  1. That’s my speculation too. Winter’s big release will be FEC, which leaves a spring big release for AoS. This has happened before 3rd and 2nd.
  2. The article says new warscrolls, a new army of renown, ‘eavy metal painting pictures, and lore. Pages right from the new book.
  3. It would really help little melee heroes. Just being part of a unit and not having to take turns to activate would be a boon for them.
  4. Rules bloat is the most common I’ve heard. And that’s fair. I wouldn’t mind seeing some of the bloat go away.
  5. This is probably for the best too, honestly, While I love 3rd and find it vastly superior to 2nd; I know a few players who don't like it and have stopped playing AoS.
  6. Except these factions are specifically called out as their book tactics are not balanced compared to other books.
  7. I’m guessing that’s probably the entire range for CoS on launch. Will be interesting to see how the different cities are differentiated. I’m guessing more than a single rule and battleline option.
  8. I only have two games in, but I've found taking the battalion for spell enhancement to be really beneficial - especially when forced to go second and getting a bonus cast on my Warsong.
  9. I'm kicking myself for not gettting some to use as Sylvaneth bug riders. But they'd likely make for good Hexwraiths as well.
  10. There's two Nighthaunt Discords as well - but I agree. It's crazy trying to stay caught up with it. I'm very much a web 2.0 person - give me easy to read blogs and forums any day of the week.
  11. Agree with this. There's also two Nighthaunt Discord servers and a Facebook group. I shifted to playing Sylvaneth last winter and all the faction forums on here seem to be dying a bit. Most people seem to use Discord, Facebook, or Whatsapp (I've never used that). Overall, I was shocked to see how poorly Nighthaunt during the last GHB. Personally, I dislike playing them as while retreat and charge is really powerful, it's very time consuming for a horde army and I don't play enough to get quick at the game. I think there's power now in a hero focused list now that you can fully screen heroes with Spirit Hosts and that the named heroes all got cheaper. One of Nighthaunt's problems remains that they really rely on spells, but pretty much don't have ways to cast them anymore. Primal dice will see that their casting is even more limited IMO.
  12. Pretty sure it's just he is going of Whitefang - listened to the Podcast version and thought he said that it sounds likes.
  13. Honestly, this could even be the Skaven refresh. They were a decently well supported faction in WHFB. Could also be Chorfs or Tyrion. So, without further info, that could refer to a lot.
  14. A few things: First off, Nighthaunt are actually not in a great spot right now even though that still seems odd to me. They'll be a step up from Kruleboyz for sure, but don't expect them to be able to go toe to toe with current heavyweights. The Guardian of Souls is Nighthaunt's only generic wizard and Nighthaunt really want their spells to be operating at full capacity, so it's close to an auto include. Plus it's +1 to wound bubble is quite nice. Spirit Torments are also quite nice for the rez they provide. Olynder can be great, I've run her and had her be my MVP - ditto the Black Coach. But it's hard to justify their points in this army. I'd say you can justify Olynder, but the Coach is really hard to justify. Still, as I said, it can do some work. As for unit size, you really either want to go full MSU with tiny units, or you want to max units in my mind. 20 ghosts just isn't enough to withstand any serious targeting, but becomes a major point sink. A unit of 30 can withstand quite a bit - especially if they get Shademist and a 5+ ward an are backed up by a Torment. The goal of Nighthaunt as built is to always be charging (ABC) though, and the more units you charge with the better, so minimum units are also good.
  15. Haha, what timing. Just today it was officially moved into Legends and no longer matched play legal. This decision was leaked to some people a while ago, so not surprising on the whole.
  16. I always used to give my Krulghast Arcane Tome to make it more worthwhile, but now that's just a waste of an artefact. It is a useful piece, especially if you're running a death star, running a cohort of heroes, or just running something you want to be able to take some punches. I'd lean with it over the Knight of Shrouds. It also has a shooting attack, which is nice if you are running Harridans.
  17. This doesn’t work in Sylvaneth lore whatsoever - Sylvaneth would be more apt to view factions like KO, Fyreslayers, and Cities as Destruction aligned. EDIT: Also, reading some other posts, Sylvaneth do not represent all of nature in The Mortal Realms. They’re pretty much exclusively about their forests and doing what they can to protect their forests. Apart from the Spites, they view Order factions as allies in this regard.
  18. Seeing some speculation here that doesn’t make much sense to me. I’ll be shocked if Dawnbringers is not the end of edition narrative. It doesn’t need to be some world changing event - we know one fails. Maybe it’s the new big bad of 4th that causes it to fail? My money is on Chaos Dwarfs in Aqshy causing that one to fail. Also, it seems clear to me Dawnbringers will be 5 books. The Harbingers is the intro and then we know there’s a Destruction one in the fall and there’s a harbinger for each Grand Alliance. Seems like after the initial one, there will be a book for each Grand Alliance. So there’s probably a narrative book not on the roadmap, which would make sense for it being the end of edition campaign. I’m guessing the realm will shift to whichever realm has the Dawnbringers fail. I’d guess the harbinger factions all see updates (a battletome for FEC). Nurgle makes sense to appear in Ghyran and Fyreslayers in Aqshy. FEC and Gloomspite would make more sense to me Ghyran, but could be either. On top of that, we already know Warclans is getting something. Whitefang has hinted at Sylvaneth getting Kurnothi. So that’s 6 factions.
  19. One thing of note, though GW doesn’t list authors of battletomes, is the rules team totally changed over starting with the Nurgle book. We have no idea what the new team was/was not allowed to do in the beginning, and they may have felt more comfortable using more tools as time went on. I know the win rates aren’t necessarily there, but I feel like my two armies (Nighthaunt and Sylvaneth) can handle most anything from the newer books. I think this edition has been a vast improvement compared to the power creep that was seen with 2nd edition battletomes.
  20. Meh. The different cities are the subfactions. Dawnbringer Crusades are campaigns they go on. Would make sense as the next Broken Realms narrative series honestly.
  21. In the Metawatch video today, the lead game designer mentioned this spring will be the quickest set of AoS releases since 3.0.
  22. The issue is Nighthaunt have much better options for alpha pinning. I'm also skeptical of 20 blocks of Chainrasps holding up. I had a lot of luck with a block of 30 with Nagash... but had I run a block of 20 they'd have been dead. I had a Spirit Torment as well. Also, I just don't thing Greiving Legion is good compared to the other subfactions. It doesn't have the utility of Emerald Host, doesn't open up battleline options, doesn't increase your damage, and even if it works; it creates a NPE for your opponent. I was high on it when I first read the book, but am not anymore.
  23. Honestly, yeah I think Nagash might have juice this edition. I've played two games now, and The Emerald Curse does work, especially against small heroes. A 55 point reduction is large, the realm spell is a great tool in his arsenal, he can easily zap GCs with Arcane Bolts, he can teleport in Nighthaunt to grab objectives, Chainrasps are a better investment without bounty hunters being around; there's a lot to like about him.
