  1. So this is the list I’m thinking of taking to a tournament. Not to win, but to have fun and not be tabled. As far as models go, the ones I could sub in are a Mega-Gargant, a Necromancer, some Black Knights and the Cursed City box. I was going to take the Mega Gargant for fun but man it’s not worth it compared to what I have in there now. I was going back and forth between the Necromancer and Vampire Lord until I switched from LoN to Vyrkos and a Vampire Lord now seemed a given, what do you guys and girls think?

    Allegiance: Soulblight Gravelords
    - Lineage: Vyrkos Dynasty
    - Mortal Realm: Ghyran
    - Grand Strategy: Hold the Line
    - Triumphs: Indomitable

    Leaders
Mannfred von Carstein, Mortarch of Night (380)**
    - Lore of the Deathmages: Fading Vigour
    - Lore of the Deathmages: Decrepify
Vampire Lord on Zombie Dragon (435)**
    - General
    - Deathlance
    - Artefact: Amulet of Destiny (Universal Artefact)
    - Lore of the Vampires: Spirit Gale
    - Universal Spell Lore: Flaming Weapon
Belladamma Volga, First of the Vyrkos (200)**
    - Lore of the Vampires: Soulpike
    - Lore of the Vampires: Amethystine Pinions
    Vampire Lord (140)**
    - Lore of the Vampires: Spirit Gale
    - Universal Spell Lore: Levitate

    Battleline
    30 x Deathrattle Skeletons (255)*
    - Reinforced x 2
    20 x Deathrattle Skeletons (170)*
    - Reinforced x 1
    10 x Dire Wolves (135)**

    Units
    20 x Grave Guard (280)*
    - Wight Blades & Crypt Shields
    - Reinforced x 1

    Core Battalions
    *Hunters of the Heartlands
    **Warlord

    Additional Enhancements
    Spell

    Total: 1995 / 2000
    Reinforced Units: 4 / 4
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 130
    Drops: 8

  2. Do you mean it's not supposed to work this way? It's the way it is in every browser I've used on many different computers and devices. It makes it so I avoid clicking the bell icon until I have enough time set aside to read every unread thread at once, because if I click one thread and then come back later, I won't know which other threads I missed that I didn't already read.

  3. When you have new notifications, you see a number next to the little notification bell in the corner. When you click the bell, threads with new posts are highlighted in blue. That's great!  However, as soon as you click a thread, the little red number and all the blue highlight disappear. This means that you no longer know which threads have new posts. This can be very annoying, especially when you don't want to read all updated threads in one go. Any chance you could make it so the red number just decreases by one (instead of disappearing completely) when you click on a thread, and the blue highlight persist on the threads you haven't clicked on yet?

After see so many crys of idoneth players about the shark i have checked the warscoll and i dont know what people think is wrong with it.

    Gyrocopter\bomber of dispossesed:80 points

1'5 damage at rangue and 0'1 at melle

    4 wound with 4 save

    Idoneth shark:120 points

5 damage at melle and 1'5 at rangue

    8 wounds with 4 save

So the shard cost 50% more than the copter for 100% more wounds,500% more damage(6'5 shark vs 1'5 copter) and same other stats

So two unit with same role and the shark is so much better and i dont see people crying about the copters

The Gyrocopter is one of the worst units in the game, you don’t see people crying about it because no one uses it.

These are the things im talking about when it comes to Grims. When a basic battleline like Witches can shred through literally anything they touch. There are fundamental issues that need to be addressed somewhere.

I don't know if the Witches are indicative of any fundamental issues. The problem with Witch Elves specifically is they have access to insane buffs that can't be countered (because they are warscroll abilities, prayers and/or allegiance abilities). So without you being able to do anything about it (except killing their support characters, which is not easy for us) they can get

    - immunity to Battleshock
    - their 6++ damage save becomes 5++...
    - ...re-rollable
    - 4 attacks each
    - 6s to hit become two hits
    - re-rolling all failed to wound rolls
    - and from turn 3 onwards, also re-rolling all failed to hit rolls

And on top of all that, the one buff you can counter (because it's a spell) gives them -1 rend and also damage 2 on their weapons if they are higher Bravery than you. Even without that though, they kill anything they touch in one round of combat as you can probably guess.

...and you know what else? They can also be made to fight in the Hero Phase :D

They could easily be fixed in a number of ways, for example by making Prayers counterable or harder to cast, making the Witch Brew a Command Ability (so it wasn't free to use), nerfing the Hagg-Nar allegiance abilities, etc. It's not an AoS problem IMO, it's an DoK problem specifically.

  6. They have been having production issues for a long time, which is why they started building new production facilities at Nottingham HQ last year. I don't know if they're up and running yet but we'll definitely be feeling that big upswing in production capacity.

  7. Question: How do we beat Daughters of Khaine without Nagash? Even a VLoZD with Ethereal Amulet rerolling save rolls of 1 can't survive fighting Witch Elves. We've got basically nothing that can snipe the Hags or kill the Cauldrons at range. Fighting the Witch Elves themselves is futile until their support is gone since they will nuke anything they touch. What options do we have here?

Actually, in the old lore there is a chaos god named Zuvassin. If i remember well, he is the god whose goal is to undo the plans of everybody, everywhere, everytime.

    It may just be that.

    Sounds like Malal, alternate name?

  9. Points weren't really a problem if you played at a club or similar since you could just use one of the most popular systems. We used the SCGT pools system and it worked great until GW made an official one (at least partly based on SCGT as I understand it).

