Tzeentch's summoning mechanics are completely borked for smaller sized games so I wouldn't worry about the 9 DD being unbalanced at those tiers - just look at it as balancing out how badly Fate Points scale for summoning.
I never found that a problem. Isn't the number of casters, and therefore the number of "summoning points" scaled to the game size?
In case it is, what have you found useful to nerf the Fate Points generation? I don't see "upgrading to 2k" as an option right now -
I don't know if this has been discussed in the past. Probably it has, I guess. I usually play with my fiance and from time to time with a friend. Neither of them has a big collection and we prefer shorter games so most of our games are played in the 750-1000 points range. It's all fine and good unless I use my DoT, and that is because I feel like most allegiance abilities scale to the point total being used. For example, half the points means half the spells and therefore half the Fate Points and half the summonings.
That doesn't happen with our Destiny Dice. Am I supposed to get the full nine dice whatever the game magnitude is? It seems that way but it feels a bit overpowered to me since it doesn't scale. I have been using 5 or 3 for smaller games in order to "scale" it down, but I'm unsure if this is just a pet peeve of me or this has been addressed somewhere I didn't find. -
Hi! I would like to get your advice on starting a 1000 points tzeentch daemons army. I really don't want to be THAT GUY but I have been a fan of horrors and flamers since the old 2000 times. Reading this thread and other resources like goonhamer I think that Eternal conflagration is the easiest but more predictible way to go.
In the end I arrived to two different armies and I don't know if the second one is in a more serious disadvantage. I really like my LoC model (it was a present from my wife, who will also be my more frequent opponent) and I would like to use it, but between this and the horror units I don't have that much points wiggle room I guess.
Army 1Allegiance: Tzeentch
- Change Coven: Eternal ConflagurationLeaders
Changecaster, Herald of Tzeentch (110)
- General
Fateskimmer, Herald of Tzeentch on Burning Chariot (140)Battleline
10 x Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (220)
10 x Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (220)
3 x Flamers of Tzeentch (140)
3 x Flamers of Tzeentch (140)Total: 970 / 1000
Extra Command Points: 0
Allies: 0 / 200
Wounds: 45
Army 2Allegiance: Tzeentch
- Change Coven: Eternal ConflagurationLeaders
Lord of Change (380)
- General
Changecaster, Herald of Tzeentch (110)Battleline
10 x Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (220)
3 x Flamers of Tzeentch (140)
3 x Flamers of Tzeentch (140)Total: 990 / 1000
Extra Command Points: 0
Allies: 0 / 200
Wounds: 41
So what would you change. Are they viable?
Thank you in advance for your help. -
Hi, I am just starting back on AoS so I need to get both my OBR and this army. Me and some friends plan to get this started with smallish 1000 points games and then scale up.
With the minis I have (and with a flamer changehost in mind) I was planning something like this:
Allegiance: Tzeentch
- Change Coven: Eternal ConflagurationLeaders
Lord of Change (380)
Battleline
10 x Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (200)
3 x Flamers of Tzeentch (120)
3 x Flamers of Tzeentch (120)Units
1 x Burning Chariots of Tzeentch (150)Total: 970 / 1000
Extra Command Points: 0
Allies: 0 / 200
Wounds: 42
Opinions? Should I switch the Burning chariot to an foot Exalted Flamer and use the leftovers for something else? Maybe I could get some more pinks (got like 40 and 60 blue&brimstones) but it feels kinda dirty for 1k and I worry about the mobility (since at 1k I cannot get the changehost batallion teleport) -
Now that we are on a shopping spree, do you need a Tzeentch player should purchase the Beasts of Chaos and/or Slaves to Darkness battletomes? I mean if I intend to play as Allegiance:Tzeentch, of course. Any specific warscrolls or elegible lores that are only present there? Would you consider their Endless Spells (usable by tzaangor shamen and StD sorcerers I guess) to be usable?
Sorry if it is a stupid or already asked question. -
I didn't read it like that but yeah, it's an unfair advantage, specially with army terrain being points-free.

