but I am beginning to wonder if Tyrion will be kept away along with dragons for a wave 2 in a couple of years. Malerion is more and more likely going to be dragon focused I feel as there is no way GW let's that section of the hobby be so dormant. There is a huge market for freaks like us haha. Gah they really need to buff the Stardrake
  16. As is my opinion with a lot of things GW does, they really need to give the BL a subscription service. Let us give the $20 a month (au) or whatever and give us access to all the books and audiobooks or even a rotation of 10 or 20. (GW should be doing this with Codex/Battletomes as well). Honestly I just don't have the energy or time to get through the amount they put out, so I'm less willing to even give things a try that don't have absolutrly glowing reviews
  17. Oh it's no official or rumoured or anything, but given GWs track record I would.be completely surprised if they weren't part of a boxset containing 3 units and a hero (with the new hero being the 'Embailor' - pretty much a fish tamer, check out the short story 'The Learning') along with a new book. Books are just unpredictable that I don't have any faith that it will be full hardcore need on eels and over buff namarti instead of a balanced book. And fair about Malerion, I do really hope it'll.be good dragons vs evil dragons, but Malerion as the possibility to be the most show stopper of a model released. Also glad everyone else is in the dragon train, WE NEED MORE DRAGONS DAMNIT
  18. My Idoneth are 100% on suicide watch atm. I have a sinking feeling I'm not going to like the changes so I'm almost completely ready for new elves, just hoping there is a dragon focus of some kind. I know we have Stardrakes and Draconian guard and whatnot, but they certainly don't scratch the itch (and I'm not a fan of the stormcast aesthetic) of what I'm after, so I honestly hope there is a big focus in this army for it, or at least a centerpiece. Otherwise I'd be a little bit disappointment, so here's to hope!
