  1. Gotcha, sorry. I was confused by the post you were responding to, which mentioned "the last year" and Covid so I assumed they (and you) meant since last summer. My bad.
  2. Can someone point to me a list of AoS battle tomes, rule books, and campaign books listed in order or publication (preferably with the date given) since the launch of 1.0, up through and including the latest books of those types?
  3. Four Broken Realms books now! Kraaaaagnooooosss! Rawr!
  4. I still haven't picked up the plastic Lord Kroak yet, though I'm definitely saving my pennies to do so. Meantime, is my finecast Kroak still legal for matched play? I'm thinking there might be a base difference that makes the answer to that no.
  5. Oh no! Sorry to hear this. Hope everyone gets healthy or stays healthy!
  6. [Note: I originally put this in the rules questions forum but decided it fits better here.] Sorry in advance for the length and, probably, “basic-ness” of all this. Context, I only played 2.0 for a little while after the initial release (pre Malign Sorcery). Okay, here we go. What’s up with Endless Spells? There don’t seem to be any associated with my Seraphon faction on the Pitched Battles Profiles that have been floating around. Surely that doesn’t mean we don’t have access to them? There’s a sidebar in the rules about Battlepacks including notes about whether they can be used or not, but since some factions DO have Endless Spells listed in their points profiles, I’m confused. Another thing about Endless Spells. I tracked down an unopened copy of the original Malign Sorcery boxed set so I’ll have all that first batch. Are there any others I need to get hold of? I gather that those faction-specific ones are, well, faction-specific. I have one of those tornado deals but I’ve read that’s not going to be part of the game anymore. Priests! I love my Skink priest models, but chanting prayers is completely new to me, and none of my current warscrolls (from the most recent Seraphon Battletome and the Age of Sigmar app) have anything about them. Is there a book I missed somewhere, like the Malign Sorcery update, which includes information about them? Is that information, perhaps, in the four Broken Realms hardcovers that have been released? Speaking of those four books, is there any important rules content them at all? I do plan to get them for lore and art at the least, but I have some models and battle mats taking up my hobby budget over the next month or two. Invocations. These seem to be the the Priestly version of Endless Spells, at least if I’m reading the con/subtext right in the rules, even to the point of there being models for them. I can’t find any model for them on the webstore or lists of the Invocations themselves and who can take them and how. And okay, this is a big one. I’m struggling to understand all the rules associated with 27.0 Allegiance Abilities and 27. 3 Enhancements. 27.2 Battle Traits and 27.2.1 Subfactions. Okay, I think I got this. These are just the Battle Traits on p. 55 of our battletome under Ways of the Seraphon, and then, depending on the subsection, Coalesced or Starborne. 27.3 Enhancements. Each set of allegiance abilities (which I’m used to being Battle Traits, Command Traits, Artefacts of Power, and Spell Lores) are given to specific units. I got that. However! There are also now Prayer Scriptures, Mount Traits, Triumphs, and Unique Enhancements. Those are new to me (except may triumphs, but I’ll get to that). 27.3.5 Prayer Scriptures. See above, where do I find these? 27.3.6 Triumphs. I think I remember these from fighting Pitched Battles. If I start with fewer points than my opponent there’s a list of stuff I can do, usually once per battle if memory serves. 23.3.7 Unique Enhancements. As with Prayer Scriptures, I’m mystified. Now! Helpfully, there are Universal versions of Enhancements that clue me in a bit (though there are no Universal Endless Spells or Invocations that I’ve seen). But it seems like there should be some Seraphon specific (and indeed, all-factions specific) Prayer Scriptures, Mount Traits, and Unique Enhancements. Oh, and speaking of Mount Traits, those actually don’t receive any sub-rule, explanation, or universal set. So what’s up with those? Will it mean that our Carnosaurs will have to pick between Blood Frenzy and Pinned Down, do you think? Okay, looking back at all of this, it makes me feel like there’s a book I haven’t read, and I”m hoping y’all will be able to point me to it. It may, in fact, be the new Core Rulebook and I’m not alone in my mystification, but it seems unlikely that, for example, that book will include Prayer Scriptures for every faction and Mount Traits for every mount in the game. Answering this question probably answers all of them! Sorry this was the length of the Bible.