Yeah I was wondering that myself... why no terrain for all armies?? It makes no sense.
To me, the fact that none of the armies army was shown with a terrain piece actually gives me hope that they simply haven't shown said pieces in the article.

I don’t understand how it’s not readily apparent that I understand that now. I literally ended up contacting my Khorne buddies to explain this to them.
I was just trying to give some context and maybe helping. Apologize me if I was redundant or condescending; that was not my intention.

I reckon in the past there was some old rule (I think it was for 40k armies of World Eatyers) about Khorne armies not allowing psykers. Maybe that's where they got it. Or that old rule about not being possible to give the Mark of Khorne to psykers/wizards. But, as many other have told you, you can take a non-slaaneshi-Sorcerer as an ally. It's even fluffy.

To be fair it is weird for a Gaunt Summoner of TZEENTCH to summon Nurgle daemons!
Tzeentch routinely uses the other three gods for his own schemes. I can see one of his agents opening a rancid portal spewing nurgle creatures is that benefits him.

Interesting. What's your opinion on the Gaunt Summoner (the undisked one)? It casts 2 spells per turn, apparently, for only 20 more points and is also a daemon. Also, for suiciding pinks, aren't swords somehow better? I fell like I would need to downgrade the blues to brimstones for that.
Thank you! -
Hi, I was gifted a Lord of Change for Xmas so I guess that's a sign of Tzeentch to finally start a DoT army. I would like to start at 1000 points. I have some minis from back on 8th edition (yeah, I need to rebase them) and I was wondering if a "mini-changehost" (I know I cannot field itr under 1000, I just mean LoC + tons of horrors and endless spells) was possible.
I was thinking on something in the lines of LoC+2-3 Pink Horror units + fill the leftover 100 points with brimstones or assorted endless spells. I have 2 questions tho.
a) Which endless spells would you use on a 100 points budget? I am hopelessly lost there
b) Would that be too fragile? Can the whole horror-multiplication compensate for that? Is my LoC going to die first turn to cannon fire?
Thank you for the advice.

It's probably been talked about somewhere on this thread but for the (un)life of me I cannot find it. What would you suggest as an assembly of the ossy part of Feast of Bones? I am heading now towards a 1000 points goal, with the intention of going 2k by december holidays.
As far as I understand it, our army (unless you go solo cavalry or something like that) is slowish, resilient (with petrifex at least) and can regenerate minis (hence big units are preferred) but our damage output can be a bit low.
I plan building the Morghasts as Harbingers with halberds. I guess nobody will say anything if I decide before the game that they counts-as Archai, but I consider a 3d6 charge too good when compared to a situational 5+ save against MW.
The Mortek Guard I will probably assemble it with spears. The rend is lower but I can potentially hit with 3 ranks then, and I plan using big units anyway so they don't get wiped on a bad round. Is that a bad idea?
My biggest doubts are about the stalkers/immortis. I can see the potential of the stalkers going 5 attacks D2 (am I right thinking that in such scenario the “upgraded” weapons are actually worse?) or repeating saves. OTOH, Immortis Guard seem like a pretty nice bodyguard for caster heroes, of which I plan using a few in the future, but their damage potential is less than half the stalkers. Also, the Feast of Bones box doesn’t include the instructions for them. Kind of disappointing. I don’t really know how to aseemble them.
For my first 1k points I plan to use an anvil of Mortek guards wrapping heroes, either a smallish stalker flanking unit beside that block and Harbingers as a flanking hammer/warmachine hunter. Something like this
Petrifex elite
Vokmortion (140), general
Mortek guard 20 (260)
Mortek guard 10 (130)
Stalkers/Immortis 3 (200)
Harbingers 2 (210)
TOTAL: 940
Suggestions on what to add there? I could trade Vokmortion and 10 morteks for a boneshaper and another stalker/immortis unit, or getting it to 6, but I would have so few bodies then…

Oh, that is true. It feels "granulated", since it takes a lot for me to get 10 points and then suddenly I get 100+ points on the table on the last turns. I thought you meant that they were overpowered (which was not my impression).
I get what you mean