I heard original AoS was so bad there was a plague of videos of people burning their 1,000’s of dollar armies. Like apparently AoS was literally garbage upon launching but I started in 2017 September and always thought it was a good game. 2.0 made it even better but the parts of 1.0 I played I thought were good.

I’m just waiting to see when everything gets really fixed. Sure some stuff is getting nice support and is in a good place, but there’s still a lot of broken and unviable stuff too.

The ghosts part of death is in great shape, but the everything else could use some work.

Literally all of of Destruction needs some work.

Half of Order is in great shape and then there’s the Dwarves (all of them, Fyreslayers, KO and dispossessed) the Elves (all of them except DoK and IDK) the regular humans and so forth.

All of Skaven needs help. Half of the Chaos gods and even the slaves to Darkness could use a little boost.

Theres just a lot of old models and old factions with bad or no rules that need to be cleaned up.

This is hyperbolic. There was one guy burning his army on Youtube and everyone pretty much laughed him out of the room. The game wasn't garbage, in fact it was pretty much like it is now, or at least like how it was at the end of 1.0. The big differences are the points obviously, Allegiance Abilities and the Rules of One which didn't exist. But the community quickly created several points systems which were pretty great. Overall the game was just as much fun as it is now, just not as tight and with less layers of extra rules. What it did have back then that it doesn't have now were thousands of raging WHFB fans who made sure to tell everyone, in every thread, on every forum, on every Facebook group, what a ****** game it was and how GW were going under.

This Beasts of Chaos thing is bad. It's very bad.

I had about come-to-terms with letting a bunch of my old minis go...but now I have to rekindle and finish my Khorne-based Warherd.

Chaos Allegiance with a Followers of The Brass Bull (Taurox!) battalion. Lots of minotaurs supported by slaughterpriests and bloodstokers.

    Yeah, this is bad.

I don’t think you can do that, Battallions need the appropriate keyword to be used in an allegiance. Otherwise they’ll be allies.

Skaven were written into the world building, TK wasn’t - by mistake.

As for the reason of AoS too- that’s widely documented. I believe you can even find reports on it. Alan Merritt is no longer with GW as he was fired due to the disaster that was original AoS launch.

But as I said believe what you will.

Like I said- AoS 2 is obviously a lie.....

From what I've heard, Alan Merret was quietly made aware that his presence was no longer wanted after his partner-in-crime Tom Kirby left the CEO chair to Kevin Rountree. Rountree had been around for a long time in a high management position and knew exactly who the most toxic people in the company were. This had been going on for a long time before AoS, in fact both Alan Merret and Tom Kirby have been at GW since the 80s and have held high positions within the company for a long time (Tom Kirby participated in the management buy-out of GW in the 90s and became chairman and CEO).

Nagash + lots of endless spells is legit.  You are one skeleton/grave guard unit short of a valid FC batallion, though, and technically the necromancer makes it a 2 drop.

But a bit of tweaking will fix it right up.

Each wizard can only cast one Endless spell per turn though, so I don’t see Nagash getting the chance to cast all those.

You cant pick unit sizes. They did ****** like this for 40k 8th edition box. Points and such were totally different. GHB18 over rides anything in the soul wars box set for points/unit sizes. Simple as that

Sure but you can use all the units from the Dark Imperium box in Matched Play, so it’s not really comparable. GW might go out and say that it’s ok to use the Soul Wars unit sizes.

I'm sorry.. I had some trouble following you there.
So when building a list for a tournament or just any game with a friend that involves objectives, do I use Pitched Battle profile? or do I use Generals handbook?

Cause someone posted that min size for reapers was 5 in generals handbook.. That could have been wrong though.

Generals Handbook points are also called Pitched Battle Profiles. It’s just the name they use for Matched Play Points, unit sizes and battlefield roles. The thing here is that the profiles in the Soul Wars box set are different from those in the GHB. For example Reapers are min 4 here but min 10 in the GHB.  If you can pick which one to use, then the box set unit sizes would actually be usable in Matched Play.

Purple Sun of Shyish: "If the unit has Wounds characteristic of 6 or more, it suffers 2D6 mortal wounds instead".

According to this an unit of 5 Liberators has 10 wounds and I should deal them 2d6 mw - is it correct?

the Wounds characteristic of a unit is the number printed on the warscroll.

So I love the Mortarch of Grief. 10/10 will bring her often.

Craven King... I actually love his rules and his model... but it confused me a lot.  I had imagined him having the sort of stats/abilities that the Grimhailer had.  Sort of a mix between warrior and wizard.  Not upset of disappointed, just seems at odds with his model.  The heralds and stuff seem like the perfect source of army buffs and stuff, but instead they are purely 'fluff' pieces.  Again, not bad... just... off.

Grimhailer... wow I love the rider a lot.  Think his horse is cool.  Hate the horse's wings, he's a ghost man, his horse can fly without wings that I have to try to transport without breaking him.  I love his rules, all of them, but like the Craven King I am just put on heels by that model being the melee/wizard.  He looks like he should be the beat stick hero.  Makes sense that he is not, love his rules, glad they are how they are my expectations were just subverted pretty hard.  I will likely remove his wings and make him just on a spectral steed, but all three of these heroes will be in my collection 100%.

Awesome new models and rules, can't wait for them to release so I can buy them already.

    It's not a horse... it's a dead Pegasus!

  18. Very nice! I would also like to plug Hanskrampf on dakkadakka, he's designed  beautiful custom cards for almost every faction in the game (including LoN), they have battle traits, command traits, command abilities, artefacts, spells and skills. Basically everything you would want, he also has special files for printing. So check them out as well and pick the one you prefer: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/724491.page