  7. My first AoS 3.0 games will be at a game day I'm hosting on August 8th. I'm crashing work deadlines until July 1st, so I will spend the month of July trying to learn the rules and building and painting as many of my unbuilt and paint Seraphon Behemoths as possible.
  8. Now I've got Jemaine Clement's voice going through my head singing "Shiny" from the Moana soundtrack. "I was a sad little crab once..."
  9. Is there not a way to effectively play this game competitively while limiting the number of charges you make with your units? That's what triggers Rain Down Hell, correct?
  10. Who is writing the White Dwarf duardin short stories?
  11. Your definition of value seems a bit dated. Like, Adam Smith dated. In any case, I'm worried about the product (if you'll forgive my usage of the term) for various reasons but you can bet your sweet non fungible that GW will turn a profit on it.
  12. Can someone point me to a post (in this thread or elsewhere) that discusses the new table sizes as outlined in the Battlepacks? I'm lucky enough to have access to a fabulous room in a shared workspace I recently started helping to run and plan monthly AoS game days starting next month. The problem (if it is a problem) is that the two tables I have to work with are each 49" x 59," so no the 4' x 6' I believe was standard in previous editions. I've heard a lot of talk about smaller tables, but is this going to prevent me from offering anything larger than 1,000 point games? I have ideas for workarounds that might get me up to 4' x 6' but I don't want to go to the trouble if I don't have to.
  13. Fair enough. I guess I was making a distinction between "needs attention" and "needs expansion."
  14. I dunno. We already have a lot of cool models and, really, we didn't get hurt too bad in the points department. I'd like to see some finecast retired in favor of new plastic sculpts for some units, but other armies/factions need expansion a lot more than we do.
  15. Well, no offense to fans of either leader, but Lord Kroak and Churchill do, in fact, kind of resemble one another.
  16. I wrote GW Customer Service and asked if/when the Citadel Colour App will be updated with the new paints added since the contrast range was introduced. This was the reply I received: Hi,Thank you for your email.Unfortunately we have no information on when it will specifically happen but, any announcement of it will be done on Warhammer community. Many thanks. Which I think of as neither particular promising nor particularly worrisome. I imagine they've got a lot going on right now and hope they'll get to it. I just hope it remains free and doesn't get locked behind a paywall bundled in with Warhammer Plus (or however you say that).
  17. Has there been any trustworthy talk about which Battletomes will be released in what order for 3.0?
  18. The description of the two-pack that went up for preorder yesterday says that together they're "the perfect size for your 1,000 point games." Now, I don't know if table size and army points scale up at exactly the same rate, but if they do, looks like, yeah.
  19. I got away from gaming and missed out on second edition pretty much entirely (though I did buy and read the battle tome). I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on how our faction looks in the new edition, and I have one specific question--what happened to bound endless spells? Not that I ever played with endless spells, bound or otherwise, but the leaked General's Handbook 2021 points values I've seen for Seraphon don't include any endless spells at all. What, if anything, does that mean? But don't let my specific question put you off from a free spirited and polite conversation about the faction in general in this brave new world of beasts!
  20. When talk turns to the corvidae, There’s things to say for days. The raven that croaked “Nevermore,” The crow that solved a maze. A jackdaw is a corvid, too, And magpies with their beady gaze. Less known are treepies and the choughs, Which haunt the seaside cliffs and bays. But a corvid with an attitude, And eyes that dance a-crazed? Forget your ravens, rooks, and crows, The MEANEST are bluejays.
  21. If that's the guy with the sarcophagus or whatever on his back I think it's just the casket edge and not of a piece with the skull at all.
  22. I've been laboriously writing out text files for all this stuff (for my Seraphon, actually). This is such a wonderful contribution to the community. Thank you (and your team of plucky volunteers) so much!
  23. I just want to publicly thank @Overread for the link to the very helpful blog post by Waywalkers studio on assembling the terrain out of the starter box. I would have made a LOT of mistakes with that information. Thank you!
