By the way was the whole

It’s also a big Chaos shindig with new looks at the Slaves to Darkness and Chaos Space Marines, so put on your spikiest helmet and join us all week

was that just the Darkoath spreus and the soft confirmation of Emperor Children? They word it as a big & mysterious deal but that pretty average

I mean, that’s on you. It was not worded as some big reveal. We got rules for Darkoath, an article looking at the models, and the EC stuff. All were new looks. Sure, they used the word shindig, but that’s just a fun word.

That's a problem for being an initial faction book. SCE had the same problem and if It was not because the dragons the book would had been terrible all the edition.

Your point about SCE is correct - but they did have some broken units. Fulminators and Longstrikes were the broken combo for a while.

Didn't they sold those at ridiculous prices? Digital books are meant to be way cheaper.

Actually, they were like $25 IIRC. Fairly reasonable. Enough that I bought some for armies I didn’t play.

That's horrible. BoC and Bonesplitterz just gone without any good reason. Arbitrary selection of Warcry warbands gone, even some very recent ones. The entire quite recent Sarcosanct range cut with no replacement. All those old Stormcast gone.

It really feels like no faction is safe AGAIN. Which is horrible, makes me way more hesitant to buy anything in the future.

The only thing that should make you feel like that is Sacrosanct going away.

BoC received one new army model in all of AoS and was telegraphed by TOW news. Warcry stuff was for Warcry - just also got AoS rules. They’ve now made a hard pivot since the first round of Warcry so that units do fit in with their armies.

  4. Yeah mysterious terrain needs an overhaul.

I like the double turn. I mainly play in leagues where I have taught people AoS and then try to get to two GTs a year. With two young kids, it’s a lot easier for me to take two weekends for AoS gaming a year as opposed to weekly or bi-weekly game nights.

Like others who play a lot, I find taking the double turn is often worse than giving the turn away unless you truly need it.

You know some of the statements being made by ardent double turn defenders really read like the people making them have never played any game aside from Sigmar.

If this is about me, more or less fair. I used to play WHFB, dabbled in 40k once upon a time, and have looked into TOW. But AoS is the only tabletop game I’ve played regularly in the past 5 years.

Like I said - it’s different for different people. I live in a small town in Michigan (US). People I’ve taught AoS to in my small town like the double turn. People in my larger region of West MI are 50/50. People in the state of MI are very pro double turn. I know this because there’s three sizable AoS clubs in the state, and I run into people from those clubs at GTs and RTTs.

I’m also part of a Midwest (region in the US) gaming group that mainly plays AoS, Magic, and TOW that loves the double turn.

My favorite YouTubers all enjoy the double turn. And I’d agree that most competitive players skip taking the double turn unless it guarantees their win - which is rare.

Overall, doesn’t matter. It’s here for at least the next three years.

Looking forward to having different things to discuss next week or when the next rumor drops 😂

This whole "if you take a double turn you can't score a battle tactic" will only be impactful if battle tactics are relevant, which remains to be seen.

Also : “I often ask competitive players, playtesters, and influencers the same questions,” says Matt. “What they’d add to the game, what they’d change about it, and what they’d remove from it. By far, the number one answer to the last question is this: ‘not the double turn!’ Our players are fiercely loyal to this concept, to the point it’s become a bit of a rallying call!”

And these people who "like the double turn", are they in the room with us now ?

Are they in the room with us right now? Meme Generator - Imgflip

This just blows my mind. So many people like the double turn. I know there’s people who don’t, but generally it’s very well loved. Several of my friends told Matt as much at Adepticon.

Yeah I couldn't help but roll my eyes at it. "By far, the number one answer to the last question is this: ‘not the double turn!’". Please. I don't know a single person in real life or a single YouTuber that would respond like that. The only people I know that actually stick up for it are on here, in real life it's resigned ambivalence at best with the majority disliking it in one way or another.

    😄😄😄

From like 10 people I know personally that play AoS, 9 od them at best hate double turn, some to the point that resigned from the game at all.

It’s pretty clear on here how so many people enjoy AoS in their own bubbles.

My hyper local gaming group of mainly new players in the last year likes the double turn. My region generally is ambivalent about it - some like it, some dislike it.

My larger gaming group loves it. At GTs, it’s generally loved. The biggest AoS YouTubers (Season of War, Honest Wargamer, Battleshock Wargaming, Warhammer Weekly) all like it.

I chat with some hyper competitive people and they love it.

I think exactly the same. I just hope that the people above the creative and developers doens't bother with Matt Rose stuff.

I know that it will be an unpopular opinion, but I don't see a gigantic amount of changes in that PDF. Not so diferent than AoS, only 1 page of core rules changes (mainly to devastating wounds and a few clarifications or better wording to how can you use the Insane bravery/Overwtach stratas).

Everything else seems to be focused on factions, that is expected (if you group up all codex's FAQ's, you would probably end with 20-30 or more pages).

I didn't know that, but for me AoS 3th edition was the best with the first 1-2 GHB's. They lost me with the latest GHB's. So that would be his influence.

AFAIK Matt only had a hand in writing the two most recent GHBs. The others were written by the previous team. I don’t like this one’s magic, but do like the battle plans. I loved the last one - the Galletian Champion one.

It was the former. Their strategy is to make a big launch box for the experienced players, and then switch to three smaller boxes to entice new players. The largest box starter box contains scenery. They’ve done this for 40k 8-10th editions. With AoS third edition was the first time they sold a box with plastic scenery.
I wonder if the smart move would be to scrap the larger starter box and make the launch box an ongoing product with a much smaller initial print run, then intrudce the two smaller boxes later on.

This is sort of wrong. It’s been explained in places, but GW had stores order as much Dominion as they wanted, but then only sent a handful of copies while still selling them online themselves. They then sent the rest several months after launch. So the 3rd party stores got really hurt by that model as they got their copies after people wanted them. It was just awful. Source - a couple people who run hobby stores.

I did not, I just saw Sprues and Brews short review

That’s their interpretation of a vague vision where a Phoenix gets consumed by a dark cloud. I think it’s actually the doom of Phoenicium by Skaven.

They are going out of Beastgrave at the same time that Kragnos stomp affected all the Destruction factions.

It was Alarielle’s ritual that awoke Kragnos and possibly the silent people.

Still, I don’t see them getting an army. More silent observers.

Whitefang insinuated that GA: Death would get involved as protagonists as well, so I am thinking that Skaven might figure out how to destroy or otherwise mess with souls. Obviously, that scares Sigmar, since it might stop Stormcast from reforging. But Nagash would also hate it, since he views all souls as being rightfully his. That would explain the team-up.

IIRC the line was vague enough that it could have something to do with the new Stormcast being death themed based on the rumors of Ruination Chamber and the direction of the Dawnbringers stories.

  13. So far, it seems to be Scarlet Doom lists that going 4-1 at tourneys since this change. Making Bladegheists more killy just means they’re able to eliminate whatever they touch. The Mannfred RoR also seems popular, as it should be.

I don't have any info regarding exact release dates this time, but I know that the Saviours of Cinderfall boxes are already out in the wild, so I won't be surprised if it's Dawnbringers 5 tomorrow

Models go out fairly early so people have time to paint them from what I know.

True. It is a good point. Showcasing new Spearheads and even hinting its game mode rules and/or dropping a date to put for sale the ones they announced already.

    13 minutes ago, Ejecutor said:

Yeah, but how much can you delay them? We would end up overlapping with the 4th ed box content if they don't speed up.

They usually announce Dawnbringer shorts in the Sunday preview at the very end.

I’d imagine they begin next week, however they could break the cycle of 5 with each.

    It did, twice

The first time was when AOS rules launched and they indexed every WHFB army, and the second time was with the Grand Alliance books that updated the WHFB armies into AOS armies. They had a Grand Alliance index book for each grand alliance.

    image.png.447a234fc9837efc3f5cfb86529274e1.png

They even included some warscroll battalions in each of the books.

I don’t think launching a brand new game is at all the same as an index. Obviously all the models that came over got different rules for a completely different game.

  17. 6 hours ago, RetconnedLegion said:

I really hope 4th isn’t changing things to the point we need Indexes. Having rulesets thrown out after two editions of 40K has gotten old really quickly.

AoS has never done an index though, right? The cost of rulebooks is absurd, but I’d be fine with it going either way this summer.

    what the are those changes???

some op armys like khorne big wagh or bones didnt was touched, but others like idonet got utterly deletted????

they were allready among worst army since that absurded came out. only got up with last fuethan change and it got totally deleted now, making even worse than before. AND they deleted the eidolon of sea for unknowns reasons..... i was expecting a -50p on him since he has been useless whole book. dont get why they decided to delete it completly now, making his spell work only to melee.

and kroak build got hit really hard with a hike of around 100p and the removal of 3 summon points per turn and anothers 2-3 more on oponnent turn if they do lot of magic.

and why everyone got 2" on his weapons, but saurus with mace keep with 1" or idoneth eels with spears only 1" too, or bite mechanic of seraphon keep being useless, nedding 1" on every model etc....

and will have to play with this thing untill new edittion LOL

The tactics update is pretty big for Big Waaagh. Idoneth have been doing really well lately - especially shark spam. I tell ya that Deepkin have one of books that’s sort of a miss for third, but these changes you mentioned seem fine.

So don't know if anyone posted it but there was a FAQ with the AoS Team at Las Vegas Open and the AoS Team there confirmed that BoC will remain in Aos and be used the same way Warriors of Chaos/Slaves to Darkness are being used in Old World.

I hope that is true, we will see.

That’s the first I’ve heard of that.
